Trouble with Sappy

So I finally got Sappy to work by doing some serious mining around the internet, and not a day after I got it to work, it stopped working. Ugh...

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it tons of times, different versions, sometimes even in different languages, but it still won't work.

My issue is that sometimes Sappy looks like it's trying to start up, but then it stops and it looks like nothing ever happened. I go into Task Manager and it pops up in the processes list for a few brief moments before disappearing again.

Again, tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it doesn't want to run after a DAY of finally getting it to work.

I had to install Sappy 2006, download Mod 17.1, then replace the .exe application of the Mod 17.1 version with the original. That's how I got it to work.

In case you need it, I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Dell laptop, with 4GB of RAM and a 2GHz Intel dual-core processor.
