Kalos Starters
So, like any other region we all have a choice between three Pokemon, a Grass-type, a Fire-type and a Water-type. And here in Kalos we have the resident trio of Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie! Each one has some unique differences, such as stat spreads, design and even the secondary types they gain in their final stages, making each one pretty usable in their own way. Which one of the three did you choose in your game and why? Are you a fan of the RPG design themes present in their evolution lines? How would you have wanted them done differently? |
I've always stuck with choosing a water type for my Pokemon games, probably because I like blue. Anyway (I think you can tell...), I chose....
Froakie! http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen6/xy-animated/656.gif Besides that fact, I like froakie, because it becomes half-dark in it's final stage when it becomes Greninja, which is basically a ninja frog, and what's not great about that! http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen6/xy-animated/658.gif |
Froakie and Fennekin are tied as my favorites. Chespin is cute, somehow I just can't seem to learn to love it. :(
|
Chesnaught is my favorite grass starter and in my top favorite Pokemon, might be as high as #3 or 4. I love all the Kalos starters tho. Fire/Psychic is one hell of a cool typing, and the Dark typing helped save Greninja since I dont really like Water types.
|
I love my Fennekin. c: It is just way too adorable
|
Fire wizard! How could you choose anything other than Fennekin when it evolves into Delphox? :P
But seriously, Fire/Psychic is one of the most awesome combinations (Victini!) along with Water/Dragon (although I don't really care for Kingdra - Gyarados should totally be this). |
When X and Y was first revealed, I simply fell in love with Fennekin. I instantly decided I would pick Fennekin as my starter. When the Kalos starters' evolutions were released, I was even more convinced that the Fire Fox was the choice for me. Braixen just looked amazing, and was adorable just like its pre-evo. Then, when the starter's final form was released, seeing Delphox for the first time just made me want to get the game already so I could blast through Kalos with the bad-ass Witch Fox. I know some people thought the ear hair looked ugly, but to me it was a nice part of its design and made it look even cooler (as well as even more adorable). In every single one of my playthroughs of X or Y, I've always picked Fennekin and I never regret it. It's my third favorite starter of all time (behind Typhlosion and Blaziken).
As for the others, I was initially indifferent towards the Chespin line, but now I've come to like them. I never liked the Froakie line at all and Greninja is actually my least favorite starter, as well as my second least favorite Pokemon of all time. (That's just my opinion, and I respect the opinion of those who do like it) |
I chose Froakie, and I'd stand by that line being my favorite of the Kalos starters overall. I love Fennekin, but honestly I already have Ninetales, and while I do like the entire line... Delphox could have used a redraw for me.
Chespin's line is interesting. I think Chespin is cute, if a bit awkward, while I really don't like Quilladin. Chesnaught, on the other hand, is really cool and prooobably my favorite Grass starter final stage... but its nose and lack of ears weird me out. If those issues were fixed, it'd EASILY be my favorite Grass starter, and possibly my favorite Kalos starter. Froakie's line, though? While I admit Greninja is NOT my favorite Water starter finale (it's actually #4 if you count Mega evolutions, and #3 if you don't) I definitely like it quite a bit, and I absolutely ADORE Frogadier. Froakie is cute and I can't really complain, but it's not what I'd call precious so it isn't quite one of my favorite line starters. |
I'm on the Froakie train as well, in fact when the starters were first revealed it was originally my least fave of the three and my fave was Chespin. But when evolutions were revealed, and also my positive reaction to Froakie in the first XY anime trainer, my love of Froakie surged. Now he's my fave, with Fennekin second and Chespin as my least fave nowadays.
I definitely did not regret choosing Froakie in my X playthrough. Greninja did wonders for me throughout most of the game, especially given I built a pretty solid team around it. The fact it can learn so many cool moves makes it more fun to use as well, along with being the first speedy Water starter. |
For some reason I just became a hardcore member of #TeamChespin in the run up to X/Y. Think it might have been cause I knew that there was the event Torchic, and I thought that I'd enjoy using Chespin/Squirtle more than Bulbasaur/Froakie. And I felt Chespin (Buckleberry) delivered on everything he promised.
I've really come to appreciate Froakie: I was initially a little bit put off by how Greninja seemed to be in every single OU team when the games originally came out. I've started a new game on Y using the handful of low-level shinies I've acquired over the last few years, and I've picked Fennekin as my starter. He's only level 12, but already I love him (his name is Flitwick :DD) Overall, I think they're all pretty top-level starters. Think I still prefer Kanto's and Hoenn's, but think Kalos' might come after that. |
Fennekin, as I always choose fire starters on my first journeys. I love the fire-psychic combination. I got couple of Shiny Fennekins on Masuda Method as well and I think Shiny Fennekin looks even better.
|
I love all of them. I picked Fennekin because I like mages and liked the idea of having a black mage as a starter but I got Froakie soon after I left Aquacorde.... not that I mind. I like thieves too. I didn't get Chespin until after I beat the game but I like it too.
I like the way they went with them, applying RPG class archtypes to them. I just wish the rest of the game was built around that as opposed to this weird mishmash of Pokemon and RPG type story. I also wish Delphox had a different signature move but eh, what can you do? (They totally should have just put Flare in. It's a black mage after all.) |
I picked Greninja aka The Ninja! Like, seriously a Ninja Pokemon, who would'nt? Oh yeah, it is Dark and Water that will totally wreck Fennekin! So... Yeah
|
When it came to the Kalos starters, I of course followed my tradition of picking the Water type starter. So I ended up going with Froakie. Plus I really love its final evolution, Greninja.
|
I chose Fenniken, gennerally because it was the cutest. I liked its evo. line but i think they should have put a gender difference since most starters in xy are male, including Fenniken, but the design was a female. They should have made males look like wizards, and the girls look the same as they do now.
|
On my first playthrough I chose Fennekin. Froakie on my second.Compared to Delphox and Greninja, Chesnaught is just too slow and bulky. It doesn't really fit for my in game playstyle, which is sweeper oriented.
|
Fennekin. I always choose the Fire starter lol
|
I actually Liked Quillidin more than Chesnaut. Team Chespin Forever
|
I choose fennekin because Froakie & Chespin final evolution wrecks havoc to deal against fairy-type on halfway and dem Sylveon
|
In each region, I have my favorites
Kanto - Charmander Johto - Chikorita Hoenn - Torchic Sinnoh - Chimchar Unova - Snivy For Kalos, it's Fennekin. Sure, they're all good, but I seem to favor the Fire types, either by cuteness or by the look of the final form. I always seem to favor the Fire type starter. But at the same time, I have a pattern that enables me to use all 3 starters throughout the generation. So I don't really need to choose or play favorites |
Quote:
Kanto - Pikachu~ Johto - Totodile Hoenn - Sceptile Sinnoh - Piplup (though I used Chimchar to fit in my Platinum run's theme) Unova - Snivy It seems I'm the total opposite as Fennekin is the only Fire starter I favour (although if I wasn't playing Yellow for Kanto, I would've gone with Charmander). Also BlueDogXL, why no Sylveon?:P |
Chespin all the way. It's totally adorable! Although my Chesnaut I barely use because I find the typing to not be the greatest. Still looks cool, though. :)
|
Well I chose Chespin (although I usually pick water-type startes) because I knew about the torchic event and I planned to have him in my team, and I wanted to have a blastoise in the team too so I picked squirtle from the professor lab! Chespin is cute, but I don't like his evolutions ... I'm sry Chespin lovers.
I really like the last evolution of Froakie, Greninja(he becomes an awesome ninja, how cool is that?) but in the previous evolutions, he is just a frog ... nothing special! And I really like all of the evolutions of Fennekin! He becomes Fire/Psychic, breaking that fire starters line (Torchic, Chimchar, Tepig) that evolve into Fire/Fighting Pokémon (Blaziken, Infernape, Emboar). If I had to choose one of the Kalos starters, I would pick Froakie! As I said ... I usually pick water-type starter pokémon! |
Fennekin for the win! It's super awesome, plus, Delphox is a fire/psychic. :D
|
I've went with Chespin in my first run, and haven't regretted it one bit. Chesnaught is a pretty unique Pokémon in its own right, and I feel it's worth putting all the time and effort towards training Chespin to have it evolve into the Pokémon.
My second favorite is Froakie, with third being Fennekin. |
I chose Chespin because I always go for the Grass Starter, however I wasn't overly keen on it's evolutions design wise. I adore Froakie and Greninja is awesome! Fennekin is super cute too! I did actually have them all on my team for most of my main playthrough so that was pretty neat.
|
I've chosen grass every time since Blue version. However, this is the first time I picked water right off the bat. Could bring myself to choose Chespin.
|
I chose Froakie, but only after I found out that it evolves into a ninja frog!
Regardless of the RPG, I have always preferred playing as the speedy yet vulnerable/stealthy class, most notably in Final Fantasy. Sometimes I play the cookie-cutter "hero with a sword and shield" class because you often end up starting out with those, but Mage/Sorcerer type characters have never really been my thing due to my weakness in indirect combat. |
My first play of X was Fennekin, my second was Chespin. Whenever that next version comes for Kalos I am gonna go with Chespin again. I like Greninja and all, but I take my starters to a personal level as if I had to choose in real life, and grass types are my favorite. So yeah, sorry Froakie :(
|
I'm on Team Chesnaught. I like abusing moves such as Wood Hammer, Drain Punch and Spiky Shield. Chesnaught is a good tank to use.
|
The moment I saw Chesnaught's design leaked, I pledged to pick Chespin as my starter, and I've never regretted it.
Chesnaught is just excellent at what it does, being bulky while able to deal powerful punches, and its design beautifully emphasizes that. |
as soon as i saw the the artwork of the 3 starters, http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130111162904/fakemon/es/images/f/fc/Froakie_sprite.pngor http://orig13.deviantart.net/ece9/f/2013/014/f/3/fennekin_sprite_by_dancesofshadows-d5qwyza.pngwas my choice. before i got X i had already known full well of the second starter with megastone as well as shauna giving the starter week to one one chosen at the begining of the game so i decided on http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130111162904/fakemon/es/images/f/fc/Froakie_sprite.png with http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/004.gif as my second
as for the other gens... the first pokemon game i got a hold of was yellow with a gameboy color as a christmas present mailed to me from my father.(i was living in indiana at the time ) so i didn't have any choice of starter til i got red within the next few days to a month. i don't really know, i did however spend a lot of time playing yellow. it kinda threw my teachers off guard that i was playing a video game in their classes while simultaneously doing my work and getting better scores then the rest of my class while still being one of the ones with the most detentions due to getting into fights, once i got red i decided on http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/004.gifright off the bat after seeing how awesome it was in yellow. soon after i got red, i got a blue version & chose http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/007.gif. years passed & the second gen came. i got both gold & silver at the same time. on gold i chose http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/155.gif& on silver i chose http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/158.gif then came the 3ed gen with ruby & sapphire & again i got both at the same time with ruby i got http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/258.gif sapphire i got http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/252.gif then i got Colosseum with the 2 awesome eeveelutions as the starters next came the gen 1 remakes, i got firered first with http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/004.gif as my starter then got leafgreen & got http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/001.gif as my starter after that came emerald and http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/255.gifas my starter xd gale of darkness & chose to evolve that http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/133.gifinto a http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/136.gif then i got diamond & chose http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/387.gifas my starter with pearl i got http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/390.gif platinum & http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/393.gifas a starter i got hg & ss with a gamestop preorder and got a http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/155.gifas a starter with hg & http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies2/152.gifon my ss got http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies/495.pngon black & black2 got http://www.serebiiforums.com/images/smilies/498.pngon white & white2 |
I prefer chespin over the other two fennekin and froakie but my favorite choice of starters would be the three johto starters Pokémon
|
This is the first time I didn't choose the fire starter because 1) I wanted to use the Charmander Sycamore gives you and 2) I didn't like Fennekin that much
I ended up with Chespin. I like the secondary types and themes they gave the starters. |
In X I chose Froakie and Y I chose Fennekin!
I love both their final evos equally so! I like Chespin, but Chesnaught not so much :< |
My run was with Fennekin, I enjoy its whole evolution line.
I tend to go with the fire types naturally. |
FENNEKIN ALL THE WAY.
I love the Fennekin line so much, honestly. It's easily tied with Chikorita for my favorite starter, although admittedly I do think Delphox's design could have been a little bit better, but it's not the worst. |
To me, Delphox is one of the worst looking Pokémon to ever exist. Which is a shame because I actually liked Fennekin the best out of the three starters when they were revealed! Chespin was a close second. I thought all three starters looked good when they were revealed and then their evolutions hit. Didn't like Quilladin, didn't like Frogadier, Braxien wasn't what I was expected but probably the best out of a bad bunch.
Then the final evolutions hit. I liked Greninja, thought Chesnaught looked awkward and was nearly sick when I seen Delphox. Ok, maybe not literally haha. Just like to exaggerate for effect :P But I was so gutted with the way it looked. Anyway, Greninja all the way, Chesnaught looks a bit awkward, but I'm awkward too so I still kinda like the big guy! |
I like the idea of picking the water starter, because then your starter is the one who carries you over the water :p
A bit of a difficult choice sometimes, though... since in X/Y, if you use Surf with a Lapras, it uses an actual Lapras when surfing, and in OR/AS, you surf super fast if you use a Sharpedo... so many decisions! |
Initially started out with Chespin, and liked him a lot. Trained Fennekin a bit to register it's forms in the Pokedex and ended up claiming it as my 6th gen starter. This is only the second Fire starter I've ever used, with Torchic being the other, so it's a bit unusual for me to fall in love with it, but Delphox is awesome.
|
Braixen. No, not Fennekin. Braixen.
When I first saw Fennekin, its design was fairly standard and bland to me. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't really as cool as previous designs in that vein. (Like Vulpix.) Nothing really stood out about it. However, I was excited about what potential it had. Its evolutions. So I waited. And then I got my new favorite Pokemon of all time. BRAIXEN! It's adorable, cute, and feminine. Just much more cuter than Fennekin to me. Great use of colors too. And its cry... plus its motions in Pokemon Amie... I literally can't get enough of Braixen. I find it to be a very relatable design, and really identify with being one. Oh my God, I was so pleased with this one that there was no way it could evolve to surpass itself. Sadly, it didn't. I don't hate Delphox, but it definitely loses a lot of the appeal it had as Braixen. Braixen in my opinion is a much more clever design. A tail that resembles a broomstick where it also keeps its wand? It fits MUCH better with the witch theme. With Delphox, it lost a lot of not just its feminine cuteness, but it also became more... medieval and Gandolf-y. And I'm not really too fond of that. They just kind of stuck a fiery robe on it and lazily had it store its stick on its sleeve. Now, I still like Delphox. It has more red in its color scheme. And I'll use one if I need the extra power. But I'd prefer not to evolve my Braixen. Honestly, the design of Delphox just needs some slight re-tooling to work better. I think the ear hair should be made more long and slender similarly to Braixen's, perhaps to resemble human hair a bit more since it's a humanoid witch-type thing. Also, they should've kept the part where it stores its stick in its tail and emphasized more of the broomstick nature of a witch. Or maybe something like a crystal ball made of fire since it's supposed to be based on an oracle. Also, I do like the RPG theming in the starters this gen, but think it's a bit less original than previous concepts. As for Chespin and Froakie, I pretty much think their evolutions turned out the best they could, and don't really think they need any improvement. I pretty much like all the Gen VI starters, which is rare because there's usually a dud each generation for me. (Which is almost always the Water-type.) |
I chose Froakie because he's a frog and looked really adorable. I like ninjas too, so Greninja was pretty awesome and powerful.
|
My favorite Kalos starter of the bunch is Chespin, and was the one I picked. I usually pick the starter who's design I liked the most, since I would like to find out how good its stats are and the typing on my own playthrough. I still think Chespin is the best out of the trio, even after completing the game.
|
I don't like Chespin and his evolutions. They look really ugly to me. Both Delphox and Greninja are really awesome, but I prefer Delphox. Shiny Greninja is better though.
|
At glance I prefer Fennekin (Froakie looks a bit stupid to me), but if I have to choose between the final evolutions then I'll surely go for Greninja.
|
One my first run, I chose Fennekin. It's cute design, and it's unique Fire/Psychic typing when it evolves. I think it was a nice change from the typical Fire/Fighting that was prevalent for a few generations. Fennekin's design really made me think about if I should let it evolve or not as well.

I've chosen Froakie because it's adorable and strong evolutinary. Greninja is a ninja frog as you know and I like it's sprite.
I didn't like Fennekin or Chespin; Fennekin's final evolution is creepy and useless to me. Same way Chespin. Also, Chesnaught is too ugly and I don't like ugly pokemon. http://i.hizliresim.com/2kDZ2L.jpg |
I have to be honest about something. 6th gen starters are my least favorite starters by a landslide.
http://orig05.deviantart.net/0f9c/f/2015/042/3/2/656_froakie_by_3d_poke_sprites-d8hlas8.gif I usually go for the grass starter first but since my friend had decided on chespin already, I went with froakie because I like frogs. I like the speed and design of froakie and its evos. It honestly felt like the only design that made sense all the way through. Froakie has aggravated me more times than once however. If you have ever wondertraded you received protean froakies out the rear and I just got tired of getting them. They are also a common occurrence in every try hard competitive team ever(and the personality of the person makes it harder to stand). But out of the three, Froakie has to be the best one in my opinion. Calling it my favorite would be an over statement. http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/119782636/50694365 Fennekin is adorable I have to admit. However its design bothers me, it looks like it started out as a fighting type and it didn't evolve into the okami dog that I wanted it to be. Stat wise it is alright but I have never liked psychic types and I usually despise the fire starter with all of my heart. So my two least favorite types in one...eh...no. http://archive.pokedit.com/boards/ckfinder/userfiles/2/images/chespin-sprite.gif My least favorite of the three...Chespin. Chespin is cute, its evolutions on the other hand, not so much. Quilladin just looks all kinds of dumb and Chesnaught just feels like it doesn't belong in this line. It's like this evolution chain just missed a step. Battle wise, its alright, nothing to write home about. It has a good bit of defense to it and overall it didn't have the same effect on me as any of the other grass starters did. Overall the entire trio didn't give me the same feel I was expecting from the other trios and just fell short. It felt like it was missing something, and that makes me sad. |
I have always chosen water... Even though I hate the color blue and prefer red. The water ones always seem like the most badass to me. Only time I didn't choose water was in my first Pokemon game, Yellow, in whinch you're given Pikachu, obviously. :)
|
I chose Fennekin but ended up trading over a Froakie so I could use both. I still like Delphox the best. It may not be the strongest but I love it anyway.
|
I liked chespin the best at first, but the evolutions ruined him for me. He's still my favorite of the first forms, but I think Froakie has the best evolutionary line.
|
I just started my first play through. I went with Chespin. Outside of Charmander and Kanto games, I almost always go with the grass starters.
|
I chose Fennekin :-]
The reason being: I like Fennekin the best out of the Kalos starters. But then again, I dislike the Kalos Starters as a whole... tbh. So I ended up boxing my starter during my Y runthrough :-/ |
I chose Fennekin the first time around, because I thought it was the cutest out of the three. Turns out I'm not a huge fan of its final form Delphox though, design-wise or battle-wise. So in my second playthrough (after I started a new game and carried all my Pokemon over via the Pokemon Bank) I chose Froakie, since I'm a huge fan of Greninja. Ironically enough though, Froakie is my least favorite of the first stage Kalos starters. Go figure.
|
I usually go with water starters as i'm pretty picky about which water type to use throughout game and starter generally doesn't disappoint. Though, once i've learned all the starters, i play without them.
chose Froakie and loved it. infact, it inspired me to shape an all "ninja" themed team based off of it. Greninja Umbreon(Sometimes swapped for Weavile) Ninjask(sometimes swapped for Accelgor) Scizor Crobat Toxicroak I'm facerolling the game and do surprisingly well on Battlespot considering it's swarming with people spamming OP legendaries. :) |
I've played with both Fennekin and Chespin.
When the starters were first release, I actually liked Froakie more than Chespin (but not as much as Fennekin.) And especially with the release of Frogadier, which I love. But I didn't like Greninja because of the tongue scarf (bleh!) Dlephox is probably my favorite, even if I do think they could have made it more appealing (bigger, rounder head and eyes.) |
I've played with only Chespin so far, largely due to its character in the anime which made me think it would be a lot of fun. I was right about Chespin but not so much it evolutions. I was very disappointed with its evolutions' designs and overall use. They have a very limited movepool and the moves they can use aren't much fun. I was also a bit disappointed that the stats really aren't that great outside of its attack. With that said, I do love the line dearly since it was my first in Pokemon X but I will choose a different starter for next time.
|
X- Froakie. Y- Fennekin. Water is my favourite type, so I usually choose that in the first game. Then fire in the second.
|
Even though i went with Fennekin in my first playthrough of Y since I really liked how cute Fennekin is, I did another playthrough but on X this time with Froakie as my starter since i knew that Froakie's evolutionary line is pretty boss. Greninja is one kickass fully evolved starter.
I am pretty happy that i got the Adamant Chespin in my Y playthrough from Shauna. Though maybe the nature was already set but then again, I wouldn't know. |

My favorite Kalos starter is Froakie. Greninja is an absolute beast. I'm not a big fan of the Chespin line. Chespin is cute but I kind of wish its evolutions would have been designed a little differently. I'm also not a huge fan of Delphox. To me, Braixen is more aesthetically pleasing.
|
To be honest when the 3 Kalos where originally introduced in January 2013, didn't liked any of the 3, back then still loved cats more none of the 3 resembled any - but some time around April and May I started to fall in love with foxes - so naturally Fennekin started to catch my attention.
When XY came out I made up my mind and choose Fennekin as my starter. Now Fennekin is my most favorite of all starters combined. So cute in game (and in the anime too) Braixen is my 3rd Favorite Pokemon (behind Flareon and Ninetales) Delphox awesome looking (and cute too). So happy I choose them as my favorite. Anytime I play an X, Y, (and next 6th generation main game) I will gladly choose Fennekin. as for the other 2? Chespin is OK, funny in the anime. Quilladin looks odd at first getting used to it Chesnaught at first didn't liked since it didn't resemble Chespin or Quilladin at first, getting to slowly like it Frokie and it's two evo's to this day I can't stand or like, they are almost rock bottom at my favorite's list. |
I haven't picked a Fire-starter since Cyndaquil, but I don't regret choosing Fennekin one bit! It's not only adorable, but it also evolves into a Fire / Psychic type! I'm also a sucker for canid-like Pokemon.
|
First generation where I picked a Fire type first since gen2, Fennekin is just too cute! And the magician kinda thing going on with Delphox was pretty cool, too.
Next time I play XY I'm not sure who I'd pick, to be honest >< |
I chose Fennekin because of how adorable it looks and that it reminds me of my grandmother's dog lol.
|
Greninja looks the least weird to me. I'm not a fan of the Kalos starters to be honest. I like how they look before they evolve.
|
Usually I would pick the water type but this time I didn't and picked the fire type. Froakie and Fennekin both look cute in their own ways but I chose Fennekin because I never had a fire type as a starter before. I wanted to try something different this time.
|
I've chosen all of them multiple times, but Chespin was the one I chose in my very first time through X, and the last playthrough I did. But my most notable adventure in them had me going with Froakie, where it lived to the end. I like all three of them, I can't help but be amused at Froakie's puzzled look.
|
Like Pendraflare says, I've chosen them all multiple times. The first starter I got was Chespin, but I think Fennekin grew the most on me. c:
|
I went with Chespin because I really liked his design, but I ended up regretting it because I didn't really like his later evolutions too much.
|
I went with Fennekin, because it simply looks pretty cute ^^
|
I love chespin the most. Chesnaught has really good defense, so he can take a lot of physical hits. The only downside about him is that flying-types will destroy him in an instant. I think it can be countered by teaching him rock slide or stone edge.
Also, his design looks awesome. He looks like a cross between a chestnut, an armadillo and a soldier. |
Whilst I'm super excited to be finally getting Pokemon X soon (awaiting my order), I'm dreading this choice. Before the games were released, I was sure I would continue my usual trend of picking the Water type (with the exception of Charmander when I was a 9 year old playing Red). When I saw the starters, I became far more divided. Each of them is adorable in their first stage and I'm not that fond of any of their final stages. This is the first time I've had a Pokemon game where I've genuinely struggled to decide who to start with, hopefully it will become easier once I have the game in hand. Having said that, I've gone back and forth on this potential decision since I became aware of the starters. I love foxes which makes me favour Fennekin.. but then Froakie is a cute frog and my favourite type... Chespin is my favourite colour and very, very cute... I'm starting to sound like the Pokemon Fan Club President XD
|
Had to go with my ninja, Greninja. Ha I'm hilarious. Anyway I think what sold me on greninja more than anything else is sweet tongue scarf. Also protean is pretty awesome.
|
Received an email saying my Pokemon X was ready for collection in store, a whole 7 days before it was expected to arrive. This means I had even less time to decide on which starter! However, I decided to go with Chespin who now has the honour of being my first Grass type starter on a first play of any Pokemon game (outside of Pokemon Red, where I picked Charmander, I always pick the Water type to start with). Looking forward to seeing how Chespin and I work together! :D
EDIT: I have since started again as I regretted not choosing Fennekin and I'm much more content now! I actually picked Fennekin initially, but changed as I couldn't manage to reset for a female one and I got pretty impatient. Fennekin has become my favourite Kalos starter hands down! |
Greninja is awesome starter

in X i picked chespin because i planned on getting charmander and i didn't think my party had room for two fire types.
