Alicia's Blissey can help nurse any of the injured Pokemon back to health :)

So where do we want to start? What are the areas that are hit the hardest right now? Since there's only so many of us, do we want to begin our efforts with the areas where the most people and Pokemon are injured?

So far Pokémon attacks have been on areas closest to the ocean and with the highest population. This means cities like Itsaso, Primaria, and Port Fortuna (F, I and J on the map).

And good news (I hope)! I've created a Skype group for members of the Heiwa Region. If you have a Skype and want to join in on some conversation, get to know members, and most importantly get involved in events, you'll want to get in on this! (People on Skype also get insider access to the region).

Trainer Class: Ace Trainer (doesn't look like a normal ace trainer). Is also a scientist and programmer.
Nature: Careful
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Eye/Hair Color: Dark Brown
Hair Type: Messy
Skin Color: Caucasian
Specializes In: Ice Types

Diplomatic Relations: Resident of Heiwa, Honorary Citizen of Ceriah

Current Task: He is currently doing nothing of importance.

History: Born in Olivine City, Johto, he was inspired to become a Pokémon trainer when he met Lance, the champion of the region. Since then he has become one of the greatest trainers in Johto, known for having a strategy for every situation instead of using force or thinking on the spot. About 9 months ago, he decided he wanted to go somewhere new; someplace that most people wouldn't know who he was. He moved to Elurte Town, Heiwa, to get away and also because of the region itself.

Additional Information: He is also known to have a high standing with the Cerian Government, as he is sometimes involved with the scientific advancements of the region, and shares similar views with the Cerian people about the treatment of Pokémon.

Personality: Calm and Careful, he doesn't let his emotions get the better of him. He is also kind to others, but since his mind is analytical and often takes the direct approach with words rather than the diplomatic approach, he is sometimes seen as rude. He is also known to be an Introvert. Has similar views to the Cerian people about Pokémon.

"S-sir! Another show's about to begin you can't just-"

"Sorry sister but hold it there. When the rhythm says go I just gotta go."

Waltzing onto the theaters stage, perhaps to the great surprise of all of the native Heiwa people present. A man in a fancy black suit and hat waltzed on in. His gall and pride were almost unbecoming as he stood in front of the expecting audience. Spying the piano to stage left, he reached into his coat and dropped some sheet music in front of the musician.

"Wait. Wh-"

"Just play it guy... you like music so play music."

The man behind the keys gave a reluctant yet understanding nod as he slowly felt out the new song, it was a simple little ditty. The stranger with the green hair and suit had written it himself. As the tune picked up and began proper, the man whistled gently and tossed his hat into the air. Catching it he pointed to the drummer to stage right, tapping his foot gently as the young musician behind the set began to drum away with a percussion of his own design. The music played and the audience slowly started to come around. A little bit of jazz always got the music lovers going.

"Lovely people of the Heiwa region... perhaps you've already seen but a nice new building built of the prettiest dang obsidian marble that Dúlra can offer is standing strong and looking cool on the outskirts of this pretty little town. It's a monument to peace y'see? Just like me. A man from over the sea."

Spinning into center stage and whistling to the tune, the man removes his hat and spun it gently on a finger by the brim, tracing it down his army it rolled across his back and down his left to be caught neatly in his other hand, before he flipped it back onto his head and spread his arms wide.

"It's a pleasure to meet my new friends! They call me Dwayne, Dwayne Fionnuar, but don't you skitty's worry about the ancient tagline. Dwayne works all the same. Dúlra region born and raised, crossing the sea and hear to say..."

The man pointed directly behind him to center stage and the cello got into the beat. He clapped his hands and this is what he said, his hands clapping to beat as he smirked at his own sound.

"A bit of balance here and there, sure to make it everywhere... thousand arms in an alpha egg, went and shaped the world one day. Heiwa, Dúlra, all the same... if balance is the game. Call me ambassador, call me Dwayne... either way I'm here to stay. Sorry to interrupt but a grand entrance is the game I play. You need me? You find me. The building from before, two turns from the music store, just knock on the door and I'll take the floor."

"Dwayne's the name... and I'm the Dúlran ambassador."

As he finished speaking, the music finally came to a close and the green haired man bowed with a cocky smirk on his face. The audience, whom had seemed to enjoy his little preformance, were in high spirits and chattering about this new arrival amidst themselves.

"Now you folks have a good night... and enjoy the rest of your show. Until the next.~"

Grabbing the sheet music back from the piano... Dwayne made his way off stage. A quick wink to a group of waiting and already flustered kimono girls and he was on his way.

To think he could advocate peace... AND have a fun time all in one. The Champion sure was swell for setting up with this ambassador gig. As he exited the building, his Crobat flew low to follow him home. Straight to the new Dúlran embassy.

He hopes now, after being sent to Heiwa by Dúlra's current champion, to assist with relation between his home and one of it's strongest allies, Heiwa, through the use of music and his own unique brand of "balance".

The Heiwa Herald
Special Edition 8/14/2015

Situation Resolved!

Finally, after a very frightening last few days, the rabid Water Pokémon situation has seemingly been resolved. Although we are not sure where it came from, the Heiwa League is absolutely certain that a powerful psychic influence caused the Pokémon to be enraged. We at the Herald speculate it may have been an as of yet unseen legendary Pokémon. What could this mean for Heiwa?

The Great Roundup

The first phase, coordinated by Heiwa's Champion Lady Emmeline, was a truly an amazing feat of coordination. I'm sure many of you witnessed (or maybe even participated in) a region-wide effort by Grass and Bug Pokémon to calm and then disable the enraged Pokémon. The operation began at exactly 12:00 PM, when Grass-type Pokémon across the region began to cast Sweet Scent. As soon as the water Pokémon began to feel a bit of its calming influence (and also began to move towards the source of the Sweet Scent), the remaining Grass and Bug Pokémon began a mass Stun Spore/Sleep Power attack that incapacitated the water Pokémon. Gym Leaders Titheo and Sam were both extremely impressive, and were said to have calmed their local Pokémon almost single-handedly.

Once the Pokémon had been incapacitated, a fleet of Flying Pokémon (lead by Gym Leader Caelum) then began their transport to the Ranger Headquarters on (nameless) Island.

The Cure

Pokémon Ranger Bree (and also part-time photographer for the Herald) was actually responsible for championing the effort to block the psychic influence on the Pokémon. Eye witness statements describe her taking charge in a sea of confusion, suggesting a large-scaled Heal Bell and Magic Coat combination with the use of a large number of the Rangers' Lopunny and Delcatty (as well as any trainers' Pokémon that could contribute).

After the Pokémon arrived, the Rangers directed all the Pokémon to an enclosure in a bay behind the main facility. From there the Lopunny and Delcatty (and co.) were assembled along the shoreline. What happened next was truly amazing. A mass Magic Coat was created, expanding to cover the entire bay in its protective influence. The effect was immediate, as a number of the water Pokémon immediately appeared at ease. All at once the chiming of Heal Bell was then heard, a glorious chorus of one hundred Pokémon. Once the chiming was done, the Magic Coat barrier was released and all present waited with bated breath as the first water Pokémon began to stir. Fortunately, it was immediately evident that the solution had worked (a small group Spheal were seen playing about in the water). The water Pokémon had been saved!

What Comes Now?

The Pokémon Ranger headquarters have issued the following announcement:
Quote:

All trainers that had their Pokémon relocated this past week are free to stop by the Headquarters on (nameless) Island to recover their Pokémon.
This is certainly wonderful news, as it seems to imply that no lasting harm (either physical or mental) befell any Pokémon that had to contained during the outbreak.

Do you want to take part in the Great Heiwa Water Pokémon Roundup? Well, you can! I (Lost Heart) programmed a small game for Heiwaians to play during the actual event, but now anyone that wants to can!

I know it's not really anything special, but hopefully it's a bit of fun. :D

"Its been a couple days now sense you left me mom. I know your not in pain anymore, your at peace. But, you were everything, I cant handle it anymore! I dont know how long I can keep this up. I cant continue living in this world without you..."

Hands shaking and overcome with hysteria, Mimi lowered the note from his view and focused back on the clutter that was the kitchen of his family's home. In front of him laid the body of his sister who took her life. Days before, laid his mother whose life was cut all too short by a mysterious illness. And only a year before then, his father vanished on his way to a doctor in Vittoria City. Mimi dropped to his knees in utter defeat weeping for what felt like days.
His entire life, 18 years, everything fell apart in a matter of a few months. Mimi would never forget that feeling.
However, despite everything he had lost he never gave up. After burying his sister besides his mother's grave -under a great tree in the center of his families ranch- he began piecing together everything that remained.
On the bright side he still had his families farm in Vivere City and connections with the regions professor.
Only a month later things began to pick up, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Mimi sealed a deal with Prof. Celia Totora, who agreed to accept pokemon eggs from his ranch. Local staples had taken notice started and began turning to him.
However, he wasn't completely unfazed by the loss of his family. Sinse their deaths he has developed acute paranoia and has been known to come up with conspiracies. He occasionally strays from his farm in order to find clues of his fathers disappearance.

Passed down to him after his mother and father vanished two years ago on the cold Elurte Island.
Mimi, despite only having owned the farm two years, has become a staple for local organizations. One of his clients being Professor a Celia Totora, in which he supplies both Pokemon eggs and his own research data in regards to egg inherited moves. In recent months he has began promoting his business to Pokemon trainers by handing out random "mystery eggs" to those in the area.

Enter Coltan and Sylas! An actual introductory post will be forthcoming once the characters are accepted.

Name: Coltan
Occupation: Cerian Ambassador
Pokemon: Gible, Fletchling, Ferroseed

A Cerian Ambassador come to oversee relations with Heiwa, Coltan has found himself with little to do in the peaceful region between signing trade agreements. Somewhat intrigued by the notion of foreign gyms, he's taken to coaching his own team in his overwhelming amount of off-time. Though he spends the majority of his time in Heiwa, he does occasionally visit Ceriah for brief periods; many of his team members are in fact Cerian Pokemon.

As a Cerian, Coltan has rather different ideas regarding acceptable behavior towards Pokemon. He absolutely refuses to capture any Pokemon against its will and sees the practice as appalling, instead recruiting new members by means of formal invitation. He also insists upon the Cerian term "Pokemon coach" for himself instead of "Pokemon trainer." Being a more experienced fighter, Sylas will often offer Coltan tips on strategy and team composition.

He wears an alloy steel Mega Bracelet of Cerian make around his wrist, designed such that the key stone is neither exposed nor visible; many foreigners would not recognize it as a Mega Bracelet at all. Unless otherwise stated, Coltan is always accompanied by Sylas.

Name: Sylas
Occupation: Cerian Bodyguard

Sylas has come to Heiwa solely as Coltan's guard. He is, quite literally, a Garchomp. Being a Cerian Pokemon, he's accustomed to being treated as an individual and equal member of citizenship; though he maintains proper decorum at all times, he's often frustrated by the average Heiwa citizen's assumption that he "belongs" to Coltan. Sylas owns a Poke ball decorated with the mark of the Cerian military in the colors of the Cerian flag and typically carries it hung around his neck in the event that he needs to receive care at a Pokemon Center. He wears an expertly engineered, alloy steel breastplate of Cerian design. Neither exposed nor visible, his Garchompite is built into it.

Welcome to the Archipelago Ace Trainer Rai!

Also, a couple of you (not saying names, but you know who you are) haven't really been active (either in the thread or by joining on Skype). Unless you're a Gym Leader, this isn't really an issue, but I will let you know you're missing out on a lot of fun.

Managrimm August 19th, 2015 9:15 PM

Though his attention was primarily on those Heiwaian's sent to see to his arrival, Coltan couldn't help but admire the attentiveness of his body guard as they walked through Vittoria. Sylas had every reason to relax in a region so peaceful, yet the Garchomp scanned their surroundings with the keen accuracy of a soldier. Calm, collected, and proactive almost to a fault, Coltan couldn't imagine asking for a finer bodyguard.

At a glance, the embassy provided Ceriah seemed more than adequate to their purposes. It was functional yet comfortable and combined with Heiwa's pleasantly tropical atmosphere it would be a fine place to live. It did not take long, however, for Coltan to realize the mistake that many a Cerian would have taken as gravely insulting: they hadn't prepared a suitable room for Sylas. A frown creased his lips. He had most certainly specified his bodyguard's presence and species well in advance. Did they expect him to simply sleep in his Poke ball?

After a short pause he sighed and turned, rubbing his temples. Of course they expected him to sleep in a Poke ball. That was the way of things in this region. He didn't want to begin this affair on the note of complaint, but he also could not ignore the implications of the mistake.

Perhaps this would not be quite so relaxing as he had anticipated.

The Heiwa Herald
Issue 1 8/21/2015

Elite Four Promotion Tournament!

The time for an event that has been anticipated heavily across the region has finally arrived! That's right, in just a few short days an officially Heiwa League-sanctioned tournament to decide one of the next Elite Four members! This is a region changing event, because the winning Gym Leader will give up their station and will move to Vittoria City. This means that a place for a new Gym Leader will open up! This tournament is at an opportune moment, as the Heiwa Region prepares for the wet season, because the newly instated Elite Four member will have months to acclimate to their new post.

A Bit About our Great Culutre (part 1)

Good day, my fellow Heiwaians. This is Mr. Garnet. For the next few issues I will be writing a series of short columns on the great culture of Heiwa. Heiwaian culture dates back to the time of its discovery and subsequent colonization. Based in the traditional values of both Hoenn and Unova (which a number of the explorers came from), Heiwaian culture has has evolved to suit the tropical environment that we currently live in.

Today I would live to speak specifically on the traditional relationship between human and Pokémon. Since the beginning, Pokémon have been valued partners, aiding their human companions in day to day tasks, serving as pets, and even battling for their human masters for sport. And it has remained that way ever since. The bond between Pokémon and a human is truly special, and is the reason why Pokémon are so beloved throughout the region. Not only are the people friendly, the Pokémon are too, because humans and Pokémon have always lived in harmony. All across the region, people work with Pokémon throughout their daily lives. It is only natural for a Heiwaian to work with and train Pokémon of their own.

- Mr. Garnet, Owner, Heiwa Herald

Kai's Fishing Corner

Hello, Heiwaians! This week looks to seem to be a good week for fishing! If you're planning a trip, I'd recommending taking the time to travel out to the Ombra-Solitario area. Current migratory patterns predict and abundance of Finneon and Lumineon will be making their way to the colder waters of Elurte, and will have reached Routes B and A this week. Be on the look out, because a Lumineon is a wonderful asset to any would-be fisherman!

- Kai, Fishing Correspondent, Heiwa Herald

So here's the first official issue of the Heiwa Herald. It's not much, but I hope it will only get better from here! :)
Right now I'm the only writer (actively writing), so it would be awesome to see some more applicants (please apply).

Additional Details:
Marjorie the Odd is exactly what her name implies. Is that even her real name? Probably not, but that's what everyone calls her.

Marjorie is an old woman that travels Heiwa with her Mismagius and Arbok, selling strange trinkets and spewing random nonsense. She claims to be able to see the future and takes pride in her colorful and nonsensical riddles that she says hold some sort of meaning. Do they? Who knows?

In appearance, Majorie is a short, hunched over woman with long, flowing gray hair and a deep purple dress. Her face is covered in wrinkles and her eyes are a dark brown, so dark that unless you look closely, her irises appear black. She walks with a twisted cane made out of an old tree branch, and she is often difficult to understand due to the fact that she has very few teeth left in her mouth. One of her notables trademarks is the amount of jewelry she wears. Gold necklaces and earrings, and various bracelets and rings.

Marjorie's origins are not clear. Some say she's a witch, others say she's an alien. Most say she's just a crazy old lady. No one really knows, though.

Welcome to the Archipelago Marjorie. Do try to keep your insanity under wraps. :)

Citizens of Heiwa!

Ambassador Coltan is currently getting settled into the Cerian embassy at Vittoria City and is still getting a feel for the region. I'm calling on any interested Heiwaian citizens to help shape his views on this strange, foreign land. Anyone currently a member of Heiwa can send me a PM titled "Coltan in Heiwa" with a citizen's reactions to Coltan and/or Sylas, whether it be the way they react to him in person or a letter sent directly to the embassy. The responses I get will affect Coltan's views on Heiwa!

Keep in mind that although Coltan is listed as having three Pokemon on his team, those were placed there were the purpose of the application. They won't exist until my next update, so reactions to them in particular won't be used.

This offer is open to all members, including citizens, trainers, and gym leaders. If you want to do a more in-depth interaction I'm also available on Skype. If you don't think your particular character would interact with Coltan, feel free to use a spontaneously generated citizen instead!

Have fun!

I've updated the Pokédex on the main post! The Heiwa Region now has 200 Pokémon in its Pokédex! On top of this, a new legendary has been introduced: Shaymin.

Additionally, I'll try to finalize city descriptions today, so be sure to check back and read them! :)

The Elite Four Showcase

Emmeline was walking briskly up the large staircase towards the main stadium in Vittoria City, the cool morning breeze ruffling her hair the slightest bit as she looked towards the sunrise. It had been far too long since anyone had joined the Elite Four, and Heiwa needed another powerful representative.

She had sent out a missive earlier, calling on her Gym Leaders to come to the stadium, and the newspaper had already done a good job of publicizing the event. Now all she need to do was wait...

Rules

  • 6v6 Anything Goes format, but try to build "OU" level teams.
  • Monotype for your type (if it can be found in Heiwa), but your listed team is preferred.
  • No "evil" teams that will give you an unfair advantage (if you want to test a team I can battle you and let you know)

Participants

  • Brina (yayacomma)
  • Titheo (eros)
  • Caelum (Sky High)
  • Sam (doge)
  • Alicia (Sopheria)
  • Eleska (「sarcasm)
(Gym Leaders, if you want a chance, be sure to let me know! Send me a PM or post "in" to join the tournament)

Sopheria August 27th, 2015 4:06 PM

The Elite Four Showcase

Emmeline stood above the stadium, surveying the crowd that had gathered, a bright smile upon her face. It was so wonderful to see the people supporting their gym leaders. Looking down, her smile dimmed only slightly (she didn't want the people to worry) when she noticed that Kayla, the Water-type Gym Leader, had still not arrived. She still had some time to arrive, but it would be cutting it close. Turning on the microphone in front of her, Emmeline announced, "Welcome, my fellow Heiwaians, to the Heiwa League's Elite Four Showcase! Before you we have your Gym Leaders, all of them hoping for a chance to become of the League's Elite Four! For the next few hours, you will witness a level of battling you will not get to see again until the League Championships in a few months!"

Rules

  • 6v6 Anything Goes format, but try to build "OU" level teams.
  • Monotype for your type (if it can be found in Heiwa), but your listed team is preferred.
  • No "evil" teams that will give you an unfair advantage (if you want to test a team I can battle you and let you know)

Match-ups

You can view your match-ups for the tournament here. Every leader will be battling every leader, so be sure to start as soon as you can! Just be sure to post a replay of your match so that everyone can see how you do! :)

Also if Kayla joins the tournament the match-ups will be changed, so the tournament will officially start in about 8 hours or so.

Bree made her way through the streets of Vittoria City. The bustle made her edgy; she wasn't much good with people. She much preferred the Heiwaian wilderness or the seas- yes, they were rather unpredictable, but they never went after you for simply being yourself.

Regardless, she was interested in being part of this momentous occasion. A new Elite Four member, chosen from the great gym leaders! Every citizen of Heiwa would be paying attention in some way. Being close to Vittoria for work meant it had been very easy for her to stay in the city for the tournament days.

Bree pressed on toward the stadium. The sea of people was raging here, with merchant stalls bobbing like buoys. Vendors shouted their inventory over the babbling crowd, hoping to entice the weak-willed into purchasing their overpriced oddities. She passed an old woman showing off what looked like a doll from a horror movie and walked a little more quickly after that.

Finally, she made it into the stadium. The challengers were here, along with the Champion. Hardcore battling fans were already claiming the best seats, even this early in the day. Bree picked a spot near the front and popped open her tablet to read. It would be a while till the matches; she may as well catch up on the news.

The Defense of Yōko ~ Heiwa (Part 1)

All across the normally quiet Port Piccolo the sounds of heavy excavation could be heard from the nearby Ohea Mines. Ever since the United Nations had convened, the Mines had been working overtime to produce the raw materials needed for the manufacturing facilities on Elurra Island, which were creating armor for the Pokémon that were to be doing battle with Mewtwo's army of clones. Although the locals were a bit disgruntled, they understood. If Yōko were to fall, surely Mewtwo would set its sights on Heiwa.

In the north, on Elurra Island, the large factories were once again working at maximum output. Ships traveled between the island and the south (and Port Piccolo), laden with raw materials and finished products. Typically used for assorted goods, the factories were all solely focused on producing as much armor as they could. Based off of a traditional Dúlran design, it was lightweight and flexible. Perfect for Pokémon of any type. Flocks of armor-plated Pidgeot could be seen patrolling the skies, prepared in case the armies of Mewtwo decided to drop by for a "visit."

...Meanwhile, Emmeline flew on the back of her Dragonite, aiming for the top of Mt. Sumendi. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and she was about to take a great risk...

The Defense of Yōko ~ Heiwa (Part 2)

...Meanwhile, Emmeline flew on the back of her Dragonite, aiming for the top of Mt. Sumendi. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and she was about to take a great risk...

Standing atop Mt. Sumendi, Emmeline knew what she had to do. Reaching into the small bag by her waist, she brought out a simple wooden flute. Although it appeared rather nondescript, Emmeline knew better, for this flute had been passed down in her family for generations. Bringing it to her lips, she played a song that she had been practicing her whole life...

Spoiler:

...

...

Time seemed to freeze as she played, the haunting melody reaching all parts of the mountain. As she drew to a finish, the very air itself began to grow hotter. It seems her plea for help had been answered. One might expect that the appearance of a Legendary Pokémon would be met fantastical, a show of the creature's sheer power. However, this was not the case. Moltres appeared before Emmeline, flapping its wings of fire, and filling her heart with warmth. The legendary knew the circumstances, and was more than willing to help the woman in her desire to save the world from this force of evil.

Bowing its head once, Moltres flew up into the sky, disappearing in its clouds. Emmeline smiled. When the time came, Moltres would be ready. Calling out her Dragonite once more, Emmeline hopped on its back as Dragonite prepared to fly off. If Moltres was willing to help, then its brethren Articuno and Zapdos would surely be there too.

The support of the Legendary Birds now secured, Emmeline returned to Port Piccolo to join the ships as the final fleet set out for Yoko. It was time.

Why the fork not? Here goes nothing. :v

Name: Florent
Gender: Male
Trainer Class: Lorekeeper
Pokémon: Volcarona, Roserade, Florges, Ludicolo, Leavanny, Heracross (Mega)
Additional Details: Because I am an over achiever
Spoiler:
Florent is a calm, perspective human being who had lived in the Heiwa Region for his entire life. He's smart, strong, and curteous. Though, he isn't exactly patient with others stupidity, especially if its concerning repeating himself. So he could mistakengly yell from time to time. He has a valued knowledged on the history of Heiwa and tasked himself with upholding the lore, passing it down to future generations of Pokémon trainers.

He likes Heiwa and takes pride in the region- even the very nature (he doesn't wear shoes... don't tell him I said that.) He especially adores Shaymin, the Pokémon he wishes to befriend/protect. During most of his days, Florent spends it just traveling- not really getting too involved. He keeps an eye out for aspiring trainers worthy enough for the lore of Heiwa's past and secrets to the legendary Pokémon. (Preferrably someone who has collected the 8 badges and has at least attempted to beat Emmeline).

In apperance, he wears a large and torn piece of grey cloth that almost acts as a robe or torn caoe around his neck. He has his black hair combed over to the right of his face, covering one of his two green eyes. Florent wears a white Henley shirt paired with his fitting, black jeans. No, he does not wear shoes, but as a result, his bare feet are well-built to either dry or wet Heiwian climate. On both ears are small silver gauges, about 5mm in size. And did I mention a Mega Bracelet on his right wrist. No? Well, he has one.

If you hadn't noticed about his team... it's VERY weak to a strong Flying type. I'd thought I'd tone down his power by making him weak to literally every legendary Pokémon avaliable in Heiwa :).

The Elite Four Showcase ~ Conclusion

Emmeline sighed as she looked over the recordings of the matches between her various Gym Leaders. Honestly, Mewtwo's attack had really derailed the showcase. But promoting a new Elite Four member would go a long way to assuring the people that they were safe, so here she was, watching the matches once again. Although Eleska had won the most matches, as soon as Mewtwo appeared she had disappeared. Emmeline suspected it had to do with the strength of Mewtwo's psychic power, but she couldn't have this quality in one of her members.

This left her with the next two: Brina and Alicia. Alicia has always been a somewhat quiet (if agreeable) Gym Leader, preferring to spend more time training and staying out of the public eye. But this tournament had proven that she was a force to be reckoned with. But could she be trusted to lead the people like her role required? And then there was Brina, who had been a Gym Leader longer than any other. Always an enthusiastic Leader, she has been at the center of a number of events in the region, and she was always around when needed. The choice was logical... the next Elite Four member is...

Congratulations to Eleska for Winning the Showcase!

Welcome to the Elite Four, Brina!

The trainer system has been updated. Newer version here. The old system has been left in spoilers for archival stuff.

Spoiler:

Explore Heiwa ~ The Trainer System

Introduction

So you're a member of the region. Now what? Well, the Trainer System brings a bit of a role-playing aspect to the region. Your character will start as a novice trainer in the town of your choice. Depending on the town, you'll have different starter Pokémon available to you. From there, every week (the time frame is up for debate), you will be able to do various actions, such as training your team, traveling, and battling Gym Leaders. You will also be able to challenge your fellow trainers as often as you like (although abuse of this will mean I'll have to impose a limit).

The Map

Below is a map of the region (hover over various locations to see their names). Beginning trainers may start in any town except Vittoria City.

Locations

Information about locations will be revealed as trainers discover them!

Starter Pokémon

A beginning trainer will have a choice of one of a few Pokémon, which will change depending on which city they would like to start in. A new trainer has the choice to [receive] a starter Pokémon at level 5, and may start right away. Alternatively, they may choose to spend their weekly action for the chance to [catch] a rare and/or stronger Pokémon. Of course, this second option is not without risk, because they may just end up getting a weaker Pokémon instead.

Weekly Actions

Once a week, you may submit a series of actions to me (either by posting on the thread or through Skype) detailing what you wish to do. You are not required to actually role-play the action (although it is encouraged). Simply posting the actual action is sufficient. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I will make posts describing the results. On top of generic actions like training and capturing Pokémon, there are specific actions that may only be done in specific locations.

There are two types of actions: quick actions and final actions. Quick actions can be done as many times as a trainer wants in a week (the results of which will be shown on Saturday). Final actions are actions that may only be three times per week (one per update), and they must all be unique each week.

Generic Final Actions

[train team]: Depending on the Pokémon in your team, they will gain experience and level up according to their growth rate. Pokémon will also automatically evolve unless you specifically state otherwise, or they are holding an Everstone.

[catch] a Pokémon: Depending on your current location, you have two choices when it comes to catching a Pokémon: you may catch a specific Pokémon, or you may catch a random Pokémon. Catching a specific Pokémon is much more likely to fail than capturing a random Pokémon, but allows you to specify exactly (within reason) what you are looking for. Doing so will consume at least one Poké Ball, more if you're unlucky.

[observe] wild Pokémon: Once again changing depending on location, you may chose to observe (potentially) all wild Pokémon in your current location in order to add them to your Pokédex. Observing Pokémon in an area will also make local Pokémon more friendly towards the trainer, and the chances of capturing a rare and/or specific one will increase the next week.

[travel]: You may travel to any location connected to your current one on the map. For example, if I was in Primaria City I would have the option to [travel] either East or South to the Routes there.

[challenge] a Gym Leader: If your character is in an appropriate city, they may challenge the local Gym Leader for a battle. Battles can be conducted either on Pokémon Showdown using official teams (meaning levels and species match those of the characters), or may be decided semi-randomly by myself (for those that don't have time to meet and battle). All battles that are to be decided through Showdown must be completed by midnight Saturday (EST) in order to count.

Location Specific Final Actions

These will be revealed as necessary! :)

Generic Quick Actions

[swap] Pokémon: If you are in a city, you may freely swap Pokémon on your team and in the PC.

[give]/[use] an item: You may freely give or use an item on Pokémon or yourself. Please do not spam this or a limit will be imposed on this.

[buy] something: If you are in the same location as a known vendor, you may purchase something given you have enough funds for it.

[battle] a fellow Trainer: You may battle other trainers as often as you like, either in Pokémon Showdown or through my own semi-random decision. Doing so can result in both side's Pokémon growing stronger (with less returns that training). However, the losing trainer will be required to pay out an amount equivalent to the trainer's highest level Pokémon x http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/8c/Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png20 to the victor. In order for a battle to be official, both trainers must post that they will [battle] and specify the format. If it is to be through Showdown, a link to a replay must be posted as well. Trainers that abuse this action will be removed from participation.

Performing an Action

In order to perform an action, either message me on Skype or add post (in this exact format):
Code:

[b][action] [target -- only if necessary][/b]

For example, if I wanted to capture a Lotad (and I met the requirements), I would write:
[catch] Lotad
If I wanted to battle a fellow trainer named Bill (and he agreed to the challenge) I would write:
[battle] Bill
(he would also have to put a matching challenge to make it official)

An example week might go like this (each week resets on Friday):

On Saturday, I [travel] to the Route West of Solitario Town.
On Sunday, I decide to feed my Pokémon a Lava Cookie (because why not)
On Monday, I find out that I have arrived. I decide to do nothing.
On Tuesday, I decide to [observe] wild Pokémon.
On Wednesday, I find out what I've observed. I decided to do nothing.
On Thursday, I decided to [train] my team. I also feed my Pokémon a Potion.
On Friday, I find out how the training went. The week resets.

Gyms and Contests

There are 8 Official Gyms to be Challenged throughout Heiwa, covering a range of types. They can be challenged in any order, and the strength of a Leader's team will depend on the number of badges that a player has. Once all 8 badges have been obtained Leaders can be re-matched as often as a trainer wants to, but there will be no special reward for doing so (or is there?).

Pokémon Contests are still being developed, so check back soon. :)

The Pokédex

All beginning trainers start with a Heiwaian Regional Pokédex. One of the challenges for a trainer is to discover every Pokémon that they can within the region. Doing so will surely lead to good things. Currently, there are 200 known Pokémon within the region, although the actual number is unknown. Although many Pokémon can be found through observation, some will only be found by battling trainers.

Trainers that manage to find see Pokémon in the Regional Pokédex will receive a National Pokédex, which has added features including a Pokémon Radar that enhances the trainer's ability to capture rare Pokémon.

Items & Money

The Bag

All beginning trainers start with a bag that can hold 20 items. As they obtain badges, their bag will be expanded. More information will be revealed when needed.

All trainers start with the following items:

5 Poké Balls
3 Potions

Money

Heiwa uses the standard Pokédollars for all monetary transactions. Beginning trainers start with http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/8c/Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png3000 that they can use for any purpose, including buying items from stores and paying other trainers for losses. Money can be obtained through winning battles, chance, or by working for various associations.

Trainer Ranking and Class

By exploring various locales, capturing specific Pokémon, obtaining badges, and much more, trainers can unlock various trainer classes and rankings. Trainer Classes are purely cosmetic titles that can be applied next to a trainer's name for bragging rights, while Trainer Rankings affect various actions (you'll have to wait and see).

Here is a list of known classes. The ways to unlock them will be revealed as trainers progress.

Known Trainer Classes

Novice ~ Become a trainer

Youngster ~ Be male, and catch your first Pokémon
Lass ~ Be female, and catch your first Pokémon
Swimmer ~ Go for a swim

Pokémon Trainer ~ Earn 8 Gym Badges
Gym Leader ~ Become a Gym Leader
Elite Four ~ Become a member of the Elite Four
Champion ~ Technically unobtainable -- become the Champion
Pokémon Master ~ Do everything there is to do in Heiwa

Shopkeeper ~ Own a shop

Cerian ~ Be from Ceriah -or- Join a Cerian organization

Badges & Ribbons

Badges are medallions won through official battles with Gym Leaders. When a trainer has earned all 8 Badges, they become eligible to participate in the League Tournament and if they prove victorious (or are judged worthy) they will be given the chance to battle the Elite Four and ultimately the Champion.

Ribbons are similar to Badges, except they are obtained through competing in Pokémon Contests throughout the region. Once a trainer has earned at least 5 Ribbons, they become eligible to participate in the Grand Festival. More information will be coming soon.

Like Trainer Classes, both Ribbons and Badges will be placed next to the name of trainers that have earned them.

Emblems

Another facet of the trainer ranking system are Trainer Emblems. Emblems, much like Badges, are essentially trophies won in various tournaments and competitions hosted throughout the region. If you obtain one, it will be placed next to your name much like a Trainer Class can be.

Joining the System

So becoming a beginner trainer is actually rather simple. You've only got one requirement: being a member of the region. After that, you need only fill out the form and state your first action. Good luck!

Code:

[b]Trainer:[/b] name goes here
[b]Starting Location:[/b] any town except Vittoria City
[b]Starter:[/b] make a choice or put "random"

Policy for Gym Leaders and Elite Four

Gym Leaders and Elite Four (including those that join later on) will have two teams. The team they use during their travels and unofficial battles, and their "official" tam that does not change (without consulting with me) that they use against challengers. This means that Gym Leaders/Elite Four are free to travel as they please, just like any other member, but they are also responsible for accepting any challenges on the weekend.

Support Characters

Support Characters are players that do not actively participate in a number of the different actions. And example would be a character that runs a shop. Instead of traveling and training, they are responsible for managing their store. If you wish to be a support character, contact me and we can work things out. But essentially, you'll be a trainer that does not battle and has other special actions.

Trainer: Bree
Starting Location: Solitario Town
Starter: Azurill

Bree was ready to run away.

Well, not run away exactly. Her dad knew she was going. Mr Garnet would be in correspondence with her about her work for the Herald. Her mom would find out when she came back from this month's work. But she was completely done with this town after all her fifteen years living here. The horrible people who had bullied her since childhood, the expectations of her mother to take up the family work, the backwards opinions of most of the townsfolk- she needed to be free.

Zazzle balanced on her shoulder as she turned around to contemplate Solitario for what she expected would be the last time in a while. It was't a bad town- it was quiet, with nice weather, quaint buildings... the people were kind to one another, mostly... but with her, they clashed. She hated it. She really, really wanted to like her hometown, she just couldn't. Not right now.

Her dad didn't understand, though he did try. Nor her mom; she was always working or forcing Bree to be someone she didn't want to be. She didn't really have anyone else to talk to, either, besides Adrienne. And she was all the way in Saann now, pursuing her dreams of being a top Coordinator.

It was time for Bree to start working on her own dreams.

She [traveled] west.

Two months had past sense Mimi had lost his family. The consecutive disasters had left him the lone caretaker of the Matters' family ranch. Mimi was scrapping by with only enough money to eat. Mimi had sold off all the remaining livestock just to keep the farm, a rather rash mistake that would have forced him into bankruptcy in the long run. However, one morning a package arrived marked for his deceased mother, inside was 5 Pokéballs. The package contained 4 Pokémon and a Ditto, something his mother had ordered before her demise; she had been a renowned breeder in her time. Fate had given Mimi a second chance, and it was time to turn things around.

Trainer: Laure
Starting Location: Loreak City
Starter: Flebebe

It was a fall day, complete with a cool, gentle breeze just strong enough to sweep the leaves off the trees. Not a cloud in the sky, it was a perfect day for a hike. Outside Loreak City stood the behemoth Mt. Loreak complete with its winding trails and caverns it was a tempting spot for both locals and tourists. Panning back to Loreak, a woman 19 years of age, finishes packing and zips up her travel bag. This woman is Laure, lifelong resident of Loreak City who is scarcely seen without her flebebe and some form of hiking gear. Her bag was extra weighted today; this would be no ordinary hike. She had no intention of coming back to Loreak; at least for quite some time. Laure had a mystery to solve; something that she felt only her and herself alone could get to the bottom of. She [Traveled] east, to Mt. Loreak in hopes of finding her first clue.

Noah looked at his new Trapinch, resting in his arms as they walked around Sumendi Town. After observing the Pokemon around him on the way back to the settlement, he decided that he wanted to [catch] a Fletchling. But where?

The original one had come to his sight around the outskirts. That would probably be the best place to start. Eventually, it happened near the volcano - Noah spotted a group of Fletchling chirping to eachother, sitting on a ledge. Trapinch had awoken by then, and seemed just as enthusiastic for his first battle under his new Trainer. Would he be getting a teammate?

---

After it all, Noah decided to [travel] south to Route C.

Exploring Heiwa - Rule Update

So there has been a change to the way actions are handled. From now on there will be three types of actions, instead of two.
  1. Final Actions
  2. Travel Actions
  3. Quick Actions
Like before, Final Actions are actions that you can only make once per update, and include various time-consuming activities such as [observe] and [catch]. Likewise, Quick Actions are things you can do in a few minutes, and include such activities as [buy]-ing an item or [battle]-ing a fellow trainer.

The new action, Travel Actions, work much like Final Actions in that they can only be made once per update. However, Travel Actions are like the name implies: traveling. What this means for players is that you may now travel once per phase on top of doing a Final Action (and as many Quick Actions as you want).

I hope this helps with the concerns about the speed of travel! :)

Bree swam lazily through the warm waters of Route A, Zazzle bobbing along with her. She had always been a strong swimmer. Most Heiwaians were good in the water, being taught from an early age how to handle themselves in the oceans that surrounded them. Besides that, swimming was freeing- her weirdly tall and muscular body felt less cumbersome in the water, more graceful.

She took a deeper breath and dived down toward the reefs, watching the water dwellers flit about their business. Maybe it would be good to [train] Zazzle here, where everything was pleasant and unstressful. She was still little, after all- best to introduce her to proper training slowly.

Bree came up for air and found Zazzle turned away from her, distracted. She flicked water at the little one and smiled. "You ready to work out a bit, Zazz?"

-

A few fishermen recognized Bree as she instructed Zazzle on a little beach. They were friends of her father, and like all friends of fathers, they remembered when she was just thiiiis tall and assured her she had grown into a fine young woman. The group shared a picnic lunch with her and sat around chatting until Bree politely took her leave. It felt a little bit weird to randomly hang out with her dad's friends.

She slipped back into the water, Zazzle sliding off her shoulder as the pair were submerged. They were nearly at the end of Route A already. Time to [travel] on to Route B. She'd never been this far from home, and it was a little anxiety-inducing to not know what would lie ahead.

Thomas ???
Age: 16
Skin Color: Caucasian
Hair and Eye Color: Very Dark Brown

Current Task: Wantin that Ponyta.

History: Thomas was born in Olivine City, Johto. All his life he loved Pokémon, and always wanted to become a Pokémon trainer. That is, until Kai became a well-known and popular trainer. He was constantly compared to him because they looked and acted very similar. They were even born in the same city, which made it even worse. He pursued other occupations even though he didn't enjoy it, only because he didn't want to be Kai. When he mysteriously left, he though he could finally become a trainer, and that people wouldn't compare him to Kai anymore. But he was never forgotten in Olivine, and people never stopped comparing them. Finally he left to try to get away from everyone, so that he would be compared to himself and not anyone else.

Personality: Calm and Careful, he doesn't let his emotions get the better of him. He is also kind to others, but since his mind is analytical and often takes the direct approach with words rather than the diplomatic approach, he is sometimes seen as rude. He is also known to be an Introvert.

Their first real battle had been too quick to contemplate.

Another swimmer had popped out of nowhere with her Luvdisc, shouting a challenge, and Zazzle had reacted by slamming her tail in its face a few times. Bree apologized profusely to the offended girl as she received the prize money and swam away quickly. Hopefully she'd forget about the incident if they ever met again.

---

Their second battle came the next day while they were [training]. A girl nervously faced them with her new little Nincada. Zazzle, still in the zone from training, immediately rushed it with a full-body slam and knocked it out. Bree found herself apologising again as she collected her prize, but the girl was much more cheerful than the swimmer had been and seemed disappointed but okay with the outcome.

---

Five days after the second battle, Bree could finally see Ombra Town in the distance. What had started out as a nice swim had turned into an exhausting and dehydrating trek. Longer breaks were coming more often, nightly stops starting earlier and setting out again later. For once in her life, she couldn't wait to get out of the water for a while. The [travel] was so much more arduous than she ever had anticipated; she almost wanted to go home... but no. Ombra was right there; she could have better food and a nice bed for a few nights. She was on her way to becoming a ranger, and she wasn't going to turn back.

Maybe you should have used a boat. I heard they had a lot in Heiwa. Surprisingly though, they all seem to be in certain areas and can only go to certain places. Convenience at its finest : ).

P.S: Lost, please add my update. I must know if my life goal (catching that ponyta) is complete.

Aquacorde October 6th, 2015 8:27 PM

It had been nearly 2 weeks since Laure left Loreak city. She stood at the peak of Mt. Loreak, both her floral hometown and the humble Vivre city could be seen from this height. It was quiet and tranquil, that is until Laure heard her Budew, Rosia, thrashing over by the camp - compiled of a small green tarp, her sleeping bag, and some rocks and twigs to keep the tarp from smothering them in the night. Laure glanced at her makeshift camp, expecting to see Rosia guiltlessly tearing down the tent for the 3rd time this evening. It was like a game to Rose, as if it were some deranged form of 52-pickup. This time however, Rosia was tugging at a book; Laure wiped the sweat beads from her forehead and sat beside her. It was her journal, one she had neglected this entire trip until this point. Laure was a private investigator in search of new leads on a missing person. The missing person was Maxwell Matters, a respected and world renowned Pokémon rancher. Laure opened the book; the front page read “Evidence” followed by a complete set of sad, empty pages. Perhaps it was time to write she thought to herself as she reached into her bag for her pen.

Spoiler: Journal

My journey thus far has concluded no evidence relevant Maxwell’s disappearance. The validity of local reports stating Mount Loreak had been home to suspicious activity last winter seems flaky at best. On route L I spoke to local authorities who agreed to compile search teams to survey the twisting caverns. However despite all this, my trip up the mountain has not been in vain. Along with my newfound little investigator and friend Rosia I have also had time to devise a sound strategy. I will be [Travelling east] to the Matters’ Farmstead. 10/9/--

As Laure finished the writing a single Swablu perched onto her makeshift tent, causing it to collapse. Unfazed by the sudden sound, Rose began to tug away at the tarp. "It seems to be a match made in heaven" she thought to herself as she proceeded to [catch] the Swablu.

Current Location: Loreak City
Team:
  • Flabébé (9)
  • Nincada (5)

For some reason the Nincada were particularly difficult to find, but in the end you managed to catch one! Unfortunately, you used up four of your Poké Balls in the process... While you were battling various wild Pokémon during the hunt, your Flabébé managed to grow to level 9, and you even saw some rare Combee!

Bree

  • Budew (7)
Money: 円3090
Bag:

However, your team worked so hard to capture that Swablu that it grew by one level!

After your failure, you left Mt. Loreak and have reached the Vivre Fields. Visible on the multiple farms are a number of Miltank and Ponyta.

You have reached Mt. Loreak, and are standing at the entrance. Around you, you don't see much. It seems the farms on this side don't attract too many Pokémon to the cave entrance.
Good news is the heat from your new acquired Ponyta encouraged your Togepi to hatch, and as soon as you arrived it broke out of its shell (sorta).

  • Vanillite (8)

You have reached the entrance to the Ohea Mines. During your observation of the wildlife you noticed some Roggenrola and Timburr wandering about the mines, and some Cottonee floating through the air.
