The Defense of Yōko ~ Heiwa (Part 1)

All across the normally quiet Port Piccolo the sounds of heavy excavation could be heard from the nearby Ohea Mines. Ever since the United Nations had convened, the Mines had been working overtime to produce the raw materials needed for the manufacturing facilities on Elurra Island, which were creating armor for the Pokémon that were to be doing battle with Mewtwo's army of clones. Although the locals were a bit disgruntled, they understood. If Yōko were to fall, surely Mewtwo would set its sights on Heiwa.

In the north, on Elurra Island, the large factories were once again working at maximum output. Ships traveled between the island and the south (and Port Piccolo), laden with raw materials and finished products. Typically used for assorted goods, the factories were all solely focused on producing as much armor as they could. Based off of a traditional Dúlran design, it was lightweight and flexible. Perfect for Pokémon of any type. Flocks of armor-plated Pidgeot could be seen patrolling the skies, prepared in case the armies of Mewtwo decided to drop by for a "visit."

...Meanwhile, Emmeline flew on the back of her Dragonite, aiming for the top of Mt. Sumendi. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and she was about to take a great risk...

Well, I'm not really accepting Gym Leader applications. I'll be selecting future Gym Leaders from the group of active members.
If you still want to be part of Heiwa, I can make you a regular trainer. :)

The Defense of Yōko ~ Heiwa (Part 2)

...Meanwhile, Emmeline flew on the back of her Dragonite, aiming for the top of Mt. Sumendi. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and she was about to take a great risk...

Standing atop Mt. Sumendi, Emmeline knew what she had to do. Reaching into the small bag by her waist, she brought out a simple wooden flute. Although it appeared rather nondescript, Emmeline knew better, for this flute had been passed down in her family for generations. Bringing it to her lips, she played a song that she had been practicing her whole life...

Spoiler:

...

...

Time seemed to freeze as she played, the haunting melody reaching all parts of the mountain. As she drew to a finish, the very air itself began to grow hotter. It seems her plea for help had been answered. One might expect that the appearance of a Legendary Pokémon would be met fantastical, a show of the creature's sheer power. However, this was not the case. Moltres appeared before Emmeline, flapping its wings of fire, and filling her heart with warmth. The legendary knew the circumstances, and was more than willing to help the woman in her desire to save the world from this force of evil.

Bowing its head once, Moltres flew up into the sky, disappearing in its clouds. Emmeline smiled. When the time came, Moltres would be ready. Calling out her Dragonite once more, Emmeline hopped on its back as Dragonite prepared to fly off. If Moltres was willing to help, then its brethren Articuno and Zapdos would surely be there too.

The support of the Legendary Birds now secured, Emmeline returned to Port Piccolo to join the ships as the final fleet set out for Yoko. It was time.

Why the fork not? Here goes nothing. :v

Name: Florent
Gender: Male
Trainer Class: Lorekeeper
Pokémon: Volcarona, Roserade, Florges, Ludicolo, Leavanny, Heracross (Mega)
Additional Details: Because I am an over achiever
Spoiler:
Florent is a calm, perspective human being who had lived in the Heiwa Region for his entire life. He's smart, strong, and curteous. Though, he isn't exactly patient with others stupidity, especially if its concerning repeating himself. So he could mistakengly yell from time to time. He has a valued knowledged on the history of Heiwa and tasked himself with upholding the lore, passing it down to future generations of Pokémon trainers.

He likes Heiwa and takes pride in the region- even the very nature (he doesn't wear shoes... don't tell him I said that.) He especially adores Shaymin, the Pokémon he wishes to befriend/protect. During most of his days, Florent spends it just traveling- not really getting too involved. He keeps an eye out for aspiring trainers worthy enough for the lore of Heiwa's past and secrets to the legendary Pokémon. (Preferrably someone who has collected the 8 badges and has at least attempted to beat Emmeline).

In apperance, he wears a large and torn piece of grey cloth that almost acts as a robe or torn caoe around his neck. He has his black hair combed over to the right of his face, covering one of his two green eyes. Florent wears a white Henley shirt paired with his fitting, black jeans. No, he does not wear shoes, but as a result, his bare feet are well-built to either dry or wet Heiwian climate. On both ears are small silver gauges, about 5mm in size. And did I mention a Mega Bracelet on his right wrist. No? Well, he has one.

If you hadn't noticed about his team... it's VERY weak to a strong Flying type. I'd thought I'd tone down his power by making him weak to literally every legendary Pokémon avaliable in Heiwa :).

The Elite Four Showcase ~ Conclusion

Emmeline sighed as she looked over the recordings of the matches between her various Gym Leaders. Honestly, Mewtwo's attack had really derailed the showcase. But promoting a new Elite Four member would go a long way to assuring the people that they were safe, so here she was, watching the matches once again. Although Eleska had won the most matches, as soon as Mewtwo appeared she had disappeared. Emmeline suspected it had to do with the strength of Mewtwo's psychic power, but she couldn't have this quality in one of her members.

This left her with the next two: Brina and Alicia. Alicia has always been a somewhat quiet (if agreeable) Gym Leader, preferring to spend more time training and staying out of the public eye. But this tournament had proven that she was a force to be reckoned with. But could she be trusted to lead the people like her role required? And then there was Brina, who had been a Gym Leader longer than any other. Always an enthusiastic Leader, she has been at the center of a number of events in the region, and she was always around when needed. The choice was logical... the next Elite Four member is...

Congratulations to Eleska for Winning the Showcase!

Welcome to the Elite Four, Brina!

Awan2407 September 27th, 2015 8:57 AM

Congratulations Brina and also Eleska! :D

The trainer system has been updated. Newer version here. The old system has been left in spoilers for archival stuff.

Spoiler:

Explore Heiwa ~ The Trainer System

Introduction

So you're a member of the region. Now what? Well, the Trainer System brings a bit of a role-playing aspect to the region. Your character will start as a novice trainer in the town of your choice. Depending on the town, you'll have different starter Pokémon available to you. From there, every week (the time frame is up for debate), you will be able to do various actions, such as training your team, traveling, and battling Gym Leaders. You will also be able to challenge your fellow trainers as often as you like (although abuse of this will mean I'll have to impose a limit).

The Map

Below is a map of the region (hover over various locations to see their names). Beginning trainers may start in any town except Vittoria City.

Locations

Information about locations will be revealed as trainers discover them!

Starter Pokémon

A beginning trainer will have a choice of one of a few Pokémon, which will change depending on which city they would like to start in. A new trainer has the choice to [receive] a starter Pokémon at level 5, and may start right away. Alternatively, they may choose to spend their weekly action for the chance to [catch] a rare and/or stronger Pokémon. Of course, this second option is not without risk, because they may just end up getting a weaker Pokémon instead.

Choices by Starting Location

Weekly Actions

Once a week, you may submit a series of actions to me (either by posting on the thread or through Skype) detailing what you wish to do. You are not required to actually role-play the action (although it is encouraged). Simply posting the actual action is sufficient. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I will make posts describing the results. On top of generic actions like training and capturing Pokémon, there are specific actions that may only be done in specific locations.

There are two types of actions: quick actions and final actions. Quick actions can be done as many times as a trainer wants in a week (the results of which will be shown on Saturday). Final actions are actions that may only be three times per week (one per update), and they must all be unique each week.

Generic Final Actions

[train team]: Depending on the Pokémon in your team, they will gain experience and level up according to their growth rate. Pokémon will also automatically evolve unless you specifically state otherwise, or they are holding an Everstone.

[catch] a Pokémon: Depending on your current location, you have two choices when it comes to catching a Pokémon: you may catch a specific Pokémon, or you may catch a random Pokémon. Catching a specific Pokémon is much more likely to fail than capturing a random Pokémon, but allows you to specify exactly (within reason) what you are looking for. Doing so will consume at least one Poké Ball, more if you're unlucky.

[observe] wild Pokémon: Once again changing depending on location, you may chose to observe (potentially) all wild Pokémon in your current location in order to add them to your Pokédex. Observing Pokémon in an area will also make local Pokémon more friendly towards the trainer, and the chances of capturing a rare and/or specific one will increase the next week.

[travel]: You may travel to any location connected to your current one on the map. For example, if I was in Primaria City I would have the option to [travel] either East or South to the Routes there.

[challenge] a Gym Leader: If your character is in an appropriate city, they may challenge the local Gym Leader for a battle. Battles can be conducted either on Pokémon Showdown using official teams (meaning levels and species match those of the characters), or may be decided semi-randomly by myself (for those that don't have time to meet and battle). All battles that are to be decided through Showdown must be completed by midnight Saturday (EST) in order to count.

Location Specific Final Actions

These will be revealed as necessary! :)

Generic Quick Actions

[swap] Pokémon: If you are in a city, you may freely swap Pokémon on your team and in the PC.

[give]/[use] an item: You may freely give or use an item on Pokémon or yourself. Please do not spam this or a limit will be imposed on this.

[buy] something: If you are in the same location as a known vendor, you may purchase something given you have enough funds for it.

[battle] a fellow Trainer: You may battle other trainers as often as you like, either in Pokémon Showdown or through my own semi-random decision. Doing so can result in both side's Pokémon growing stronger (with less returns that training). However, the losing trainer will be required to pay out an amount equivalent to the trainer's highest level Pokémon x http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/8c/Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png20 to the victor. In order for a battle to be official, both trainers must post that they will [battle] and specify the format. If it is to be through Showdown, a link to a replay must be posted as well. Trainers that abuse this action will be removed from participation.

Performing an Action

In order to perform an action, either message me on Skype or add post (in this exact format):
Code:

[b][action] [target -- only if necessary][/b]

For example, if I wanted to capture a Lotad (and I met the requirements), I would write:
[catch] Lotad
If I wanted to battle a fellow trainer named Bill (and he agreed to the challenge) I would write:
[battle] Bill
(he would also have to put a matching challenge to make it official)

An example week might go like this (each week resets on Friday):

On Saturday, I [travel] to the Route West of Solitario Town.
On Sunday, I decide to feed my Pokémon a Lava Cookie (because why not)
On Monday, I find out that I have arrived. I decide to do nothing.
On Tuesday, I decide to [observe] wild Pokémon.
On Wednesday, I find out what I've observed. I decided to do nothing.
On Thursday, I decided to [train] my team. I also feed my Pokémon a Potion.
On Friday, I find out how the training went. The week resets.

Gyms and Contests

There are 8 Official Gyms to be Challenged throughout Heiwa, covering a range of types. They can be challenged in any order, and the strength of a Leader's team will depend on the number of badges that a player has. Once all 8 badges have been obtained Leaders can be re-matched as often as a trainer wants to, but there will be no special reward for doing so (or is there?).

Pokémon Contests are still being developed, so check back soon. :)

The Pokédex

All beginning trainers start with a Heiwaian Regional Pokédex. One of the challenges for a trainer is to discover every Pokémon that they can within the region. Doing so will surely lead to good things. Currently, there are 200 known Pokémon within the region, although the actual number is unknown. Although many Pokémon can be found through observation, some will only be found by battling trainers.

Trainers that manage to find see Pokémon in the Regional Pokédex will receive a National Pokédex, which has added features including a Pokémon Radar that enhances the trainer's ability to capture rare Pokémon.

Items & Money

The Bag

All beginning trainers start with a bag that can hold 20 items. As they obtain badges, their bag will be expanded. More information will be revealed when needed.

All trainers start with the following items:

5 Poké Balls
3 Potions

Money

Heiwa uses the standard Pokédollars for all monetary transactions. Beginning trainers start with http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/8c/Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png3000 that they can use for any purpose, including buying items from stores and paying other trainers for losses. Money can be obtained through winning battles, chance, or by working for various associations.

Trainer Ranking and Class

By exploring various locales, capturing specific Pokémon, obtaining badges, and much more, trainers can unlock various trainer classes and rankings. Trainer Classes are purely cosmetic titles that can be applied next to a trainer's name for bragging rights, while Trainer Rankings affect various actions (you'll have to wait and see).

Here is a list of known classes. The ways to unlock them will be revealed as trainers progress.

Known Trainer Classes

Novice ~ Become a trainer

Youngster ~ Be male, and catch your first Pokémon
Lass ~ Be female, and catch your first Pokémon
Swimmer ~ Go for a swim

Pokémon Trainer ~ Earn 8 Gym Badges
Gym Leader ~ Become a Gym Leader
Elite Four ~ Become a member of the Elite Four
Champion ~ Technically unobtainable -- become the Champion
Pokémon Master ~ Do everything there is to do in Heiwa

Shopkeeper ~ Own a shop

Cerian ~ Be from Ceriah -or- Join a Cerian organization

Badges & Ribbons

Badges are medallions won through official battles with Gym Leaders. When a trainer has earned all 8 Badges, they become eligible to participate in the League Tournament and if they prove victorious (or are judged worthy) they will be given the chance to battle the Elite Four and ultimately the Champion.

Ribbons are similar to Badges, except they are obtained through competing in Pokémon Contests throughout the region. Once a trainer has earned at least 5 Ribbons, they become eligible to participate in the Grand Festival. More information will be coming soon.

Like Trainer Classes, both Ribbons and Badges will be placed next to the name of trainers that have earned them.

Emblems

Another facet of the trainer ranking system are Trainer Emblems. Emblems, much like Badges, are essentially trophies won in various tournaments and competitions hosted throughout the region. If you obtain one, it will be placed next to your name much like a Trainer Class can be.

Joining the System

So becoming a beginner trainer is actually rather simple. You've only got one requirement: being a member of the region. After that, you need only fill out the form and state your first action. Good luck!

Code:

[b]Trainer:[/b] name goes here
[b]Starting Location:[/b] any town except Vittoria City
[b]Starter:[/b] make a choice or put "random"

Policy for Gym Leaders and Elite Four

Gym Leaders and Elite Four (including those that join later on) will have two teams. The team they use during their travels and unofficial battles, and their "official" tam that does not change (without consulting with me) that they use against challengers. This means that Gym Leaders/Elite Four are free to travel as they please, just like any other member, but they are also responsible for accepting any challenges on the weekend.

Support Characters

Support Characters are players that do not actively participate in a number of the different actions. And example would be a character that runs a shop. Instead of traveling and training, they are responsible for managing their store. If you wish to be a support character, contact me and we can work things out. But essentially, you'll be a trainer that does not battle and has other special actions.

Trainer: Bree
Starting Location: Solitario Town
Starter: Azurill

Bree was ready to run away.

Well, not run away exactly. Her dad knew she was going. Mr Garnet would be in correspondence with her about her work for the Herald. Her mom would find out when she came back from this month's work. But she was completely done with this town after all her fifteen years living here. The horrible people who had bullied her since childhood, the expectations of her mother to take up the family work, the backwards opinions of most of the townsfolk- she needed to be free.

Zazzle balanced on her shoulder as she turned around to contemplate Solitario for what she expected would be the last time in a while. It was't a bad town- it was quiet, with nice weather, quaint buildings... the people were kind to one another, mostly... but with her, they clashed. She hated it. She really, really wanted to like her hometown, she just couldn't. Not right now.

Her dad didn't understand, though he did try. Nor her mom; she was always working or forcing Bree to be someone she didn't want to be. She didn't really have anyone else to talk to, either, besides Adrienne. And she was all the way in Saann now, pursuing her dreams of being a top Coordinator.

It was time for Bree to start working on her own dreams.

She [traveled] west.

Two months had past sense Mimi had lost his family. The consecutive disasters had left him the lone caretaker of the Matters' family ranch. Mimi was scrapping by with only enough money to eat. Mimi had sold off all the remaining livestock just to keep the farm, a rather rash mistake that would have forced him into bankruptcy in the long run. However, one morning a package arrived marked for his deceased mother, inside was 5 Pokéballs. The package contained 4 Pokémon and a Ditto, something his mother had ordered before her demise; she had been a renowned breeder in her time. Fate had given Mimi a second chance, and it was time to turn things around.

Trainer: Laure
Starting Location: Loreak City
Starter: Flebebe

It was a fall day, complete with a cool, gentle breeze just strong enough to sweep the leaves off the trees. Not a cloud in the sky, it was a perfect day for a hike. Outside Loreak City stood the behemoth Mt. Loreak complete with its winding trails and caverns it was a tempting spot for both locals and tourists. Panning back to Loreak, a woman 19 years of age, finishes packing and zips up her travel bag. This woman is Laure, lifelong resident of Loreak City who is scarcely seen without her flebebe and some form of hiking gear. Her bag was extra weighted today; this would be no ordinary hike. She had no intention of coming back to Loreak; at least for quite some time. Laure had a mystery to solve; something that she felt only her and herself alone could get to the bottom of. She [Traveled] east, to Mt. Loreak in hopes of finding her first clue.

Noah looked at his new Trapinch, resting in his arms as they walked around Sumendi Town. After observing the Pokemon around him on the way back to the settlement, he decided that he wanted to [catch] a Fletchling. But where?

The original one had come to his sight around the outskirts. That would probably be the best place to start. Eventually, it happened near the volcano - Noah spotted a group of Fletchling chirping to eachother, sitting on a ledge. Trapinch had awoken by then, and seemed just as enthusiastic for his first battle under his new Trainer. Would he be getting a teammate?

---

After it all, Noah decided to [travel] south to Route C.

Exploring Heiwa - Rule Update

So there has been a change to the way actions are handled. From now on there will be three types of actions, instead of two.
  1. Final Actions
  2. Travel Actions
  3. Quick Actions
Like before, Final Actions are actions that you can only make once per update, and include various time-consuming activities such as [observe] and [catch]. Likewise, Quick Actions are things you can do in a few minutes, and include such activities as [buy]-ing an item or [battle]-ing a fellow trainer.

The new action, Travel Actions, work much like Final Actions in that they can only be made once per update. However, Travel Actions are like the name implies: traveling. What this means for players is that you may now travel once per phase on top of doing a Final Action (and as many Quick Actions as you want).

I hope this helps with the concerns about the speed of travel! :)

Bree swam lazily through the warm waters of Route A, Zazzle bobbing along with her. She had always been a strong swimmer. Most Heiwaians were good in the water, being taught from an early age how to handle themselves in the oceans that surrounded them. Besides that, swimming was freeing- her weirdly tall and muscular body felt less cumbersome in the water, more graceful.

She took a deeper breath and dived down toward the reefs, watching the water dwellers flit about their business. Maybe it would be good to [train] Zazzle here, where everything was pleasant and unstressful. She was still little, after all- best to introduce her to proper training slowly.

Bree came up for air and found Zazzle turned away from her, distracted. She flicked water at the little one and smiled. "You ready to work out a bit, Zazz?"

-

A few fishermen recognized Bree as she instructed Zazzle on a little beach. They were friends of her father, and like all friends of fathers, they remembered when she was just thiiiis tall and assured her she had grown into a fine young woman. The group shared a picnic lunch with her and sat around chatting until Bree politely took her leave. It felt a little bit weird to randomly hang out with her dad's friends.

She slipped back into the water, Zazzle sliding off her shoulder as the pair were submerged. They were nearly at the end of Route A already. Time to [travel] on to Route B. She'd never been this far from home, and it was a little anxiety-inducing to not know what would lie ahead.

Thomas ???
Age: 16
Skin Color: Caucasian
Hair and Eye Color: Very Dark Brown

Current Task: Wantin that Ponyta.

History: Thomas was born in Olivine City, Johto. All his life he loved Pokémon, and always wanted to become a Pokémon trainer. That is, until Kai became a well-known and popular trainer. He was constantly compared to him because they looked and acted very similar. They were even born in the same city, which made it even worse. He pursued other occupations even though he didn't enjoy it, only because he didn't want to be Kai. When he mysteriously left, he though he could finally become a trainer, and that people wouldn't compare him to Kai anymore. But he was never forgotten in Olivine, and people never stopped comparing them. Finally he left to try to get away from everyone, so that he would be compared to himself and not anyone else.

Personality: Calm and Careful, he doesn't let his emotions get the better of him. He is also kind to others, but since his mind is analytical and often takes the direct approach with words rather than the diplomatic approach, he is sometimes seen as rude. He is also known to be an Introvert.

Relationships:

Kai ??? - Unliked (Impersonally) http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=8884229&postcount=112 (Doesn't even know hes in the region)
