Petition: bring back the DCC

naw i'm just kidding

Have you ever signed a petition in your life? Irl or maybe online ones ala change.org, doesn't matter. What did you stand for? How did it pan out?

Alfieri July 23rd, 2015 3:48 PM

I signed a petition to bring J Stars Victory VS to the west. I doubt it had any effect but I now have my copy of a U.S. release of J Stars Victory VS+.

I actually created a petition at my high school. I was college captain and us senior students wanted proper Year 12 jumpers - not the ugly rugby tops the previous year had. Thus, I created a petition, got every student to sign it, wrote up proposals, drew up some designs, calculated costs and eventually, it got passed and we got what we wanted. Now they want to change it again which is annoying. All my hard work undone, but I doubt they'll get it through. The school rejected every single previous attempt at a change. A lot of the teachers mocked me and kept saying that "you'll never get it, I guarantee" but I eventually did so lol bye

I signed an online petition once about the legalization of same sex marriage!

Sonata July 23rd, 2015 4:32 PM

Once upon a time my Sophomore English/History teachers forced our entire class to sign a petition for something to do with peta. I don't even remember what it was, but about half of the emails I get now days are from peta but I'm too lazy to tell them to stop.

i've signed quite a few petitions but i wouldn't be able to name too many specific ones. i know i protested SOPA.. and whatever the other internet privacy intervention act was.

the rest were probably something to do with equality and injustice.

Esper July 23rd, 2015 9:04 PM

I think I've only ever signed petitions to get proposed laws up as ballots during elections, but I couldn't tell you what they were. Typical California hippie stuff, probably. Didn't really make me feel much of anything.

Of course since I've been old enough to vote I've either worked or lived outside of the county I'm registered in so I have a built-in excuse for not signing any petitions: "Sorry, I'm registered in another county."

Wicked3DS July 23rd, 2015 9:07 PM

Darn it I was coming to sign. Click-bait, reported.

Anyway, I've not really signed any petitions. I did one to defend Net Neutrality recently but that's all I can remember.

Tsutarja July 23rd, 2015 9:12 PM

I signed a petition last year to totally make national helix day a thing

Sylphiel July 23rd, 2015 9:26 PM

I don't remember for certain. Probably not. Can't usually be bothered to sign them.

Hikamaru July 23rd, 2015 9:57 PM

I never signed a petition, or at least I don't recall signing one.

Nolafus July 23rd, 2015 10:22 PM

I don't think I've ever signed a petition, but there have been quite a few people outside the store where I work asking for signatures. They don't bother me since I'm wearing my uniform, so I get to slip inside unscathed, perfect.

I signed a petition in high school that would get the principal fired. It actually did, goes to show how powerful a piece of paper with 3939702 signatures can do.

Was there actually close to 4,000,000 signatures to get the principle fired?

Bobbylicious July 23rd, 2015 11:31 PM

i signed a petition on change.org and then they started spamming me with emails every 5 mins so never again

principal*

& I'm not sure, that's just a random number I threw out, but since I lived in a giant suburb near LA I'm pretty sure we were at least a million.

Your typical assholic principal. he would make up stupid rules as an excuse to get students suspended for a week. For example, you can't go to the bathroom during class time and lunch.

Also, I got in trouble for entering school that "wasn't designated" for students. Got In-House Suspension for two days.

i laughed because this is really relatable.

like i could stop these emails if i logged into change.org and went into my settings but the question is.. can i stop being lazy long enough?

esperance July 24th, 2015 10:11 AM

I think the only petition I've ever signed was the online one by Google to stop SOPA a couple years ago... That was a thing right?

Zeffy July 24th, 2015 10:52 AM

i've signed online petitions a few years back, particularly one about SOPA

Nihilego July 24th, 2015 10:54 AM

I don't believe that petitions, particularly online ones which have no actual bearing in real life and are pure slacktivism on the part of the signatory, are an effective way of getting things done. If you really something to change then you can do so much more for your cause than writing your name on a bit of paper. So no I've not.

also I thought this was serious and had a "nope." post so ready

Nah July 24th, 2015 11:11 AM

ok good this wasn't really a petition

But I'm pretty sure I've never signed any. Do most petitions even do anything? Cuz it never really seemed like it to me.

Sir Codin July 24th, 2015 11:16 AM

Petitions don't do shit.

Proven fact. I signed one recently for Bernie Sanders to sit down and read an economics book. Judging by how much he keeps spewing his bullshit, the petition obviously didn't do anything.

this is why we can't have nice things

Captain Gizmo July 24th, 2015 2:21 PM

I signed a petition once for to get one of our teacher to get fired because half of the time he didn't know what the hell he was doing. A good guy, but a bad teacher.

We never seen him since the christmas break in 2014, and my class graduated after Christmas of 2015.

Yukari July 25th, 2015 5:40 AM

Guys we need to start a real petition to get the DCC back WHO'S WITH ME!

I think I have once but I can't remember what it was about.
