I've never heard of Wonder Trading Wednesdays! What's that all about? (Aside from the obvious!)

I used to Wonder Trade a lot, for the fun and to get the IDs for the Lottery, but I'm too scared to now after hearing horror stories of people's games getting corrupted!

Benamon September 1st, 2015 5:03 PM

I don't think I've ever had my game corrupted, is there something I didn't hear about?
I've wonder traded a ton and gotten some pretty sweet Pokemon out of it.

Rest assured, they aren't true. Those stories come from people, who try to scare people, so they stop WTing all these early game rodents. If there was an actual way to corrupt the save file through WTing, we'd know about it and more importantly, GF would be forced to do something about it.

i never use wonder trade so i don't know

Geltza September 4th, 2015 1:32 AM

I've been doing a play-through where I'm kind of role-playing within the roleplay and there was a part in the story where my character discovered wondertrade. So I went to wondertrade praying that I didn't get any of the starting route fodder, totally breaking the immersion! (Yes, I'm sad like that) and I ended up getting a level 17 Combusken. I picked Treecko as my starter so I was pleased with this. So I guess you still can get good things through it! Who sends a Combusken though? Haha. I mean level 1 Torchic or Level 100 Blaziken, but Combusken? Weird!

I think it's because of the lame offers Wonder Trade is not that popular.I usually use the Global Trade and it actually has pretty good offers(like a level 71 Mewtwo for a level 79 Mewtwo)

magicalgirlj September 23rd, 2015 4:34 PM

So far no problems wonder trading in my copy of Alpha Sapphire. I did a wonder trade today a little bit ago and got a Charmander from a guy in Portugal.

Giga Wurmple September 24th, 2015 12:14 AM

Been wondertrading a lot over the last few days. I've had maybe three "not found a trading partner"; about 50% of zigzagoons, poochyenas, caterpies and ralts; 50% other things, including some pokemon I have never encountered before. Wondertrade is certainly not dead.

Last night I got the same mix as above but also three shinies! Looks like Wondertrade Wednesdays is still going strong too!

Admison October 18th, 2015 6:28 PM

Wonder Trade has definitely died down a lot since it was first released. I used to never have the problem of not finding a problem, and even though it's only occasionally, sometimes I can go two or three times without a partner. I have to say, though, since Wonder Trade has died down, I've had a lot more luck finding some pretty cool Pokémon. I've even gotten a shiny once or twice. :)

DarkSkys October 18th, 2015 9:15 PM

Either I get what I'm looking for or Pokémon I don't need. Though, I did get a Dialga the other day which was a shock. But mostly I WT my breed jects hopefully getting something with egg moves.

Bounsweet November 15th, 2015 4:18 PM

Try using it on Wednesday. A lot of people do "Wonder Trade Wednesday" where they give out a lot of Pokémon who have been bred to have high IVs and even shinies, I think some people on Twitch even stream when they're WTing their shinies and whatnot too.

However, it's kinda expected to be used less as the amount of people playing Pokémon starts to dwindle. It'll pick up again when Z version (or whatever) gets released - even maybe when it's announced, since I know some people like to breed some Pokémon in preparation for a new game.

Firox November 15th, 2015 9:21 PM

I still use Wonder Trade - many repeated Pokemon I don't like I seem to get a lot, once in a while I'll get some with hilarious nicknames.

As for myself:
When I breed, the so called 'breed rejects' with bad natures & ability I don't WT, I just release them. Normally for me it's about 2/3rds of the eggs.
With my remainders, I'll breed an entire box - the ones with correct nature and ability - I will save 6 for GTS and the other 24 I will Wonder Trade, but I'll make sure to give them an item (such as a Full Restore).

Witchcraft November 15th, 2015 10:01 PM

I noticed it as well.
Now, I'm a night owl in the United States, so since most people in the US are asleep, it could be taking away from the population on Wonder Trade.
However, I've always been on the night schedule. And it's only recently that I've been getting long waits for a trade partner, so, yeah. I'd say WT is dying down.

Rourke November 16th, 2015 4:40 AM

Occasionally I just trade a lot of Pokemon I got two or more of. About 10 or so, and just see what it turns out to be. And I have to say it works pretty well for me usually. I got a lot of Pokemon that I didn't catch yet, and the waiting times are really acceptable (about 10-15 seconds). But I live in Europe, not sure if that makes a difference.

NinjaRaichu November 17th, 2015 12:48 PM

I dont think its dead, people have sent lame first route pokemon from since it started. But Wednesday's are the only days I really get anything decent.

The best time to wonder trade on a Wednesday is at the time big streamers/youtubers do theirs as people will send good Pokemon hoping they will get seen on stream. :)

Sopheria November 17th, 2015 6:23 PM

Hm, I can't speak from experience on this, since I don't Wondertrade often. But I do it from time to time, and I've never been unable to find traders. I think it's only natural it would go a bit dead in comparison to when OR/AS or X/Y first came out--there hasn't been much of anything new happening in the main series lately, so not as much people are playing them :c But, there's still Wondertrade Wednesdays which a lot of well-known Youtubers do, and it's not uncommon for avid breeders to send off their spare Pokemon via Wondertrade, so I'd say it's still alive and well :P

And like Hikari said, it's sure to pick up when Z comes out!

Mawa November 18th, 2015 1:11 PM

I am gonna trade soon, because I have to do a big clean up in my boxes. Last time I checked, I couldn't find a partner maybe like every 3 turns, but I tried again and then it worked. Maybe yeah you don't have as many stuff as before, but I don't think it is totally dead. I'm gonna trade my breeding projects so be prepare, Wonder Trade!

Grym21 November 29th, 2015 6:02 AM

Hmm, weird, never had a slow WT session.I've literally spent over a hundred hours in WT and I've gotten pokemon from your everyday normals to shiny legendaries. People say the best time to WT is a bit past midnight because Japan is active during that time and they trade the best pokemon. Most of my shinies seem to be from Japan.

Pendraflare November 29th, 2015 6:16 AM

Well I still get good stuff off of Wonder Trade (looks at getting two shinies on Thanksgiving), even if the garbage is abundant. Not to mention the aforementioned Wonder Trade Wednesdays, which Marriland has been streaming again. So i'm sure Wonder Trade won't be out of steam for a ways to go, even if right now it isn't in full swing.

Leviathan November 30th, 2015 2:47 AM

Dead you say? Hmm. Maybe I oughta see for myself. Never really used Wondertrade, but if it is dying down already, it's gonna be awkward getting rid of all these reject 'mons I have leftover from breeding.

Smiffy01 December 1st, 2015 8:32 AM

It doesn't seem dead to me, I mean I've had the game since release (28th Nov 2014) and ONLY JUST discovered wonder trading like two days ago haha, majority of traders seem to be from the US or japan, only found one person who traded and was in the UK like myself, I think its brilliant

Kaiyu December 1st, 2015 9:12 PM

Wonder Trade for me is active. I'm getting Pokémon from everywhere. Most of the time I'm getting Pokémon from either France or Italy. I rarely get Pokémon from Japan or Korea which I think is weird.

magicalgirlj December 3rd, 2015 3:36 PM

So far only in Pokemon X, I could not find a trade partner once. But when I did a WT in Alpha Sapphire a few hours later I did one with no problems

Katchelina December 5th, 2015 1:53 PM

I use wondertrade to clean out my boxes after breeding(ony pokemon with almost the ivs I wanted or with their hidden abilities, egg moves, never random early game pokes). I have gotten some shinies, legends, and good iv, nature, egg move pokemon that I often use later for my own breedig. If I get a good pokemon I don't need I'll wondertrade it again. I release all zigzagoon, poochyena, wurmple, froakie(so many starters in there in my experience). I rarely don't find a partner but I have occasionally had that issue even before Oras.
