Two Island Game Corner
In Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green had a game corner on Two Island where one could link up with a friend and play two mini games with each other.
My question is: Is it possible to be able to play those mini games on a hack by yourself, or is there any way to trick the game into letting you play by thinking you're connected? |
Not really. You could always try some serious reprogramming, but the games themselves are designed so that input from multiple players is required. Now, you can always create multiple save files and link between emulators locally if you're dead set on playing the mini-games, but you'd have to play the games all at once.

Hmmm, that's a bummer. They would have been fun on their own. Is there much known about how they're designed or how they function? I'm not giving up hope that it might be possible with a crap ton of effort/research quite yet.

Documentation of the mini games (on PC at least) is close to none, as far as I know. :(
It's one of those things that's not super popular among hackers, I guess, so nobody has bothered to post any information on here. |
I'll try to look into it further on my own time. By serious reprogramming, where do you suggest I begin with that?
|
It's really a rather complicated process in general. The first thing you'll want to look for is where in the ROM the code for the mini-games in general is. You'll need to make some sort of AI system to replace all the code that checks for input/behavior from the linked games, which I'm sure you realize will be quite a lot of work.
