The Ceriah Region [Now With Pokemon Training Systems!]
The Cerian Skype Room! "What is true is already so. Owning up to it doesn't make it worse. Not being open about it doesn't make it go away. And because it's true, it is what is there to be interacted with. Anything untrue isn't there to be lived. People can stand what is true, for they are already enduring it." - The Litany of Gendlin Welcome to Ceriah Ceriah is a mountainous region carved into the harsh wilderness surrounding Wyvern's Vale, a fierce land once dominated by clashing dragons. Despite its primal roots and humble beginnings as a series of mining towns, Ceriah is a region that prides itself in its advanced technology and progressive policies. With its ideals based in rationality, the scientific method, and not letting oneself be blinded to the truth by becoming emotionally attached to lies, Ceriah is dedicated to improving lives by improving technology. Transhumanism echoes throughout the citizenship and the message of equality billows like a proud banner over each city. Transhumanism: "the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations." The people of Ceriah possess a strong belief in the power of knowledge. Knowledge is the power to improve, extend, and save lives. With knowledge and technology, one may use lasers to cure defects of the eyes or to replace a man's unsalvageable leg with one of metal. Indeed, Ceriah excels in the fields of medicine and cybernetics. Hearing and vision enhancements are standard for both human and Pokemon soldiers and available as luxury purchases for citizens. Despite its amazing strides in cybernetic technologies and augmentations, Ceriah places far more value on technologies which save lives and cure disease. The preservation of life can be said to be one of the region's dearest held values. It is because of this that Ceriah abhors the idea of capital punishment. "No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable." - Adam Smith The Cerian economic system is primarily capitalistic with socialistic elements. Production and distribution of "essential goods" is controlled by the government, ensuring any given citizen is provided with food, clothing, health care, and basic housing in the form of a modest apartment. When more people exist than the labor which is needed for production, workers are cycled such that the average individual simply works less. Many Cerians cannot rightly imagine a society where a man must live on the street for lack of a job. A system which allows a man to "run out of work" when food is in excess seems laughably flawed. Besides the base contributions expected of the average citizen, one may additionally choose to provide extra contributions beyond their job or to sell goods or services to other citizens and in this way earn money. Private business and capitalistic competition is indeed alive and well in Ceriah. Indeed, despite the availability of basic housing many business-owning Cerians or families willing to commit to extra work pay taxes to the government for the pleasure of owning private property. People who have other jobs or businesses may simply pay the Cerian government instead of providing labor. "Racism is taught in our society... it is not automatic. It is learned behavior toward persons with dissimilar physical characteristics." - Alex Haley Some say that Pokemon are tools. Some say Pokemon are our partners. Ceriah rejects both of these statements. Pokemon are people. Pokemon are us. Ceriah has some of the most progressive policies regarding Pokemon of any region. Any sapient Pokemon is considered eligible for citizenship; to suggest otherwise is considered at best disgustingly ignorant and the mark of a foreigner. Claiming ownership of an Gardevoir is akin to claiming ownership of a man. All Pokemon citizens of Ceriah are educated in written language with which they may communicate with the rest of the populace; a standard device owned by many Pokemon speaks that which they type and those with the "Datajack" Augmentation (see the Soldier Progression, Augmentation section) may forego typing entirely. This ease of communication has created a much stronger sense of equality between the citizenship. Even Pokemon of lesser intelligence are treated with respect and dignity and it's common practice for less intellectually blessed Pokemon to place a more intelligent Citizen in charge of their affairs; most Venipede are simply not comfortable filing paperwork and otherwise have difficulty holding a job. This is referred to as the Pokemon being a dependent of the other entity. More often than not this entity is another Pokemon simply due to ease of communication. A Pokemon may choose to make itself a dependent of a human because they believe the human will help them to grow stronger and make better choices, but never would a human say they "owned" such a Pokemon and never would they be permitted to "capture" them against their will. There are no "starter Pokemon" in Ceriah and using the term "wild" is considered to be both in poor taste and a mark of ignorance. You may as well call the average human a "wild" human for not being a slave. The term "Pokemon" in of itself is a topic of contention, as its roots imply that the entities in questions are "monsters" to be kept in one's pocket. Many a social justice warrior will lash out at foreigners using the word harmlessly. It's currently considered politically correct to not mention race at all; you would not say "I met a Blaziken at the train station the other day," you would say "I met a man at the train station the other day" unless his status as a Blaziken was in some way directly relevant to the topic at hand. That is to say nothing of the backlash one would invoke by stereotyping a Slyveon as feminine or a Gastly as mischievous. |
Technologies of Note Cities and Biomes Ceriah is primarily comprised of a series of highly advanced cities carved deep into the mountains themselves, their outermost walls reinforced with steel. Despite being subterranean, Cerian cities are fully illuminated by day by special lights meant to replicate the effects of the sun that allow healthy plant life and Grass-types to thrive. Cerian architects, engineers, and artists have done their fullest to make Cerian cities aesthetically pleasing from the various plant-life and flowers lining the streets to the shades of the buildings themselves; the government strongly believes in a content citizenry and pleasant surroundings have a strong impact on one's mental state. From subtle elegance to calming blues to the simple cheeriness of bright colors, Cerian cities have a wide variety of artistic styles about them; many a citizen has chosen their home according to their tastes in aesthetics. Multiple biomes are spread throughout each city, from darkened districts meant to please nocturnal or cave-dwelling Pokemon to districts flourishing with plant-life to districts that are entirely underwater. If one thing can be said to be in common regarding Cerian cities, however, its the oft overwhelming size of its tunnels and rooms, each one built to potentially accommodate Pokemon the size of Steelix with room to spare. Poke balls Cerian Poke balls are quite unique from those used in most regions. As they are not used for capture or containment, they are manufactured without a Poke ball's locking mechanism. Even a slight struggle will allow a Pokemon to escape effortlessly. Also unlike the average Poke ball, Cerian Poke balls are never registered to a "trainer." They are solely registered to the Pokemon they have been assigned to contain and are generally recognized as that Pokemon's property. In general, Poke balls are really only used for convenient transportation, medical care, and as the method used to switch Pokemon in and out of matches in tournaments. It's quite common for Pokemon to carry their Poke balls with them; a number of businesses have capitalized by selling Poke balls with varying designs and many Pokemon will wear them minimized around the neck or wrist. Cerian Poke balls are illegal in many other regions, however, because as each is assigned to a Pokemon and not a "trainer" they allow one to hide about as many Pokemon as one may carry on their person; with a simple backpack one could smuggle close to an army of Cerian citizens! Cerian Poke balls are for this reason monitored by the Cerian government for signs of suspicious activity such as large densities of minimized Poke balls in one space. This doesn't, however, extend to Cerian Poke balls no longer in Cerian territory. The Cerian police and military, it should be noted, do have access to more standard Poke balls for situations that warrant their use. Transportation Cerian cities are connected by an advanced series of maglev trains. Typically managed by humanoids or Rotom in case of emergency and running at all hours, they're almost entirely automated and allow lightning fast travel between cities. Travel using Cerian maglev trains is free. Pokemon don't typically use maglev trains in lei of the more convenient option; as Pokemon are capable of being instantly transferred between PCs and the technology therein is relatively inexpensive, all Cerian cities have a multitude of waypoints set up for Pokemon citizens' convenience. A Pokemon need simply place their Poke ball in the device, select their destination, and allow themselves to be withdrawn. Seconds later, they are automatically released at their destination. Item deliveries are similarly handled via PCs. It's somewhat of a stereotype that the average Cerian is impossibly impatient. Someone raised in Ceriah is accustomed to lightning fast travel and delivery; when they step into the rest of the world, everyone seems to move in slow motion. It's a common joke among foreigners that a Cerian minute is only ten seconds long. Ability Capsules and Genetic Engineering Ceriah possesses two technologies that have had heavy impacts on both the field of domestic defenses and competitive battling. The first is the enhanced ability capsule. Unlike archaic ability capsules, enhanced ability capsules allow Pokemon to change between all of their possible abilities including those commonly called "Hidden Abilities." Though celebrated by the citizenry as just one more way to encourage equality, this technology pales in comparison to the amazing breakthroughs of Cerian genetic engineering. In the past, eugenics were the only means of Pokemon learning certain moves known by many as "egg moves." By isolating the genes responsible for these mutations, however, Cerian technology is now capable of replicating these changes in the host Pokemon and inducing "egg moves" as desired. Though this procedure is expensive and not currently available to foreigners, many consider it worth the investment and it's quite common among both the military and professional fighters. |
Training and Tournaments "Finding good players is easy. Getting them to play as a team is another story." - Casey Stengel As Pokemon are people and one doesn't "capture" people - at least not in civilized societies - building a team of Pokemon is more akin to hiring a group of baseball players to play on your team. Though many Pokemon do wished to be trained, they certainly do not sit in one's pocket in their off time. To separate this practice from the more barbaric "Pokemon training" of other regions, Ceriah has coined the term "Pokemon coach." All citizens may become coaches and many of Cerian coaches are in fact Pokemon. A coach's job is typically team composition, training regimens, and managing expenses and salaries, though oftentimes there is no official coach and multiple members of the team will handle different aspects of management. The coach, if not a battling member of the team, is also usually in charge of switching Pokemon and giving orders during matches. This role is usually referred to as "Tactician." Humans are usually included on teams in some capacity as to allow for Mega evolution. Due to the vast differences between Cerian coaching and the much more barbaric "Pokemon training" of other regions, many people of Ceriah treat foreign trainers with disdain or distrust. (Still confused? Take a look at the spoilered paragraph below and it might clear things up.) Spoiler:
Cerian gyms are not monotype and most Cerians find the idea of a monotype coach either strange, foolish, or both. Cerian gyms are build around being challenges appropriate to coaches of varying levels and skill. They tend to be less eccentric than many foreign gyms; the Cerian battling community doesn't believe that every gym should be the coaching equivalent of a theme park. They're tests. Besides being symbols of skill (and something to show that Gabite you're trying to recruit that he should waste any time on you), many tournaments will require a certain number of badges as a means of weeding out weaker coaches. Foreign Relations Sanctuare: Allied+ Ceriah's relationship with Sanctuare has changed rapidly over a very short period of time. Once, Sanctuare was a pit of filth, outputting pollution daily and profiting off the suffering of its people. After the rebuilding of its government and the cleaning up of its environment, Ceriah considers it a bastion of freedom in the world."Pokemon have all the rights that a human being does. This means a Pokemon can do whatever a human can do. Pokemon can apply for jobs, become a gym leader, or even a governor. Refusing someone's job application simply because they are a Pokemon is not allowed." Ceriah applauds these recent policy changes and offers Sanctuare their full support. Raoga: Allied+ Description incoming. Nonconsensual mon capture is illegal and all.Oceia: Allied Though Ceriah has typically taken a politely neutral stance on Oceia's policies, the two regions have long considered each other valuable allies. Oceia, which is rich in natural resources, has long been trading raw materials to Ceriah. Ceriah, with its advanced technology and emphasis on manufactured goods as its primary export, is in return responsible for exporting many products to Oceia. The two regions being in such close proximity to each other results in reduced transportation times and costs for both. Because of this and because of their long-standing trade routes, both often look to the other for their trade needs before other regions.Dúlra: Allied+ Despite Dúlra's long-standing status as a technophobic region, Ceriah respects Dúlra for protecting the most basic rights of Pokemon with their policies preventing the non-consensual capture of Pokemon. Ceriah is less supportive of their treatment of Pokemon as a lower social caste, but has not yet expressed any strong opinions on the topic. Though most Cerian's see their "religious" views regarding the "balance" as anywhere between odd and delusional, Ceriah remains politely neutral on the topic.Heiwa: Friendly Despite the clashing cultures of Heiwa and Ceriah, the two regions are currently on good terms. Trade routes have recently been established between them, with Heiwa exporting ore to Ceriah from their mines and Ceriah exporting a number of manufactured products to Heiwa according to demand. While their relationship is still premature and uncertain, both have embassies in the other region as a means to ease future interactions.Sovereign Factions Rathina Rathina is a Cerian faction of primarily Noivern ancestry. It's current capital is Rama. |
PC Creation and Existing PCs Cerian characters may be either a reasonably intelligent Pokemon or a human, and both options may opt to be a basic citizen, Pokemon coach, or soldier serving as a member of the police force in times of peace. All members wishing to participate in Cerian events should be citizens, with some exceptions given to very particular trainers. A player may have two characters, though they may only have one coach and one soldier. Assume all soldiers to be high-level Pokemon or experienced humans. Different roles have different events associated with them. Coaches - and foreign trainers when applicable - are associated with tournaments held on Pokemon Showdown. Soldiers are associated with grid-based, Mystery Dungeon style adventures controlling one unit per player. All citizens can participate in non-combat events to influence domestic affairs. Note that for balance purposes, it's best that a coach's team doesn't contain any Pokemon who are also soldiers unless that soldier is also controlled by another player. Additionally, coaches don't need to post any of their dedicated team members in the thread and may instead keep them secret. Name: Species: Role: Summary: While it's acceptable to play Ceriah-native characters in other regions, it's preferred that they are first pm'd to me so that they can be approved as being properly representative of the region. Soldier Chargen (Pokemon) Cerian soldiers are built using a "house ruled" Pokemon Tabletop United system. For those interested in the actual rulebook (which has a few key differences from the system I'm using such as a lack of trainer classes), it's available for download here. All relevant information will be covered here, however, and I will be able to provide the relevant stats from the PTU Pokedex. The following example assumes you're playing as a Pokemon soldier, however you will want to read it even if you are playing as a human. You don't need to do this step until after your character concept has been accepted. For our Pokemon chargen sample, we will be using a Dratini (though players will generally want to create fully experienced Pokemon). In PTU, Dratini has an Overland speed of 4, a Swim speed of 4, is considered a Medium creature, and has the following base stats (see a description of what the stats do at the bottom): HP 4 Att 6 Def 5 SpAtt 5 SpDef 5 Spd 5 The first step of creating our intrepid little trainee is to choose its "Nature." Don't worry! Nature in this context has nothing to do with personality. Think of it more as a fighting style. In fact, to separate it from the idea of personalities a bit, lets call them Affinities. Affinities can be neutral or they can raise one stat - including HP - and lower another one. Lets give this little guy a +Att, -SpAtt nature. An Affinity will raise one base stat by 2 and lower another by 2, unless that stat is HP; HP is raised or lowered by 1. Now his base stats look like this: HP 4 Att 8 Def 5 SpAtt 3 SpDef 5 Spd 5 Now, all Cerian soldiers are automatically assumed to be trained. They wouldn't be sent on interesting missions if they didn't already know what they were doing! Right off the bat you get 60 points to distribute among your stats following a rule called Base Stat Relations. This means when you distribute stats, they have to stay in the same order, highest to lowest, as they were when you started. So, for example, our little Dratini can't raise any stat higher than or equal his attack. If he wanted to make his Defense 8, he'd need to raise Attack to 9 first because it needs to stay his highest stat without equal. Stats that begin as equal to each other may ignore each other. Nature applies before Base Stat Relations. So if he wanted to be a Special Attack Dratini, he could have set his Nature to +SpAtt, making it 7 and meaning that it would be his new highest stat. When creating your soldier, try not to spread your stat points too thin: focus on three or four stats. Trying to be good at everything often ends up making you good at nothing! Don't stress too hard about this now. You'll be allowed to change it once you've had time to get used to PTU combat. Once you're done, do not post your stats in the thread. PM them to Managrimm. Aside from stats, each Pokemon has a one in ten chance of having their Hidden Ability and a one in ten chance of getting a random Egg Move. PM Managrimm to make the relevant rolls for you. If you get the wrong Ability or don't get an Egg Move you needed, you'll be able to get them later by utilizing Cerian Enhanced Ability Capsules and Genetic Engineering. You additionally have access to all of your form's level-up moves. The stats are explained below, quoted directly from the Pokemon Tabletop United Core Rulebook. Spoiler: Basic Stats

Soldier Chargen (Human) In a region where Pokemon aren't bound to trainers, it might seem as though humans aren't needed on the battlefield at all. They're much frailer and prone to injury or death than Pokemon, after all, and most intelligent humanoid Pokemon are capable of anything a human would be capable of doing and more. Except Mega evolving. A Pokemon needs a human they possess a strong bond with who possesses an unused Keystone within ten squares of their position to Mega evolve. This may be any unused Keystone in the case of situations with multiple humans on the field; many squads who have trained together feel a strong bond with the other members of their squad, making Mega evolution possible with multiple partners. After Mega evolution has occurred, the Pokemon no longer needs to stay within ten squares of the human and may stay Mega evolved for the remainder of the fight. In situations with no combat-oriented humans, this often means humans are kept behind the lines just within Mega evolution range only to fall back once fighting begins. This is not, however, always possible and many humans wish to fight alongside the Pokemon soldiers regardless. Cerian human soldiers utilize mechs falling into two categories. Frame-class mechs are light mechs similar to "power suits" and are controlled more precisely via the "Datajack" perk (see the section on augmentations). If the "Datajack" perk is somehow disabled, the mech user can still treat the frame as armor but can't access features beyond moving and using the Struggle attack. Tank-class mechs are larger, less maneuverable, and move slower than frame-class mechs. They can be controlled via the "Datajack" perk or via manual controls. Tank-class mechs are typically only dispatched in dire situations. Both mech types protect the driver from the effects of Augmentation Shock, except when caused by EMP. Certain mechs can be controlled remotely. Pokemon are not typically given mechs as they're expensive and Pokemon generally don't need them the same way humans do to be effective in combat. Human soldier PCs are assumed to be experienced and well-trained in the usage of mechs; they start with one frame-class mech that may be created using the rules for Pokemon soldiers in conjunction to the rules below. Do not apply Affinities to mechs. Note that despite this aspect of chargen, most humans do not get personal mechs. PCs are assumed to be a cut above the average soldier and worthy of this distinction. Certain Augmentations may be applied to mechs or their driver at the same cost as a Pokemon soldier. For example, a mech driver may receive an eye augmentation that applies to them in any mech they drive or they may buy "Dermal Plating" for a particular mech. These add to the mech's Complexity (see below) the same way upgrades do. Mechanic-wise, both mech types use the "Pokebot" rules from the Pokemon Tabletop United sci-fi supplement book, "Do Porygon Dream of Mareep?" Frame-class mechs use the stats for Medium Pokebots and Tank-class mechs use the stats for Large Pokebots. Cerian mechs are made from an alloy steel and have the weaknesses and resistances of the Steel type. The rules for PTU Pokebots are quoted below. Note that though remotely controlled mechs have the Status immunities listed below, their riders do not. Spoiler: PTU supplement, "Do Porygon Dream of Mareep?"

She originally joined Team Plasma back in Unova because she truly believed in the ideals they claimed to stand for. When she found out that they were frauds, she left the organization immediately and still feels guilt over all the things she did while she was in Team Plasma. She’s come to Ceriah because she wants to start a new life for herself and her best friend, one Mawile named Aruna. Aruna is a childhood friend of Mallory’s, “given” to her as a present from her parents when she became of age to become a “trainer”. However, Aruna has never once been in a Pokeball since being under Mallory's care, and has always been by Mallory’s side through thick and thin. Mallory hopes to one day become a Pokemon researcher and is currently studying at a university in Ceriah. |

Name: Sniper Species: Scizor Role: Soldier Summary: A foreigner who arrived in Ceriah. Though he had a trainer before, he didn't want to be owned by a human and left. To make matters worse, his ex-trainer was a wimp and the Pokemon couldn't have the battles that he wanted. He discovered the Ceriah Region after he broke off with his trainer and wandered around, stowing away inside boats until he bumped into a Cerian human and got into a fight, thinking he'd be captured again (he had been avoiding humans, fighting them if they made contact so he would not be captured again.) The Cerian human had a Pokemon bodyguard with them that managed calm him down after a fight. Afterwards, he listened and liked what they said about Ceriah. He came along with them to join the region and named himself: Sniper. Sniper has no problems with humans and is sometimes envious of the strong bond a human and their Pokemon shared. It doesn't mean he's warming up, especially to those who wants to capture him. That is the reason why he has not yet able to mega evolve. Sniper's trying to avoid his issue for now. |

Smoking Them Out, P1 There's been a recent surge in the amount of the illegal substance "T" being smuggled into Cerian cities causing widespread concern among the populace. As citizens are aware, "T" is an incredibly harmful and addictive drug that if used consistently will gradually destroy the body. Several dealers have been reported by members of the citizenship, however so far they have evaded police detection. Because of the grave health hazards it presents and risk of addition the substance poses, Cerian officials are taking this breach very seriously. The illegal subtences are currently speculated to be being grown outside city borders, however despite Cerian efforts to sniff out potential smugglers both in-city and out the police have thus far been unable to find the root. Many Cerians are calling for stricter security regulations at checkpoints into the cities as it's currently possible for Cerian citizens and members of the draconic villages to pass through Cerian security relatively unfettered compared to foreigners, who must wait to be frisked and have their bags scanned. Many others have expressed concern that these new policies will be invasive and severely inconvenience those who frequently pass in and out of Cerian cities to visit the sovereign cites, often several times a day. Increasing the wait time to walk in and out of cities, they argue, will make visiting friends or family tedious and segregate Cerian cities from the rest of Wyvern's Vale. Oh, won't anyone think of the children? "Smoking Them Out" is a Citizen and Soldier mini-event that will be affected by the choices made by both the citizenry and the officers assigned to handle pursuing the dealers. Players of Soldier-class citizens may OOCly sign up now to have their characters assigned to the case. The Cerian Senate will be taking public opinion into account and voting among themselves on how to handle the influx of the illicit substance and whether or not checkpoint security should be increased. Anyone with a character who is a citizen or honorary citizen is eligible to vote and voice their opinion, however those with multiple characters may still only vote once. |
I'm going for convincing some slurpuff to come to the city gates. The pokedex entry for it is "Its sense of smell is 100 million times better than a human's, so even the faintest scent tells it about everything in the area. It's like it can see with its nose!" This would help with finding tobacco a lot. It also shouldn't cause any more delays for people crossing the border, and might actually make the process easier.
|
Mallory votes to increase security at the gates. This drug is a serious problem and as much as she hates the inconvenience of having to be checked every time she has to go to uni, she cares a lot about her home nation and wants the government to do whatever it needs to do to crack down on this plight.

Terror Not known to grow in any other region, Tremorweed is a small, leafy plant typically found in the lower portions of Ceriah's mountains. Commonly referred to by the slang words "T" or "Terror," powdered Tremorweed stem is a drug sometimes smoked for recreational purposes in sovereign villages on Cerian soil. Tremorweed is known to be highly addictive and deleterious to the lungs if used over a long period of time. It is illegal in Cerian cities. In small doses, it gives the user a slight "buzz" and dulls the senses. After smoking "T" for longer than twenty minutes, many users report a sense of feeling that they're smothered or moving slower. This is how "T" is typically used. In more concentrated doses, "T" is known to have strong hallucinogenic affects. The users' sight becomes impaired, they experience a sense of being "stuck" or otherwise unable to move, and they begin feeling a sharp sense of unexplainable terror. In this stage, abusers of the drug will often thrash and flail, sometimes harming those around them. "T" is almost never purposefully created in doses this strong. Grass types and any other Pokemon immune to spore-based attacks are unaffected by "T." Additionally, Pokemon without metabolisms cannot use "T." |
Sniper has come into a decision. He votes for tightening security, he has no care of the consequences: irritating the Draconian Villages. Weeding out those who illiberally brings the drugs is much important than the selfish matters of Draconians. In addition, they should help so that they may "request" for security to get off their properties.

Soldier Progression (Basic, Pokemon) Each time you participate in a Soldier-related event you may earn one or more Soldier Points, or SP. SP are an OOC currency that can be spent in a variety of ways. The following bonuses are the most basic. (Note: Some of these may not make sense if you haven't already read the Combat Tutorial.) These prices are still being evaluated and may change. As Cerian combat uses PTU, most of these are adapted from PTU. Additional Soldier characters may be purchased for 3 SP for a Cerian native Pokemon and 5 SP for a non-Cerian native Pokemon, however they cannot typically participate in the same events at once. If Ceriah currently has another region listed with a "+" under Foreign Relations, you may treat Pokemon in that region's Pokedex as Cerian native for the purpose of SP cost. If you own multiple Soldiers, SP are interchangeable between them. 1 SP - Change Affinity (must redistribute stats) - Change Ability to either Non-Hidden Ability - Learn a Tutor Move - Learn a TM Move - Raise a Base Stat by 1 (up to five times, influences BSR, can be reset) - Raise a Skill by 1 (once per skill) - Increase the Power Capability by 1 (only once) - Increase both Jump Capabilities by 1 (only once) 2 SP - Raise the Move Frequency of one Move (only once per Pokemon, can be reset) - Increase a Movement Capability by 2 (only once per Movement Capability; Underdog Pokemon may apply this to the same Movement Capability twice, but this is refunded if they evolve to a species that is no longer an Underdog) - Learn an Egg Move - Change Ability to Hidden Ability 3 SP - Gain one of the following: +1 to all Base Stats, +2 to two different Base Stats, or +3 to a single Base Stat. Then redistributes Stat Points. (only once) (The following are "Edges," "Poke Edges," and "Features" taken from the Pokemon Tabletop United Core Rulebook. In-game costs have been removed and replaced with Cerian costs. Ignore all prerequisites related to level. These may additionally be taken by human soldiers when applicable.) 1 SP Attack Conflict Prerequisites: None Effect: Select Attack or Special Attack. From now on, that Stat does not need to remain higher than Stats it surpasses in Base Relations, and similarly all other Stats surpassed by it do not need to remain lower. Mixed Sweeper [Ranked 3] Rank 1 Prerequisites: Level 10, Invested at least 5 Level-Up Stat Points into both Attack and Special Attack Rank 2 Prerequisites: Level 20, Invested at least 10 Level-Up Stat Points into both Attack and Special Attack Rank 3 Prerequisites: Level 40, Invested at least 15 Level-Up Stat Points into both Attack and Special Attack Cost: 1 [Soldier Point] each Rank Effect: Each Rank, the user gains 3 Stat Points to distribute freely between HP, Defense, Special Defense, or Speed. These bonus points are treated as if they were “Level Up” points, and do not alter Base Stats. The following upgrades have been removed and are being rebalanced! |
Soldier Progression (Augmentations) Most Augmentations are permanent and usually cannot be undone without causing massive trauma to the patient's body. Think carefully before choosing an Augmentation! Augmented Pokemon are not tournament-legal (with the exception of the Data Jack augmentation). All Augmentations listed here are from the Pokemon Tabletop United sci-fi supplement book, "Do Porygon Dream of Mareep?" Foreigners should never be assumed to have more than at best vague knowledge of these augmentations or procedures. No information regarding these augmentations - besides the Datajack - are available to Cerian civilians and none are noticeable outside of combat. The following is almost all directly quoted from "Do Porygons Dream of Mareep?" "All Pokémon and Trainers have a limited capacity for how much their bodies can be augmented by technology. Whether the augmentations are mechanical or biological in nature, the body tends to reject foreign elements, and it is delicate work to coax the body into treating an Augmentation as part of itself. People who require organ transplants often require drugs for the rest of their lives to trick their immune systems into treating their new organs as their own. The process is even more complicated for Augmentations. Pokémon and Trainers have an Augmentation Capacity of 10. Each installed Augmentation consumes a certain amount of this Augmentation capacity." "In addition to the Capacity used by a particular Augmentation, each Augmentation is installed in a particular body part. Augmentations which are installed in the same slot are not compatible with each other. Pokémon lacking the requisite body part may not use an Augmentation." "Limb Augmentations obviously affect the limbs. Body Augmentations are thorough and invasive Augmentations that are spread throughout the core of someone’s body. Dermal Augmentations replace skin all over the body but do not affect internal tissue. Eye Augmentations replace or supplement the eyes." "Augmentations are easily damaged by electrical damage. Whenever an Augmented Pokémon or Trainer takes Electric Type damage in excess of 25% of their Maximum Hit Points or suffers the effects of Thunder Wave or an EMP weapon, they go into Augmentation Shock. For targets with Electric-Type Immunity, calculate the damage they would take if they were Doubly Resistant for the purposes of determining whether they suffer Augmentation Shock. Thunder Wave still causes Augmentation Shock for these targets. When a Pokémon or Trainer goes into Augmentation Shock, their Augmentations are disabled for 2 rounds. At the GM’s discretion, particularly powerful electromagnetic interference may leave Augmentations disabled for longer. In addition, they suffer a penalty to all rolls and to their Evasion equal to half of their used Augmentation Capacity for that duration. For example, a Trainer with the Medical Nanobots and Dermal Plating Augmentations has used 6 Augmentation Capacity, so they would suffer a -3 penalty. In addition to the Shock penalty, there are obvious downsides to your Augmentations being disabled. However, Trainers and Pokémon are never left completely disabled from having their Augmentations shut down. For instance, if you have had your eyes augmented, you may find yourself suffering an Accuracy Penalty, but you would still be able to see at a basic level." 0 SP (Standard) "Datajack Slot: n/a Capacity Used: 0 Effect: The user may directly interface with [Cerian] computers, accessing the data through an Eye Slot Augmentation, external visor, Pokédex, or internal computer. The user can communicate wirelessly with others over [Cerian] networks using the Datajack." The Datajack Augmentation is free and standard on Cerian soldiers; it's how Pokemon and human soldiers are capable of communication. Soldiers must receive an Eye Augmentation to use this Augmentation via the Eye Slot. It's standard to use this Augmentation via an external visor built into a helmet, with a handheld computer for back-up in the event that this is somehow damaged. Soldiers are free to reject receiving this augmentation, though doing so is considered deleterious to one's comrades. In addition, some Cerian citizens choose to purchase this Augmentation despite the monetary costs. As some Cerian Pokemon can speak through various devices without the need to type, it's somewhat of a misconception that Cerian software is capable of directly translating and speaking a person's thoughts. In actuality, the Pokemon is actually simply directly interfacing with the software in place of typing; someone that did not know how to read and write would be incapable of this. It must be stressed again that this doesn't let you see the data "in your head." It's more akin to being able to type on a (highly advanced and sophisticated) keyboard; if you were trying to access information with your keyboard and didn't have a screen, you wouldn't be able to see it through the keyboard! 1 SP "Enhanced Sight Slot: Eyes Capacity Used: 1 Effect: The user can see in the IR spectrum and gains the Darkvision Capability." "Smart Vision Slot: Eyes Capacity Used: 2 Effect: The user cannot have their Accuracy lowered, and their attacks cannot have Accuracy Penalties. The user is immune to the Blinded condition (but not Total Blindness)." 2 SP "Synthetic Muscle Slot: Limbs Capacity Used: 2 Effect: The user gains a +2 bonus to their Power Capability and +1 to both High and Long Jump Capabilities." 3 SP "Medical Nanobots Slot: Body Capacity Used: 2 Effect: Three times a day as an Extended Action, the user may gain a Digestion Buff as if they had consumed Leftovers. This does not take up one of the user’s normal Digestion Buff slots, but they may only have one Digestion Buff gained this way at a time." "Wired Reflexes Slot: Body Capacity Used: 3 Effect: The user begins each Scene with two Reflex Points. These may be spent as a Swift Action on their turn to give them a +2 bonus to their Accuracy (before rolling) or their Evasion for one full round." 4 SP "Sub-Dermal Plating Slot: Dermal Capacity Used: 3 Effect: Once a Scene, the user may take Physical Damage as if they resisted it one step further." 5 SP "Thermal-Optical Camouflage Slot: Dermal Capacity Used: 4 Effect: The user may activate the Invisibility Capability once per Scene. While Invisible, the user can’t be seen by thermal imagining equipment." |
Though Ceriah is a hub of technology, it's cities are somewhat "bubbled" off from the surrounding wilderness of Wyvern's Vale. Besides the farms of the plains, a number of port cities along the water, and the abandoned mines of the past, Cerian wilderness has been relatively untouched by the Cerian civilization for decades and put aside as a reserve for the original natives. Though most people will immediately think of the tribes of dragons for which Wyvern's Vale is named, there are indeed dragon-less communities as well. Commonly referred to as sovereign villages or factions depending on their size, these communities do engage in some trade with Ceriah. Though most foreigners seem to expect them to have little more than sticks and brambles, many of them possess technologies such as radios, computers, televisions, and some amount of Cerian weaponry. In general, however, their cultures tend to be more traditional. As none of the original tribes had human members, humans tend to be uncommon among their numbers, but not rare. It's a point of importance that these communities, large or small, do not follow Cerian law; they're entirely sovereign and each is recognized by Ceriah as owning the land they inhabit. |
Smoking Them Out, A Note I think the gist of the choice might have been misunderstood due to the way I worded it, so I'm going to make one final note before finalizing votes. The issue wasn't meant to be a question of making people angry. The opposing side will likely be upset that the other policy passed no matter which one passes. The issue was meant to be a conflict of whether it's worth causing severe segregation (since it would become arduous to cross city borders) between Cerian cities and what are essentially the Indian reserves on our land to catch the smugglers. I'm noting this because people seem the think the primary reason not to do so is to not make people upset, whereas both choices will make people upset. The intended conflict was "Are the effects this will have on our society as a whole worth lowering the effectiveness of the smugglers?" |
Ceriah has had a general policy of being rather reserved in the past in regards to other regions. Though their views are considered by many to be highly progressive, they're made little effort in the past to influence foreign policies and have instead preferred to keep to themselves. This has been changing recently, however, with a precedent being set in modern Raoga. After reviewing Raoga's policies, Ceriah has been pleased to find that capturing a Pokemon against it's will is not merely looked down upon by society; it's illegal and if reported warrants police intervention to release the Pokemon in question. Pokemon in Raoga, while not having citizen status, must be befriended and not taken against their will. Ceriah is proud to find that this neighboring region places due importance on Pokemon consent. After some discussion, Ceriah has decided to ally itself with Raoga and will be providing the neighboring region with a shipment of modified Cerian Poke balls in hopes that they'll become the standard in a region that sees little reason to imprison Pokemon. Ceriah is now Allies with Raoga. |
In Defense of Ceriah, P1 It seemed the citizenry had abandoned their concerns for the "drug crisis." "Terror in Ceriah," one news source had cutely titled it. A joke, much like the issue people made of it. If citizens wished to destroy their biology, Zandr saw no reason to prohibit them. Perhaps they might create a special dome just for them, filled with the smoke and death they were so fond of, so that they might cull them all the faster. There were some who chose to hope, for whatever that was worth, that Ceriah would be somewhat shielded. It was surrounded by an allied region on nearly every side and had not been targeted by the mysterious commander's initial attack. Zandr cared nothing for hopes, only probabilities. Many who called themselves sovereign were flooding into the cities now, some to escape and some to bolster the Cerian armies. Many of the smaller communities who still held to the ideals of the warrior made to enlist, even the most headstrong among them knowing their meager armies could not compare to those of the enemy that faced them now. So they chose to integrate themselves into the great armies of Ceriah. If there was anything Zandr would lack, it would not be soldiers. The cities filled, the people hushed in their bunkers, and the great halls closed like a vault to the outside world. And then there was nothing to do but wait. |
In Defense of Ceriah, P2 At a distance, one might have mistaken a good part of the foreign armies for an oddly colored cloud. Pokemon that couldn't fly rode on the backs of those that could. Gyarados carried greater numbers still upon their backs and dragged ships behind them on great metal chains. It seemed they hadn't quite mastered the art of steering a seafaring vessel yet. The war council watched silently through the eyes of the first drone to spot an enemy force. "They have ships," one member mumbled to no one in particular. "Did you think they came across the ocean on grit and saltwater? They need supplies." "Those ships look Heiwaian," someone noted. "Heiwa makes ships for a lot of regions. Could be from anywhere." "Irrelevant," Zandr interrupted, coldly regarding the screen as the enemy drew nearer to the shore, "Pull the drone back. Do not let them see it. Do not lose vision." |
In Defense of Ceriah, P3 Some believed that Mewtwo, who had caused so much havoc with its psychic powers of suggestion in other regions, was commanding its many armies in much the same way. Yet few could play ten games of chess at once while the heat of battle raged around them. The general of this army, the clone of an Alakazam with origins unknown, was playing this particular game of chess. She knew the location of the tunnels that would lead her into the Cerian cities. She even knew much of their layouts. Though Ceriah was among the number of regions Mewtwo had not targeted in his previous attack, it had not escaped his notice. Despite her form, she was young as all the clones were young and there had been much for her to learn of warfare. The strategies of so many different creatures, how to utilize them together to their fullest, and what measures the enemies would be best served using against them. That was to say nothing of the technologies utilized during wartimes. The Cerians would have supplies and technology she had found little means to research and scarce time to understand. They would know this land better than her. Their generals knew their soldiers better than she knew hers. Everything she knew of war she knew secondhand. And yet, this attack needed to be swift. She didn't have the supply lines to siege the cities and her army would not be sustained by the land alone. Even now, what she had was dwindling. She couldn't afford to be anything but quick and decisive. She hoped Mewtwo knew what he was doing. Sentries cawed alarm: something in the skies. Sleek and silver, metallic and fast. Before she could figure out what it she was already ordering Tailwinds cast, units into the sky, Flamethrowers against steel. There were more of them. One exploded as the attacks penetrated its hull, engulfing several of her soldiers in a massive blast. Several fired shots into her army, bright like Flash Cannons. The flock of Metal Things was fast, but her numbers were great and her soldiers knew now to keep at range. These things did not threaten her. They could not even penetrate the outer layers of her defenses. She smiled as the last of them fell, empty metal husks sizzling on the ground. It seemed the Cerians were too frightened to send real soldiers. Those who had been hit and those few who had fainted were already being tended to. If this was a proper Cerian greeting then perhaps this would not be so difficult as she had anticipated. Back in the water, metallic creatures no bigger than Rattata whirred past Gyarados whose eyes were locked onto the sky. With legs like spiders and tiny drills they penetrated the ships, scuttling in complete silence until they found the stockrooms. The Alakazam was still smiling when in unison the Flash Cannons began ripping through the walls of each ship, through crates and crates of supplies. |
In Defense of Ceriah, P4 The enemy force was initially gathered in bulk on the shore, over the southern mountain range and across a thick strip of Cerian forest. Zandr watched as they began their march north and then west. Someone else in the same position might have smiled. Zandr didn't smile. The enemy supplies had been decimated, their course set. They would not be sustained by the forests nor the mountains and hunger would make their troops weak. They needed a victory now. That would make them desperate. It would allow Ceriah to play defensively, to risk less lives. They had sent what forces they could overseas to help Yoko. Now they needed to defend their homes. Zandr could see the bulk of the enemy army through the eyes of a drone not yet destroyed. A large Cerian air force moved into position far above them, their presence quietly taunting the enemy's aerial forces to separate from their ground support. They refused. Objects were dropped from claws and talons and hatches above. Opposing Flying types swiftly moved in with Protects, large explosions harmlessly diverted. The harassment continued, neither side committing to a confrontation. They didn't need to. Zandr spoke. "This army cannot penetrate a Cerian city." Cool, calculating eyes swept over their numbers. "These soldiers cannot dig through solid rock, they are not ghosts, they cannot teleport. Almost half of them are flight-capable, disadvantaged underground." Zandr's eyes flicked across the screen, across Pokemon ill-suited to Ceriah's great halls. "It could be they're using the same base units for each region in our cluster," someone suggested, "Their composition would be good for assault on Dulra, Raoga, so on... Open air towns vulnerable to aerial assault." "They have a larger force here than a lot of other nations," another man noted, "It could be they're banking on numbers making up for bad composition." They were all quiet for a moment, watching the screen. "They intuitively swat aside bombs dropped on their heads," Zandr noted. Not many regions utilized explosives. "Enemy drops something at you from the sky, you keep it from reaching your army," came the answer, "You don't even need to know what a bomb is to figure that out." He was correct, of course. Teaching Protect to a number of aerial units and keeping them in formation above your army was a logical thing to do. The enemy's army composition made sense - against the surrounding regions. Their larger numbers made sense - if they were trying to brute force their way through a disadvantage. Zandr was not satisfied. |
In Defense of Ceriah, P5 There's a funny little phenomenon among people known as "hindsight bias." When someone is told the outcome of an event, it's someone's natural inclination to look at the evidence that would have suggested that outcome and say they would have predicted it themselves. Regardless of evidence pointing to alternative outcomes, the one that occurred was clearly the obvious outcome. When a group fails to take a very specific precaution and a problem occurs that could have been prevented by that very specific precaution, it was obvious they should have taken it and they were clearly liable for not. Experiments have shown people to do this even when told a false outcome. In a very particular room a very particular machine began to pick up signs of something of an ethereal nature moving through the earth around the Cerian capital, something giving off all the signs of an electrical being. Then there were multiple somethings and even more, until they were flooding the screen. It was quickly concluded that these entities were Rotom. Yet Ceriah had long studied Rotom and had precautions against them. Mechs and war machines were built to accommodate Rotom soldiers, but a Rotom not recognized by the mechs to have proper clearance could not access them nor any other potentially dangerous Cerian device. The Rotom's numbers became too condensed for the machine to track, though they knew there were many. This new and unknown force converged towards a great military base in the Cerian capital that an outside source should have had no method of locating. Cerian soldiers swarmed the base, morale surging. The Rotom would try to take the war machines. They would fail. Maybe, when it was all done, they would say what happened next had been obvious all along. In a room where people spoke of war, Zandr absorbed this new information as apprehension claimed the council. "A second army." Questions were answered. More were raised. The army sitting on their land was already huge. Something was wrong. A hush fell over the room, the conclusion no one wanted to make. "He doesn't understand our computers. He doesn't know the Rotom won't work," someone said, breaking the silence, "This is good. We can take out the Rotom when they come up. Rotom are weak without hosts. The first army won't be able to breach the city and he'll have to divert more forces to Ceriah or give up." Zandr didn't answer. Something was wrong. Something had gone unconsidered. The Rotom were almost upon the base when it clicked. "Destroy the mechs!" Zandr hissed. There were too many. Their own Rotom couldn't hope to hold possession of the vehicles. "Destroy the tanks. Destroy everything. Do not let the Rotom near them." The order went out, but it was too late. Cerian devices were fool-proofed against Rotom without the proper clearance. And the enemy was using clones. |
What happens next in "In Defense of Ceriah" will now branch depending on whether or not Ceriah wins the contest to determine how Mewtwo is defeated. If we lose, an alternate set of events will be posted here as well as a link to our entry. Stay tuned for the exciting second half! |
The Cerian Coaching Minigame (Open Beta) Welcome to the Cerian Pokemon Coaching minigame! If you want to challenge Cerian gyms and participate in battle-related events, this is where you want to be. This is a competitive game that uses Pokemon Showdown to resolve battles, wherein all Pokemon are scaled up to level 100 with levels primarily determining what moves you've unlocked. You may play this game with one Cerian coach and one bonus foreign character (meaning, the character is already accepted in another region) from each region marked with a "+" symbol in Ceriah's Foreign Relations. It cannot be stressed enough that these game mechanics are not meant to be an accurate representation of being a Cerian coach. This is first and foremost a game. The game mechanics do not directly correlate to any in-character actions. For example... You've decided that in-game you'd like to move your character to Ceriah while remaining in Raoga in-character? Fine. You recruited this Torchic at level five and want to say the two of you met at a Cerian bar when he was already a Blaziken? No problem. Want to say you recruited a Charizard even though you don't have one in-game? You won't be able to use him in in-game battles, but you can say he's with you all you like! To start, choose one three-stage Pokemon. Don't be shy about it's rarity; just pick what you want! It doesn't need to be native to Ceriah. It begins at level five with the Ability of your choice. It cannot have its Hidden Ability or any Egg Moves. Your first week and every week after you join, restarting on Saturday, you'll get three actions per character. Those actions can be spent: coaching a Pokemon, recruiting a new Pokemon, traveling, or challenging a gym leader. Challenging a gym costs two actions. Coach: Choose one Pokemon. It gains levels depending on its leveling rate. From Slow to Fast, the rates are 4, 5, 6, and 7 levels per action. After a Pokemon has gained every benefit it can gain from leveling (unlocked all possible evolutions and level-up moves) it's considered "capped" and it's level is no longer tracked. Pokemon that evolve from friendship can evolve starting at level fifteen unless they evolve via some other means before a friendship evolution. Pokemon that evolve from evolutionary items can evolve starting at level twenty-five with some exceptions that will be listed below. Mega stones are unlocked after six badges. Some Pokemon - such as Lucario - have certain powerful "Start" moves restricted upon evolution. If your Pokemon gains a number of Start moves upon evolving, ask me which ones are valid and which must be tutored. Recruit: Choose one Pokemon native to the region you're in. You unlock that Pokemon at level five. You need two badges to unlock single form Pokemon or any of Gligar, Murkrow, Scyther, Sneasel, Tangela, and Yanma. You need six badges to unlock additional pseudo-legendaries and starter Pokemon. Travel: Choose another WoPC region. You are now considered to be in that region. You must check with the region's owners - or ask me to do it - before declaring this. All Recruit actions now pull from that region's native Pokemon. You may move back to Ceriah as a free action when you're done. You must be in the same region as another coach to battle them. If Ceriah recognizes a particular region as being in line with Cerian policies then you may move between Ceriah and that region for free. Regions with this status are marked with a "+" symbol in Foreign Relations. Battle: Both you and another player spend one action each. Work together to agree on a fair level. Pokemon used to cannot use moves they cannot learn before that level and cannot be Pokemon they cannot evolve into before that level. Use standard gym rules. Both players battle on Showdown and PM the video to me. The winner can distribute two Coach actions between the participating Pokemon. The loser gets nothing. Challenge: Challenge the next gym you haven't defeated. Each gym has a level assigned to it. Pokemon used to challenge it cannot use moves they cannot learn before that level and cannot be Pokemon they cannot evolve into before that level. This is an OOC system to ensure that gyms are skill-based and not "grind"-based. If you challenge a gym and lose, those actions are gone and cannot be used for anything else. Each time you defeat a gym you gain access to tier of TMs listed for that badge. In addition, choose one of the following benefits: 1. Take a free Coach action for one Pokemon that participated in the gym battle, 2. Change the ability of one Pokemon on your team to its Hidden Ability, 3. Choose a valid Egg Move for one Pokemon on your team. It will unlock that Egg Move at level twenty. 4. Choose a valid Tutor Move for one Pokemon on your team. It will unlock that Tutor Move at level thirty. Challenging a foreign gym earns you the badge, ICly, and gives you two coaching actions if you win. You do not unlock TMs from defeating foreign gyms. If you're a foreigner playing in another region, pick one region to count as your home region. |
Name: Ezreal Species: Zoroark Role: Coach A bit of a devil-may-care sort of guy, Ezreal tends to do what he can get away with in terms of labor and not much more; he hates work, loves fun, and there isn't much more to say on the matter. He tends to spend his free time frequenting Cerian clubs, playing video games, or gambling with the money he makes coaching. He has something of an affinity for "retro" gadgets, which in Ceriah includes a good deal of "modern" tech from foreign regions. He has three piercings on each ear, though the style and color of earrings he uses tends to vary with his mood. He's almost always wearing one of his many black jackets, if only because having a number of available pockets is a must at all times. Though he has a wrist-comp for speaking to humans, most of the time he can't be bothered and keeps it shoved in his pockets. Ezreal started acting as the team strategist for a few of his friends mostly as a hobby and for a bit of extra cash, but after a while he started getting more serious. Despite his attitude, he's actually rather intelligent - though not necessarily when it comes to knowing the ins and outs of coordinating battles. |
Name: Capoeirah (kah-poh-AY-rah) Species: Buneary Role: Coach Neither Capoeirah or its derivative Eira are this Buneary's true name. That is only known to those in the small community of Buneary & Bunnelby lines she comes from. It is a long standing tradition of her community that birth names should be concealed from outsiders; all who live there are given a nickname upon coming of age to be used with any being from outside the community. She had been trained in martial dance from a young age as per the traditions of her community. After she left, she was recruited as a team member for a Hitmonchan coach who had been brought up in a similar style. She stayed with his team for a long time despite his constant attempts to convert her to his methods. He went from gentle pointers to harsh punishment in a very short amount of time when she refused to fully use his style of martial dance in their battles. Eira stayed, though, relying on the ever smaller cuts of the rewards and the structure of the team, until the Hitmonchan outright dismissed her from the team. She spent a while in a depression, living the most basic life the Cerian government provided. Eventually she found a mixed-race martial dance club in her current city and began practising again. Through that, she found her inspiration to bring the fun of martial dance back into tournaments and began again as a coach, determined to help her team use and develop their own styles. She's so well thought out! Great job on her backstory and personality. She's a very compelling character and is most definitely accepted. You can choose your starter and start spending your actions whenever you're ready. |

Name: Allan Species: Sylveon Role: Citizen Allan often comes off as abrasive in first impressions. He isn't prone to seeking companionship for its own sake and is in possession of a great deal of obvious pride, making him both unskilled in common social discourse and of the opinion that he's no reason to improve. He's blunt and sometimes snarky with those he has no reason to respect and business-like with those he does. If there's one thing he lacks in spades, it's charisma. Of his greatest virtues, he possesses an incredible sense of loyalty and duty. This is doubly true when it comes to his family. He is acutely aware of how his actions and achievements affect his parents' standings in their social circles, continuously driven to accomplish more and yet always worried that he isn't pushing himself hard enough. His parents are both demanding and fawning in spades, encouraging him with their praise and pressuring him with the shame he feels would follow failure. It was his love for his family that triggered his evolution, a fact he takes great pride in. Once his mind is truly set to something, Allan will put in any amount of effort to succeed until he is convinced otherwise. He is diligent and studious, willing to pour hours upon hours of time into his studies. It's easy for him to become obsessive to the point of ruin and because he often holds himself to impossible standards he's a constant victim of anxiety. |
The first to know of Capoeirah's decision to become a coach was her closest friend and primary martial dance partner Muay, a recently evolved Monferno. Muay had always been intrigued by the world of tournaments and matches and begged Eira to take him on as a team member. Eira was hesitant at first due to Muay's youth and unpredictability, but he convinced her by claiming that he'd just find another coach to take him if she did not. Knowing him as well as she did, Eira concluded that she would probably be better fit to introduce him to professional matches than most other coaches. Langley, a newer member to Eira's martial dance club, happened to overhear the conversations between Eira and Muay and demanded in on Eira's team. The Pawniard, while very competitive and brash, had immediately hit it off with Muay and shared a similar interest in the competitive world. She wanted to take martial dance onto official grounds and hey, who better to lead that endeavor than Eira, who had so much experience with both? Eira, nonplussed, accepted this reasoning and her new team member. So much happened in such a short amount of time- it was a little overwhelming, to have made a tentative decision about the direction of her life and then been thrust straight into it. Actions Taken By Eira, Week of September 6th+ Recruited Langley (Pawniard, lv 5) + Coached Muay; +5 lvs (Chimchar, lv 10) + Coached Langley; +6 lvs (Pawniard, lv 11) |
When they started out, Ezreal and friends didn't really have much of a proper team going. Sure, they'd battle some other rookies for extra cash now and again, but it was mostly all for fun. Now that Ezreal had that proper competitive itch goin' though, he was wanting to test their luck against an actual gym. Out of all of em, Ezreal had the most experience actually being in fights - which counted for jack all since he wasn't gonna be doing any fighting. The other guys mostly had experience lounging around clubs and failing to pick up chicks. Not that they were gonna hear any of that. Big bad tough guys, every one of em. Nevermind the fact that at least one of em had only ever been in a fight once in his life and he'd gotten his ass handed to him. Clowns were feeling all nice and hot-blooded, anyway. This was gonna be a lot of work. Spoiler: Actions

It was Muay who excitedly suggested challenging a gym. Surprisingly, he had done a significant amount of research. "Look, Eira, this one does two-on-two matches- we qualify! There are two teams this leader uses, so we can pick which one to go against. The one most teams choose to battle is the one with Kricketune and Swoobat- apparently they're easier. The other one is Lucario and Espeon. Either way, both Langley and I have a type advantage over half of their team. And it's rumored there's a better reward for defeating the second team, so we should totally go for that one!" Eira gave him a slow, deliberate once-over as she considered this information. Her team had battled this particular gym while she was with That Coach and they had defeated Kricketune and Swoobat. She herself had taken out Kricketune with combinations of Fire and Ice punches. That had been her first victory. She sighed. "I know how the first team is led. I don't know much about the second. A better reward could be good for us, and I'm sure defeating the more difficult team would be worth something to future recruits. I'll let you two decide, though- this is your team as well as mine." Langley and Muay exchanged cheeky grins and cheered, "Lucario and Espeon!" Eira laughed. "We'd better get training, then!" Actions Taken By Eira, Week of September 13th+ Coached Muay; +5 lvs (Chimchar, lv 15) > Muay evolved into Monferno! (i mean in story he was already but anyway) + Coached Langley; +6 lvs (Pawniard, lv 17) + Battled Ezreal; was defeated. :( |

Actions for Week of September 20th+ Challenged Gym, lost. + Recruited Baryon (Sandile lv 5) |
This was supposed to be the post for last week, but since it's so late I'm just putting it here. It all started when a certain fiery monkey was in a bit too much of a hurry and a certain anthropomorphic hound was in a bit of a mood after a fight with his girlfriend. The setting was a busy Cerian street, a diverse selection of citizens bustling about and chatting among themselves. The Lucario was drowning them out with a pair of wireless earbuds, a sick feeling rising in his stomach at the words that had just been exchanged. The Lucario snapped out of his thoughts as Muay knocked into him and a snarl flashed across his muzzle. "Yo! Watch where you're going, punk," he said, towering over the shorter man. With a click he paused his music. "Sorry bruh, just walking," Muay said, putting his hands up in a 'I mean no harm' sort of gesture and making to continue on his way. "Yeah, well be more careful next time," the Lucario snapped, giving an annoyed flick of his ears as he turned to leave. "Idiot," he muttered. "The hell you say?" the Monferno said mid-step, turning and putting himself as much in the Lucario's face as he could. "I said you're a ****ing idiot and you need eye augments," he said, shoving Muay backwards. The Lucario made to continue - and was cut off as Muay's tail suddenly flared up, the ape bellowing a roar that caused the surrounding civilians to jump back as he spat flame at the taller Steel type. Lucario took the hit point-blank, yelping before deftly stepping forward - and slamming Muay with a glowing palm. His eyes were feral, his fangs exposed. People were scrambling away to avoid the brawl. Muay took a shot at Lucario's knees and Lucario danced back, putting his arms up defensively and locking his eyes on Muay. Muay began to move rhythmically, dancing back and forth, low to the ground. He spit embers on either side of Lucario, steadily hitting closer and closer. The Lucario let Muay set the rhythm for a moment - then surged forward with a Force Palm as Muay was shooting embers to his side. Muay was knocked down and skid backwards, firing another shot mid-motion. Most of the embers went wild and the carefully tended flowering bushes were quickly ablaze. Lucario tanked what little portion of the attack actually went towards him and immediately rushed forward to follow up with another blow. And the Monferno was down. Lucario chuckled a bit, licking his lips as a grin overtook him. That had been exactly what he needed. He was smiling right up until the two of them were surrounded by cops. Spoiler: Actions

Cerian Faction: Rathina Rathina has evolved much over the years. Their culture dates far before the original Cerians so much as stepped foot on Wyvern's Vale. In primal times they were little more than great tribes of clashing Noivern warriors until one powerful alpha set out to unite them under one leader. The battles were long and fierce, but along with her loyal followers she defeated them each in turn until she stood supreme. She spoke to them words of what unity could bring, how their species would flourish and how the Noivern of Wyvern's Vale would one day rule unchallenged and unchallengable. That was hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Today, Rathina is a series of primarily Noivern-inhabited cities built into the cliffs of Ceriah's eastern mountain range and any tracts of land surrounding them not claimed for Cerian cities. Though for a long time they held strong to the belief that Noiverns were the ideal and perfect race, since the days of Ceriah's unification of the territories of Wyvern's Vale they have become more open. Now they are home to a variety of Cerian-native dragons and other races wishing to train amongst Rathinian warriors. The Zubat and Gligar lines, long a part of their society and long regarded as inferior creatures only suited to being servants and slaves, have recently experienced a surge in social mobility. Crobat and Gliscor are now found among middle and occasionally the upper classes of Rathinian society, though Noivern are never found in the lower classes. Some Rathinians have become resentful of what they consider lesser entities earning positions as respected warriors, but these people are in the minority. Social Structure Rathinian society is governed by a caste system. Warriors are considered almost akin to nobles in other cultures, holding the highest status and reaping the greatest benefits. The only position higher than that of a member of the Grand War Council is the head of the council itself. The General of Generals, Champion of Champions, Hero of Heroes... The titles lavished upon Rathina's leaders are many and impressive. It is they whose word is law above all else and who is sworn to protect the people with their life. It is a warrior's duty to improve themselves daily and always strive to pursue excellence in all of its forms. Power, agility, endurance, skill - all must be honed to a razor edge. One must always be stronger for the people they are sworn to defend. To allow an enemy even a shred of mercy, to let one escape when it might risk an innocent life - you may as well find your child and begin to twist the knife. Protect the people, above all else. Strength is the greatest virtue of all; for without strength, nothing loved can be safe. A Rathinian warrior will dedicate his entire self to this purpose. Reading and writing, operating and typing with Cerian technology - these are considered a servant's job. Though it was originally Cerians who insisted upon the education of the Rathinian civilization, Rathina eventually delegated that a warrior's time was better spent and that trusted servants were more suited to what was nothing more than another sort of labor. In modern times, scholars are indeed considered a particularly valuable class of servant. An upperclassman would never be caught reading a book. A proper warrior would have a servant read aloud to them. A well-mannered and efficient servant is considered a great treasure in Rathina and such are treated with respect and care. It's a grave insult to mistreat another warrior's servant and treating your own poorly is greatly frowned upon. The Laws of Creation The fact that people of other societies allow anyone, no matter how weak or dull or irresponsible, to hold the responsibility of creating life and rearing children is often cited as The Reason for a great many of the problems in the world. This is often so obvious that it goes without saying. To be worthy of creating and shaping a life is considered a great and sacred honor. It has long been the tradition and social obligation of the Rathinian warrior to choose a mate from within his or her ranks. Those who are deemed not strong enough are not permitted to pass down their traits to the next generation. Those who are strong are expected to find someone worthy of this strength with which to create many children. To not do so is to fail an important duty to society. Servants are held to these standards as well, though they are chosen for different traits. These children, if not particularly desired by the parents, are often placed with a suitable family who had desired children but were not Chosen. It's unusual, however, for both parents to reject the duty of child-rearing as important a task as it is to ensure Rathina's future. This duty is in no way related to romantic affections; it's normal and expected for a warrior to pursue love - and it's generally accepted that it's fairly unlikely for love to attach itself to the ideal mate with which to create a child. Regardless, love - separate as it is from duty - is expected to be monogamous. Due to countless generations of selective breeding, Cerian Noivern are more muscular, equally aerodynamic, and significantly larger than foreign breeds at slightly over double both height and weight. Most Cerians belief this to be the normal size of Noivern and are often surprised by how small those of other nations are. This a restricted race and the creation of characters from the Rathina Faction must be discussed with me beforehand. Spoiler: Game Mechanics

Rama Rama is the thriving capital of the Rathina territories. It's the largest of their cities, their center of commerce, and the seat of their governmental bodies. Rama is primarily comprised of a series of huge, crudely carved tunnels and massive rooms capable of allowing great flocks of Cerian Noivern passage at once. Navigating it is near impossible for one that cannot fly or cling to walls in the fashion of a Noivern. Many birds have trouble with certain sharp turns that a bat's wings handle with ease and a human would need spelunking equipment to even consider navigating alone. Accommodating to creatures that can see in the dark, Rama has no lights or torches set up in its tunnels - it is entirely pitch black. In fact, if a man were blindfolded and led into the middle of one of its "streets" with a small lanturn he might not realize he was in a city at all. The halls are not decorated with anything more than the occasional map etched into a wall, often at locations befitting one who is hanging upsidedown, and nothing distinguishes the tunnels aside from the rooms they connect to. The entrances to the city are located on sheer mountain cliffs almost impossible to climb even with proper equipment and Rathina has declined to make its cities more accessible for security reasons, making casual tourism a tricky endeavor. The Grand Colosseum The Grand Colosseum is one of the most beloved sites in all of Rama. Deep within the heart of Rama, the Grand Colosseum is a great cavern of rough stone, nearly a mile tall and three times as wide. There is no seating or lighting in this place - the audience hangs from the black ceiling and watches with night-piercing eyes and echolocation both. During large events the room echoes with the literal roaring of the crowd. It is here that Rathinian Olympic competitions are held. Warriors engage in fierce tests of strength, aerial acrobatics, endurance and more, including team-based sporting events and gladiatorial battles. Support for different teams can sometimes make the audience near rabid - and unlike a typical human event where fights would be broken up, such brawls are enjoyed and encouraged as livening up the event. The Bazaar Rathina is capitalistic, though it relies on the barter system instead of any form of currency. Within a great stone cavern in Rama is held the monthly bazaar. The black room bustles with the chatter of merchants and customers - to a human incapable of understanding the language of Pokemon, the room may well sound like a great cacophony of draconic snorts and snarls. To one capable of seeing in the dark, the room is filled with rows of Rathinian merchants - as well as a sprinkling of merchants from other factions. Flocks of Noivern guards, armored in what appears to be Cerian tactical gear, carefully watch the proceedings as they cling to the cavern ceiling in the manner of a bat. Some Gliscor and Crobat are among their ranks, though they are in the minority. Species outside of these three lines are rare. The merchants themselves tend to have their goods spread out before them on the stone floor, some merchants opting to place them upon a blanket when appropriate. Here there is a more even spread of Noivern, Gliscor, and Crobat - bartering is an acceptable task to assign to a servant, after all - as well as a number of representation from the other sovereign civilizations of Ceriah come to hawk their goods to Rathinians. Some of these foreign merchants have dim torches or even electrical means of light around their stall if only so that they themselves can see. During the bazaar is the easiest time for a non-Rathinian to enter the city as many Rathinians offer services - at a price - to lift merchants or potential buyers up to the event. |
Okay, guys! I'm all set to run a little tabletop event to resolve the next few bits of "In Defense of Ceriah" and I have some questions I'd like to ask! There are a few different ways we can do this. One way is we all get together and work on your character sheets and movesets which I understand some people are having trouble with. The other option is for me to provide a number of premade characters you can run through the event with instead. This lets you work on your stats after you have a better concept of gameplay. Now, the second question is that of availability. My preference for this kind of game is to run it real-time over Skype and Roll20. Obviously, if we can't all get online at the same time that won't work. So let me know your availability and if you think you can attend a real-time Skype event. Just put a little post below with your thoughts, general interest level, and timetables! |
I guess premade characters? I mean, I'm getting the gist of it but there may still be some that makes me scratch my head and go Psyduck-like.
Confuzzled. Maybe premade character might give an idea how it works? Better concept than circling around. I don't like making lots of mistakes or Sniper will have my head. jk. haha. Skype? It depends, really, whether I am available. My time is different as in you're more online when it's morning here. As in, 1am-5am? Here in my place. ;_; If you need to know time here, it's GMT+8. |

Writing for Week of September 20thThey had lost. And the fighting had begun. Langley was angry at Muay for getting thrown in jail and missing training. Muay blamed Langley for their loss because she insisted on leading. Langley redirected that blame to Eira for letting her lead. Eira was trying her hardest not to let her emotions show, but she had failed. Failed her friends, failed herself. Why did she think she wanted to be back in this world? She didn't know what she was doing; she'd never coached, never had to think strategically on her feet. Leaving her team members screaming at each other in front of the gym, she walked without thinking, without any aim. Just walked. "Hey." She was so useless, just like he had told her she was. Just like she'd always be. "Yo, coach girl." Always thinking of herself. Always trying to do things her way. Just hindering the team... She ran headfirst into a solid body mass. "Hey. Been try'na talk to ya." A Krokorok wearing some sharp shades grinned down at her as she apologized profusely. "'ey, none of that. Ya got a lot on ya mind, it's all good. Saw that match; y'all fought like hell. Pretty cool moves ya had, too." "Oh... I didn't think they let people watch gym matches...?" He waved a hand. "Well, ya know." She didn't. "Anyway, I never seen that kinda thing in battle before. I'm intrigued. Count me in for ya team." "Uh?" Just like that? "Some advice, though- I been watchin' that gym for a while. Only seen one team win against the ones you battled. Guess what? It ain't worth it. The only prize is a tough match and a braggin' point. And you got enough of a gimmick to recruit more people with that dancing- you don't need anything else." He grinned toothily. He couldn't do so any other way, really. "This day next week. Try again. I'll see ya then." He walked off into the night, leaving Eira a bit shellshocked. Actions for Week of September 27+ Trained Baryon; +5 lvs (Sandile, lv 10) + Challenged Gym; won! Coach Event: Novice Recruitment Fair Advertisements for a fair of modest size have begun popping up around Valoran City, the definitive center of activity in the coaching world. The premise is quite simple - it was to be a little recruitment fair to help novice coaches find new team members. Coaches would battle each other in an attempt to impress people looking to join a team. A few arenas had already been reserved for the day of the event - there even promised to be snack booths of moderately reasonable pricing! Fairs like this popped up every now and again for coaches of varying levels of experience and it was a neat little opportunity for those just starting out. The mechanics of this event are simple. Everyone will battle each other round robin, best two out of three, and PM or Skype the results to me. The Set Level is 20 and matches will be 3v3. Pokemon below level twenty will be raised to level twenty and unlock their level twenty movesets/evolutions for this event only. All items except Mega Stones, no duplicates. Any IVs and EVs. You receive a point for each person you defeat. Points will be redeemable towards a free Recruit action. If you get many points, you'll be able to earn better recruits! Actual reward values will be posted when the number of participants has been determined. Confirmed Participants Capoeirah (Anna), Ezreal (Grimm), Mewana (Bacteriophage), Mock (Foxrally), Morgana (Hopeless Masquerade), Quinn (ForeverBurning), Reginald (「sarcasm), Sub_023.r2, (Mimi) ??? Name: Mock Species: Muk Role: Coach/Missionary A result of BadrTech's early unsolicited experiments on Pokémon. Mock is one of the most 'intelligent' Pokémon on Badr to date, having the ability to (relatively) comprehend written language, and write - though his mental capacities stop there. With the spelling of a dyslexic five-year-old, and the attitude of one, Mock is pompous, arrogant, obnoxious and awfully degrading to any Pokémon who doesn't share the same 'abilities' as him. Being a lover of the arts and an amateur author, Mock prides himself in the intellect he has gained through turning the pages of books. He is honest and speaks his mind - and his mind a very filthy place. He has been sent to Ceriah by the Badr authorities as a social experiment to see how formerly wild Pokémon can interact and adapt to the culture of a more modern society. His current method of transport is a large hamster-ball-like plastic sphere, filled with water, which he manually controls to roll around. A built-in keyboard and speaker allow him to release his harmonious 'words of wisdom' onto unfortunate listeners. The sphere also contains two retractable metal arms, as well as a computer chip near the speaker which acts as an antenna and a storage device for his allocated Porygon, which he has not named yet. |

The Valoran arena complex was swarming as always with coaches from various reaches of Ceriah, a precious small few of them here for something so trivial as a recruitment fair for beginners. A decent little crowd, mostly first forms considering joining a team, was gathered to watch the event in the stands behind the safety of reinforced Cerian plexiglass. Little chrome video recorders were quietly watching the contestants, but currently the screens only displayed commercials for various Cerian products. As the matches began and the screens switched their focus to the contestants, the audience locked their eyes on the arena and chewed their snacks. The Recruitment Fair has begun! First GymIt had been a task in itself to get Muay and Langley to swallow their pride and battle the standard tier team, but Baryon had been right. There was really no point in battling the higher tier team; the gym leader had confirmed it for them. Baryon watched the two run through Kriketune and Swoobat without too much trouble, though Muay did go down. Such was the relief after their first win that it was done that Muay and Langley even admitted Capoeirah's choice was the correct one. Baryon sent them off to his apartment ahead of him, telling them to rest up and eat whatever he had. Eira was reading the news when the door slammed open and Baryon waltzed in. “Was partyin’ with the family,” he explained, despite nobody asking. “Got some hot info, coach girl. Gonna be a tourney soon. Low-level stuff, you know. Y’all are in the right range for that. Good exposure for you, too. Might get another member out of it.” Baryon slapped a flyer down in front of her and watched as Eira blinked at it. “That… sounds interesting. It says teams of three- would you be with us for it?” He laughed. “Nah, nah, I’m a little overpowered for that stuff. Got someone that’ll run with ya though. He’s-- ah, there he is.” The door Baryon hadn’t bothered to close filled with the bulk of a Vigoroth. “BARYON!” he roared, “You gave me the wrong unit number. Again.” Baryon lifted his arms, clearly expressing the sentiment of ‘what you gonna do about it?’ “You could actually bother to learn where I live someday, ya know.” The Vigoroth dismissed that idea with an offhand wave. “So where’s this coach?” “Right here.” “What, the Buneary?” “Excuse me; my name is Capoeirah,” she responded coldly. “Ah- sorry, sorry. My bad. I’m Visi. Uh. I didn’t expect such a… small… coach.” “My size is irrelevant.” Visi put up his hands in surrender. “Yeah, yeah, that’s fair. Sorry. Anyway. I haven’t found a team to run with for this tourney yet, and Baryon told me you were lookin’ for a third. I’ve been in a bunch of tourneys, just haven’t found the right team to stay with yet. Think of it as a trial run for me, with you. All right?” As brash as the man was, he looked like a brawler. Eira knew her team was shaping up to be fairly physically focused, but recruiting was not easy and she’d take what she could get. “I’ll have you for the tourney, Visi. We’ll see how you fit with us after that.” Scenes from the Tourney“You know, Beedrill are much less terrifying than I have been lead to believe.” “You ain’t met many of them yet, coach girl.” --- vs Sub_023.r2 (Mimi) “We have got to set up a better counter to Fletchinders. That guy nearly melted my claws off.” “Wouldn’tve happened if you were faster, steel girl.” “Baryon, I am made of steel. I am not ever going to be as fast as a bird!” --- vs Reginald (sarcasm) “Think I might’ve messed up my hands punching that Chansey for twenty minutes.” “You better not have. We need those.” “Chill, coach, it was a joke.” --- vs Mewana (Bac) “Damn- Muay- no-” “He’s right. There. Langley, I could get him from here, I swear, stop holding onto me-” “You’re going to get us disqualified, you ass!” “The hell you two doin’?” “I fought with that guy over there a few weeks ago.” “He kicked ya ass, didn’t he?” “He totally did.” “Langley!” “Hah. Chin up, monkey boy, we’re fighting them next. You can get your revenge then.” --- vs Ezrael (Grimm) “That Braixen nearly got me. You two were useless against them, too.” “I can’t change my type! ...Stop laughing at me!” --- vs Morgana (Lost) “We were done before we started against that Hitmontop.” “Y’all gave the rest of the team a hard time, though. It’s all good.” “I can’t feel my face.” --- vs Mock (Foxrally) “I think I’m starting to hate fighting types.” “Muay, you are a fighting type.” “I give up. I don’t want to fight a Hitmonlee.” “Stop laying on the ground, Muay.” “But Eiiiiiraaaaaaa…” “Stop it.” --- vs Quinn (ForeverBurning) “I’m so happy that Fletchinder wasn’t using any fire moves. We would’ve been done.” “Can any of us learn a Rock move? That might be helpful down the line...” “Hey, it’s partyin’ time! Leave the strategizing for later.” --- vs Natsuko (Cathy) Prizes Won★ Experience for Muay, Langley, and Visi, +2 each ★ Recruit: Saque (Shuppet) ★ Coaching for Saque, +7 ★ Coaching for Saque, +7 ★ Saque knows Gunk Shot Actions for Week of October 11+ Coached Visi, +4 + Coached Visi, +4 + Coached Baryon, +5 Team http://pldh.net/media/pokexycons/427.pnghttp://pldh.net/media/pokexycons/391.png http://pldh.net/media/pokexycons/624.png http://pldh.net/media/pokexycons/551.png http://pldh.net/media/pokexycons/287.png http://pldh.net/media/pokexycons/353.png |

After the TourneyThey danced throughout. Ever-moving, always graceful. Even the heavy one; even the coach. Light on their toes- bouncing, ducking, dodging, sweeping... dancing to a rhythm no-one else could hear. The Banette danced in time with them as she watched. Playful, energetic, dangerous. Beautiful. Over too quickly. The Buneary halted as she stepped from the shadows. "Hello- do you need something?" She pulled a chalk from the pouch around her waist. Dance, she wrote on the concrete beneath them. "Oh! You liked our style? Thank you. I was raised to battle that way." Join. "Really? Well- yes, of course! We're always looking for new team members. The Second Gym"I'm sorry, Saque. Pursuit isn't... I've never been good at dealing with it. I expected it; I gave you that berry, but... I should have let Muay finish the Ivysaur. Maybe? I... don't know. If he had gone in and it had hit him, I don't think he'd have been able to finish the Tauros. Was sacrificing you the only way? I'm sorry. I'm not very good at this." Saque tilted her head quizzically. "I was an athlete before. And then... something happened. I haven't been a coach very long, but... we never do as well as I want." Chalk appeared in hand, pink to show on the white wall. High expectations. "Do you think so?" Young athletes. Young coach. Saque shrugged. "You think it's to be expected?" Nod. "Baryon and Visi though, they're experienced. I mean, Baryon is. Visi hasn't been on a team before, but he battles. I... now that I think of it, Baryon hasn't battled for me yet. I guess everyone is less experienced than I think they are. I just think there's... more I could be doing." Coach. Dance. "Is that really working, though? Muay and Langley know a lot of what I know. Baryon and Visi are picking it up quickly for such big guys. And you... your style is unique but fantastic. I don't know if I could even coach you well." Structure. Experience. "Oh. If that's what helps you, I'll do my best to work with that. Maybe... I guess I'll talk to the others. I don't even really know what they want from me. I... I should really know that. Thanks, Saque." InterludeThe sounds of Visi and Baryon sparring were drowned out by both their own trash-talking and the peanut gallery of Muay and Langley. "Damn, Baryon, you slow as hell today!" "Still faster'n you, steel girl! Hah, Visi, what t' hell was that supposed to be?" "Booooo, learn to punch!" "Not all of us have Iron Fist!" "Iron Fist doesn't help if you straight up miss! Eira snickered and Saque tilted her head. "You didn't hear anything." Saque mimed zipping her mouth closed, then laughed her silent laugh. Such fun people she had found. People willing to work with her, learn from her, incorporate her own styles and lessons into their established techniques. People willing to interact as more than just coworkers. Bonding with her team, her team bonding with each other- what a wonderful, beautiful experience. Muay and Langley cheered as Baryon flipped Visi over his shoulder, slammed him into the ground, and stood on him while pulling victory poses. "Congratulations, Baryon!" Eira called, strolling into the ring. "Your footwork's lacking, though." "I'm heavy, Coach. Can't go too fast." "It isn't all about speed; form is important as well. Don't think I didn't see you stumble over your own tail." "Hey, things happen." "Watch my feet. All of you, please. Baryon, square up." Eira danced, Baryon following. She matched his pace, tapping here, there, bouncing, weaving, ducking. A jab into his swishing tail- "Owww, coach! Don't Ice Punch me!" "Uh? Sorry I- didn't mean to?" Eira looked at her paws in confusion. Snow sprinkled from them for a moment, then her vision was obscured by steam as they heated up for Fire Punch. Electricity darted down to her elbows, discharging into the air before Eira's paws glowed with the light of three elements at once. It spread down her arms, engulfing her body in light and her form began to shift. The white energy increased, pulsed, and exploded out of her, throwing Baryon to the ground. The rest of the team rushed over as soon as their eyesight returned. Visi dragged Baryon to his feet and joined the others, hovering worriedly around their dazed coach. "Eira-- Eira, are you okay?" She looked at her paws once more, prodding the fur that now covered her wrists. She put them to her head and ran them down the new length of her ears. "I... evolved?" "Pretty dramatically, yeah," laughed Langley nervously. "How... unexpected," Eira said, and blacked out.
