Having a PKMN enter battle without PokeBall

As some of you probably know, I'm trying to remake Yellow on a Emerald rom. In Yellow, Pikachu enters the battle without a PokeBall animation. In HeartGold & SoulSilver, your leading PKMN enters battle from behind you. Is there a way to recreate that on to Emerald or any other gba game?

One extra question: In a hack of Gold called Prism, you have the ability to play as your PKMN. What I've seen it was by your leading PKMN and they how their own Overworld sprite. Is there a way to do that in a gba game?

I remember Perri Lightfoot had a hack of Ruby where you played as a Pichu. The way he/she did it, as best as I can guess was by replacing the pokeball sprite with a transparent one and replacing the trainer back sprite with a Pichu's. That's the best way that I know of, but that hack was from a while ago and a better way may have surfaced since then. That's the simplest way that I know of though.

Oh I did something similar for my hack. It wouldn't be an issue to exchange the trainer sprite for the Pokemon I think. Hmm, I'll post more details when I'm not feeling excessively lazy. I'll quote your post so you get the notification when I do ^^
