Question of the Day What would you say you've spent most of your time doing in the Pokemon games? |
Swimming. I am in the water way too much in game and end up doing most of my leveling there too regardless of the region.
|
Listening to the Gym Leader music, mostly! If not that, then probably just looking for all of the pokemon in a certain area for the pokedex because it's.. a habit. A habit on getting all of the main pokemon for the dex. :]
|
Currently, I spend most of my time breeding and training Pokemon. But sometimes - since I've beaten the game and have no real goal and since breeding Pokemon can be very time consuming and boring - I just stand in whatever location I'm in at the moment and do nothing (or distract myself with the computer and leave it on for a while). Then I realize that I have nothing I want to do in my game, turn it off, and walk away from it for the rest of the day to sometimes a week. I really want the next game to come out. I even have a team set up and everything.
|
Probably breeding.
|
Most of my time is spent training and breeding for competitive teams~ Which is funny because I don't even do Wi-Fi battles that often. I just do it because it's fun, and it feels so rewarding to finally get that perfect max IV Poke ^^

What would you say that you’ve spent the most time doing in Pokemon games?
Level grinding for sure. I always like to be ready for my next important battle. |
Breeding or battling.
|
Depends the game!
In gen IV, battling with trainers In gen V, going under water near undella town to the abyssal ruins to get all the statues and stuff lol In gen VI, in the battle chateau! |
Mainly just grinding Pokemon to rotate onto my in-game team. Boring but it's worth it.
|
Dex filling. The main story of any Pokemon game never takes me more than 15 hours; the other 80+ I invest into the game comes from wandering routes, training, and breeding Pokemon in order to complete the Pokedex and have one of every type of Pokemon sitting in my boxes. |
Prior to gen 6 just some random stuff. In X and OR I spend a lot of my time collecting items and Pokedex entries and breeding Pokemon.
|
Well, I've spent the most time, or listening to Gym battle/Elite Four/ etc themes, or exploring some areas, trying to see what Pokémon exist there, the graphics in that area, etc ... I think that's it xD Oh, and in X, I've spent to much time in the Battle Chateau leveling up my Pokémon >.<
|
Exploring, just taking walks. That's what I enjoy the most
in games that have a nice world like Pokemon does :) |
Battling. Geez, I've spent way too much time in battles, grinding up pokemon levels.
|
The first thing that comes to mind is training, definitely! Aside from that, I've also spent a decent amount of time battling online, as well as hatching eggs.
|
Hatching Pokémon and closely followed by training Pokémon, finally trading Pokémon.
|
I've spent most of my time breaking into other people's houses and talking to then without permission.
|
EV training. Sadly, I have been getting urges to train my in-game Pokemon this way since learning about them. (sometimes I even EV train in ROM hacks) My bad habit of being a perfectionist leads me to view them as an "inferior" version of their competitive counterparts. :( Sometimes I end up wishing that I hadn't heard of EVs at all. On the bright side, learning about EVs led me to try out online battling after X and Y were released. Competitive battling helped to eliminate the habit of having four attacking moves in every Pokemon.
|
Great answers! Training and trading seem to be most popular. Thank you 6th gen, for making both of those easier than ever ^^
Question of the Day What’s your worst lost save data horror story? (Remember, save often! Only you can prevent loss of save data!) |
What’s your worst lost save data horror story? This happened to me fairly recently with my copy of Pokemon X. I'd finally managed to get one of every Pokemon in my boxes, and I hadn't touched it for months. I went back to it to get the Diancie event when it was released, and...nothing. The game wouldn't pick up in either of my 3DS. Frantic, I sent it off to Nintendo tech support, who then proceeded to keep quiet for nearly three months before having the audacity to charge me £39.99 for a brand new game: no save data recovery. Apparently the cartridge was faulty, and it happens sometimes with no word of warning. It took me almost a month to find out that much, exactly what they were trying to charge me for. I refused to pay, because why should I? I'd done nothing wrong. Nintendo were the ones at fault, and they'd kept me waiting for months without any idea of what had gone wrong. Without a single word of apology for the delay or for the failure of their product, they sent the faulty cartridge back to me. I sent several very angry e-mails of complaint. They never responded or offered me anything in the way of compensation. Some of the Pokemon on X I'd had since my first Ruby file some ten years previously. Sometimes it doesn't matter how often you save. |
I still play Pokemon Emerald which is my forever favorite considering I dont have a 3ds yet (considering buying this xmas) and I think the most time I've spent is looking for a shiny feebas and planting berries in the process. I mean that was some crazy stuff I did and it took me more than half of my summer.
|
It was on both Pokémon Sapphire and Fire Red.

There were countless amount of moments for me, in which I forgot to save my game before turning off. One would be in Emerald; at one point, I've managed to get through a few locations and defeated around three Gym Leaders straight, all without saving. I wound up getting bored later throughout, and thinking that I did save, I shut the game down. After turning Emerald back on the next night, unfortunately, I've realized that I actually didn't save, and... I was sort of upset at myself, haha.
I'm extra careful nowadays when it comes to saving, and luckily, don't have to face any more troubles related to this. |
Ah the good old data corruption story, two of which I have had happen to me within a year of each other.
My Black 2 and Alpha Sapphire files went corrupt and I had spent so much work on both, including a solid collection of Pokemon, the former had a very high-leveled Join Avenue while the latter was just a hard game for me to get to where it was. Black 2 went corrupt over a year ago now while AS went bust back in June. I started a file on White 2 as a "replacement" for Black 2, but I may find myself not wanting to touch my secondary Omega Ruby copy for a while since I don't get motivated enough to play Hoenn games these days. |
My worst save data corruption happened on my copy of FireRed. I liked my ActionReplay a little too much back in those days and it completely destroyed the save, as well as ruining the cartridge too. It was rather upsetting, because it was one of the few games I played early on that I actually managed to get really far in.
I also have a story similar to Peitharchia, from back when I was still a novice player. I didn't know you had to delete a save file to restart on Diamond, so I played through about two gyms worth of the game before trying to save, only to have my heart ripped to shreds when I wasn't allowed to. |
I recall losing my save file from a Ruby version. It took me awhile to form my awesome in-game team, training them and leveling up them is one thing. The part of losing the irreplaceable Pokémon are the worse thing ever.

Luckily today I have a custom firmware PSPgo that can run full speed GBA emulators, so playing Emerald is now much more fun without the worry of losing your progress. Loss of save data has not been an issue after transitioning into the Gen VI games because I had learned to identify and avoid any bootleg copies. |

The whole "one save file per cartridge" thing takes some getting used to when you're first starting, I'm sure, since there's not very many games other than Pokemon that are like that. It's a good thing you didn't save over your existing Diamond save file though! Quote:

My original Diamond save left a lot to be desired. |
The worst story I can think of was with a used Silver game that I got from Gamestop. I started up a new game and got to the first gym, saved the game and went to bed. Next day, I started it up and the save file was corrupted, so I had to start a new game. I tried saving several times and each time I got a corrupted file. I gave up and have never played a game before Gen 3 since then. It was a shame because SoulSilver turned out to be my favorite game until X and Y. Wish I could have played the original.
I also had an Emerald game that I lent to someone and he never gave it back. I'm sure my file is gone now. I lost several legendaries and many of my original Pokemon from my first ever Pokemon journey traded over from Sapphire. |

Question of the day What's the oldest Pokemon game you currently have in your possession? |
What's the oldest Pokemon game you currently have in your possession? That'd be my copy of Pokemon Yellow, which is...upstairs somewhere. I've long since lost my copy of Red and, whilst I do have a copy of Blue, I didn't get it until sometime after Ruby and Sapphire were released. |
What's the oldest Pokemon game you currently have in your possession?
Sapphire! I still have and play my gen 3 games~ |
What's the oldest Pokemon game you currently have in your possession?
My Pokémon Emerald: Happy 10th Anniversary to my game pak! ^_^ My Silver and Yellow vanished as we move to different places. |
Quote:
I still have my original Pokemon Yellow, which amazingly I got around the time Pokemon was first released in America. It actually does turn on and go through the title sequels, but the graphics glitch up once you up the save file haha |
My oldest game that I have is my original Ruby, this year will mark it being 12 years old. It was my 11th birthday when I first played and I was hooked from the instant and that's what shaped up my Pokemon interests as they are today.
|
The oldest game I own is my copy of Pokémon Yellow, which I got from a friend when I was in grade school. It's actually fully functioning, so I've really lucked out there! :)
|
Platinum, since I lost like all my games.. ;~;
|
Yellow
|
Pokémon Trading Card Game is actually the oldest one I own. I wish I had a proper system to play it on since my earliest system right now is a DS. My oldest main game is FireRed, which was my first preordered game ever and just celebrated its 11th birthday!
|
"What's the oldest Pokemon game you currently have in your possession?"
I own both Red Version and Blue Version! I would like to own a Japanese Green Version someday though, tbh :x I'm actually in the works of trying to get my hands on every mainstream game, and I'm only missing Yellow, Gold, Diamond, HeartGold, Black, and OmegaRuby. |
"What's the oldest Pokemon game you currently have in your possession?"
I currently have Gold with good old data corruption as well |
I DID!! And the save file corrupted right after elite four cause the cartridge is broken or something and I gave up for a while but I started over and hunted for shiny ralts which took me the remaining days of summer and a few weeks bit of school. At least that one didn't corrupt and I got to use my shiny gardevoir in battle frontier. :)))

Question of the day If you could add one Pokemon type to the games, what would it be called? What would its type effectiveness be? |
Sound type
Effectiveness (as the attacking type): 2x - Water, Steel, Ice 0.5x - Flying, Electric 0x - Bug Effectiveness (as the defending type): 2x - Flying, Electric, Bug 0.5x - Steel, Ice, Ground |
Ahaha I like this thread. Should create some stimulating group discussion since everyone will always have prompts :D
Mind if I answer all these? :> What would you say that you’ve spent the most time doing in Pokemon games? Depends on the game. Gen 1-3 I just raised a lot of stuff and focued on leveling things to level 100. Just level grinding back then was so much fun for me. Gen 4-5 I got myself an action replay because I am a filthy cheater and I hacked a lot of Pokemon and taught myself how to EV train and competitive battle. Gen 6 it was hatching eggs. Since it became actually viable to make teams without cheating I spent a lot of time working on the stages of getting something to be competitive and less time on the battling. The most time consuming thing was hatching eggs as a result. I have... I think around 700 hours on X and most of it just hatching thousands of eggs. What’s your worst lost save data horror story? Being a hyperactive kid who was excite for Emerald before it properly came out in England. I was walking around a dubious kind of street market and saw the box art for Pokemon Emerald and thought it must be the American import. Turns out nope, it was a bootleg fake game I bought that corrupted the save file every time I turned the game on. I was so emotionally crushed. What's the oldest Pokemon game you currently have in your possession? Pokemon Gold. I'm not sure where my old RBY carts went. They went missing years ago. I doubt I will ever see them again, which is a little sad. I can't really remember what my teams are even. If you could add one Pokemon type to the games, what would it be called? What would its type effectiveness be? Oh man, toughie. Not sure what the type would be exactly. I'm not creative enough to think of something cool. I though of a "radiation" type when I was a child, but I doubt my description of what I think is a viable type would really be a suitable fit for this. I'll answer something that would be useful as a metagame concept instead. Might be kinda OP though. Perhaps I'll come back to this and edit it later on. Super effective against (x2 damage dealt): Water, Fairy (Argubly the strongest defensive typings with lots of resistances and aren't hit super effectively by much - steel is fantastic too, but since it recently took its nerf by being neutral when hit by dark/ghost I'll let it off) Weak against (x2 damage taken): Dark, Grass, Poison, Bug. (The weakest damaging types in my opinion. Maybe not so much dark type, but right now it's super effective against the stuff ghost is super effective against and I'd like some differentiation) Immune to (0x damge taken): I'd love to say Rock for this. Rock is probably the best offensive type, and having a type immune to stealth rocks in the same way stuff Pokemon that are flying type or have levitate are immune to stealth rocks or poison types can absorb poison spikes would be incredible. I'm not sure how you could justify something being immune to rock though on like a realistic kind of thing though. Having stones thrown at you would hurt anyone :< vs having 4 weaknesses this would be kinda good way to balance it maybe? Resisted by (0.5x damage dealt): Dark, Bug, grass, Poison (Its weaknesses) Resists (0.5x damage taken): Ice, Electric, Fairy, (Screw you bolt-beam! And fairy is too offensively good) Everything else neutral damage dealt or taken. |

If you could add one Pokemon type to the games, what would it be called? What would its type effectiveness be? The first thing that pops into my head is an Aether element, for some reason. It's one of those classical elements that never really translated particularly well into the modern world, and I think it'd be a fairly good fit for Pokemon...or at least give it a more fantasy feel, which is never a bad thing. It'd be effective against Ghost, Fairy and Normal. Fairy needs to be nerfed, so I'd do that out of principle, but as Aether has been thought of as the air the Gods breathed, or the upper atmosphere, it'd make a certain sort of sense for Ghosts and Normal types to be weak to it; mere mortals are beneath the Gods, after all. Weaknesses...perhaps Fire, Flying, and Dark? Aether was often used to describe the motion of light, and everyone loves the light/darkness opposition theory. Flying types would be able to reach the upper atmosphere, so they wouldn't be particularly bothered by Aether - perhaps they could be outright immune to its effects - and Aether has also been translated as "to incinerate" so fire-types would have that covered. ...I'm not very creative in the mornings, OK? =/ |

Question of the Day What's a genre of video game that you'd like to see made into a Pokemon game? |
Quote:
What's a genre of video game that you'd like to see made into a Pokemon game? Well, I was going to say SRPG, but I don't think I could stomach another pathetic attempt at that like Pokemon Conquest...which was hardly worthy of being called an SRPG. So, I'll go with my second choice: A rhythm game. This makes SO MUCH SENSE. Pokemon has some fantastic music, and touch-based rhythm gaming (or button based, I suppose...) is one of the simplest things in the world to just pick up and play whenever, and one of the easiest things to make a good game out of. Higher difficulties mean more notes, so it could be as easy or hard as you wanted it to be. Indulge me for a minute. Here is a screenshot from Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy: http://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/theatrhythm_thumb.jpg Now, swap the four characters for four Pokemon of your choice, and swap Ultros for a Legendary, or a Gym Leader/Elite Four/wild Pokemon or something. Or move the notes a little and have one Pokemon on the right side, as would be traditional. How AMAZING would that be? As you played through stages you could capture Pokemon you went up against, and unlock more stages by defeating Gym Leaders/E4 members to the Gym Leader/E4 battle music from various games. You could have an Adventure Mode, where you crossed continents to Route/Town music, and a Battle Mode where you went up against people and Pokemon to battle music, both remixed and original. Completing stages would get you EXP, which you could then use to teach your Pokemon better moves - to defeat other Pokemon faster - or evolve them, or buy one-off items like a Master Ball to guarantee a capture of a defeated Pokemon, and so on. Add in type advantages etc. and you've got a deep, fun little title you can either play for fun or get technical with...exactly like a mothership Pokemon title. I doubt every song would be included, but Nintendo are fairly good with DLC pricing in relation to content. They could just keep adding to this. Also...imagine Cynthia's piano theme on the highest difficulty setting. Imagine Miror B's Retro Groove. Imagine your favourite track. It'd be AMAZING. Rhythm games are one of the very few genres that work better on the 3DS than other platforms - sorry, but Project Diva F on Vita/PS3 can't hold a candle to Project Mirai DX or Theatrhythm - because of the touch screen controls alongside the button controls, so this would be AMAZING. You could even have it on Wii U, since that has a touch screen controller as well...and imagine the visuals, if that's your thing. Just as long as they didn't use the fugly 3D sprites of the mainstream games, this would be perfect. You know you want it. |
Quote:
Actually, after some Google searching, I came across this: apparently there's a Pokemon rhythm game for iOS and Android in Japan. Spoiler:
It looks kinda fun, but much more simplified than the kind of game you described. And it's apparently only available for a limited time. Edit: It's about that time again! Question of the Day If you could play one of the main series games as an antagonist, which villainous team would you like to be on? |
Quote:
Yeah, I had a proper video game in mind. xD; Still, who knows...we've got Pokemon everything else. A rhythm game might be on the cards for the near future! If you could play one of the main series games as an antagonist, which villainous team would you like to be on? I'd go with Team Galactic, if only because I find them to be the most interesting team - plus I identify quite strongly with Cyrus' nihilistic philosophy and motivations - and I'd rather explore Sinnoh again than anywhere else. The Legendaries are by far the best and the next logical step up from trying to control Dialga/Palkia/Giratina is Arceus, so who knows where that could lead? |
I'd like to see some sort of a 3D Pokémon Game where you play as a Pokémon and the overworld is already the battleground. It'd be mystery dungeon style except there would be a skill upgrade system and you can perform different combos by doing a variety of keyboard combinations.

I'm with Sun for the same reasons. Team Aqua is literally one of my fave villains but that's mainly my love for Water-types showing here. I'd also love to play as Team Plasma because they are from my fave region aka Unova, and I think the original grunt uniforms (the ones from BW, not B2W2) look really smart.
|
I'll join Neo Blak Plasma from the sequels just for their soundtrack which IMHO is the best villain team theme. And I love the colour black and the whole slim military look they've got. The team doesn't have like a strict Pokemon rule so I'll be able to use any Pokemon I want and get by stealing
|
Quote:
I've always found Cyrus really interesting too. And kinda scary too because geez, he wants to destroy the entire universe. Out of all the teams, I think a game where you play as a Team Cosmic member would definitely have the most interesting plot! Quote:
Spoiler:
I'd totally play that if they made a Pokemon game out of it! Quote:

In regards to our September 15 question, the oldest Pokémon game I have in my possession right now would be Platinum. It might not be too old in comparison to, say, FireRed and LeafGreen, but it's still something. I kind of wish I had more older games with me!

Overall, Team Rocket is the team I want to be a part of most. Their goals may look so simple compared to other teams' goals but their goals are realistic and achievable in the real world unlike Team Galactic's destroy the world and create a new one. Their uniforms also look good on me not to mention the cool pink/red hair. |

Team Aqua. It's always left me wondering how they came to the conclusion that flooding the entire world and submerging everything in water is the best approach to their vision. Did they even have a plan to where they would go for refuge once every piece of land is gone? Maybe joining them would put a new, first-hand perspective into that. Normally I would side with Team Magma if it was purely based on objective, but their uniforms don't exactly look optimized for the heat of their base.
I agree with the posts on Neo Plasma too. Their music is in my opinion one of the best out of all the villains, and is not a tune that you get tired of listening to after few times. Plus it's great to not not have your options for Pokemon confined to Zubat and co. |

Question of the Day Have you ever blacked out while trying to catch/battle a wild Pokemon? |
Back in Diamond/Pearl, I blacked out while battling a Psyduck.... a stupid Psyduck of all things. I remember that moment and exactly where it happened too.
|
Have you ever blacked out while trying to catch/battle a wild Pokemon? I don't believe so, no! As a kid I'd always run away if I came close to this - which only ever happened with Legendaries - and now that I'm older I never seem to even come close. |
It's happened to me more often than I'd like to admit ;-; It actually happened recently in OmegaRuby when I was battling Primal Groudon, because I kept using Ultra Balls, but he wouldn't stay in, so I just kept taking damage ><
It's also happened to me once or twice at times when I was really early in the game, and didn't have many Pokemon on my team to begin with. It probably shouldn't ever happen, a single wild Pokemon is completely outmatched by a team trained Pokemon, but I still manage it somehow :c |
I probably had it happen to me when I was young, but I can't remember any specific incidents besides Legendaries, which I reset anyway :P
|
Have you ever blacked out while trying to catch/battle a wild Pokemon?
I don't think I have. The only times I had blackouts were against E4s and when I party too hard. |
Have you ever blacked out while trying to catch/battle a wild Pokemon?
At least once! I remember this quite vividly. I was playing a new file on FireRed and started with Squirtle, which was still my only Pokemon by the time I was at Viridian Forest. I fell to poison and after not having any antidote, I whited out... Lost to a Weedle... I blame the Trainers for weakening me. D: |
I'm in a similar boat to Wiicked here; it probably happened when I was new to the game, and with legendaries occasionally. If it's a normal wild Pokemon found in Grass, I'll usually end up running away and healing at a Pokemon Center :P

Have you ever blacked out while trying to catch/battle a wild Pokémon?
A couple of times, yep. Most of it is during beginning of my game-play, when my Pokémon have low amount of levels and whatnot. It's a little troublesome, but is no longer an issue after you train your party members more. |
Have you ever blacked out while trying to catch/battle a wild Pokémon?
I think it only ever happened to me once, but the fact you just drop money when you black out against a wild Pokemon is just so terrible. As Ashley said, it does become more of an issue early on but after you get far into the game it's less likely. |
Yea, losing your money to a wild Pokemon really does add insult to injury haha.
I realized just now that I derped and posted the same question two days in a row. Sorry about that! New question!: Question of the Day Have you ever used more than one of the same Pokemon on your team? |
Nope, never. Regardless of whether I'm forming a competitive team or in-game team, having two of the same Pokemon on the team is one thing that I actively try to avoid. Different Pokemon from the same evolution line is somewhat tolerable for in-game though. But come on, there are over 700 different species of Pokemon available! (varies depending on game) Why have two of the same kind in your team of six? Of course this is just my opinion; I have nothing against people who do this. :)

I'll also occasionally have several of the same Pokemon of the same species on my team when I'm mass breeding in order to get a shiny through the Masuda method :P |
Have you ever used more than one of the same Pokemon on your team?
No I really haven't, although that doesn't stop me from sometimes catching duplicate species because I may intend to use them for different purposes, like how in OR/AS I caught some Pokemon for battles and others for contests. |
I used two Sharpedos on a team in Ruby before. For whatever reason, I was able to beat the Elite Four when I added the second one, so I guess that worked out :P
|
Have you ever used more than one of the same Pokemon on your team? Yes! I actually ran through SoulSilver using a team made up entirely of Rattata once. I was very bored, and I'd literally NEVER used Rattata before, not even in Red when I didn't know that it wasn't a good idea to try using Pidgeotto in Lt. Surge's Gym. Hyper Fang, Quick Attack and the fact that Team Rocket used them always put me off. But I had a "why the hell not?" moment and caught six of the little buggers to use. That playthrough was in the top percentage of all my playthroughs. |
Have you ever used more than one of the same Pokemon on your team?
Nope! But a team of Giratina is the dream. |
Nah I've never. I always like to treat my Pokemon as though they are the most special and unique gems in the universe so I wouldn't want more doppelgängers of them. Exception to Ditto since it doesn't count xD
Maybe I'll go make a team of Dittos lol |
Hmm...No. Never used the same pokemon on my team.
If I did, well let's just say that my team would be super weak against water, ghost, and dark types. And since that bothers me, no team of six Chandelures for me. T.T Wait, does a team of level 100 Linoones with pickup, all the hms(well most of them), and is only used during the post game count? |
Had a team of all Pikachu's because that thing is just too adorable. :3

But except special games on Showdown of course. ex: Metronome Battle or Wobbuffet Challenge. |
Have you ever used more than one of the same Pokemon on your team?
Never :o I like having diversity and honestly, unless it's a specific challenge, why would you? xD There are a ton of Pokemon so that you can have a ton of Pokemon! :P |
Now that I'm thinking about it, going through the game with six of the same Pokemon seems like it would make a fun challenge! If I did that and had to choose one, it'd be either Mawile or Florges, of course :3

I don't think I could ever use more than one of a Pokémon. When I play the games I like to make very specifically diverse teams, and using two or more of a species has never even crossed out my mind. (Yes, I'm the type to plan out my entire team before playing the game.) |
Have you ever used more than one of the same Pokemon on your team?
Absolutely. I once thought it was a good idea to have 3 Wailord on my team for when I was grinding in Restaurant Le Wow. (It was) http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/wailord.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/wailord.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/wailord.gif |
» Have you ever used more than one of the same Pokemon on your team?
Not that I recall at all. I don't think the thought of doing so has ever come to my mind. :X I just...don't really see the point of it, at least not with how I play (wanting different types on my team and all that). Maybe for training purposes if I have a "better" one and I want to replace the one I already have on my team, but other than that...I got nothin'. |

Question of the Day Would you like the main series games any more/less if they were on consoles instead of handhelds? |
Would you like the main series games any more/less if they were on consoles instead of handhelds? Less. I have always been a handheld gamer first and foremost - due in no small part to Pokemon. Pokemon Colosseum and XD weren't bad games by any means, but they were awful compared to the handheld titles, because they cut so many corners. They COULD have given us a proper version, but instead they watered it right down and made it a linear, thoroughly-dull story driven experience. Sure, it'd look prettier, but who cares? The 3D models they're using in the 3DS games are flat and ugly and overly polished; the sprites were rougher but had a lot more charm; they fit Pokemon perfectly. But let's assume for a wild moment that they wouldn't do that again, and they'd make a proper mothership title on the Wii U, with routes and badges and everything else that makes Pokemon...Pokemon. You wouldn't be able to trade between your versions unless you had two consoles, for starters. You wouldn't be able to take it outside and battle with your friends; as bad as Streetpass is, it's a lot better than Miiverse. Portable connectivity is a huge part of Pokemon and, of course, that'd be taken out if you put it on a console. In short, Pokemon is a series that I feel is betst suited to handhelds, and I can't see a console version ever being very satisfying. |
Would you like the main series games any more/less if they were on consoles instead of handhelds?
I would probably like the main games less if they were on console considering I did not grow up as a Nintendo gamer plus it kinda defeats the purpose of Pokemon's meaning. It's supposed to be monsters you store in your pocket, and a typical handheld console can fit in the pocket so it's explainable and to have it on a console wouldn't make it so "pocket" anymore. |
Would you like the main series games any more/less if they were on consoles instead of handhelds?
Less. I like taking my Pokémon with me wherever I go. :) As Nichole said, it isn't Pocket Monsters if the core games aren't handheld consoles exclusive anymore. |
Less, the main Pokemon games are meant for handhelds in my opinion.
|
I would most likely like the series the same of the games were on console, but there would be a smaller time frame for me to be able to play them. Pokemon is great in the sense that it's mainly developed for handhelds; it's convenient especially of you travel/like to move around a lot. That mobility is something that home consoles simply cannot match, despite having better hardware to compensate for it. On console, the time you have to play the game could be limited by a number of factors, like sharing the TV, how much time you actually spend in your living room etc.
|
I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, being on consoles would mean they'd have improved graphics and would in general be on a more powerful platform. On the other hand, being on handhelds means you can play them on the go (which as Hika and Sun said, fits with Pokemon being Pocket Monsters and all). All in all I'd rather see the main series games remain handhelds, because it's a tried and true formula, but I'd also still like to see more spin-offs on consoles a-la Pokemon Coliseum ^^
