I use Quick Balls most often! The x4 bonus makes it so easy to catch Pokemon with. If it doesn't work, then I just keep throwing Pokeballs at it...then if that doesn't work, Timer Balls :D
Question of the Day Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon? (So for example, if you possess the proper stone to evolve it) |
Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon? (So for example, if you possess the proper stone to evolve it)
I normally wait because pre-evolve might know a good move sometimes and some fully-stone evolve do doesn't learn a move efficiently than pre-evovle also Pre-evolve might know good moves at certain level while evolve one would be take a bit long time to get learn a good moves |
Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon? (So for example, if you possess the proper stone to evolve it)
I only do this when it comes to learning moves, like how most Pokémon who evolve via an evolutionary stone stop learning moves, I'll hold off on evolving them until they learn better moves (like how Floette learns Moonblast and Petal Dance at levels 46 and 51, but Florges does not). Other than that, I don't put off evolution unless I'm doing a NFE challenge. |
What kind of Pokeball do you use most often for catching Pokemon?
I like Dusk Balls, Luxury Balls and Quick Balls. All their designs really appeal to me and they're cool to have, and they have good use, even if the Luxury Ball's power is weak. Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon? Sometimes I do. To name one, in my aforementioned Black 2 Challenge Mode Nuzlocke, I kept my Krokorok as a Krookodile until Level 48 so it could get Earthquake early. And in my main game with X, sometimes I keep Pokémon from evolving if they're two stages and wait until they're one level away from their final form so they gain more EXP until then. |
Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon? (So for example, if you possess the proper stone to evolve it)
I tend to wait until they learn the moves that I absolutely need for that Pokemon, but if it's something whose moveset mainly gets the most from TM moves then I won't care as much and still evolve them anyway. |
Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon?
For me, it's either they evolve when they need to, or I would put an everstone on them so they never evolve. With evolution stone Pokemon, I tend to wait till about level 20 or so before using it. |
When evolving with a stone, I usually wait until the Pokemon has a decent moveset before evolving it. If it evolves by leveling up, I usually don't delay it, since it'll still learn (mostly) all the same moves, albeit at a slower rate.
Question of the Day What's been your favorite Battle Facility so far? |
Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon?
Depends on if they learn a certain move that they can't before evolving, such as is the case with stone evolutions. What's been your favorite Battle Facility so far? I enjoyed the Battle Factory in Hoenn, it's fun having to battle and strategize with Pokémon you didn't raise yourself. |
What's been your favorite Battle Facility so far?
I enjoy mostly on HGSS and DPPT facility. I don't enjoy 5th and 6th gen facility it just lack of fun mixture. |
What's been your favorite Battle Facility so far?
PWT in B2/W2, which I think is quite like a battle facility thanks to all the competitive-strength movesets I see around. I also like the concept of battling old Gym Leaders in one place. |
Which region has your favorite set of starters?
Biased, but Hoenn. Emerald was my first game and I've come to like all three of them most overall out of any other region. My Blaziken Blazer is my old pal from 10 years ago, so the Torchic line has a special place in my heart. <3 Kalos is in second. I absolutely adore Fennekin and Chespin <3 I love both Fennekin's evolutions, especially Braixen, but I don't really care much for Chespin's. Froakie is alright, but I really love Greninja. :) And finally, third place is a tie between Johto and Kanto. I love the Cyndaquil and Chikorita lines all the way through, but I like all 3 of the Kanto starters, and both Mega Charizard formes are just so badass. <3 Have you ever blacked out in a wild Pokemon encounter? I don't remember, but probably. Maybe during legendary encounters. Which makes me think, realistically, wouldn't it be like, really awkward if that actually happened? Like, you're facing against a damn god of the Pokémon world, and all of the sudden you have to leave to heal up your Pokémon while it just waits there for you to come back, and literally nothing happens in the story until you defeat or catch it. It's just so silly {XD} What kind of Pokeball do you use most often for catching Pokemon? I usually go by aesthetic preference, haha :P But a lot of the time I also try to use a ball that would up the catch rate a bit. Sometimes I use a ball that would help the Pokémon's performance (for instance- using a Luxury Ball on Furfrou would boost the power of Return, which in itself is already a STAB move). I often forget to use Quick Balls at the start and Timer Balls during long battles on Pokémon that I'd have a tough time catching, I should pay attention more often :P Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon? (So for example, if you possess the proper stone to evolve it) Back when I didn't really care much about aesthetic preference, I think I always evolved right away. Nowadays, not only do I really like to keep some Pokémon unevolved for a little while longer because I like their designs (I'm desperately hanging onto my precious Braixen and Amaura in XY currently ;-; ), but I also have discovered that unevolved Pokémon learn moves faster than their evolved forms, which is a nice tradeoff :P What's been your favorite Battle Facility so far? What kind of Pokeball do you use most often for catching Pokemon?
Initial playthrough the six set party members will all be in standard Pokeballs. Mild OCDness. Then all Quick Balls if available, otherwise a backup of Ultra Balls as insurance. Dusk Balls when applicable. Do you ever wait before evolving your Pokemon? Always. Even stopping natural evolution for the sake of learning certain moves faster. You can always use Heart Scales nowadays. What's been your favorite Battle Facility so far? Toss-up between the Battle Maison and Battle Subway. Straightforward and uncomplicated. |
My favorite is the Battle Frontier in Emerald! I liked the Battle Frontier in 4th gen too, but the one in Emerald was really something special for me, for some reason. I thought the formats were more creative, and it was more of a challenge for me, which may have something to do with why I liked it more. I've been wanting the Battle Frontier to come back for the loooongest.
Question of the Day Are there any Pokemon you wish had better stats and/or were better competitively? |
Are there any Pokemon you wish had better stats and/or were better competitively?
Nope. If I find a mon who is weak, I don't have to like it, and most of the mons I like are strong. If I feel someone could be slightly improved, I can hope that it gets an evo/mega. |
Are there any Pokemon you wish had better stats and/or were better competitively?
Butterfree comes to mind since it really doesn't have great stats as it is, but I would consider it a favorite of mine, so it would be nice if it were a little stronger. Perhaps they'll bring a new Mega Evolution for it considering that Beedrill has one. |
Are there any Pokemon you wish had better stats and/or were better competitively?
I'm with Wiicked on this one. I've always wanted Butterfree to be stronger. It would also be nice if the Johto starters got a bit of a boost, as they're the weakest of the starter trios from what I've seen/experienced. |
Are there any Pokemon you wish had better stats and/or were better competitively?
Butterfree needs to be buff also johto needs to be bit stronger just like the other starter trios on other region. |
One of my favorites is Florges, and while it is great in battle, but Flower Veil doesn't have much use as far as abilities go. Also, Steelix is another favorite of mine, but it sadly doesn't have much utility due to its low speed stat and its frailty to special attacks.
Quote:
On that subject though... Question of the Day What's the weakest Pokemon you've used in a playthrough? |
Are there any Pokemon you wish had better stats and/or were better competitively?
Luxray and Amaura/Aurorus. I'm not completely aware of why people say Luxray is poor competitively, is it just that it doesn't have good enough moves that are STAB and/or properly complement its stats? As for Amaura and Aurorus, I love them both so much, and I like their unique typing, but that unfortunately gives them quite a few weaknesses, and I think they could benefit from a slightly better moveset. For instance, why on earth don't they know Power Gem? That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's more. |
What's the weakest Pokemon you've used in a playthrough?
I think some of my Platinum playthroughs had me use an Ambipom, but if it has Technician it's at least something decent. I was mainly inspired by Dawn from the anime at the time. But the real cream of the cake was my original Ruby, where I had a Roselia... but granted it was a standalone Pokemon back then. |
What's the weakest Pokemon you've used in a playthrough?
Bidoof or Ratatata anyone. |
I believe during an Emerald playthrough I used a Beautifly throughout the entire game. It's a great Pokemon early in the game, but it's not the best late in the game. Still managed to do well with it though, miraculously enough :o
Question of the Day What's the best thing you've ever gotten from a trade? |
What's the best thing you've ever gotten from a trade?
It's depends if was GTS, Wonder Trade or Direct Trade or PSS trade. Perhaps the pokemon I want from GTS. |
Are there any Pokémon that you wish had better stats or were better competitively.
Delcatty. This is an adorable Pokemon that could be very popular if given something. Give it Fairy Typing, give it some better moves and get rid of the horrendous Normalise Ability. Milotic. Whilst It's not a bad Pokemon per se it really should have got a Mega in the ORAS games considering it is Wallace's (A former Champion) signature Pokémon and was very difficult to get in the Original games. I am bemused how the likes of Beedrill, Glalie and Audino got a Mega and Milotic did not. Ninetales. I'd really like to see Fire/Fairy typing here, maybe as a Mega. What is the weakest Pokemon you have used in a Playthrough. In my Fairy Monotype I took a Jigglypuff to the Hall of Fame. What's the best thing you got in a trade? Quite a few things... A Shiny Male Ralts for a Klang A Shiny Cottonee for a Tornadus A Shiny Kyogre for a Mienshao A 5IV Shiny Espeon from Wonder Trade. A Shiny Latias from Wonder Trade. That's just off the top of my head. |
Are there any Pokémon that you wish had better stats or were better competitively?
There are a few I wish were like this, such as Seviper and Audino. I wish the Mega Evolution for the latter had a better ability perhaps... |
The best thing I've ever gotten from a trade is a 6IV shiny Totodile from Wondertrade during a Wondertrade Wednesday :D That was super lucky on my part. I'm not sure I'll ever score something like that again :P
So, this is something I've actually always wanted to get more into, myself. |
Have you ever done RNG abuse, or considered getting into it?
I have no idea what that is and will probably never use it. What is the weakest Pokemon you have used in a Playthrough? Possibly my ****ing Yamask in one of my Black 2 runs, he could only use a weak ghost attack with meh PP to actually do reliable damage. If it weren't for that, it would be my lameass Jolly Quilava from SS. Can't get the OHKO, Tackle missed more than I expect, and was nothing but fast. Ugh. And honorable mentions goes to my hustle Darumaka for obvious reasons. What's the best thing you got in a trade? I've recently obtained a shiny Treecko in my new run, a wonderlocke. I'm already using that line in my OR nuzrun... But it's SHINY. |
Are there any Pokémon that you wish had better stats or were better competitively?
Chatot should definitely have better stats. The beginning rodents and bugs should be buffed a tad so there's decent Pokemon to use at that time and also so beginning trainers aren't complete pushovers. Have you ever done RNG abuse, or considered getting into it? Back when I was into competitive, I considered it. Finding the Secret ID for shiny pokemon looked like a pain as did advancing frames. When my interest for Pokemon faded, so did my interest in RNG. What's the best thing you got in a trade? Fletching I can't remember now but I got a Braviary with Pokerus on wonder trade. It's probably the best. What is the weakest Pokemon you have used in a Playthrough? I hardly remember any of my in-game teams. Luxray in Pt and Pidgeot in FR were pretty weak... Well, I don't think I've ever used a really weak Pokemon purposely. So Luxray's my answer I suppose? |
Have you ever done RNG abuse, or considered getting into it?
I don't understand the whole RNG system, so never wanted to try. |
Have you ever done RNG abuse or ever considered going into it?
No. I don't really understand it and whilst finding my Shiny ID may help me get more Shinys, I have had a recent happy habit of finding my favourite Shiny Pokémon legitimately. |
Have you ever done RNG abuse or ever considered going into it?
Much I don't get lucky, RNG hates me. |
Are there any Pokemon you wish had better stats and/or were better competitively?
Older question, I know, but I would love for Bergmite and Avalugg to be better competitively! Have you ever done RNG abuse or ever considered going into it? i have never even considered looking into it. |
Quote:
It's a lot to take in, and from what I hear it takes some practice to get it down. I've studied it a bit, familiarized myself with the concepts behind it a bit, but haven't yet tried it beyond downloading RNG reporter. I've been hoping to get into it in order to get my hands on a few shiny legendaries. Maybe one day I'll find the time... Question of the Day If you had to go through a game with only a single Pokemon of your choice, which would you choose? (I'm sure most people will pick their favorites, but you might also want to take strength into account since it'll have to be able to carry you through the entire game!) |
If you had to go through a game with only a single Pokemon of your choice, which would you choose?
The Totodile line. I've been willing to do a Totodile sololock for a long time now, but it's far from ready. |
If you had to go through a game with only a single Pokemon of your choice, which would you choose?
Honedge Line maybe |
If you could pick a single Pokemon to do a solo run with which would you pick and why?
Having recently done a Kanto run using only the Bulbasaur and Vileplume line I'd like to take it one step further and maybe do a Bulbasaur line solo run. Maybe in Kalos where I can take advantage of Mega Venusaur. |
I'd probably choose the Florges line. Great all around, in terms of typing, defense, offense, etc. So I think it'd be able to carry me through the game. Plus it's among my favorite evo lines, so of course that's a major factor too :)
Question of the Day What's the most expensive purchase you've ever made in a Pokemon game? |
If you had to go through a game with only a single Pokemon of your choice, which would you choose?
Zangoose! I have no idea if it's actually a viable choice or not haha but he could surely kill anything with the help of some TMs, in Ruby :3 What's the most expensive purchase you've ever made in a Pokemon game? Um... No idea, sorry haha. |
What's the most expensive purchase you've ever made in a Pokemon game?
I guess clothing items in X. I found myself cash-strapped in most of the early parts because of it. |
What's the most expensive purchase you've ever made in a Pokemon game?
Fashion and customization items in XY I guess, the good looking one seems so expensive. But I can't say if Writ is worth the count also ORAS full restore is most expensive |
What's the most expensive purchase you've ever made in a Pokemon game?: I know in the end I always dump the most money into pokeballs. I experiment a lot so I'm always catching something and have probably used upwards of 5-6k in ORAS alone.
|
I did some pretty heavy spending in Y, and those clothing items can get pretty expensive, so I'll say that :P I recall a few of those restaurants in Lumiose City costing a pretty penny too, but I only ever did the cheaper ones.
Question of the Day What's the luckiest legendary catch you've ever made? (e.g. ever caught a legendary in a basic Pokeball, for example?) |
What's the luckiest legendary catch you've ever made? (e.g. ever caught a legendary in a basic Pokeball, for example?)
Ha! This is a great question because it happened to me today. I was doing the Delta Episode in ORAS and was fighting Rayquaza. I had about 200 Heal Balls which are my favorite and I said to myslf "I am just going to toss one of these and see what happens" I snagged him right away! I believe the catch rate is much better in this game but it was still fun regardless xD |
What's the luckiest legendary catch you've ever made? (e.g. ever caught a legendary in a basic Pokeball, for example?)
During Delta episode, Just as Rayquaza's HP is less 15% I snag it with a regular pokeball and Mewtwo (before teh trade) just caught with 1 duskball (not capture o power and no burn/sleep/paralyzed) |
Quote:
My luckiest catch is very similar, actually. In Black I caught Reshiram in a Heal Ball. Those were actually all I had left, and I only had like 3 or 4 of them, so catching it in one on my first try was prettttty lucky. So! Important announcement, these next 2 will be the final questions for QotD (which means it'll end on New Years. not a bad place to end it, and I actually never expected it to go nearly this long, I just kept it going as long as it was popular!) So, let's make these last two something related to the new year. Question of the Day Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016? (for example, finally completing the Pokedex? Playing that one game you've been planning to play for some time? Doing a Let's Play on youtube for the first time? etc?) |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
For now basically getting a completed documented run, or maybe complete every possible nuzrun I could do. |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
I was planning on completing my living PokeDex in OmegaRuby by the end of 2015 and I finished a little ahead of schedule. I think I'm going to try and breed a full team of shiny 5-6 IV Pokemon. Currently working on a shiny Timid Protean Greninja. Got so many 6 IV non-shinies so far out of ~120 eggs. It'll be here soon... soon... Oh. And of course see how much work I can put into the visual novel I'm working on. Next demo update should be in late January. Ah. Work. Work work work. |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
Mastering about IV/EV and getting a perfect team |
Do you have any Pokémon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
I have to try paying the games more rather than others, definitely. |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
To hopefully find another shiny. It had been months since my last shiny encounter, which was a Zigzagoon I caught in Alpha Sapphire. And hopefully plan to give Super Mystery Dungeon a chance... but unfortunately we are still waiting for it at this stage unlike the US and Japan who already have played it. |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
Yea! I'm going to finish my living dex challenge! I'm at least 80% done with it, so I think it's a realistic goal. |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016? (for example, finally completing the Pokedex? Playing that one game you've been planning to play for some time? Doing a Let's Play on youtube for the first time? etc?)
I need to finally finish Pokemon Alpha Sapphire! I'm just past the 6th gym, so hopefully within the next year I can get past the main story and the Delta Episode! Also, I'd like to get Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon and finish that, once they release it here in Australia ><. |
My new years resolution is to complete my living Dex in ORAS, and like Sukyandaru said, finish Super Mystery Dungeon, and I'd also like to play some of the previous mystery dungeon games I haven't played yet.
And here's our final question! Question of the Day What new Pokemon games or Pokemon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016? |
What new Pokemon games or Pokemon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?
Hopefully the XY third version (sequel or whatever) because we know Zygarde had new forms unveiled so it should be a sign Pokemon Z has to be a thing. |
What new Pokemon games or Pokemon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?

What new Pokemon games or Pokemon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?
Pokemon YZ or XZ or maybe just Pokemon Z |
What new Pokémon games or Pokémon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?
The third version of XY, for sure! I'm also interested to see what kind of games they have in mind for their home console. |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
Lots of things! First, beating Y version, and the immediately moving on back to ORAS to make my progress in it more complete, like getting the rest of the legendaries, getting the remaining Master Ranks of the contests, exploring the S.S. Tidal and Meteor Falls, getting the remaining Mega Stones and other items, and doing other stuff I've probably missed. Otherwise, if I have the time, I'd like to start getting into other miscellaneous things I've always wanted to do but didn't have the time for before, such as shiny hunting, filling up my National Dex, breeding and training perfect stat/nature Pokémon, and other stuff. UPDATE! Just fired up my old Platinum for old times' sake and because I started watching Chuggaaconroy's Platinum playthrough (super glad he's doing Pokémon again, this is gonna be the first time in a while I watch his videos :) ), and I realized I hadn't yet caught Dialga or Palkia. One of the first things I want to do for the new year is buff up some Pokémon and go to Mt. Coronet, get the orbs, and go to Spear Pillar to catch them both. This'll be the first thing I've really done in this game in a long time {XD} It'll be nice and nostalgic :P I've also been planning to get a fresh new copy of Plat to start a new file cause I don't want to save over my old one :P Haven't ever really played through and old game other than when it came out, so this'll be fun I think :) I'm also also considering picking up my LeafGreen and getting past the damn Pokémon Mansion I've been stuck at ever since I was a kid. I don't believe I've ever made it past it, but I think I finally will. I'm disappointed I never finished LeafGreen as a kid, but maybe that will change next year. Other than that, I'd like to get into doing my Emerald randomized run. Also, this is probably a stretch, but I'd like to start watching the anime from the beginning on the 20th anniversary of the games' original release, all the way up to the latest episode. I'm also currently catching up in the Japanese version of XY (absolutely loving it, by the way!) and hope to fully catch up early in the year. What new Pokémon games or Pokémon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016? Z version! After I finish Y, of course, haha. |
What new Pokémon games or Pokémon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?
I can't wait for Pokémon Z they released info and spoilers on it so soon and we have to wait too long for it to be released :{ |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
I plan to play through all the titles (except Gen VI, probably) by the end of the year. It'll be the last time I touch Pokemon for a while though! xD What new Pokémon games or Pokémon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016? I won't say Z until I see an official announcement so I'll say GO instead. It sounds like it'll be quite fun and I'm actually looking forward to it! :D |
What new Pokemon games or Pokemon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?
I'm hoping for a new main-series release. I'm not sure what I want, but whatever comes out is bound to be amazing. |
Gen 7 announcement
Chibi version Snap 3ds |
It's sad the event had to end, but hopefully something new will be going in its place. Cathy did a lot of work to ensure it was possible, but now we must look to the future.
|
Kinda sad to see this event ended since this was one of my favorite threads. I'll answer the last two questions anyway:
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016? I'm currently in a rodent solo marathon, where I'm aiming to solo run Blue with Raticate, solo run Silver with Furret, solo run Sapphire with Linoone, solo run Pearl with Bibarel and solo run White with Watchog. (I could solo run Y with Diggersby but that is if I had Pokemon Y lol), so I hope to finish this Ultimate Solo Run Marathon. Also, I'm hoping to get started with ROM hacking, trying to beat the Pokedex in my Pokemon X run, know more about competitive battling, and much, much more. What new Pokemon games or Pokemon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016? I was about to post about a Gen 1 sequel for 3DS like I usually posted, but at this point Z or X2/Y2 or even a Theta Emerald will be fine for me. |
What new Pokémon games or Pokémon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?
I'm really looking forward to Pokémon GO, it looks like a ton of fun and it will definitely get me exploring more :P I also hope that we get Z this year and I really hope we get a more complete Kalos game with a deeper story. For Cathy, you did a great job with this, it made me think and it gave me something extra to look forward to on the forum every day, so I'm very sad to see it end. |
Quote:
For 2016, I want that Pokemon Z. I think it's coming in 2016, it's just a matter of when. Kalos needs to finally get properly developed, since like you said Wiicked, it just feels so incomplete and it feels like they saved a lot for the eventual third version. Also I'd love to finally get that Volcanion distribution, and a 6th gen Jirachi distribution would be nice too :) For some reason GO has yet to really "grab" me, but I'm still interested to see what'll come of it! |
I'm usually hyper-critical of social activities considering my profession revolves around community, social media, YouTube and the like.
But this was a solid activity. Toughest part must have been keeping up with it day in and day out, more so than coming up with a question. Someone should start another one up. I'd do it, but my vacation days are almost over. When it's back to work, time goes out the window. |
What new Pokémon games or Pokémon gaming releases are you most hoping for in 2016?
Pokenn Tournament! It's been many years I said I'll cry if I see a Pokemon Smash kind of game. Now I can cry, because this game look like it. I can't wait ti play it! (I'll probably use Weavile :3 ) I am not excited for Pokemon Go that much. Sure the concept look awesome but I'm pretty sure it won't be as awesome as it look. |
Nooooo! I just returned to answering questions! ;-;
Thank you so very much for doing this, Sopheria, everyone here is grateful for your time and effort. *bows* I'm looking forward to a next one. xD |
Do you have any Pokemon gaming new years resolutions for 2016?
Complete the pokedex on X, Y and ORAS. Hopefully. |
