Don't throw Poké Balls at me, I'm not a wild Pokémon!
Hello everyone!
Please call me Carapuce31 or just Carapuce. I'm from France, and I have discovered the Pokémon franchise at the age of 8 through the trading card game, and later Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team. It has also been a while since I wanted to create my own Pokémon game, but after miserably failing to do so with a hack (thank you data corruption after 1 year of work...) I figured out there are other ways. And here I am! (And, yeah, English is not my native language so they might be spelling errors or such. ) I hope to spend a good time here! |
Nice to meet you here, Carapuce!
So you attempted ROM hacking a while ago and didn't succeed? PC is certain to help improve your skills thanks to our huge ROM Hacking section, which has everything you need to create the perfect hack along with getting helpful advice. And don't worry about English skills since PC will help you learn so much and help you improve, so stick around as long as you can and enjoy yourself. Good luck and I'll see you very soon. |
Thank you for your welcome and advice!
I really look forward to bring back my quite-a-few-years-old Pokémon Omega project back to life. I still have the sprites left over from the original version (which is slightly glitchy but playable until a certain point where it crashes and refuses to boot back up). I guess going in head first without having any knowledge other than spriting wasn't the smartest thing either. I also tried to bring it back using Pokémon Essentials (more possibilities and less space restraints than when hacking on the GBA Pokémon games) but... Error messages keep happening when I try to edit Trainers. Given the fact that I have data for both the "ROM Hack version" (Sprites and leftover data from a very very old version) and the "Fan game version" (All the Pokémon data is already done), I guess I'll see which one goes best for me. |
Welcome to PokeCommunity! We're glad to have you on board, Carapuce31. I see you discovered Pokemon at an early age. I've played the Trading Card Game a bit myself, though it didn't stick very long for me, unfortunately.
You've joined the right place for ROM Hacking. We have an extensive section just for that! That section can be located here! I'm sure you'll get better at English with due time, especially hanging around PC. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask! I hope you stick around, and enjoy yourself. See you around :D |
Hiiiii! Ooh France! Such a lovely place! Anywho, hi, nice to meet you! I remember playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team a lot; and I loved the concept, though it was a bit tough to get past through at some parts, sometimes due to hunger, or from shortage of PP moves, but all was pretty fun! Welcome to the forums today, and it's a pleasure to have you here! <33
Making a game sure sounds tough. But yeah, it definitely takes dedication; we have all sorts of tools and resources over on the hacking section, so you're always welcome to check that out as it can assist you! See you soon and have a pleasant day today, mmkay?~ |
Data corruption?? Omg, I'm sorry. x'D I can only imagine how you must have felt for that to happen after a year's worth of work.. don't think making a hack is something I'd ever be able to handle. It's really exhausting though of course pays off in the end once you have a rhythm going. Just not something I'd have the time and energy for.
Welcome, Carapuce! Good having you here. I'm sure you'll find that perfect method which works for you and fingers crossed you'll enjoy yourself here during your stay! Many lovely people to talk to. :) |
