I love the style of Gen II, and I want to maintain the artistic appeal of the games. However, there are some features of the later games that I absolutely want to maintain. Here's a list of what I want to add, in order of importance.

-Abilities such as Intimidate or Levitate
-Trading/Battling with other players via the Android Virtual Gameboy App, or some manner with Raspberry Pi.
-Breeding
(note on this one, if there's a way to just automatically make all bred pokemon have perfect IVs that is preferred by me)
-Double Battles
-Mega Evolutions

One other stupid question, would the game engine break if I were to add in a fourth pokemon to lines like Charmander?

-Abilites will take a while to add, the entire SYSTEM exists NOT in gen 2.
-Uhmm... well, as long as your emulator/modded Game Boy supports internet connections, sure. Go for VisualBoyAdvance...?
-That's... implemented? Day care, ye olde numpty!
-That'll take a LOOOONGGG while of assembly to implement. If the ROM has enough space.
-Yeah... sounds plausible.

Also, where are the running shoes? Heh... :)

I think that if you want to hack Gen 2, you should consider the pokecrystal disassembly instead of gold. It should make your life a lot easier when modifying things that aren't "surface level." Also, skeetendo would be a good place to check out.
