Trick: You cannot fight Gym Leaders or Elite Four with a type advantage Pokemon. Type advantage moves are fine on other teammates.

Spoiler:

So I can only use... when fighting... (assuming I have fully evolved all of my pokemon by then but I probably will not):
Brock (Rock): Houndoom, Gardevoir, Electabuzz, Linoone
Misty (Water): Houndoom, Gardevoir, Omastar, Linoone
Lt. Surge (Electric): All pokemon
Erika (Grass): Gardevoir, Electabuzz, Ludicolo, Omastar, Linoone
Sabrina (Psychic): Gardevoir, Electabuzz, Ludicolo, Omastar, Linoone
Koga (Poison): Houndoom, Electabuzz, Ludicolo, Omastar, Linoone
Blaine (Fire): Houndoom, Gardevoir, Electabuzz, Linoone
Giovanni (ground): Houndoom, Gardevoir, Electabuzz, Linoone
Lorelei (Ice): Gardevoir, Electabuzz, Ludicolo, Linoone
Bruno (Fighting): Houndoom, Electabuzz, Ludicolo, Omastar, Linoone,
Agatha (Ghost): Gardevoir, Electabuzz, Ludicolo, Omastar, Linoone
Lance (Dragon): All Pokemon

I am using the classification from pokemondb.net and serebii. Tell me if I made a mistake writing this so I follow the challenge correctly.

haven't heard of some of these movies before sorry
1. Typlosion's Chainsaw Massacre

4. Espeon's Cyber Death Game
5. Five Nights at Victreebel's

MachoPony October 15th, 2015 12:05 AM

my trick is far too hard. i have to beat falkner with level 6 pokemon, bear in mind the first TRAINER in the gym has a level 9 spearow. never mind falkner himself and a level 9 pidgeotto

Trainer: Eve
Badges: Zephyr, Hive, Plain
Trick: "You can't use status healing items or berries (including Full Restores). Revives are allowed. During the Elite Four only Full Restores and PP-restoring items/berries are unbanned." - jdthebud
Treat: Gengar - JayD (... wait. We got. jdthebud... and... JayD?? .`C. wat)

Team:

Faraday: Five Nights at Faraday's
Feraligatr, M, lv.30, quick claw
Scratch, water gun, leer, bite
- I forgot totodile line evolves into feraligatr at level 30 o`_o

Jade: The Mystery of the Jade Idol
Haunter, M, lv.31, -
Lick, confuse ray, hypnosis, night shade
- *sighs about gastly line's absolutely abysmal gen.II level-up movepool* actually, it's pretty shoddy until gen.IV... Ghost type moves. GH OST TYPE MO VE S EVERY W H E R E. Actually not even 'everywhere', that would be an improvement, more like a thin scattering. I need TMs for this. Pity he can't learn the elemental punches until he's a gengar.

Einstein: Einstein's Cyber Death Game
Kadabra, F, lv.31, -
Ice punch, teleport, recover, psybeam
- because wormholes and speed of light and abra line teleport. She's cool.

Teammates remaining:
1. Scizor's Chainsaw Massacre > Bug-catching contest
2. Murder at Sneasel Manor > 7 badges
3. Guardian of the Aztec Temple: Xatu > surf

We missed the Bug-Catching contest by eleven minutes o`____o

The levels of your pokemon combined can not pass... when facing... (only if you have 4 or less pokemon)
If you have more than 4 pokemon, then do the original challenge, I will edit my post soon.

MachoPony, what is your current team? I might be able to give you some advice for the gym. I don't think this trick is too hard personally, since I have a similar one myself (cannot heal with items, can only heal in centers and at home), so perhaps I can help you work through it.

He was referring to my challenge. I did not realize that he would have one pokemon by the time he reached Falkner which is my fault. I edited the challenge though so I hope that fixes it.

Oh, whoops! Thanks for clarifying then! ...So I have been doing the wrong trick the whole time... 8D

Ok that makes things easier. thanks

time for Hoothoot to show falkner who the dominant bird is!

HM-users being carried with you must remain within ten levels of the weakest team member, but are exempt from the deposit rule (you still have to primarily raise the newcomer on their own, though (no powerlevelling via switch-in against strong opponents where it can be avoided)

I always leave my HM slave in the PC until I need it, do I still need to level it up when it's time for me to use it?

It's mostly if you intended to carry one for a longer period of time (for instance, in an open slot prior to completing your team) You'll have to make the call on it yourself, I guess. (I suppose in XY HM users aren't usually needed for extended periods) Don't train them because you'll only take them out specifically when you need them? Train any you intend to use more than a certain number of times? Dunno. We don't know your play style (we ourselves tend to keep a squad of non-HM pickup zigzagoon with us in our XY games, so)

Trainer: Eve
Badges: Zephyr, Hive, Plain, Fog, Glacier, Storm, Mineral, Rising, League1
Trick: "You can't use status healing items or berries (including Full Restores). Revives are allowed. During the Elite Four only Full Restores and PP-restoring items/berries are unbanned." - jdthebud (to be honest, this entire time we've used like. two regular potions. And that was just because we didn't want our pokemon to faint of poison in the times when we were unable to immediately teleport to the pokecenter)(in other news, teleport is awesome)
Treat: Gengar - JayD

Team:

Faraday: Five Nights at Faraday's
Feraligatr, M, lv.53, mystic water
Slash, surf, screech, bite
- wait, feraligatr can't learn waterfall in gen II?? Also, bite kind of sucks

Jade: The Mystery of the Jade Idol
Gengar, M, lv.52, charcoal
Lick, confuse ray, hypnosis, fire punch
- He's better now.

Einstein: Einstein's Cyber Death Game
Kadabra, F, lv.52, amulet coin
Ice punch, teleport, recover, psychic
- maybe we should replace ice punch with thunder punch and give the ice attack to the ice pokemon. On the other hand, only one of the two had a decent SpAttack and it is not the ice type (why must sneasel be one of the pokemon cursed in genI-III with two Special types and absolutely abysmal SpAttack...)

Lesage: Lesage's Chainsaw Massacre
Scizor, F, lv.52, quick claw
Metal claw, wing attack, focus energy, slash
- murder

Tezcatl: Guardian of the Aztec Temple: Tezcatl
Xatu, M, lv.52, -
Fly, confuse ray, future sight, psychic
- I need more hold items

Trounson: Murder at Trounson Manor
Sneasel, F, lv.52, king's rock
Slash, fury swipes, screech, faint attack
- this moveset sucks

Who wants to have fun guessing who/what we named our pokemon after, or why? It is very fun, considering gender was irrelevant and two of them were named for more than one person/thing.

Good Old Phone Guy: Ummm... Hello, hello... I found this... this old dusty challenge. We used to play lots of challenges in our old restaurant. Well... But after that... you know... that incident we had to stop and... kind of... take care of all we had. This one had to survive for long time. Can you "take care" of it on your Night Shift? I'll be gone for few days, so please, please do it. And... Good luck.

Username: Janp
Game: Pokemon Black

1. Klinklang's Chainsaw Massacre

3. Guardian of the Aztec Temple: Darmanitan
4. Hydreigon's Cyber Death Game

6. Eeveelution from DyingWillFlareon - Espeon

I picked Pokemon I never used before in regular gameplay, so I hope this will be fun.
Also, I hacked Eevee as my starter, so I can start right from the start (weird sentence).

Adventure begins:

Y'all, give me motivation for this challenge. lol I should not have picked Y for this. idk why, but replaying gen VI just isn't all that fun to me. :( But I wanted the large variety of Pokemon choices...silly me.

I'm currently in Parfum Palace, for what it's worth. Hoping to get some actual progress made on Monday before Zestiria hits the next day cause I can guarantee you guys that it's gonna be ever harder from then on, lol.

got flash and got outta there.
VS Falkner
Pidgey was a 2hko with peck
Pidgeotto took 3 pecks. critted me and i thought it was going to KO me but then i got a crit back on it and finished it off.

Wondered how the heck i was gonna do union cave and it's 2 hikers. then as if the pokegods themselves heard my cry, level 16 hoothoot learned hypnosis. after many MANY pecks, growls and hypnosis's onix was down. then the next guy's geodudes. finally one more hiker outside the cave azalea town side died too.
beat rockets out of the well.
VS bugsy
Newly evolved Noctowl cleaned house with pecks all around. gg bugsy
went on through ilex forest, used totodile as a cutslave. got to goldenrod skipping a lot of trainers. went past more trainers to the national park and caught TRIPLE H the nidoran (m). went back and levelled him off the skipped trainers to level 17. nidorino and double kick trampled all over the gym. level 19 at whitney. noctowl was level 23. grinded nidorino up to 21 just in case.
VS Whitney
Clefairy surprisingly lived a double kick but metronome only gave it rapid spin. so a second double kick ended it. miltank got leered. hit stomp. got double kicked. hit rollout. missed rollout and died to a 2nd double kick. (again i ask WHY IS SHE SO EASY IN CHALLENGE RUNS BUT SO HARD IN REGULAR PLAYTHROUGHS?)

Went to ecruteak city, went past it and caught The New Day (Magnemite) trained it against the kimono girls and got surf. trained more at the gym
VS Rival (burned tower)
2ez his megnemite fell to nidorino. zubat was fodder for magnemite and so was haunter. noctowl took out bayleef.
VS Morty
New Day swept gastly and the 2 haunters with thunder wave/thundershock but gengar was tougher with hypnosis and a crit dream eater after tanking a thundershock. leave it to JOHN CENA to dodge a hypnosis and hit his own hypnosis to get gengar sleeping then peck his eyes out.

Went on to olivine. trained carefully to make sure i didnt bump over the level cap. got my orders. went to cianwood. got the medicine. trained at the gym (Team LVs. 29 (nido), 30 (mag) 28 (noctowl)
VS Chuck primeape was a bit troubling for Nidorino eventually ending it with a crit fury swipes. then noctowl came in and missed hypnosis. three times in a row. and got fury swiped to death. Magneton was the unexcpected savior KOing it with thundershock. then paralysing poliwrath with thunder wave. taking a surf. hitting thundershock. dodging a dynamicpunch and critting thundershock for the win.

got fly immediately taught to noctowl. flew back to olivine.
VS Jasmine
2x double kicks finished magnemite 1 and 2. Steelix was a bit troublesome. got a couple of leers off on it. managed to take a chunk off with double kick before getting knocked to really low health with iron tail. switched in magneton to sonic boom spam. missed a few times and she used her hyper potion eventually finishing me wiht a crit iron tail. nidorino manged to take off a good chunk with double kick before dying. noctowl finished the job with hypnosis and a pair of flys.

Went on to mahogany town. beat the rockets. Executive was a clean magneton sweep
VS Pryce
Clean sweep for nidorino. strengthx2 killed the seel. double kick hit dewgong hard. he critted me with aurora beam. i healed up and he rested. allowing me to hit 2 more double kicks to finish it. leaving piloswine. leered it. took a blizzard. healed up. he went for fury attack which didnt do much. double kick took about half. he missed a blizzard. and a second double kick finished him.

went on to blackthorne, flew back to mahogany to train Sable. grinded her up to around level 37. swept the gym with her and magneton.

VS Clair
Dragonair number 1 took an ice punch, hit thunder wave, i healed, it slammed, faint attack ended it.
then kingdra. shut it down quickly with Noctowl's hypnosis before it started throwing smokescreens everywhere and a few flys and a take down later finished it.
dragonair 2 and 3 were a point for point copy/paste of dragonair 1. ice punch, thunder wave, heal, slam, faint attack.

went onwards to victory road grabbign a moon stone and evolving nidorino on the way. got Earthquake TM and taught it to nidoking also taught it surf
VS Silver
sneasel was dead to an earthquake from nidoking. kadabra died to a shadow ball from sneasel. golbat was mincemeat for magneton. so was haunter. his own magneton died to an earthquake and finally meganium was a quick 1,2 ice punch.

Grinded everybody to level 42 for the E4
VS will
i stupidly had noctowl out first instead of magneton or sneasel, well a few hypnosis and flys put xatu down anyway. next came exeggutor which went the same way. jynx died to shadow ball. slowbro took a couple of hits but shadow ball killed it too. finally sneasel picked up the triple with a double ice punch on Xatu to finish it.

VS Koga
Ariados died to a pair of earthquakes. Venomoth to a pair of flys. a chipping match with forretress saw magneton come out on top. Muk was OHKO from earthquake and crobat couldnt do much to magneton though double team did annoy me for awhile.

VS Bruno
2 earthquakes took down Hitmontop. hitmonchan died to a pair of flys. onix to a surf and hitmonlee to hypnosis, fly, fly. finally machamp and reflect really shone through here basically neutralizing all his damage. hypnosis and a few flys later put it down.

VS Karen
Umbreon got screeched a few times then shadow ball, ice punch finished it. Houndoom met an unfortunate earthquake end. vileplume got hypnosised and 2 flys killed it. gengar ate an earthquake and finally murkrow met the wrong end of an ice punch.

VS Lance
Thunder Wave, Thundershock, Surf, Thundershock GG Gyarados
Dragonite took an ice punch, i lived a hyper beam, second ice punch took it out.
charizard hit REALLY hard with flamethrower and surf took a big chunk off it. nidoking died so noctowl came in and hypnosis, fly finished charizard off. next dragonite had a chipping match with magneton which magneton won. third and final dragonite fought sneasel, now fully healed to the same result as the first one, lived ice punch, lived hyper beam, KO with a 2nd ice punch. finally magneton thunder wave, thundershock, thundershock bye bye aerodactyl

I am pretty surprised with the lack of update posts, but that won't stop me!

I got a huge story with this one, brace yourselves ;) So i pulled the common mistake of not checking before picking my pokemon and got stuck with just a Patrat/Watchog for the first 4 gyms (double dumb points for forgetting Audino is everywhere). I wouldn't complain much but my trick told me I could never have my Pokemon faint so when i forget to save... bleh. I had the most trouble with Emolga lady, I usually have at least one revive slave slated for her. Anyway Work Up Ftw! Made it through Clay pretty fast with a shiny new duck and here i am!

Well, I forgot my ds somewhere and had to wait a week to play again. It was a nice break though :) oh and Charmander is being substituted for Drilbur because of hacking restrictions, I made sure to contact my treat guy about that.

Statistics etc.
Spoiler:

Black 2 team thus far:

Watchog lvl 36
Audino lvl 25
Ducklett lvl 27

Number of resets because of fainting: 20+. (i'll give the exact when i find my master tally sheet)

Play Time: 17:51. I might have left it going alone for a while.

Badges: 5

Next update is the last one.

Cleared all of them and will now face Brock (Nicknamed Jimmy with the randomizer)

Update#2
Mt Moon

After 4 hours of terrible RNG I finally caught a Kabuto, named him GEODUDE... Boxed my Slowpoke named PIKACHU.
At least if i have more terrible luck i'm in on the challenge lol...
Kabuto started with Submission, Tail Whip, Rock Slide, and Rock Throw. Stats are lvl 11/hp 30/ATK 22/Def 26/Speed 18/Spec 14
Vulpix was part of that 4 hour grind for Kabuto that i switched floors to off and on.. luckily i was able to grab one before i got tired of waiting for one to encounter. Named it ODDISH
Vulpix started with Fire Punch, Poison Gas, Barrage, and Flamethrower. Stats are lvl 11/hp 29/ATK 15/Def 15/Speed 21/Spec 21
Onwards to Misty!

Update #3

Oh wow, that's mean, SubVirus o`co, making Janp's entire team have to have toxic (... because... poisonpowder vs toxic... on a whimsicott... isn't even a choice) Except that you can't even get toxic's TM- the only way any of Janp's selected pokemon can learn it- without surf, the HM of which isn't obtained until after the sixth badge?? (unless a pokemon with surf is brought into the game from outside) Uh...

Anyway

Trainer: Eve
Badges:
Zephyr, Hive, Plain, Fog, Glacier, Storm, Mineral, Rising

Treat: Gengar - JayD

*I have... legitimately NO IDEA why I have, technically, got two Marsh badges???
Like... I fought the first seven gyms, went and triggered Blue to get him back to his gym? And beat him... then... went to Oak? And he said... Fight all the gyms in Kanto instead of opening Mt.Silver???
So we went "? But... Blue doesn't go back to his gym unless you have the other seven badges?" And I have Save files of us standing next to each of the gym leaders? And then we rand around to each of the gyms and talked to the leaders? And? Sabrina fought us again?!

I am so confused. What kind of bizzare glitch is this even.

Tezcatl: Guardian of the Aztec Temple: Tezcatl

(unless a pokemon with surf is brought into the game from outside) Uh...

I'm totally fine with having all Pokemon with Toxic, but I didn't realize, that I couldn't get its TM before 5th Gym (For some reason I thought that Skyla is 5th Gym and I'll get Surf before battling her)

So if it'll be okay, I'll continue in normal playthrough and learn Toxic to everyone after I can get it.

TBH i didn't even look at his pokemon before making the trick, I just knew if push came to shove that toxic is widely compatible and still very useful.
I'll push it back to the 6th gym for the sake of fun.

Update:
Spoiler:
Beat Surge, forgot to take screenies though (oops) In the spooky tower already

I finally got to some progress. I haven't done much, but I wanted to share how my game trolls me. So, I hacked shiny Eevee, because I wanted to have one shiny on my team. Everything was ok until I reached Pinwheel Forest. I caught one Cottone on my team and then... then I run into this little girl:

My luck :D

Anyway, I beat Cilan and Lenora and I'm now in Pinwheel Forest training.

And finally fabulous Trainer Card:

We navigated Silver cave blind, per usual (and didn't even use the map we have sitting around somewhere)
Faraday slashed pikachu a bunch, and Red... used full restores on it. Like. four times. But it fainted eventually.
Venusaur was his counter to Faraday- we switched in Jade, hypnotised the big lug, then fire punched it.
For some unfathomable reason he chose to send in snorlax? No idea what posessed him to do that. His snorlax wouldn't be able to HIT Jade, but he would be able to hit IT, with hypnosis (which would put a damper on stat-raising), confuse ray AND fir punch. We countered with Lesage and had her use focus energy, then just hit it until it fainted. (maybe his algorithms said: Ghost/poison > Use psychic attack > don't use psychic type > snorlax has psychic moves [doesn't calculate that snorlax's psychic moves are rest and amnesia])
Another logical send in from Red: his charizard to counter our metal bug.
We counter this by sending in Tezcatl, then harass the charizard. It got in a decent attack or two, though.
Then his blastoise, which promptly fell to Einstein as she hit it twice with psychic.
Lastly, his espeon versus our Trounson. A metal claw and some slashes later and it fell too, leaving us the winner.

Awesome, considering how much higher his levels are than our team's levels!
