ooo
hi

I looove the holiday season. Except this year I'm expected to get gifts for my co-workers and UGH stinginess.

Emboar November 9th, 2015 6:31 PM

It's going to snow. A lot. :((

Sothis November 9th, 2015 6:46 PM

Hi DCC!
I love the holidays, we started decorating today!

Sylphiel November 9th, 2015 6:51 PM

Suddenly reminded that I was at the dollar store the other week (I think that was when I was trying to find crayons for myself, just because I wanted them), and I walked down one of the aisles and boom, in front of me was suddenly so much holiday-related stuff. Various kinds of Santas, and Rudolph plushies, decorations, and so many other "holiday" things. It wasn't even November by that point, for crying out loud!

...Though I would be lying if I said I wasn't tempted to pick up a plushie or two.

Hikamaru November 9th, 2015 6:54 PM

Isn't it sad my family never puts up decorations much anymore?

Sothis November 9th, 2015 7:00 PM

Most of our decorations are dollar store xD And they've surprisingly lasted a few years!

My mother goes all out.

Emboar November 9th, 2015 7:04 PM

We've never had a big Christmas tree, mainly because getting large items up to a third floor apartment is rather difficult.

also, sorry for the rather depressing posts lol

Wicked3DS November 9th, 2015 8:14 PM

It's about time!

I just moved into an apartment, so I'm not sure what we're doing as far as Christmas decorations yet.

Sylphiel November 9th, 2015 8:26 PM

I know my parents would pull down their tree plus decorations from the attic on Thanksgiving to put them up, and even that seems a little early...I can't imagine mid-October. :X

Klippy November 9th, 2015 8:41 PM

It's too early to go FULL Christmas (says the guy with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme). I love Thanksgiving and what it brings to the holiday season, so I wanna enjoy it before going full-Christmas (Nightmare is technically Halloween + Christmas, and there's a Thanksgiving Town door in the movie, so it's fine for November).

Pinkie-Dawn November 9th, 2015 8:42 PM

Oh how I miss the DCC. I haven't gone to super markets for weeks now, so I wasn't able see them selling Christmas decorations earlier than November.

Wicked3DS November 9th, 2015 8:53 PM

I would count that as okay, considering that Black Friday is the start of Christmas shopping season. Even like after November 20ish I could deal with (especially in retail since they need to be ready for Black Friday sales), but not much earlier than that.

Hikamaru November 9th, 2015 8:55 PM

The big debate with Christmas trees is whether you want to use a real tree or one of those fake department store ones. My family always used fakes because they're reusable and you don't have to keep throwing them out.

Sopheria November 9th, 2015 9:05 PM

Only now that it's back am I realizing how much I missed the DCC ^^

I think now is a good time to go out and buy a Christmas tree, before shopping gets too hectic for the holiday season. I've always preferred the fake ones for the sake of convenience, but I might just go for a real one for a change this year. Maybe.

Sylphiel November 9th, 2015 9:43 PM

I haven't had a tree of my own in years, my parents always had a fake one because, supposedly, the one year we did have a real one, everyone in the house except my mom had their allergies flare up (I was like three years old or so and don't remember it one bit). So we had a fake tree, but it was one that was just a tree, so there was always the nice hassle of setting it up and then setting up the lights on it ...

Although I'm not so sure it was better for our allergies compared to a real tree, once that thing got almost a year's worth of dust on it from sitting in storage it was awful. :P

...At least we didn't have to worry about throwing it away.

Sothis November 9th, 2015 10:01 PM

We don't have room for a tree because our apartment is crammed with stuff lol we just set the presents aside.
I'd prefer a fake though, less mess and hassle I think!

Wicked3DS November 10th, 2015 5:16 AM

We'll probably end up with a fake tree at our apartment. I think one of our friends has an extra tree that she said she'd lend to us which would be pretty awesome.

Pinkie-Dawn November 10th, 2015 8:56 AM

Snow is impossible here, especially when there's a drought going on for years.

alisaie November 10th, 2015 9:28 AM

we've actually used real trees for as long as i can remember so while fake ones are more convinient i prefer real ones haha. as for snow i live in florida so hahah no snow for me.

Sylphiel November 10th, 2015 9:31 AM

All you guys can take whatever snow I end up getting, then.

BECAUSE I DON'T WANT IT ANYMORE. >:(

noa November 10th, 2015 10:16 AM

I'm so excited for Christmas! When December starts I'm going to wear a Santa hat to work every day. It's too bad I have no ugly Christmas sweaters though. I guess it's time to hit up some thrift stores...

It is for like, a day or so. Then it starts freezing up, and people start walking on it, and cars start driving over it, and then it turns...not so beautiful :(

Pave Low November 10th, 2015 3:33 PM

Lucky to see snow in London, roughly every other winter we get some. Even when it snows there's only about a 25% chance that it will be a good amount. We had none last year, and the year before that we got a bit but it was mostly sleet which sucked. I just want to experience that feeling of walking through a field of fresh snow, where it's all flat and you're the first person to mess it up.

Maybe while it's falling/for a little bit after it falls.

After that, no. Gross.

Morkula November 10th, 2015 4:22 PM

I love snow as long as I don't have to drive in it. Back in February I got stuck 70 miles from home when we had a freak snowstorm and had to drive home on pretty much solid ice, across bridges and tunnels and stuff too. It took almost three hours and that's only because the roads cleared up about 20 miles from home.

And @ Christmas stuff, my family will actually be decorating the weekend before Thanksgiving this year. We used to wait until Thanksgiving weekend, but both my mom and I have jobs now that are insanely busy after Thanksgiving and we just don't have time to get everything up once Thanksgiving hits.

curiousnathan November 10th, 2015 4:27 PM

I think I might travel to America some day solely to experience a White Christmas :')

That's because once you realize how much of a pain it can be, the opinion of it changes drastically haha.

Lived down south most of my life. Wanted to see snow again so badly (since so many fond memories of it when I lived up north briefly as a kid). Moved back up north. I now wish at times I could be back down south during winter because yeeeah.

alisaie November 10th, 2015 5:09 PM

My Thanksgiving plans is go to work and suffer, come home, and then sleepuntil dinner time. Then sleep some more. :D My work is open from 5am-2pm on Thanksgiving and it's time and a half pay so since I don't really help with the cooking i figured why not. Worked well last year and I could use the extra money for gifts.

alisaie November 10th, 2015 5:34 PM

I signed up to work Thanksgiving. My manager was so happy to hear that I'll work both Thanksgiving and Christmas so she doesn't have to. Apparently Thanksgiving and Christmas is less fun to work for if you're a salary manager.

Wicked3DS November 10th, 2015 5:57 PM

I used to work Thanksgiving at my old job since it was double time pay and they closed at 5pm, which worked since dinner was usually at 6.

Sopheria November 10th, 2015 6:00 PM

Thankfully my new job gives me both Thanksgiving off as well as the day after. So that gives me an extra day to be lazy and sleep all day because I stuffed myself with so much food the day before ^_^

Anyways, I plan on going to my grandparent's house in North Carolina, the state next to me, and spending Most of the week there. It'll be fun, since my cousins and my aunt are there as well.

Hikamaru November 10th, 2015 7:35 PM

I'm like Katalyst, living where Thanksgiving is non-existent. So expect nothing special for me boo

Sothis November 10th, 2015 8:08 PM

Thanksgiving's already passed here, so it's just another day for us, but we do black Friday here and it's nuts x.x

curiousnathan November 10th, 2015 8:08 PM

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here, but I do really want to be apart of Thanksgiving at least once -- yet another reason to travel to America for a holiday it seems!

Hikamaru November 10th, 2015 8:12 PM

I can understand you there Nathan. My mother always wanted to go to America but it's not due to a holiday, but rather that boyfriend she's obsessed with on Facebook.

HollyYoshi November 10th, 2015 8:12 PM

I may have to work Thanksgiving, Luckily, we close at 2pm that day, so I'll get out an hour earlier than normal~ I may even have to work less if the bus runs on a Sunday schedule (it runs weekend schedules on most holidays) and don't have to come in until 8

Pinkie-Dawn November 10th, 2015 9:16 PM

Funny how you guys are talking about Thanksgiving when I just got back from watching the Nostalgia Critic's editorial video about how Thanksgiving merchandise is getting pushed aside by Halloween and Christmas.

Astinus November 10th, 2015 9:25 PM

I doubt I have to work Thanksgiving. My department is absolutely unnecessary that day, and I'm already working that Sunday and the Wednesday before.

Thanksgiving is really only a big deal for me because of my job. Since I work at a grocery store, we prepare a few weeks early for all the special items people buy, like baking needs and the side dishes. Customers are already stocking up on cranberry sauce.

Limey-chan November 11th, 2015 12:23 AM

I'll be working Thanksgiving. In a country that does not celebrate Thanksgiving.

ASDA (British Wal-Mart, basically) released a statement saying they wouldn't be doing Black Friday this year.

Hikamaru November 11th, 2015 12:51 PM

I was only 9 when PC was created... and ended up joining the community around nearly 9 years later. Very coincidental.

Limey-chan November 11th, 2015 4:26 PM

I was 16 when I joined PC, seems a lifetime ago...

Six years on this site, (admittedly off-and-on), is some going, can only imagine how it feels for some of you who joined in 05! Can't say i've not enjoyed it, however.

Wicked3DS November 11th, 2015 4:59 PM

starseed galaxy auticorn November 11th, 2015 6:44 PM

I joined PC when I was around sixteen. I feel so old here on PC because I'm one of the ones that have been here a really, really long time. :c I've been on here off and on with different accounts for what... eleven years now? I think this is the longest I've actually stayed.

Ah Jake and Geoff... those two have to be the longest-serving staff outside of PPN. I would imagine how hard it would be to adjust to PC without them if they ever retire. And don't worry dude, even with 5 years on staff you're still a baby at heart... and on top of that I only joined a couple of months after you were first modded hehehehe

Limey-chan November 12th, 2015 12:54 AM

The longest (and only) time i've ever modded a forum was only maybe a year, before the place died on its feet and went under. Just wasn't active enough.

Enjoyed being on staff, although this was back in the days when I could dedicate 15 hours a day to forums.

Hikamaru November 12th, 2015 1:02 AM

I was a mod on some forums run by some of my PC friends, sadly they all died from inactivity so my career was short-lived.

Bigelow makes a pumpkin spice tea, but it's a seasonal flavor so the stores don't always carry it. And they might have to special order it on a display shipper with a few other holiday flavors...like salted caramel tea which is the new flavor of the year. Everything's salted caramel now.

I've never been in Starbucks, despite one being right across the street from where I work. I'm not really a big coffee drinker, and it just seems silly to pay that much for something I don't really drink. But I have had a few of their bottled refrigerated coffees. The vanilla one is delicious!

...I forgot to peel the apples beforehand, but it still came out really good.

Would make it again if I had more apples.

Apparently my stores don't, since I didn't see it there. :( Wonder if it's at their fancier store. Or Walmart. Then again, I was looking at teas at Walmart just the other week and saw nothing of that sort, so that's probably a bust as well.
