My god, but it did happen in Paris. Rest in peace.

Thank goodness it wasn't Jason, since I'm pretty sure Friday the 13th has already past in Paris, but Muslim terrorists are just as bad. 100 dead hostages is both insane and sickening. My condolences to those who reside in Paris having any of their friends or families lost.
|
Yeah, it's really horrible what happened :( then there was earthquakes in Japan and Mexico and bombings in Baghdad and Lebanon.
Crazy day. |

I had quite a good Friday 13th, bought myself a new jacket and upgraded to a new phone.
Awful, awful news about Paris. Thoughts are, of course, with family and loved ones of those involved. |

If those are here, I've never seen one in person. :T
Not fancied up like that, at least. |
Speaking of vehicle spotting, I once saw the Google Street View car here in Sydney. Now that's cool.
|
You guys are lucky then, Those look really cool.
I know in this city at least they decorate the buses xD |
Nothing in my town gets decorated that's maintained by the city :( at least parking lots and private businesses decorate though!
|
There's a few decorations around where I am, but not a whole lot yet. I imagine there will be quite a few more this coming week.
|
Yay, I'm happy this thread is back. I didn't like Treehouse without it much honestly.
As for decorations, NYC is notorious for decorations. Personally, they can kind of get shoved in your teeth kind of obvious, but its still nice honestly. |
I like seeing everyone's decorations as we drive by, some people go all out and it's really nice to look at. And some stores have huge light decorations too.
|
We're too busy preparing for Sinterklaas before we start putting up Christmas decorations. And even then, in my neighborhood, there usually isn't too much decorated.
|
I'd love to see a neighborhood like that sometime. We barely make our front door light up, it must be amazing to see entire blocks
|
In the neighbourhood where my mom lives, people get hella festive. So many decorations in front gardens!
|
this will be my first christmas in my new neighborhood so i'm not sure yet how festive everyone is, but the street looked pretty lit for the fourth of July and Halloween, so it will probably be pretty festive for christmas also!
|
My family used to drive around and look at other people's decorations it was a lot of fun haha. I think sis and I did that last year actually. For traditions sake.
But right now I'm just mad Barnes and Noble Is Already Playing Christmas music. Not for another week or so please. |
I wonder if my parents plan on bringing the good old DIY Christmas tree back out. That thing is always a beast to put up. Decorating that's probably as Christmas as it'll get here.
|
I haven't visited such relatives of mine much in the past long while anyway, so I can't really say I miss visiting them too much. As I recall, it tended to get really hectic around there anyway. :P Although it would be nice to go visit my own parents for a christmas one year. I did close to thanksgiving last year, don't think I could do christmas this year but maybe next year...hmm.
Also, on a random tangent, I actually did find that pumpkin spice tea earlier, eh heh. Walmart came through for me aw yeah. |
I was usually just my family and grandparents that got together, which I liked. It wasn't too much or too overwhelming. I really miss that about the holidays as a kid.
|
Holidays are awesome but over here we are having monsuun season so we cannot go out often until we have a sunshine day. Thus most of the holiday time I will go for part time work to buy my wanted stuffs.

That seems to be a common thing. :( There was a house down where I used to live that did this wonderful display for Christmas every year but the past few years they hadn't done it. Guess they had gotten too old or something. That or moved and new people live there. I'm not too sure.
|
We're in an apartment so there's only so much we can do. Some people get very creative with hanging things from their balconies and stuff though.

My family didn't put much Christmas decoration last year, so maybe it has to due with their age.
Also, I've been observing a middle school class for almost 30 hours as a requirement for my teacher's ed class, and tomorrow is my last day of observation. |
well goodluck for you :3. being a teacher is great though but you must have a great heart and dedication to teach them :D. thatd why i always respect them.

My mom is coming here for Christmas, so I think we're not decorating or buying a tree until the day she gets here. That way, she can decorate it with us :)
|
Oooo a DCC! And it's talking about christmas already aaaa haha
|
There's no such thing as "too early" for Christmas discussion, but there is a "too early" for Christmas decoration (sun)
|
everyone is so exciting about christmas. Santa give me something better than charcoal!!!!!!

Somethung is wrunggg . Christossss Suntu Clous please give me a whamborgurniiii...
Oh lol grammar jokes |
I know Walmart had a "Christmas in x days" sign when I went there the other day...
Ahhh. I don't even know what to get people don't remind me it's relatively soon. ._. I don't even know what I want! (Well, okay, I have an idea of what I want...but I keep getting asked what I need, and there's nothing really pressing that I need ah ha.) |
That's definitely one thing I want. :P All those Mario Maker levels to try and I can't touch them baw.
|
An ulterior motive, I see. ò_ó Hmm.

I love my Wii U but I never play it. ;----; I feel so guilty lmao. Got it because I was desperate for MK8 over a year ago but have yet to play more than, like, two hours of it.
|
I got rid of my Wii a few years ago because the only thing I used it for was Netflix and the occasional Wii sports binge :( Same thing goes for the WiiU, it would just get Netflix duty probably.

i love my Wii U.. been using it a ton for splat and mario stuff. being able to race with just my Wii pad is the best ever. |
It's hard to believe that it'll soon be MOTY voting time here again...
|
I'm aiming to win "most suddenly gone member".
For Christos, I want a Christos. |

I feel like I should be defaulted to the position of coolest member of PC |
I recall last year saw me winning Favourite Female Member for the second time. I'd be kinda shocked if I were to win it a third time. There was like one category that I got voted in yet sadly their dreams never became a reality.
|
Quote:
Why would you need an award when I wrote that in your usernotes ages ago? Wait I'm not sure I did actually... You should probably check your usernotes (in your own profile) and see if I did leave any weird message there or not. Haha. Quote:

As far as I remember I never won any MotY category. I was gonna win overall MotY once but that was at a time when mods couldn't win certain categories and I got modded four days before the deadline.
...I mean I guess it wasn't a bad tradeoff but hstaff at the time could've been More Considerate Like Damn Guys. I know that, at least for a year or two, I'm not gonna be winning any categories now though ( ;] ). |
^ Because there isn't any MOTY?... Right?... :P lmao.
|
well don't bother being subtle about it or anything pete
|
I'm reviving MOTY in the Roleplay Section, tho, and the only category will be favorite Bergmite loving mod :)
|
It isn't
|
Quote:
(you'd get my vote ofc) I should go claim Bergmite officially in Pokemon General! |
rip moty. :))
i might've won best pair sometime ago in that, but eh that's not a fun category to win. ;P |
I won favorite mod in 2012 and the overall MoTY category in 2013. Look at my shiny, shiny emblems! Hahaha.. forgot what other categories I won but it still baffles me how I won the overall category even if it was years ago.
rest in peace ~ |
I feel like now that Dave's gone, the event will never be the same. MOTM was a thing but then it was dumped in favour of focus on other events, and that didn't go well either.
|
I feel that MOTY is something we could tweak and make work, but that would imply some real effort and creativity and overcoming the "OMG POPULARITY CONTEST!!1" argument :(
|
Quote:
CoTM restricts only certain pool of people participating. Perhaps, MoTY can do something similar? EDIT: Restriction isn't the point; thinking for solutions and countermeasures are. |
Not just "in a way", that's all it is ^^
|
Since I've won a couple of categories from the Pokémon Anime section, I expect the same thing this year, since I'm pretty one of the few common users from that section. I also hope there's a category for the gifwar.
|
Quote:
(<3) Yeah, we can share Bergmite :3 I also don't really see a way for MOTY to not be a popularity contest. I can't say I really miss it either. |
The title got me thinking, how many of you have made a gingerbread house? What about Christmas baking? Do you make Christmas cookies?
|
Haven't made a gingerbread house before, but Christmas baking and cookies I do a lot of :)
|
I never really bake any Christmas treats these days. I did use to make my own White Christmas years ago, which has rice crisps and cherries in it.
|
My mother and I used to bake a while ago lol but she's not into it anymore either, which is a shame because they were good cookies.
|
I can bake some boxed brownies and cookies pretty well :P
|
I can bake some cookies, but I'm far too lazy to do so. I don't feel like cleaning up the kitchen to do so and I don't feel like doing the actual baking.
(Probably better that I am - I don't need a bunch of cookies suddenly within reach to munch on, eh heh.) |
I've had this weird addiction to baking recently. From everything from cookies to creme puffs and cheesecake.
The lack of uni must be really hitting me... |
Yes Jess, share us your special treats!
|
The only thing I can cook is instant foods. Even when I'm in a cooking class, I don't feel like I help out.
|
I wish I could cook more and better, but I'm doing alright. I can't make five star dishes, but I can do basic foods and meats. I enjoy cooking a lot and experimenting, but that's not cheap. :P
|
still learning to cook curry. * taste it , blehhh still failed.....
|
When it comes to regular cooking, I can only heat things up, but I can use the oven. I can't make things from scratch.
|
There's a reason I love my foreman grill. It makes cooking things so much easier.
I actually don't even use my oven all that much, come to think of it...it's usually I'm using the skillet, or using that grill. Also, this is a few days late but @ comments on last page: I'm too lazy to bake for myself, there's no way I'm baking for others right now. :V lol |
I don't know how to cook, and that worries me because it means I'm not normal (every human is suppose to learn how to cook).
|
I'm actually really un-knowledgeable when it comes to cooking. It's a pity, but it's just not something I've wanted to spend time or energy on ;;
|
That comic just makes me want to cook a plantain I don't have, not gonna lie.

Nice to see Audy and Jess wearing their matching Delibird avatars again... even if they don't have matching username colours these days.
|
\o/ Someone actually remembers them, hooray.
|

They're an iconic sign of you two. |
I still think christmas should be "delibird everything day" like that one April Fools with Slowpoke... :D

Oddly enough, I just went to the market to buy some eggs. My mom needed quite a few for Thanksgiving so she asked me to go out and buy some. I cannot wait until Thursday to eat some good food. |
I hope I feel 100% on Thursday, I've been a bit under the weather since I stayed up too late on Sunday after not eating anything until dinner. Yay for self-inflicted wounds!
|
Speaking of eggnog, I have a bunch of eggs left here (lol @ buying more without first checking to see if I already had any). I should make some homemade eggnog sometime, that's always turned out pretty good for me.
Also ugh I need a jacket or a blanket right now. |
