So the last of the pokemon discovered via the datamining of X and Y finally was officially revealed. Shame it doesn't get any physical water moves, but at least on the special side it has some very unique coverage combinations. Steam Eruption is basically Scald on steroids(110 Power, 95% Accuracy, 30% Burn chance), overall looking forward to trying it out.

I was wondering when they'd release this, glad to see it's finally out! I'm interested in seeing how it'll fare in battles, it seems like it'll do really well with Steam Eruption and Lava Plume, especially since it walls so many Water types. I could see it being used tankily in a manner similar to Heatran, using its resistances and immunity to switch in and fire off powerful attacks with good burn chances. With how much people seem to hate Scald at times, Steam Eruption's only downside seems like its limited PP.
As for its design, I'm not a fan but it isn't awful looking to me... the above description of donut turtle makes it seem kinda funny i like turtles, though I think it seems a bit too jagged?, particularly at its head and "hump". Also, "boiling steam from the arms on its back", does this mean that the "donut" is actually a pair of arms? Or are some of its legs actually arms? ._. If it's distributed online, I'm really hoping that it'll be available here in Australia at the same time as America and Europe ;~;. I'm looking forward to using it in the future, wonder what checks and counters people will bring for it! |

Volcanion is great, and has a better design than Diancie. I'll give my full opinion on it once it's actually released.

Steam Eruption is amazing! It's like a powered-up, less accurate version of Scald, like everyone said. But really, I'm looking at it more as a more accurate Hydro Pump--with a 30% chance to burn to top it off. With that on top of its Water Absorb ability, and a bunch of STAB Fire-type moves at its disposal, I'm thinking it's going to shake things up in the metagame.
|
When I first looked at Volcanion's design, I thought it kind of reminded me of geysers. Then I read that geysers were part of the inspiration of its design. Course I never expected a Pokemon with the type combination of Fire/Water.

So, anybody got any theories on why the reveal was so ORAS heavy? (with the Hoenn battle music playing in the background and it having been posted on the ORAS official website) Do you think perhaps it'll only be available in ORAS, X&Y, or both?

And yea, it seems a lot like an ORAS-only type of deal, with the way they did the reveal. But there's also that Volcanion event in X&Y that was leaked, which apparently is triggered when you have a Volcanion in your party when you speak to this NPC: http://cdn.idigitaltimes.com/sites/idigitaltimes.com/files/styles/large/public/2014/08/28/2014/04/28/18284.jpg Anyone got any thoughts? :) |

News about the Pokémon has finally been revealed. It's about time lol. I like the fact that it's fire/water but its design is a little awkward... I can't wait until the event for this comes to Tokyo. One thing I know for sure is that it's going to be super crazy since everyone has been waiting for this so wish me luck I come back in one piece. Just kidding. xD
|
I'm sure you won't have to wait as long compared to people from elsewhere since Japan always gets priority when it comes to event distributions. Granted, it is the birthplace of Pokemon so it's a logical excuse there.
|
Just speculation of course, but I think that we will see a Mega Volcanion down the line. I'm glad that we're finally going to be able to get him after like 3 years! Volcanion kinda reminds me of Volcarona for some reason.
|
I love Volcanion's design, despite it being one of those Pokemon that just feels like you can't imagine it occurring naturally in the Pokemon world. It's just cool.
However, I am extremely angered by the fact that I knew about this Pokemon existing before ORAS was even announced. It's been about a whole year of this Pokemon being spoiled for use because leakers have to go around and ruin everything rather than letting us all have a little FUN and receive the official news for ourselves. And it's not like you could just AVOID the leaks, it was everywhere! Thanks, leakers, for ruining yet another Pokemon. |
The event will definitely be available for download for both X/Y and OR/AS.

Anyone else think gamefreak is stupid to think that we haven't known about this thing for 2 years and that the "secret Pokemon" asspulls they do in the spirit of the old reveals is dumb.
I mean, it's like seeing your christmas present in february, then unwrapping it in december and acting like it's a big awesome surprise to please your parents. |

Though I will admit Game Freak should have just said "Well we WOULD say we had this new event Pokemon to reveal... but it looks like you guys already found it. Good job. Bet you didn't find this though!" and just threw everybody a curve ball. |

oh man over a year later after it was spoiled and we finally get this guy. I'm excite. Haven't even gotten Hoopa yet so there's a bit for me to look forward to as a collector!
People are excited over its battle potential and I'm just here.. wanting to add it to my gigantic collection that barely fits much else. :D |
