Spiffy Font Colors in my Posts.
If you use fonts, styles and stuff in your posts, what made you come to the decision to put the effort into always posting in fonts, typefaces or colors? If not, why do you post in the normal fonts, etc?
|
I'm just too lazy to do it, like I'm surprised I even type in caps and use punctuation sometimes.
|
I like purple, and I like tiny text. Simple as that really, I have no particularly deep reason for using what I use.
Although I do use purple because it's easier on the eyes. A couple of people asked me to change my original pink because it wasn't showing up on the skins they were using, which is fair enough. I occasionally like to use light skins too. It shows up better on the black skin I'm using right now, too. |

The default one is easy to read and clearly seen, so yeah.

I use the basic colour and font for clarity. If you colour text, it might be less legible on certain styles. |

Default as always. Easy to read not only for myself, but for other users too on the forum too. The sudden change between the default text to another colour or text size sometime can kinda hurts my eyes and makes it hard for me to read - I'd like to be able to read things without having to squint at the screen with my already sore eyes. Maybe it's my designer mindset - If I were to change colour of text or formatting there would have to be a good reason for me to do it rather than it looking pretty or whatever. and for those who have comic sans/neue as your default font I will eat you |
I keep meaning to switch over to blue text but it hasn't quite happened yet. I dont care about bolding or changing the sizes of the text.

That said, I don't really like using custom fonts or colors because it can make my posts hard to read on certain styles. As much as I love pink I wouldn't want to use it because against a white background, or a brighter background in general, it could be really hard to read. And, well I don't want my posts to be an eyesore or anything. |
custom fonts are fine. custom sizes are fine within reason & vary depending on font but generally between 9 and 16 px is okay and readable. screw custom colors without consistent background color because there is not one color that is readable on every style we have.

If you want to go with pink, maybe you could pull off a darker red as a sort of compromise, although its not really pink lol. Or maybe a purple? |

Ahem...I like you guys' purple and pink :)
I sometimes use font coloring, but only if there's some css to go along with it. That's only for big important posts, like the OP to forum events and the like, or my IC posts in WoPC or RPT. Doing css for each and every post could be fun though ;) |
...Only reason I use font color is because I feel naked without it. I've been doing it for years, and I like being unique... I'm not going to stop being original because some people don't like how I post.
Also, I feel very offended by some of these posts. |
Ease up guys, haha.

Personally, I don't mind post formatting. I'm more receptive to the idea of changing my post font than colour or size. I prefer to just use the default formatting though, it's easier, more convenient and works with every style to ensure no one has troubles reading my posts. I do admit though, if a post is hard to read because of its formatting (or just hard to read in general), I usually skim over it. |
Wow, Attack on Post Text, haha. Why is it whenever someone starts or ends a sentence with something like "no offensive" it always preludes or concludes something that is obviously going to be offensive? It's like a social free pass.
...but hey, tough ****, right? You can't please everyone. Basically. No offense. |
I don't color my posts or change the font because:
1. I'm lazy 2. It may look ****y on someone else's skin (I use the Y axis) 3. I'm lazy I find Meloetta's tiny text a tad hard to read, but the color is fine imo, same with Palas pink. |
I always use the default colour and font because it's easier to read on all skins (what if I'm using a blue font and someone's reading on a blue skin?), and because changing that stuff is just too much of a hassle.
Of course, I have been signing off every one of my posts for the past 10+ years, sooooooo... ~Psychic |

Though I can see people would find different font colors a bit overbearing, especially if it's hard to read on the theme they're using. Like most everyone else said: I'm too lazy to be bothered changing my font face/color all the time, and I wouldn't want to make it harder for anyone else to read it. I do enjoy seeing different text styles in posts here and there, though. As long as it's done within reason; sticking to one size/color, not a constant array of rainbow text, etc. Not too many people on here do it, but I think it breaks it up a little bit. |
Idk how to explain why I just use the default style. I guess it doesn't come across my mind to change it up. I'm not that good at CSS anyway and I think I am more concerned with the content and quality of my writing, than any frivolous superficial embellishments. I'm a minimalist too so if the default works (readable, etc), I won't bother to change it (unless the default is some obnoxious font like comic sans or something lol).
|
I stick with the default font and have always done so for years. It's just something I picked up from my years spent reading stories on the forum: you want to make sure the widest audience can read your posts, so don't change the color/font/size.
But Meoletta's, Pala's, and whoever else's different posting styles don't bother me. I have that toggle turned on that keeps everything default. I do have the pay the price of not knowing if something is in bold/italics/underlined, but that's a small price to pay so I can read everyone's posts and other's can have their own brand of fun. So keeping posting in weird colors and I'll be in my "no fun" corner! http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-thumbsup.gif |
I do tend to use italics and bold every so often to kind of highlight what I'm getting at, but I never really format my text a certain color or style just for the heck of it. I'll just chalk that one up to easier readability and laziness. Honestly... laziness kind of dictates much of what I read on PC anyway, as bad as that may sound. ]: If a post is difficult to read, well... I just don't. :x Unless it's important, of course.

Basically anyone who must bash on font styling and color...
Spoiler:
Personally I like the colors and fonts~ When it's done tastefully with the right kinds of colors, it shouldn't be an issue. If it is consistently a problem; just change your style. |
I despise post formatting. I'll skip over people's posts that are formatted and groan if said people reply to me.
|
I think typography's pretty neat, especially when you can customize it like you can on PC. Personally, I don't really bother to have a personal go-to font, cause I like the default ones PC's skins use. I don't really have an issue with other people using their own font neither, although on occasion I do see one that just hurts my eyes.
