6 Only fangame I heard of was Glazed, and I heard it was hard x3

We all know fangames since that makes up a lot of this forum.

Not all of us know a lot about fangames. I think I've only entered the ROM hacking forum once to look for a particular game. I poked around a bit more in Game Development, but have still only played one game from that section.

It just takes me so long to get through games that I don't have a lot of time to play anything other than official games. I know I'm not going to get through my replay series of Pokemon by the time Sun and Moon come out.

Sothis May 1st, 2016 5:41 PM

9 Yeah I've never been to ROM hacking so...

I check ROM hacking section every week. There are so much awesome hacks that are progressing there like Pokemon Uprising, Pokémon xyz and Pokémon life. All three games have so cool graphics.

On other note, I'm here........*-*

*gasp* DESI!

Pokemon Xyz? Does it have something to do with Yugioh? {XD}

If you want I can show you how to operate phone hade ;)

And catman nah I think it follow a alternate storyline.

The XYZ arc of the anime surely has caused me scratching my head, especially when it made us all think we were getting a third version for XY, but nope we're going straight to 7th Gen and leaving Kalos as an unsolved mystery.

We might still see it later. Zygarde's formes are revealed, it just doesn't make sense if they will implement them first in S&M. And then there's a Zygarde event in Europe and America now aaaaand it's just the same old 50% forme we've seen already, nothing special.

Desi, hi! o/

Funnily enough I barely ever check ROM hacking, even though I joined PC because of that section. I do still occasionally try out some hacks, currenly I'm playing Vega.

Hikamaru May 2nd, 2016 10:40 AM

The latest Zygarde event having nothing special makes it so undesirable.

FireSnow May 2nd, 2016 12:10 PM

17.

I used to be so interested in the Rom Hacks people made, its how I first discovered this place lol

Now though, I just don't have time to play through any of the games and there are so many awesome ones when I manage to look through the section.

The only game I've managed to play in the last 6 months is a Visual Novel game, Pokemon Academy Life. It's actually a lot of fun and really well-made.

ジュナイパー May 2nd, 2016 12:29 PM

How do you download ROM hacks anyway? Don't you need an emulator or something?

Astinus May 2nd, 2016 1:52 PM

19

You need an emulator (I recommend VisualBoyAdvance for GameBoy games, including GBA games!) and a patching software. ROM hacks "patch" the ROM of the actual game, so you'll also need to find a decent copy of the ROM the hack is based on.

Hold on are we talking about hacks? Cause I looooooooooooove hacks so freaking much! And fangames, fangames I tend to enjoy more than hacks tho.

Anyone playing anything? I really wanna replay reborn but im so busy lately its just not happening o-o

Sothis May 2nd, 2016 4:30 PM

21 See that's all too complicated for me haha

Well, I started on Pokemon SolarLight and LunarDark a couple of months ago, but I stopped due to the fact that there were too many forests at the beginning; and I think I'm traumatized now. So. Many. Long. Forests... ;-;

Heyo Lycan! Yup! Vega is also fun.

I think when I first joined I downloaded 4 hacks.....Pkmn glazed, light platinum(nds)(progressing), Flora sky, dark rising 1 and 2.
After that I quit the PC. I complete those hacks in three month. Then I return for more but I started posting in playground and that's where ketsu show me underground. From that time I just got closer to both section. That's my story pretty much {XD}

I'm currently playing light platinum (gba version). Waiting for update of pokemon life(too awesome).

What's so hard about playing or patching hacks? It's too easy.

Example:

For example you want to patch Pokémon Life....

1. Download a Pokemon Firered ROM.
2. Download .ips file of Pokémon Life here.
3. Open Lunar IPS patch app( For windows mainly desktop) or Unipatcher( For android)
4. In first space put Pokemon Fire red .
5. In second put Pokemon life alpha1.9 .ips file.
6. You got [Patched] Pokemon Fire red ROM at third area.
7. Click on patching icon ( like a floppy).
and when patch is completed.
7. Open VBA or My boy emulator (for android) and start playing.

That simple. You just have to see the base ROM of any hack like Pokémon glazed has base ROM Emerald that's all.

Ah light platinum was a pretty good game but tbh i havent seen any hacks that have wow'd me yet atleast not like fangames have like Reborn, Obsidian Uranium and Rejuvenation. Glazed was a good hack and so was victory fire although there was some bugs but personally I like custom graphics and such. If you havent played reborn tho i gotta say you havent played pokemon yet

I KNOW RIGHT, IT'S AWESOME! Seriously, that game is amazing! There are so many references the the games and the characters are all so lively. I'm currently interviewing the lead developer of the project and it's incredible to hear how much thought goes into it.

Keep an eye on Daily near the end of the week if you're interested. ;)

Wow, you sound like my friend. He's constantly telling me to play it. If you're starting as well, I guess I don't really have a choice now. (Will probably be in the Summer though, didn't the game have like 50 hours of gameplay?)

It's cool how we had two PokeTrivia regulars this year who went on to become staff. Maybe there might be another one to come?
