Opening Of Fright

Got any abnormal phobias? How easy is it for someone to scare you?

NinjaRaichu February 5th, 2016 8:43 PM

I used to have a massive phobia of trains, like even a fenced track next to me I would freak out because I thought I might derail. i'm a bit better now but I cant deal with people trying to push on them, ive seen he worst and Its horrible.

pkmin3033 February 5th, 2016 11:10 PM

I think you mean "uncommon" and not "abnormal". There is no such thing as an "abnormal phobia".

I have a couple of phobias that aren't particularly common, but I'll not be sharing them. People can cause me anxiety through these without even realising it, as I tend to keep them to myself and I've learned to live with it, insofar as anyone learns to live with fear.

Haha yeah, I kind of have a fear of comets/meteors. In particular, if they were to crash into Earth. I get nervous, fascinated but nervous, every time I hear about a comet passing by. So imagine what I felt when they found a new planet with a perpendicular orbit.

Oh yeah, I'm also seriously disgusted to the brink of phobia by the underside of boats c: It's probably related to my strange fear of heights and deep water. I really don't enjoy thinking about there being dead ships beneath me when I traverse big waters. You can imagine how Titanic is a horror movie for me (x

Prairie February 6th, 2016 4:58 AM

I have a fear of big insects (particularly those that fly) and I'm also afraid of dogs (and pets in general to some extent), both because of some traumatic experiences. :(

Oh, gosh. Same here. I get uneasy just reading about how the world's going to end (even if it's way past my lifetime), and don't even get me started thinking about death. :(

Irrational fears are the worst. High-five about the bugs though!

天 (Caine) February 6th, 2016 8:32 AM

One word: clowns.

I also have a phobia of...well, flying, contrary to my username. I find the idea of flight amazing, but I feel terrified getting on a plane (despite having not ever flown in a number of years) because any number of accidents can happen that can kill me, and being super high up in the air doesn't really help that.

You know what also doesn't help? Vehicles in general. Cars and planes cause damage, but motorcycles are the worst.

I have a fear of parasitical worms. Disgusting, I can't even type this without my skin crawling and my heart rate increasing. Apparently it's pretty common for people who work with animals as I come across them regularly.

My friend has a phobia of tomatoes. Just yesterday when we order paninis at a cafe she ran out as the salad had a tomato in it. She's said they feel like dead skin and tastes like eating mushed-harder cardboard, like anyone's tried

Nolafus February 6th, 2016 12:29 PM

My biggest fear has to be crowds. I get pretty bad social anxiety if I'm stuck in a crowd all by myself, and it's just generally not a fun experience.

blue February 6th, 2016 5:08 PM

I have a fear of vomiting; yes that's actually a thing. On the plus side it's stopped me from doing so for several years now.

Sothis February 6th, 2016 5:32 PM

I have panphobia, a fear of everything. My anxiety and fears are constant and it takes medications to calm me down.

Geez, it's like half the people here have some type of mental illness or disorder. How unfortunate.

Sothis February 6th, 2016 5:46 PM

Mental Illness is extremely common! At least 1/5 people have depression and there's many with more serious conditions (Like myself). I'm lucky enough to be able to have the resources to manage mine though ^^

Thalassophobia to the max, mild fear of heights, fear of clowns -- screw clowns.

Also, even though it isn't a phobia, I'm terrified of abandonment to the point that I shut people out so they can't abandon me later. I'm a very....unsettled...person.

Bieber is just the personified proof of the existence of bad music. Clowns are the workings of the Devil.

I used to be a afraid of shirt buttons when I was younger but now it's preety much impossible to scare me,

Megan February 7th, 2016 7:50 AM

Well, I guess I'm not much of a fan of being categorized into a numerical system. Especially when you can drop down in said system. Also anything job application related. <_<

It's more about people gathering in places where they can find likeminded others.

I know, but I was expecting the likemindedness to come in the form of a passion for pokemon. Now that I've spent some decent time here, I've come to learn that this place is more versatile than I thought. XD
