I think it is a Sneak Peek on Gen 7.Plus what's the point of adding it on Gen 6?
|
FINALLY, something new to be excited for in the 20th Anniversary year.
Whilst I would LOVE this to be Gen VII news, given the ridiculously small number of Pokemon in Gen VI compared to past generations, I have a feeling this might herald a second half of Gen VI. Gen VI feels very much like a stopgap generation at the moment and, whilst I would love them to just move on to better things, I don't think we're quite done with it just yet. I'm not sure if the rumours surrounding Pokemon Z are substantial or just based on previous experience, but if it DOES happen, I would almost expect it to have this second half of new Pokemon in it. It'd be very unusual if we only had one set of Kalos titles when historically we've always had two, be it a third version or sequels. Whatever this is, I'm assuming it pertains to this year, because its the 20th Anniversary. I suppose it's possible it could relate to a new generation coming next year...if it does, that is a low, low blow. The 20th Anniversary should be a year of releases, not a year of announcements. Game Freak are not Square Enix. |
Looks like Mega Gardevoir as a Playboy bunny.
|
You know, I bet this all but confirms 7th Gen is coming. In the anime, Ash only has one badge left to get and I probably won't expect a post-league saga for Kalos either. I recall when Munchlax was first announced a full two years before 4th Gen came out, but I could see 7th Gen arriving near the end of this year or early next year if generation patterns are to go by.
|
Mega Zygarde or how it is gonna be called looked like megazord from power rangers now we got an android human new poke lol i thing the new pokemon will be called We gotta power pokemon (dbz lol) or Pokemon Legacy (zoids legacy) hahahaha ^^
|
Looks like a cross between Leavanny and Lilligant to me.
I expect this one to be a Bug/Grass type. Other than that, I'm sure we'll be getting extra new Pokémon for the near-inevitable Z version, and this will probably be the first of many previews. |
Quote:
I'd love for it to be Gen 6 pt.2. I've been waiting for some news on a new game so I can experience Kalos, and launching gen 7 would have made me wait for a very long time while I could've just played X/Y. |
so i tried googling 'Magiana' for fun
and apparently Zygaena Magiana is a species of butterfly? ... possible Zygarde link? either way since the different Zygarde forms haven't been featured in a game yet i expect a Pokémon Z more than a completely new generation. and what with the 20th anniversary this year, putting it to a 'close' with a 'Z' game would be perfect no? haha |
To me it looks like a Braixen that decided to put on a puffy dress. Personally I'm going with either Bug/Psychic or Bug/Fairy for it's typing.
Over at Nintendolife they said it was an "entirely" new Pokemon. I'm assuming that was taken directly from the scans? If so it would seem like it may not be related to Zygarde (or any existing Pokemon) if they went to the trouble of emphasizing that point. Here's a thought....what if the whole Zygarde storyline ends up being a postgame quest (like the Rayquaza/Deoxys one) for the 7th gen games? I think I'd much prefer this to be a second set of Pokemon for the 6th gen though. |
I think this is gonna be Serena fusing with Delphox.
|
Now this is interesting, I certainly didn't expect the next news batch to contain a new Pokemon. I'm gonna guess and say it will still be part of Generation VI. Since we got 70 Pokemon for Gen VI, it could still be possible that there are a further 50 that have yet to be revealed which will be added to the next game(s) as part of Gen VI making it sort of a part 2 phase. I just think it's a bit too early for Gen VII yet, plus there are many loose endings in Kalos that need to be attended to.
|
Well we have an image.
Spoiler:
"Its classification is Man-Made Pokémon. No type has been revealed. Posses a metalic body, text confirms it was 'made by human hands'. It was made over 500 years ago. Volcanion is chasing Magiana, only it knows Magiana's secret." It seems to have a resemblance to Klink and Diancie, I wonder if it will be connected somehow? |

Looks like a robot version of Diancie for sure...
..but I love it. Honestly it's kind of terrifying the longer you look (those huge eyes) but still adorable and I'm all for adorable. Wonder what its relation is to Volcanion here and whether this is a Pokémon from the seventh generation or just an addition to Z? Feeling it's the latter. |
Quote:
|
Initially I thought it would be Steel/Fairy, but then that's just too similar to Diancie in terms of typing and design. I'm thinking Steel/Psychic.
|
First thought when seeing this Pokemon: Orianna from League of Legends.
Spoiler:
Second thought: what is it's name? ... Magiana? ... Interesting. that is definitely not coincidence right? I have a feeling it's gonna be a form-changer judging by that odd dial on it's chest. There's two different colors, yet the dial is sitting at a "neutral" mode which is what we're currently seeing Magiana in. Maybe when the dial is set to either color, it changes forms. Double interesting that the colors coincide with Volcanion's typing/color scheme. This whole heat and water theme with gears gives me a steampunk vibe. |
It looks a lot like Diancie!
|
That looks like a Steel/Fairy to me. It's kind of cute? A little strange. Reminds me a bit of Diance, so probably a connection. Also a connection to Volcanion, so it's probably gonna be in the new movie. This could be a preview of gen VII , though I with the Zygarde's forms not in any game yet, there is probably isn't going to be a new generation for a while. I still want a Pokemon Z myself. However , it's has also almost been three years since gen VI started, so it's about that time a new generation to begin. I hope for an expansion to X and Y. Kalos seemed short and the lack of new Pokemon was so upsetting. I want to find more Pokemon in Kalos and explore new areas. I want new Megas and expanded features and expanded customization.
|
OH MY GOD THAT THING IS ADORABLE I LOVE IT.
I love the whole clockwork motif it's got going, like a cross between Diancie and Klink or something. I wonder if it has any relation? I guess it could be a refined Diancie of sorts, since Diancie is made of minerals. Either way, I'd hope this is a Gen VII Pokemon, rather than a Gen VI one. |
I think the people saying it is Gen 6 are the people salty that XY may not get follow up games but instead skip right to a new gen. Doubt they would add a new Gen 6 Pokemon this late in the game. However I do expect parts of Gen 6 to carry on over to Gen 7 and I think this pokemon being related to Diancie (maybe) is a good way. Like Regigigas to the Regis. I had a feeling from the start Z was anime only since if Z did come out in mid to late 2016 the anime would have nothing new to use. Really I am fine with this and would rather just move on than have Z anyway. As for the small number of Kalos mons we have to remember Megas played a huge part this gen and are just as complicated as making new pokemon. Did Gen 6 have a low amount of "new" pokemon ? Yes but tbh I see nothing wrong with that.
|
I actually like the design of it. Kinda resembles Diancie when you look at it. As for Magiana's type I have a feeling that design definitely screams Steel/Fairy, so yay Mawile and Klefki have more company. Now I shall await the bombardment of fanart...
|
Magiana looks awesome. I want one! {D:}
It kind of looks like a legendary.....although maybe it's the Lucario/Zoroark of gen 7? |
Spoiler:
|
I'm thinking Steel/Psychic because of the "all seeing eye" on it's forehead.
Watch it be a new robot/technology type. |
Man, I was calling this for a while. The lull in news usually means a heavy project is in development. You see if across different publishers and developers all the time (at least for publishers that are doing well for themselves).
I didn't, however, expect said heavy project to be akin to a new generation. That's pretty surprising. I don't think it'll be like tacking on more names to Gen. VI, but there's a first time for everything. |
Hm. Wonder if it's going to be unexpectedly Defence-oriented? Anyway, I think a new Gardevoir is what everyone needs, but which wally is going to use this thing?

Please update OP to include image Quote:
Magiana is said to be chased by Volcanion so we could call the two a Duo. A poketuber theorized that Volcanion is man made as well. Now more vids on poketube about Volcanion. In a video a person was talking about how Volcanion is possibly the one who created the steam in Shinnoh. Kalos Route 13 there are a few buildings you cannot get to. So with this we can say Pokemon Temporal Diamond & Spatial Pearl. Magiana is probably a Gen 7 Pokemon a lieu Ho-oh, Togepi, Lucario, Munchlax, Victini, Zoroark. As for typing I don't have any theories. It has a gear on its head like a Klang. |
Omg it's adorable.
But yea, I don't think this confirms gen 7 is coming soon, nor does it confirm an additional gen 6 game or games. The article implies that it's related to Volcanion (3. ボルケニオンの関係は? "Is it related to Volcanion?"), so my best guess is it'll get released along with Volcanion, but even that's just speculation. The relation to Volcanion could be an anime/movie only kind of thing and might not correspond to anything in the games at all. But I certainly don't follow the reasoning that it's "too late in the game" for it to be a 6th gen Poke. I mean, this is only 2 months after Volcanion's announcement, which we already know for certain is a 6th gen Pokemon :P Oh and did I mention it's adorable. Because it's adorable, I want a Magiana plushie like, nao. |
Quote:
A plush would be lovely...as soon as one crops up, I'm importing it. Unless it's outrageously expensive, anyway. |
For those saying that Magiana is going to be a Gen 7 Pokémon and that Gen 7 is coming soon this year, that would only make the Zygarde forms pointless, since you know darn well that means Zygarde will not be the main focus of the Gen 7, only the newest set of legendaries. Plus, Game Freak has always revealed new gen Pokémon a few years before their gen's actual debut; remember Munchlax, Bonsly, Mime Jr., Weavile, and Lucario's appearance in Gen 3?
|
I thought Treeco was the OP.
Buddy Fight. Magiana is very cute Klefki and Mawile sorry you're not the first Steel/Fairy. I wonder what its BST will be 530~ 580, 600 or 680. |
I probably think it'll be an early-bird 7th Gen cameo, sorta like a few other new generation Pokemon that appeared in the anime before their game debut.
|
All we can do at this point is speculate, since there's no mention of where it fits in the games in terms of generation. But I'm looking forward to seeing what the relationship it has with Volcanion is in the movie. Right now I can't even imagine how the two would be related story-wise o.o
|
Movie plot details - "As Ash and his friends continue their journey, Volcanion drops down from the sky in front of them. Volcanion's object is to recover Magiana, who has been abducted by the "Azoth Kingdom", a city of super-machinery. However, Volcanion and Ash have become linked together by a strange (?????). Will the two of them manage to work together and save Magiana?"
I wonder if that Strange Souvenir has anything to do with this? Spoiler:

See: Marill, Ledyba, Donphan, etc. prior to the official unveiling of Gold/Silver. Lucario prior to Diamond/Pearl... to name a few. Back then, there was still around a year's gap between cameo/reveal and the launch of a new core series title. The shortest passage of time was probably Zorua, which was revealed about eight months prior to the launch of Black and White in Japan and even before HGSS was available outside Asia. Speculation, of course, but if you want to go by trends, you can say this leaves Game Freak at least a couple more months for any reveal for a potential sister game to XY (we're all waiting), and another 6-8 months (or more) before any potential Gen. VII reveal. Conversely, it could be much sooner as a bulk official announcement for Magiana and the 19th movie. Quote:
Edit: side note - I'm already seeing a lot of inappropriate jokes revolving around this new Pokemon. |
If Magiana is indeed a Gen VI Pokémon, then I'm actually impressed that Diancie, Hoopa and Volcanion were found, but not that little rabbit fairy thing.
Now, suppose that it's a Gen VII Pokémon, that would mean the next pair will be either this year at the earliest or 2018 at the latest. Munchlax was revealed in 2004, 2 years before DP's Japanese release, whereas Zorua was revealed around 7 months before BW's Japanese release. On the other hand, how badly do you have to mess up to forget to add one more Pokémon before completing the game. |
Quote:
At least Magiana has that "marketable cutie" thing going on. |
If it's man-made, it kinda looks like someone wanted to make some uber Diancie, and came up with that thing. It's kinda cute in a weird way, though.
|
You know, I won't be surprised if this is fake.
How about, instead of Gen 7, an extension to Gen VI... too soon for Gen VII. |

I love its design and its obviously going to be part steal but its its gotta have another typing not sure what that might be though. Anyways i think this really either confirms gen 7 is coming and that it could be a new game or this could be an addition in pokemon z which would have probably a larger pokedex? Atleast i hope? haha
|
I'm thinking it might be Steel/Fairy. Related to Klinklang? I think so.
It's kinda cute! |
New Pokémon Revealed for Upcoming Movie
|
This has to be fake. This thing looks ridiculous. It looks like my ass after Taco Bell.
|
I like the design. It's probably Steel/Fairy, but Steel/Psychic might also be a good option, imo.
I also find it quite funny how people list other reveals like Lucario, but at the same time forget that we had Ho-Oh in episode 1 of the anime and more importantly Togepi which was introduced during Kanto and was a rather consistent member of Ash's companions for quite some time. |
Quote:
Like you walk out your door and your entire front lawn became a gold mine. You kinda just go, "Uh, um. Uh. Well. I guess I can do... uh, this? And, uh. This?" Or in the franchise's point of view: A: "Uh, so we'll throw this Pokemon in here, okay?" B: "Why? What is it?" A: "I dunno. It's cool? Maybe?" B: "'Kay, see what happens? Right?" A: "Yeah." B: "Hmm. Okay." Two years later... A: "Remember that bird thing we had in Episode 1?" B: "What bird thing? ...Oh, uh, that bird thing. Yeah." A: "Let's make it an actual thing?" B: "'Kay." |
Seeing has Kalos did have a smaller pokemon dex than the rest of the series, there is a very good chance that this could be a Gen 6 sequel with new Pokemon members in the dex, especially with it's connection to Volcanion.
|
After thinking more about it, I'm pretty neutral about Magiana now.
|
Wow, I wasn't expecting this at all, revealing a real new Pokemon.
This Magiana looks cool. When I first spotted it, its lower half reminded of a Poke Ball and then come to find out it's man-made Pokemon which made sense. Also, the middle portion also resembles a Poke Ball. Because of being man-made, most likely it will be a Steel type. As for a second type, I would like it to have one but it would be fine it was just mono-type. I'm more of the side that this Pokemon doesn't signify that the next Pokemon games will based on Generation 7. Generation 6 still needs to be expanded in my view especially with the different forms of Zygarde revealed a couple months back. However, Magiana could be either a Generation 6 or 7 Pokemon. I rather have it be a Generation 7 Pokemon just give us something to look forward to. |
I don't understand why they're hiding Magiana's typing when it obviously looks like a Steel type? I'm already seeing some people speculating it being a "machine" type.
|
OH MY GOD MAGIANA IS BAE <3
I'm totally on the Steel/Fairy bandwagon and I really think it has connections with both Diancie and Volcanion. The Klink Family may probably be related but hnng MAGIANA <333 |
I don't like the eyelashes or the gear head. That said, I don't like a lot of mythic pokemon at first, they tend to grow on me, like Diancie did, so I'll probably like it eventually.
My guess is steel/fairy, they can't seem to get enough of fairy types lately. Also I just realized its lower body is a pokeball of some kind. Neat. |
I'm pretty positive that this isn't an introduction to Gen VII. We still haven't even had Z version (lbr, it's gonna happen) officially revealed yet, and it's related to Volcanion which is a Gen VI legendary. I feel like it's going to be a little bit like Keldeo which iirc was introduced after BW came out, and was part of BW2. They seem to be on trend the past couple Gens to introduce new legendaries (and/or formes) mid-Gen, so I think this is the case. It is curious though that there's no data for Magiana in XY/ORAS, which is how people found out about Hoopa and Volcanion in advance.
I like her a lot already though, I think that might be because Diancie has grown on me quite a bit recently and she reminds me of her. Plus, all of those Poké Ball motifs on her are adorable as hell. |
I feel like having a Robo, Machine or Tech typing would be pretty cool. In today's world so many technological advancements are being made I think it would make sense if scientists in the Pokemon world were building robots and artificial intelligences.
"Steel" doesn't conceptually cover that area very well in my opinion. (Particularly when you consider the Porygon family would probably have it's typing changed to Normal/Tech or Normal/Machine) |
I dislike the design from my initial impressions. The dress part just looks so bulky and I find it to be an overly cartoony cute robot. Just way too much for me. That gear head also doesn't mesh well with those long ears. It reminds me of an inferior version of XJ-9 from My Life as a Teenage Robot.
As for whether or not it's from Gen VII, I can't really say. It looks far too much like a Diancie rip-off to not have a relation to that, especially since it's being shown so soon after Diancie's official reveal. My guess is that it is a mechanical remake of Diancie from another region and that they may have a Mew/Mewtwo thing going on. |
Now that I come to think of it... It kind of reminds me of Klinklang, I mean with the gears and all.
Will this be a Klang alt-evo? |
Interested to see the stats of Magiana, I'd expect it to have a high Defense stat. If it is anything like Lucario or Zoroark then it will probably have a BST of 510-530.
|
There is the possibility of this being a Gen 6 pokemon. While we never received new Pokemon in any generation before. Whether Megas count as new Pokemon or form change can be debated. I lean towards form change but they are also an evolution meaning it would also be a new species of pokemon albeit temporarily.
We still don't know if we are getting XZ/YZ/Z or Pokemon NeXt Gen, Gen 7. All I know is I believe this pokemon to be in the next game that is released. Hopefully 2017. |
I wonder why it haven't be seen before...
Like Diancie, Volcanion and Hoopa had th code cracked. What about this one? ... I really think it's gonna be in another game. Maybe Z ? |

I'm also on the "Hey that looks exactly like a metallic Diancie" team, but in fact I like this one more! I can't unsee the the resemblance of Magiana's name and the word 'magic', going by that I'd say steel/psychic type. (I mean, the steel part is pretty obvious and Delphox shows that magic = psychic.)
Volcanion was sixth gen, right? Since Volcanion and Magiana appear to have a history together, it seems very probable to me this one will also be part of Gen VI in the future. And that's great news, because that means they're not done with the sixth generation yet and I really want to see Pokémon Z happen! |
I want to know where the Couriway Town leads to via train. I want to learn about the GS ball and if it has a connection to Magiana.
I believe Magiana was made to try and tame pokemon. Even though I know they wanted us to forget about the GS ball. |
My first thought was 'Diancie has been traded holding a Metal Coat'. This new Pokemon has to be related to Diancie in some way.
I'm guessing its typing will be Steel/Fairy and will be a Pokémon exclusive to Z cartridges. One more thing similar to Diancie it is very cute. |
Check the top of its head. Looks like a Psychic type to me.
|
Inb4 gf pulls a mega evolution on us and introduce triple typings oh god steel psychic fairy plz no too op

Admittedly you might question how exciting its design is, when compared to the Pokémon designs that it's being placed next to. They could possibly get away with introducing new Pokémon into a 'Z' if it was released this year, but as it's a spin-off and those are generally meant to adapt to being slightly obscure, we'll see if they want to make particularly extensive or hyped-up changes to that. It might make more impact to release these things in a new gen, if they have more planned. Quote:

I've stumbled upon a supposed leak on /vp/ regarding Magiana. It is apparently part of the second half of Kalos Pokémon for Z, and it's the last Pokémon on the dex. Here's the leak, but it's written in Japanese:
Spoiler:
I would provide the source, but I'm unsure if PC has a strict policy of linking sources from 4chan. |

Unfortunately these new Pokemon coming to the next main game means it'll likely be heavily incompatible with XY and ORAS in terms of trading and battling. |

There's also a list with the English names and type combinations for the new pokemon with magiana being the final entry. I'd be sceptical about it though, after all it was leaked by 4chan..

I need to see the english names then I can tell for real or not.

The list says Magearna is a Steel/Fairy, as I likely expected.
|
Some people are suspecting a new type for Magearana and reasoning behind that is Slyveon, but when Jirachi was revealed we didn't know that poke's type either.
I want to say that list is fake. I saw list in a similar fashion before. Thank you Dawn for showing it to me :) |
Quote:
Now as for Magearna, I can see her as a Steel/Fairy type with Lightningrod. I can see why people would say that she is connected to Diancie, buut... Zygarde 100% = Golurk Milotic = Dragonair Sylveon = Victini Zygarde 10% = Houndoom Etc Nevertheless, I am happy that my Meloetta has gone Steampunk |
