Anime girls in swimwear knocking eachother into pools without using their limbs!!!!!!!!

So, this is an actual thing. Keijo!!!!!!!! [8 exclamation marks]

Ridiculous/Hilarious ecchi twist aside it reads like your standard sports shounen. It honestly feels like the lovemanga of Shokugeki no Souma and Hajime no Ippo.

Hype?

derozio February 13th, 2016 5:47 AM

I actually came into the thread fully ready to report it, lol.

But damn. Shokugeki and Ippo? Those are some comparisons you've made there. Assuming you were actually serious when you did that, my interest definitely is piqued.

Though all a series needs is qt galz looking hawt/sexy for me to be interested in it and this looks like it doesn't fare too badly in that regard either haha.
I think I'll hold off from reading the manga, though. Reading a manga tends to dilute the overall anime experience for me. I'll wait till they announce which studio is doing this. If it is a studio I'm not fond of, I'll go read the manga. Else wait for the adaptation.

Talking of the adaptation, seems like this got greenlit recently? Doesn't seem to have a release date anywhere on its mal page. Or any other info besides the key visual and synopsis.

It's lit.

Minor spoiler.
Spoiler:
One girl uses her ass to deliver liver and chin blows as a means of slowing her opponents down. That's pretty much Ippo 101.

That pretty much confirms it. We have a new AOTS contender, ladies and gentlemen.

I dunno, I've seen Sekai de Ichiban.

If they get creative with it, sure, but otherwise...

Satoshi Ookami February 13th, 2016 10:18 AM

And here I thought it was a thread about Dead or Alive Xtreme 3...

Was my first though when I saw the announcement. I'm almost certain that it was the author's inspiration.

Then there better be Marie Rose-like loli. =D
Otherwise, 0 care.

Pinkie-Dawn February 13th, 2016 12:27 PM

Just when One-Punch Man saved anime, this anime shows up to drag the medium back to the "waifu-pandering" stereotype it's been getting over the years. This is why we need more mainstream Manime.

Also, the main protagonist is 17, which makes her technically a loli.

In case if you're serious, then I'll provide you these links to back up my claim. The point is, Keijo is another example of everything wrong with modern anime, at least according to the western audience.

Aisu February 13th, 2016 3:03 PM

I see the swimwear thing a lot, most commonly alongside the innocent guy mistaken for a pervert and the other guy that is the clumsiest mofo on Earth yet always lands on a pair of tits.

Netto Azure February 13th, 2016 3:22 PM

Lovely :)

"Keijo" is a type of gambling sport where girls stand on a small floating platform and compete against one another. The aim is to push the other contestant off of the platform into the water, but they are only allowed to use their butt or breasts to push the others off.

Sounds like the sort of dumb, trashy manga I'd read, but the type of anime I'd be too lazy to watch.

Lipstick Vogue February 14th, 2016 3:35 AM

To be fair this and One Punch Man do have similarities, they are both essentially parodies of other shounen series. It's also not as if One Punch Man steered clear of the whole fanservice thing. If OPM was the cure then this is not the disease.

Way too old... :/

Palamon February 16th, 2016 11:17 PM

This... actually sounds like fun, though? Maybe I'm the odd one out, though, and the only one who thinks that. I'd watch this.

Which really just means I tend to only give these shows the time of day in print since I tend to enjoy them more in print.

"Manime" tend to not do well in Japan unless they've got a handful of cute anime girls in the cast and aren't overly dark and violent.

JJ Styles February 17th, 2016 8:02 AM

20/10 must look.

As ridiculous as the premise of said material sounds like, its definitely some guilty pleasure that i would certainly take a peek at. Artwork from the page's thumbnail is pretty decent so far.
