Strategics pokemon
So i want to show these 2 teams (one old (before and after modifications) and one recent not done yet on ORAS)
Calculated (and guessed) of iv and ev done thanks to pokemon online The 1st, old one (arrows show the changes that i would like) : Gallade : Ev : 188/164/8/6/8/136 ---> 4/0/0/0/252/252 Iv : 31/31/31/16/31/31 Held Item : Galladite Nature : Quiet (+spe atk/-spe) ---> Careful (-spe atk/+spe def) Ability : Steadfast ---> Justified Moves : Close Combat/Zen Headbutt/Night Slash/Protect ---> Drain Punch/Zen Headbutt/Ive Punch/Confuse Ray Gardevoir : Ev : 220/0/0/160/6/124 ---> 4/0/252/0/0/252 Iv : 31/31/31/31/1/31 ---> 31/xx/31/31/31/31 Held Item : Choice Scarf ---> Choice Specs Nature : Lonely (+atk/-def) ---> Assuré (+def/-atk) Ability : Synchronize Moves : Moonblast/Psychic/Shadow Ball/Trick ---> Moonblast/Psychic/Energy Ball/Thunder Lucario : Ev : 160/148/0/0/42/160 ---> 156/160/96/0/96/0 Iv : 31/31/31/31/20/31 Held Item : Life Orb ---> Black Belt Nature : Adamant (+atk/-spe atk) Ability : Inner Focus ---> Steadfast Moves : Swords Danse/Extremespeed/Close Combat/Ice Punch ---> Swords Danse/Sky Uppercut/Extremespeed/Close Combat Metagross : Ev : 244/182/84/0/0/0 ---> 192/176/20/0/120/0 Iv : 31/15/31/31/31/31 ---> 31/31/31/xx/31/31 Held Item : Assault Vest ---> Full Insence Nature : Lax (+def/-spe def) ---> Gentle (+spe def/-def) Ability : Clear Body Moves : Bullet Punch/Zen Headbutt/Meteor Mash/Earthquake ---> Thunder Punch/Gyro Ball/Zen Headbutt/Earthquake Zoroark : Ev : 180/10/0/132/0/188 ---> 156/228/60/0/64/0 Iv : 31/24/31/31/31/31 ---> 31/31/31/31/31/xx Held Item : Band ---> Life Orb Nature : Rash (+spe atk/-spe def) Ability : Illusion Moves : Punishment/Night Daze/Focus Blast/Flamethrower ---> Flamethrower/Nasty Plot/Swords Danse/Bounce Note : I believe that my best perfect pokemon in iv Salamence : Ev : 252/0/184/6/0/68 ---> 4/0/252/0/252/0 Iv : 31/31/31/23/31/31 ---> 31/31/xx/31/31/31 Held Item : Leftovers Nature : Brave (+atk/-spe) ---> Adamant (+atk/-spe atk) Ability : Intimidate Moves : Toxic/Flamethrower/Dragon Tail/Roost ---> Toxik/Atterrissage/Séisme/Colère Note : I hesitate to keep Dragon Tail to can trolled my opponent with the combo "Toxic, Dragon Tail" to the infinite and poisoned an whole team (except Steel, Fairy and Poison type) I will cannot explain the functioning of this team at the moment, because she’s in constant change and your opinon will allow me finaly to finish it. On the other hand, in ev level i’ve done anything with the Super Training. The 2nd, the new one : Chandelure : Ev : 252/0/0/252/0/4 Iv : 31/31/31/31/31/xx Held Item : Wide Lens Nature : Modest (+spe atk/-atk) Ability : Infiltrator Moves : Double Team/Dark Pulse/Flash/Fire Blast Dragalge : Ev : 252/0/0/200/0/56 Iv : 31/xx/31/31/31/31 Held Item : Black Sludge Nature : Timid (+spe/-atk) Ability : Adaptability Moves : Venom Drench/Toxic Spikes/Sludge Wave/Dragon Tail Barbaracle : Ev : 0/252/136/0/100/20 Iv : 31/31/31/xx/31/31 Held Item : Scope Lens Nature : Jolly (+spe/-spe atk) Ability : Sniper Moves : Cross Chop/Night Slash/Slash/Bulk Up (i hésitate with Sword Danse) Rhyperior : Ev : 4/252/0/0/252/0 Iv : 31/31/31/xx/31/31 Held Item : Assault Vest Nature : Careful (+spe def/-spe atk) Ability : Solid Rock Moves : Hammer Arm/Payback/Aqua Tail/Rock Wrecker Alakzam : Ev : 252/0/252/4/0/0 Iv : 31/xx/31/31/31/31 Held Item : Light Clay Nature : Calm (+spe def/-atk) Ability : Magic Guard Moves : Raflect/Psychic/Light Screen/Signal Beam Aggron : Ev : 168/160/0/182/0/0 Iv : 31/31/31/31/xx/31 Held Item : Aggronite Nature : Lonely (+atk/-def) Ability : Sturdy Moves : Ancientpower/Earthquake/Iron Head/Payback Explanation : The "center" of the team, play essentially on Alakazam which is here to protect in maximun Rhyperior, which is there to do tons of damage, which are reduce by 50% after the passage of Alakazam and moves are more reduce by 50% thanks to assault vest and more by 50% of reduction of damage thanks to Solid Rock thus allowing to Rhyperior to resist easily in an hydro pump buff in +6 (because water moves are focused on special), but not moves like grass knot (because even with reflect, i guess in OHKO). Barbaracle is the "critical player" because he’s do for that, thanks to sniper, to launch moves in high critical hit rate like cross chop or slash (if possible in buff with bulk up/swords danse) to try to perforated trough the walls like Aggron. Justly, Aggron is there and that’s he which wear mega stone because his ability (filter) have the same effect that Rhyperior therefore more practice and ancientpower is present for stats’s increases, iron head for the stab and payback, saw his slwoness, will do many damage, as Rhperior which, he, can slow down himself with hammer arm if an opponent is slower than him at the base. Chandelure is almost untouchable if he succeeds to place combo double team/flash and thanks to his excellent special attack, he complete, someway, Rhyperior. The work of Dragalge is placing toxic spikes and poisoned each opponent’s pokemon possible (except steel and poison type, dragon tail cannot pass on the fairy type), it’s in someway, the setter of trap. And on top of that, he’s not bad in defense and special défense, therefore i’ve less risks of k.o. And finally, Alakazam. Thanks to light clay, light screen and reflect are extended of 3 rounds, leaving free neighborhood to Rhyperior (and eventually Chandelure) to inflict the maximum of damages. And his ability : magic guard protect him of capacity such as taunt or torment, which leave him ample time to place the defenses. Well, i wait your opignons :) |
As an FYI, Gentle and Lax are bad natures in competitive play, since they do nothing to a Pokemon's offenses or Speed.
Gallade and Gardevoir are only worth using as their Mega Evolutions. Since neither of their regular forms are worth using in standard play, and you can only Mega Evolve 1 Pokemon per battle, you must pick one out of the two. Gallade has to be Jolly with max Attack/max Speed to make the most out of its offensively-leaning stats: -Swords Dance -Zen Headbutt -Close Combat/Drain Punch -Knock Off/Ice Punch/Shadow Sneak Nature: Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: Galladite Gardevoir: -Psyshock -Hyper Voice -Focus Blast -Taunt/Will-o-Wisp/Calm Mind Nature: Timid/Modest EVs: 24 Def/232 SAtk/252 Spe Item: Gardevoirite Ability: Trace Weavile or Bisharp can fill in the empty slot, since either one can provide Pursuit support to get rid of bulky Psychic Pokemon: Weavile: -Knock Off -Icicle Crash -Ice Shard -Pursuit Nature: Jolly EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe Item: Life Orb Ability: Pressure Bisharp: -Sucker Punch -Iron Head -Knock Off -Pursuit Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe (Life Orb/Lum Berry/Dread Plate/Black Glasses) or 192 HP/220 Atk/96 Spe (Assault Vest) Item: Life Orb/Lum Berry/Dread Plate/Black Glasses/Assault Vest Ability: Defiant The way the 1st team is set up now, it's somewhat vulnerable to Talonflame, as it has priority Brave Birds thanks to Gale Wings. Checks/counters to it are ideal, like Wash Rotom, Tyranitar, and defensive Garchomp, which have the bulk to take its attacks. Replace Salamence with Garchomp, as the former's regular form has little reason to be used over things like Charizard X or Dragonite. Replace Lucario with Wash Rotom or Tyranitar to help with Talonflame: Wash Rotom: -Volt Switch -Hydro Pump -Will-o-Wisp -Pain Split/Rest Nature: Bold EVs: 248 HP/252 Def/8 Spe Item: Leftovers/Chesto Berry Garchomp: -Stealth Rock -Dragon Tail -Earthquake/Toxic -Fire Blast/Toxic Nature: Impish EVs: 240 HP/176 Def/92 Spe Item: Rocky Helmet Ability: Rough Skin Tyranitar: -Stone Edge -Crunch/Ice Punch -Pursuit -Superpower Nature: Jolly/Adamant EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe (Jolly) or 100 HP/252 Atk/156 Spe (Adamant) Item: Choice Scarf (Jolly)/Choice Band (Adamant) Ability: Sand Stream Regular Metagross is a bit of a niche Pokemon, since its Mega Evolution overshadows it in terms of raw power. Since you already have a Mega Evolution in Gardevoir or Gallade, Choice Specs Sylveon or Unaware Clefable are good partners for Gallade, while Magnezone is a good partner for Gardevoir to remove Steel Pokemon so the latter is less reliant on Focus Blast: Sylveon: -Hyper Voice -Psyshock -Shadow Ball/Hidden Power (Fire/Ground) -Baton Pass Nature: Modest EVs: 240 HP/252 SAtk/16 Spe Item: Choice Specs Ability: Pixilate Clefable: -Wish -Protect -Moonblast -Heal Bell/Aromatherapy Nature: Bold EVs: 248 HP/252 Def/8 SDef Item: Leftovers Ability: Unaware Magnezone: -Thunderbolt -Volt Switch -Flash Cannon -Hidden Power (Fire) Nature: Modest/Timid EVs: 172 HP/252 SAtk/84 Spe (Modest) or 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe (Timid) Item: Choice Specs (Modest)/Choice Scarf (Timid) Ability: Magnet Pull or -Magnet Rise -Thunderbolt -Flash Cannon -Hidden Power (Fire) Nature: Modest EVs: 128 HP/252 SAtk/128 Spe Item: Air Balloon Ability: Magnet Pull As fun as Zoroark is to use, sometimes it's not worth using because it struggles with Fairies without the aid of Sludge Bomb, an event move. It does a good job of scaring them out, however, with the right disguise. You can include Starmie (or Excadrill if you're using Tyranitar) as a Rapid Spinner instead to deal with Weavile's Stealth Rock weakness: Starmie: -Hydro Pump -Psyshock/Thunderbolt -Ice Beam/Hidden Power (Fire) -Rapid Spin Nature: Timid EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe Item: Life Orb Ability: Natural Cure/Analytic or -Scald -Psyshock/Reflect Type -Rapid Spin -Recover Nature: Timid EVs: 252 HP/4 SAtk/252 Spe Item: Leftovers Ability: Natural Cure Team 2: Dragalge is way too slow to abuse a Timid nature. Yes, Venom Drench can seriously weaken a poisoned opponent, but they're more likely to switch out, rendering the move useless. Dragalge also has a decent offensive move pool, meaning it's better off spending 3/4ths of its moveslots on offensive moves: -Sludge Wave -Draco Meteor -Focus Blast/Hidden Power (Fire) -Scald/Toxic Spikes Nature: Modest EVs: 228 HP/252 SAtk/28 Spe Item: Choice Specs/Black Sludge Ability: Adaptability or -Toxic Spikes -Sludge Wave -Dragon Pulse/Draco Meteor -Scald Nature: Calm EVs: 248 HP/232 SDef/28 Spe Item: Black Sludge Ability: Adaptability Mega Aggron could be used in standard play, but there's an opportunity cost in using it, since it takes up the Mega slot and faces competition from both Skarmory and Ferrothorn as a defensive Steel Pokemon. If you don't mind not using Skarmory and Ferrothorn, here's a better set for Mega Aggron, as Lonely wastes away its incredible Defense, while Ancient Power is a pathetic move coming off of Aggron's low Special Attack and the stat boosts only have a 10% chance of happening, which is very unlikely considering the move's 8 max PP: -Stealth Rock -Heavy Slam/Iron Head -Rock Slide/Earthquake/Fire Punch -Avalanche/Ice Punch/Thunder Wave Nature: Relaxed EVs: 252 HP/16 Def/240 SDef Item: Aggronite Ability: Sturdy If you're ever interested in using Skarmory or Ferrothorn, these are better sets: Ferrothorn: -Stealth Rock/Spikes -Leech Seed -Power Whip/Protect -Gyro Ball/Thunder Wave Nature: Relaxed EVs: 252 HP/88 Def/168 SDef Item: Leftovers/Shed Shell Ability: Iron Barbs Skarmory: -Stealth Rock/Spikes/Defog -Brave Bird/Counter -Whirlwind/Taunt -Roost Nature: Impish/Bold EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef Item: Leftovers/Rocky Helmet Ability: Sturdy or -Iron Head -Spikes -Whirlwind/Taunt -Roost Nature: Careful EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef Item: Leftovers Ability: Sturdy Both Rhyperior and Barbaracle share nasty weaknesses to Grass, Fighting and Ground, the latter two of which are very common attacking types. I'd recommend scrapping them entirely. Azelf makes for a nice dual screen lead, as it's oh-so-slightly bulkier than Alakazam when it comes to setting them up: -Reflect -Light Screen -Taunt/Stealth Rock -Explosion/Stealth Rock Nature: Jolly EVs: 176 HP/80 Def/252 Spe Item: Light Clay Other setup sweepers you can use with dual screens are Mega Altaria, Mega Heracross, (if you chose to replace Aggron), Breloom, Diggersby, and Feraligatr: Altaria: -Dragon Dance -Return -Earthquake -Roost/Fire Blast Nature: Jolly/Adamant EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe Item: Altarianite or -Dragon Dance -Return -Earthquake/Substitute/Heal Bell -Roost Nature: Impish EVs: 248 HP/136 Def/96 SDef/28 Spe Item: Altarianite Heracross: -Pin Missile/Substitute -Close Combat -Rock Blast -Swords Dance/Substitute Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: Heracronite Ability: Guts/Moxie Breloom: -Swords Dance -Seed Bomb -Superpower/Drain Punch -Facade Nature: Jolly EVs: 12 HP/244 Atk/252 Spe Item: Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal Diggersby: -Swords Dance -Return -Earthquake -Quick Attack Nature: Jolly EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe Item: Life Orb/Focus Sash Ability: Huge Power Feraligatr: -Dragon Dance -Waterfall -Crunch/Ice Punch -Superpower/Ice Punch Nature: Jolly EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe Item: Life Orb Ability: Sheer Force If you really want a Shell Smash user on the team, Cloyster is better, since it has better physical bulk to take a hit before Shell Smashing: -Shell Smash -Razor Shell/Hydro Pump -Icicle Spear -Rock Blast Nature: Jolly/Naive EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe Item: White Herb/Lum Berry/Focus Sash Ability: Skill Link Chandelure, I'm not so sure about, since it suffers from both a Stealth Rock weakness and a Pursuit weakness. Including Bisharp or the Rapid Spinners I pointed out above over that will either discourage the opponent from using Defog from getting rid of the Screens or provide hazard removal support, respectively. |
If you want to keep Chandelure Modest you should just make it an all out sp. attacker. Give it a Life Orb or Specs depending on your the last move slot.
-Shadow Ball -Heat Wave/Flamethrower -Energy Ball -Trick/Momento A Quiet Nature also works well in tandem with Trick Room, for speed control. I don't really see what you're trying to accomplish with the set you posted. Chandelure is frail so there's no real use for Flash/Double Team especially if you're only investing in HP which isn't its best stat, and Shadow Ball> Dark Pulse because STAB and they virtually hit the same things super effectively. |
