Seemingly random FireRed ROM corruption
In some of my spare time, I've been hacking a Fire Red ROM but suddenly the ROM was corrupted after my most recent save in A-Map 1.92. When I tried to run the ROM on the VBA, it would crash before reaching the title screen and when I opened it up in A-Map. I got my maps look a lot like this:

I was mainly using XSE and A-Map 1.92. It's not a big problem because I have a ton of backups(which i have confirmed that they work properly;only my most recent one is corrupted) but it's still annoying to do over old stuff. If anyone knows what possibly could have happened, let me now. I'd like to avoid this if possible. |
Ive had this happen a few times too, a simple import of the tile data from a clean ROM fixed it up for me.

Its just a typical overwrite bug from A-Map as far as I'm aware
|
Looks to me like you changed the tileset and AMap repointed it to the second half of the ROM but a) put 08 for the pointer instead of 09 or b) if it was at, say, 1823DE0 just loads 823DE0.
Either way it's because 1.9.2 doesn't support 32MB ROMs, I think. |

I only asking so many follow up questions because I just want to know if I avoid this from happened. If not, I'll adjust accordingly. After all, this seems like something that doesn't happen all the time. Thanks for your replies. |
I haven't had the issue when I dont let AMap look for offsets. Finding them yourself is the safest way to go about avoiding it.
