Oh god, that'd be absolutely hilarious. That'd be trolling to the nth degree if these turned out to be TCG expansions and nothing to do with actual games. xD

Looks like Masuda has been hinting at it all along

Well you beat me to posting this, but yeah, I'm pretty sure this is a game, I'm excited! The game should be interesting!

I also expect it to connect to Kalos and Hoenn somehow, because that would make sense with what they have left over in both games. I also think it will see be gen 6(.5) without it being a typical 3rd game.

Pinkie-Dawn February 25th, 2016 9:22 AM

As I said back in the third version speculation thread, whether this is real or fake, Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon would clearly debunk the Pokemon Rainbow rumor, because it the codename consisted of only one version, and this one comes in two versions. And thank goodness, because the same rumor also mentioned an NX port of Zelda U, which is defintely not happening. Of course, I'm leaning this leak as a fake, because if this is Gen 7, then this would render the Zygarde formes completely pointless. I'm still convinced that we're getting a Gen 6.5 as another of Game Freak's attempt of breaking the mold with third version like they did with formes in Platinum and direct sequels to BW (not to mention a legit reason as to why we had only 72 new Pokemon in XY). However, if this turned out to be true, then it would still fit the usual 3-4 life cycle of a Pokemon Gen, but it would also make Gen 6 the first gen without a third version.

Drewko February 25th, 2016 9:25 AM

I hate people in times like this one, when they try to tie two loose ends, not thinking logicaly.
It's only Trademark leak, so we have no official info about new gen. Considering how it can be very early trademark filling, tommorow they will not give info about Sun/Moon, just Z.

Palamon February 25th, 2016 9:35 AM

Hopefully this is legit. ...But remember Pokemon Brown and Amethyst being trademarked and nothing coming of that? Yeah.

Drewko February 25th, 2016 9:36 AM

I will calmly wait, but from what i see Ninlendo Of America is making too much trolling around this "leak"...
Mark my words - it can all be fake.

Pinkie-Dawn February 25th, 2016 9:44 AM

May I also remind you guys in regards to Sopheria's post is that both XY and ORAS were trademarked after they were officially announced (XY in January 2013, and ORAS in May 2014), so the fact that Sun and Moon were trademarked before an official announcement could indicate this as fake.

Bellsprout February 25th, 2016 9:51 AM

obvs we don't have much information and i usually assume anything like this is fake buttttttttttttt

it would be awesome if it is a new gen and the theme is feminine (moon) and masculine (sun) pokemon.

ZoroStar February 25th, 2016 9:59 AM

One thing at a time, guys.
We still have Gen 6 sequels to focus on before we can start generating hype about something that might not even be in the slightest bit real.

Gen 7's great and all, but it's way too soon imho.

Pokemon generations tend to last 3-4 years, and this year will be 3 years since XY came out.

Taemin February 25th, 2016 10:06 AM

I'm very surprised and also very excited that they're doing this over Z. Z was hyped so long ago now that it's actually kinda worn off, and Sun and Moon seem like more exciting concepts, IMO.

I'm not so sure we can go by GameFreak's previous release patterns as an indication of whether or not we'll get 7th gen this year, since at this point the usual pattern's already been broken due to there not having been a main series release in 2015--by the usual trend, we would have gotten "Z" in 2015, and we'd be right on schedule to get 7th gen this year. But since there wasn't a main series release last year, it's still not totally clear what the contigency from the broken pattern will be: will they skip "Z" and go straight to 7th gen, or was "Z" just "delayed"?

At this point I'd be more inclined to say that this will be a 6th gen game, of sorts. There's a lot of in-game loose ends in 6th gen that still have yet to be resolved: e.g. Zygarde's other two signature moves, Thousand Arrows and Thousand Waves, being in X&Y's code; AZ's Floette and its signature move Light of Ruin not yet having been released; no Volcanion distribution despite its data being present X&Y and OR/AS, etc.

Hikamaru February 25th, 2016 10:42 AM

Ah yes, they really broke the mold with that gap caused in 2015... but hopefully the Direct will help clarify things.

There was no mainline Pokemon game in 2003 during Gen 3 (R/S released in 2002) and no mainline Pokemon game in 2007 during Gen 4 (D/P released in 2006), so yes, the 3-4 year pattern still applies.

VisualJae February 25th, 2016 10:51 AM

Supposedly this was already leaked in a closed Korean group many months ago, but who knows what was going on back then.

Why are the games always red and blue? Gen I had Red and Blue, Gen III had Ruby and Sapphire. Then, Gen IV had Diamond (blue) and Pearl (pink/red), and Gen VI had X (blue) and Y (red). And now, Sun and Moon are also red (well, reddish orange) and blue.

Only Gen II and V didn't have their main paired versions colored red and blue. And, even then, Gen II had Crystal, which is blue, and the Gen V sequels had boxart featuring Black and Blue (for Black 2) or White and Red (for White 2).

Z25 February 25th, 2016 11:03 AM

For anyone who thinks Sun and Moon wan't happen.

When Nintendo trademarks pokemon titles there are two kinds.

Ones that are just names, like delta Emerald.

and Others that have actual logos with their names.

The ones that display logos like Sun and Moon, have come true.

Just food for thought there.

illumine February 25th, 2016 11:04 AM

After X and Y, Sun and Moon would come off as some pretty steampunk, sci-fi kind of stuff. Seriously, though, it would be amusing if this was just Gen. II remakes and the starters were Gastly, Pidgey and Hoothoot. Someone should do this.

For a Romeo and Juliet tie-in, all of the sixth gen Pokémon could be in Moon.

Universe February 25th, 2016 11:07 AM

the new Pokemon games look great.

(first thing i thought of when i saw the announcement)

Sirfetch’d February 25th, 2016 11:16 AM

There is always potential that this is still part of gen 6 as Sopheria said. I don't feel like we closed the door on Kalos and with such a small amount of Pokemon, there is always a chance this is Kalos part two or at least some way loose sequels to the XY games. Regardless, I think everything will be cleared up tomorrow for us. Personally, I'd be happy if this was the start of a new generation because new starters hype me, as I have already said, but I am going to be pleased with whatever these turn out to be. It's been a very long 3 years :(

Crin February 25th, 2016 11:18 AM

As excited as I would be for these leaks to be true, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dissapointed that Pokemon Z isn't happening. Kalos has so much potential as a region. I think a third game would compliment and improve on so many aspects of X and Y

Z25 February 25th, 2016 11:19 AM

Yup it's real:

Domains of websites were registered by Nintendo for the games!

pkmin3033 February 25th, 2016 11:22 AM

I don't think announcements of a Gen VI continuation and Gen VII titles are necessarily mutually exclusive things - we could get BOTH announced in the direct tomorrow, with one just coming earlier than the other...hell, Sun and Moon announcements might just be teasers for next year, with Pokemon Z or whatever this year. Just because we've not seen any trademarks doesn't mean it may not happen.

...sure, it's unlikely, but I wouldn't rule it out.

New starters hype me as well, but it would hype even more if they decided to change their types to Dark/Psychic/Fighting
