More Than One Region!?!

After talking with others on the battle server, some thought that it's possible that Sun and Moon could be leaning to a more than one Region game, possibly even a game with all the Regions in it!. It all stemmed from this quote:

"(all the years) and now in 2016, it all comes together in an all new Pokémon adventure"

Are they possibly referring to all of the regions being added into one Pokemon Game? Or are they possibly referring to all 2016 is leading up to a new Pokemon Adventure? Just a regular Pokemon game. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an extra region, I believe we have still yet to find out more about Southern Kalos. What are your thoughts?

Sirfetch’d February 26th, 2016 8:03 AM

As I have speculated elsewhere, I do think there is at least a slight possibility that these games could contain Kalos, or at least a portion of it. The region felt highly unfinished so maybe! Then again, they could be moving on from gen 6 as a whole and just giving us another game with one single region.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire February 26th, 2016 8:10 AM

I have a feeling that it'll at least come together plotwise. Perhaps they'll focus on wrapping up the loose ends of Gen V, XYOrAs, and maybe include some stuff from the Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh games, like Rowan, and Oak.

MandL27 February 26th, 2016 8:13 AM

I'm thinking that the new region will share a Kanto/Johto dynamic with Kalos, since southern France is still open for region basing.

I'd really like to see a massive region which really feels so full of life. I wanna see tons of hidden areas where you can find neat items and rare Pokémon too. I don't think we need an extra region to make the game last longer or feel bigger provided they make sure the new main region is expansive.

I'm pretty much with Ben on this. As much as I've always wanted to see a new region, I think the thing I was hoping for more than anything was a larger world to explore. I've always talked about how much I enjoyed having 2 regions in GSC, but I think what I enjoyed more than anything was just how much there was to explore and discover. So while 2 regions would be great, one large region would be just as good, if not better in my book! ^^

Insurrection25 February 26th, 2016 8:27 AM

Im thinking johto kanto dynamic as well... couriway town has a train that serves no purpose right or did I miss something?

Lycanthropy February 26th, 2016 8:27 AM

All of them is a lot, like way too much. That would either result in a completely broken level curve or approximately zero content in each area. I'd rather see one, maybe two, regions with a decent storyline and lots of stuff to do there than one giant blank map. Quality over quantity! :D

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire February 26th, 2016 8:29 AM

I can see Kalos returning. The tropical feel makes me think this is to the south of Kalos, but it could also be to the east (it'll be based on Germany rather than southern France if they go that route).

Iceshadow3317 February 26th, 2016 8:31 AM

I can see Kalos linking with this new region for sure. They could just be making what we know as South Kalos, another region.

I am still hoping for a connection to a third region. I don't think it is time to put all of the regions in 1 game yet. If they do that, it would probably take a few years to make it.

I really want Unova and Kalos to connect still though. We know Looker went somew where and then ended up in Hoenn with no memory. It would be nice if this game connected them.

Arjay February 26th, 2016 8:32 AM

One massive region would be incredible. For once I'd love to play a Pokemon game that takes a lot of time and patience, something that doesn't take less than a week to complete, post-game and all. Give me something that I can still be playing weeks later and not be bored of it yet. In AlphaSapphire I bought the game at about 10:30am and by 5pm I'd reached Mossdeep City. I want to be barely past the first gym in that amount of time, not 80% done. Loads to do post-game as well. After beating the Pokemon League in X and Y what is there to do? Catch Zygarde, Mewtwo and Articuno/Zados/Moltres and go to Kiloude City which is ****ing boring. And something more interesting than just a battle facility. It's not the be-all-and-end-all.

Insurrection25 February 26th, 2016 8:33 AM

Also I think it's a continuation for Kalos because xy added only 68 Pokemon by far the least of any game. So the rest of this Dex for Kalos

Fannie February 26th, 2016 8:38 AM

I thought he was referring to being able to transfer Pokemon from the gen 1 games to the PokeBank.

blue February 26th, 2016 8:39 AM

I totally believe that these games will have more than one Region. I'm convinced that they will be connected to X & Y, so perhaps the main storyline takes place in a brand new Region and then afterwards we travel over to Kalos. It has been done before with Gold and Silver, so it would be awesome to see something similarly done!

Another reason I believe this is because this is the 20th Ann game. I would love to see a throwback to what they did With Gen 2. This would be the perfect opportunity for a throwback like that.

Mawa February 26th, 2016 10:42 AM

I think it might be a two region, but I don't put all my hopes on this.

I think it might be like Black 2 / White 2, where it's the same map plus some new places. It might be like, half of a new map and half of Kalos.

MarinoKadame February 26th, 2016 11:06 AM

For what I've seen Pokemon Sun and moon looks very tropical themed. Kind of looks like Cuba.

MarioManH February 26th, 2016 11:10 AM

My theory is that this game is going to be a "Sequal" in a sense to XY. Kind of like how GSC were the "sequals" to RBY. We will most likely be able to revisit Kalos in the post-game (or maybe even in the story? Zygrade maybe?) and possibly other new areas in the post-game that aren't in the region itself. I feel as if GameFreak is going to step out of the norms with this game, as the past 4 releases have been a bit repetitive when it comes to the post-game.

Anything that was better than the 'postgame' that X&Y had will be very much welcome.

XY was flawless compared to BW in my opinion. BW killed Pokemon for me until XY got announced.

This is exactly what I was thinking. The Virtual Console versions of RBY allow you to transfer Pokemon to Pokemon Bank, and now basically every Pokemon game (except the original RBY and Gold and Silver) are connected in some way. So basically you can connect all of your games and bring all of them together. I think the "all comes together." is just a marketing thing. It would be nice to explore more than one region though. Maybe since it's the 20th, the new region will have some connection to Kanto. I don't know if I'd want all seven regions in one game though. That would take forever to finish and I just don't have the time.

Cherrim February 26th, 2016 11:44 AM

I saw a theory on Reddit saying how X/Y was kind of like a spiritual successor (...as well as a literal successor LOL) to R/B. It gave you a Gen I starter, it reproduced Viridian Forest's layout right in the beginning, and so on. Sooo if S/M follows suit, it would be imitating G/S which had the return to Kanto, so maybe we will return to Kalos. Plus, Gen II was the first to introduce day/night cycles so the titles could also count as a reference to that.

It's totally iffy now, for sure, but it would be really cool if this ends up being the case! I'm usually not on board with the fandom idea that the ideal Pokemon game involves a whole bunch of regions packed into one game, but I wouldn't mind visiting parts of Kalos again or even the whole region, because it did feel kinda small...

I think due to my bias with where BW took place and was based after primarily (my hometown of New York City) I gotta a lot more love for that than XY. The latter's main game did feel longer and more of a 'here we go again' simplicity feeling akin to the Kanto games that I appreciated, but thanks to how near piss-easy it was to actually train through it kinda dampered the overall experience for me.

With BW on the other hand, while I did like how it was more plot-focused in the maingame it really was way to linear for my liking. With that said, it balanced that (in my opinion) with the difficulty being reasonable for my tastes. It wasn't no Platinum-kind of difficulty though. Initially for me it was Diamond and Pearl that caused my slight disinterest in the series at first. Then Platinum came in and turned me around.

Mark Kamill February 26th, 2016 11:17 PM

I'll be damned if Kalos isn't the post league. Its more then likely they planned the SS Region to literally be the next region from the start, and I do believe that is what we got a glimpse of. So yeah, if they did plan on the next region from XY, while flaunting around new Zygarde formes and leaving it all up in the air, there is no way its up for question. If not, then what the hell Gamefreak?

pkmin3033 February 26th, 2016 11:24 PM

Yeah, given how miserably feature light and lacking Kalos was, I would be very surprised if we didn't get to explore it again postgame in some fashion, maybe with a Zygarde-centric postgame. They've never had just two games devoted to a single region and, whilst Game Freak have gone out of their way to try and surprise us in recent years, I can't imagine them just abandoning Kalos (much as I would like them to) without featuring it in at least one more title.

I would love to have interpreted the direct as meaning EVERY region will be explorable in Sun and Moon, but the odds of that happening are about the same as me winning the lottery, so yeah.

jombii February 26th, 2016 11:38 PM

A game with all regions would be pretty boring, IMO. I'd rather have a new region, a really large one, than explore other regions again.

However, I would not complain if it's Kalos all over again. That region needs an extension. It kind of... hangs if you ask me.
