Motherhen Challenge!

The goal of this challenge is to hatch and raise your entire team of 6 Pokemon by hand. You complete this challenge when 6 hatched Pokemon are at level 100 and you’ve completed a play through of a single game (meaning you’ve gotten all 8 badges, beaten the Elite 4 and the Champion).

RULES
1. All Pokemon on your team must start at Level 1 in the new game. Pokemon at higher levels at the start are not eligible for the play through. They can still be in egg form by the time you start the game, but remember that this will leave you with one less Pokemon to battle with.

2. All Pokemon must have been bred either in the current game or one of your previous games. Pokemon can be hatched in a previous game but it must be a game that only you have played in and must adhere to rule #1.

3. You cannot use event Pokemon in Battle. For example, in X & Y -- the case of Lapras, you must select Run during wild encounters. Lucario is the only exception for this, and only for the Mega Evolution battle. However, in terms of Starter Pokemon, you cannot run from battles with other trainers. Avoid them if you can. If you can't, only the first route is allowed to have your starter Pokemon battled. So, for example, if I choose Chespin as my starter my goal is to get to the first Poke Center as quick as possible. I may do one or two battles with other NPC trainers, but otherwise my goal is to avoid and run from wild encounters, going back ONLY when I have the Pokemon I listed here on the sign up sheet..

4. You may not trade for level one Pokemon. If you didn’t breed it, the Pokemon is not eligible for this play through.

5.
You aren’t allowed to move on to the next badge until 1 of your Pokemon are at the maximum level.

6. OPTIONAL: You must choose a type that all of the Pokemon will have. It’s okay if they are duo types, but they all must have one type in common. This is called Monotype Mode!

7. OPTIONAL: Turn off Ex. Share to add difficulty.
This is called The Long Hall Mode.

8. OPTIONAL: Name each Pokemon in your team to further their bond with you.

STAGES
STAGE 1: Hatching & Transferring
GOAL: hatch all Pokemon.

STAGE 2: Badge 1
GOAL: Get at least 1 Pokemon to level 30.

STAGE 3: Badge 2

Also just to check. Does this mean that in Alpha Sapphire I have to grind at least one pokemon to level 30 before taking on Roxanne?

Hi there! Thanks for joining the challenge! Yes, you do have to get up to level 30 before taking on Roxanne (or the equivalent to badge #3). But only one Pokemon must follow this rule. This is mainly to prevent you from getting Pokemon too powerful to listen to you. :-)

Before I choose my game to do this challenge in I just want to clear up a few things.
1. Does it matter what game it is so long as the game is from Gen IV and onward as long as it follows the rules you specified or does it have to be a Gen VI game?
2. When we transfer the eggs do they have to be hatched or unhatched?
3. And if the eggs have to be unhatched do we need to catch pokemon on the intended game to trade for the eggs and let them hatch?

Hi Hyperjono, thanks for considering the challenge!

1. It doesn't matter what game you're completing the challenge with. As long as you can feasibly follow the main rules, I see no reason to limit you!

2. You can transfer the eggs whenever you like, just remember that your egg will take up a slot on your team and thus leave you with one less Pokemon to battle with.

3. As long as the egg was birthed in a save file that only you have played in, you're good to go! In other words, you do not need to hatch or breed them in the intended game. As long as by the time they are switched to your intended file, they're at level 1, you've complied with the rules. (Sorry, it's a bit late here and I had a long day. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense or I need to clarify further).

Also, I belatedly noticed that you hadn't chosen a difficulty level. Will you playing Normal, Monotype or The Long Hall?

That's alright you cleared it up nicely. It was just how you worded the rules that had me confused. Though with your 5th rule regarding the badges. Do we have to complete each one before we can progress. So what i mean is before i can challenge the first gym do I have to hatch and transfer my team, second badge get one pokemon to level 30 before i can challenge 2nd gym and so on and so on

I went back and clarified, so thank you for pointing it out. ^-^

You do have to complete each badge before you move on to the next one. So your example was correct. You hatch and transfer your team, get one Pokemon to level 30 before you're able to challenge the corresponding Gym Leader, then continue to level your Pokemon until at least one member of your team is strong enough to match the badge's maximum level. (E.G, in order to gain the plant badge or even challenge the Gym Leader one of my Pokemon will have to be at level 60. So if by the end of Stage 4, my Pokemon is only at level 50 I need to go through and level one Pokemon up by 10 levels).

I forgot to mention this in my last post but the game i will be using is Soul Silver

girlslikegirls March 14th, 2016 2:12 AM

I updated the rules to make it easier to read / understand. Also updated the sign up sheet so we can know which game you're playing. :)

Feedback welcome!

I updated the sign up sheet so there's a place to put that information. You don't need to use it since you signed up before it fixed, but it should make the details a little bit clearer. ^.^

HyperJono March 14th, 2016 2:43 AM

You should update the rules to say Level 1 for Gen IV and onward ]and Level 5 for Gen III as there may be people who will want to do this challenge on Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Leaf Green or Fire Red. And expand on Rule 5 and how the stages connect with it to help other people understand it. And you should also allow people to trade to evolve Pokemon. And i think you should make Rule 8 mandatory as nickname a Pokemon tends to make it feel more personal and the player is more connected with it or at least that is what i think

Does Gen III not have any Pokemon that start at level 1 when you hatch it? Sorry I've never played Gen III games, but I assumed all Pokemon games had opportunities to start with Pokemon who were at level 1. The idea, though, is that you start Pokemon from whatever the equivalent of level one is. I'll look further into Gen III and the corresponding games, though, to see if there should be edits to reflect the games limitations.

The stages are designed to be edited to whatever badges are in the game you're playing. I can go back and edit the stages so that they're more personalizable. Basically, though, as long as you follow the description in the stage numbers you're still following the heat of the challenge.

I will not be allowing trade in this chsallenge, as I feel that defeats the purpose of hatching your Pokemon from scratch. However, if you have a Pokemon you want to use as a "parent" Pokemon, that Parent is allowed to be a traded Pokemon. IDK if that makes sense, but that's the best way I can think of to describe it. And the best compromise for the game.

I feel the same way about Nicknames. They really make you feel more connected to the Pokemon, but everyone has different styles of gameplay so I didn't want to limit challengers on the names. Not everyone views the nicknames the same way we do. ^-^

No Gen I, Gen II(where breeding was first introduced) and Gen III games the lowest level Pokemon you could have was level 2 and when you hatched an egg the Pokemon was level 5 it was in Gen IV that hatched Pokemon where level 1

I get ya.

Fair enough it's your Challenge and that did make sense

True and your right some people aren't really a fan of nicknames.

Alright, so technically, it's Wednesday but only by like an hour. I thought I'd give an update. ^-^

For the first part of the game, I choose Chespin as my starter. Then, sped through as much as I could to get to the Pokecenter so that I could trade out my Beginners team. The whole process took about 30 minutes of game play. I plan to do more later on, and will do this weeks final update later on today. I'm currently in the Poke-Center, waiting to exit out.

How about you guys? Got any progress or updates?

HyperJono March 16th, 2016 12:18 AM

I just got past the third badge on my Motherhen Challange on Soul Silver. I've pretty much been playing Soul Silver since I started this Challenge.
My team currently
Glacieric the Glalie. Lv 50
Haelstrom the Swinub Lv. 25
Snowblood the Sneasal Lv. 30
Frieja the Froslass lv 31
Snowstorm the Snover Lv 28
Frozenia the Lapras Lv 25
It took me forever to get Glacieric to Lv 50

Haha, yeah, it is a bit of a grinder's challenge but it'll be worth it in the end! It sounds like the hard work is already paying off based off some of the moves. :-) Good thought on trading the eggs before they hatched!

girlslikegirls March 16th, 2016 4:28 PM

Current Line Up

I had to go back to grind a bit and I'm still in the process of taking one of my team to level 30 before I can challenge the Gym Leader. It'll take a while, but I'm really enjoying building my team! I want to look up what would be the best choices in terms of stats and moves. I want to have each of these bbs fully trained, with their friendship level fully maxed so I still have a long way to go. :-)

girlslikegirls March 17th, 2016 2:22 AM

Quick secondary update before I go to bed. Yes, I know, it's like 4 in the morning and I should've gone to bed about 2 hours ago. I got distracted. lol

At any rate, I went through route 22 to level up through trainer battles. Other than that, I've mostly been grinding in the grass (which incidentally, is also helping me fill up my Pokedex).

Lilo & Sernin evolved!

Lilo is currently at lvl 17, knowing moves Mist, Fury Swipes, Absorb, and Nature Power. I find Nature power to be a really interesting move and am unsure why it's listed as a Normal type rather than a grass type move. Lilo also knows Rain Dish and is evolved into Lombre.

Sernin is at lvl 20 (yay! 2/3rds of the way to level 30!) and knows Leaf Tornado, Leech Seed, Vine Whip and Wrap. Wrap is one of the best moves to use in the beginning of an encounter, but only if you plan to keep the Pokemon in the battle for more than one or two turns. Sernin has evolved into Servine and I'm quickly falling in love with ALL of Seperior's evolutions. Snive is really beginning to be my favorite Pokemon as a whole. Ugh, how do I decide? I'd like to build a team with Sernin, Bulba & Leafeon one day but that's another play through... Sernin also knows Contrary, which makes stat changes have opposite effects. Which is convent.

The others haven't changed much. Fee is still Snover and I really enjoy using him as my last-chance type of Pokemon with his Snow warning. I dislike mist, although it's useful in group battles. Powder Snow is my favorite ice attack while I enjoy using Razor Leaf as the grass attack.

Pumpia is still Pumpkaboo at level 10 and kinda useless save for one or two moves. I use confuse ray the most, but I have the feeling she'll come in handy more later on in battle.

Mane is still Chespin, at level 11 and knows bite, growl, rollout and vine whip. I enjoy learning how to use Rollout the most, with Vine Whip being my close second go-to.

Foonias is still Fungus, but Effect Spore has come in handy a lot. At level 10, Foonias knows 3 moves (absorb, growth, and astonish).

I'm not really sure why these Pokemon are able to learn ghost moves, when only one is a ghost-type Pokemon. Chespin's ability to learn bite really confused me too. They were all bred with the same Ditto so I'm not really sure whats going on? Either way, it creates interesting interactions.

I'll be playing throughout the week, but big updates likely won't happen until next week on Tuesday & Wednesday (my days off). Happy challenge guys! I wish you the best of luck! I'll still be checking in, so feel free to post questions or updates as you go through the different stages. I'm still currently on stage 2!

Current Time: 5:54

The grinding is definitely the hardest part of the challenge. It's cool to see how it changes your interactions with Pokemon you don't use. I'm glad you're enjoying the challenge!

girlslikegirls March 20th, 2016 1:23 AM

a quick update. :-)

My friend caught & traded me a Cottene! I named him Mink! I'll be working with him as part of my final team from here on out. I've reached level 23 with Sernin, so I'm close to being able to Challenge the gym leaders! Not having the experience share has both been a godsend and a curse. It forces me to learn how to utilize moves I don't usually use when Sernin and Lilo became disruptive and disobedient. I'm still enjoying this play through. Once I get the experience share, it's going to be a LOT less grinding. For now, though, I'm still on stage 2. I haven't had much time to play other than to trade and breed on my copy of X. XD

XD

Since you're playing on Y once you get the EXP O-Power it will be easier for you to level grind levels or will you not use the the EXP. O-Power

Lrachelr5 March 22nd, 2016 3:24 PM

So whilst I was doing some late night grinding I actually found my first ever wild shiny pokemon, which was a Tailow, since I need a flyer later on I caught her for that purpose plus it has made me teach Lucius False Swipe in case I run into anymore shinys while training. Also I have decided that I want to write my updates in a way that makes it seem like my pokemon have their own unique personalities which will be in effect from this update.

Breeder Lucy's progress
Spoiler:
It has been a week or so since I hatched my team and we are still grinding up to take on the first gym. Lucius has been liking the extra battling attention seeing as he is the highest level. I really hope that the rest of the team don't mind not seeing as many battles. While training Lucius I keep an eye on the others, Basalisk and Iron Lady look ready to take on the gym, as if they know that they have the upper hand in it. Juliet is watching on quietly with Kistune I walk over to them "Don't worry you two, you'll have your time to shine in the next gym battle" I promise them as Kitsune rubs against my legs affectionately whilst I stroke Juliet's head. I head back to training Lucius when a shiny Tailow appears "Lucius don't attack it okay?" I call reaching for a pokeball to catch the bird. I smile when I do "I know I will be using you Hedwig" I whisper before sending her to the PC. Before I went back to training Lucius he pulled on my hand pointing to Juliet, I smile "you sure Luce?" I ask he gives me this sort of smile and it was almost as if he knew something good would happen if I focused some training on her. "Julie, c'mere sweetie" I say crouching down at her level. "I'm gonna train you for a bit okay?" I tell her. During training I could see how my pokemon treated each other, it warmed my heart seeing how they were so happy just being with each other.I realised why Lucius wanted me to train Juliet more. During the training with her she evolved into Kirlia.

I haven't decided if I want to use the Exp. O power yet, but regardless you don't get it until you've gotten the bug badge. I just got to phase 2 of the challenge (in 17 hours! YAY!) so I'll be experimenting with it in Stage 2. :-)

Thank you for such a creative way to update! I really love stories, and it's really cool to see how we interact mentally with our Pokemon. ^-^ It looks like you're well on your way, though! I like how you gave the team specific roles in the family. Your move set definitely looks interesting, and is varied enough to give you a bit of an edge. This challenge definitely requires a lot of grinding but it's really worth it in the end. Not only does it help you build intimacy with your Pokemon, it also helps you know their move set that much better!

You might be the first to beat this challenge! Snover is really cool Pokemon, I really love the way he works with my team. We've got some similar move sets, too! What strategies do you find you're using in battle? Are there favorites you find yourself working with the most?

Well when I'm battling gym leaders or my rival I start off with Snowstorm as her Snow Warning ability is great for my Pokemon who half of them has a Hail related abilities and then just switch out to the best suited or weakest pokemon depending on the levels. And I don't really have a favorite.

The way I look at them is like a family
Glacieric is the father he protects his children from the dangers of the world
Hailstrom is the eldest child. He has lots of power but only uses it when the family is in danger
Snowblood she is the second eldest child. She is quite mischievous and loves a good prank but will fight to protect the family when needed.
Frozenia is the youngest child and cant quite keep up with the rest of her siblings but can hold her own when need
Frieja is the mother. She supports her husband no matter what but is quick to punish her children when they do wrong
And Snowstorm is the happy go lucky child of the family. She loves to help out in anyway way she can and will step back when she knows she can't handle it alone

girlslikegirls March 23rd, 2016 2:30 AM

It's time for the weekly update!

I'm on my way to Stage 3!

I've switched up my game play style a bit since I gained Cottonee. Mink, as I call him, is the front liner for battle. He's easy to underestimate, so it's nice to start out with him. He sets the tone for the battle as a whole. At level 16, he knows Mega Drain, Fairy Wind, Stun Spore, and Leech Seed. His ability is prankster -- giving priority to his move. He partners well with Sernin. I see them very much as close brothers who team up whenever possible.

Lilo is my Lombre -- the water type on the team. She's my ace in the hole when we encounter fire types. She partners well with my Snover who I named Fee. She knows Mist, Water Sport, Absorb, and Nature Power (a personal favorite of mine). Her ability is rain dish which comes in handy against Pokemon who know Protect. Lilo is at level 23.

Foonias is my Foongus. Effective against bug types, I really enjoy using Foonias as a mid section fighter. Astonish is a super effective move against fairy type. She also knows Absorb, Growth and Bide. I plan to replace Growth and Bide, I'm just not sure with what yet. Effect Spore has become one of the most useful abilities. Foonias is at level 14.

Pumpia is my Pumpkaboo. I use her along side Foonias. She, like Mink helps set the tone for battle. She knows a lot of support moves; trick, astonish, worry seed, and trick or treat. She also has the ability Pick Up which works well for Trick. She's only at level 13 but her role in the team is pivotal to successful battling.

Fee is my level 16 Snover. While he's the last member of the team to be used in battle, he's just as important as Mink and Pumpia. His Snow Warning ability comes in handy often, and he has a varied move set. Powder Snow, Icy Wind, Grass Whistle, and Razor Leaf create a full move set that I'm not sure I want to mess with. Lilo and Fee are very close, and I see them as a pair.

Finally, we have Sernin. My Servine is often rebellious and doesn't like to do as he's told. Still, he comes through when it matters and he's very protective of Mink. At level 30, he knows Leaf Tornado, Leech Seed, Vine Whip, and Mega Drain. His contrary ability makes him a force to be reckoned with!

So that's my little family. I'm excited to start Stage 3! Now that I have experience share, it should be a tad easier. Currently, I'm at 17 hours of game play. :-)

Snover is definitely interesting to build around, especially for an ice type play through. It's cool to see the different ways we assign family members. It sounds like Snowblood and my Sernin would get along well XD.

That's partly why I chose Snover as on my X and Omega Ruby I've been playing around with weather based teams just for fun.

I see myself as like the grandfather of my team. What about you how do you view your team?

Haha. Thats cool! I really see myself as a protector of the team, someone who helps them grow but knows when enough is enough. This team really makes me wish we had a way to build a Gym and become Gym Leaders at the end of the game. It would be cool after-school content. I view a kind of epilogue where we built some place safe together, where my team members can battle if they want to but they can also relax outside of their Pokeballs. IDK, it's just a dream I have.

Lrachelr5 March 23rd, 2016 1:05 PM

I see myself as the overall mother of my team, being sure that I understand my team's individual limits and show that I understand how they can each reach their full potential. Also, being a gym leader after the game would be really cool!

HyperJono March 23rd, 2016 1:27 PM

The closest we've come to having our own gyms is the secret bases in ORAS.

Its interesting to see how the interactions and the way you view your team. I mean with me when I was 6 and started playing Red I viewed my Pokemon as my protectors and as I have gotten older my Pokemon have gone from my protectors to my friends to my companions for life well at least for teams I build with wild Pokemon. But with teams where I breed and hatch them and transfer them to the game I am want them on I see them more as my family then friends and companions. If that made sense

I totally get that, I mean, when I started playing Diamond when I was younger I mainly focused on levelling up my starter then switching weaker pokemon out for stronger ones, but with this challenge, I really do feel like I have to protect each pokemon and make sure that they reach their full potential. I can tell that when the challenge is over it is going to be very rewarding. In a way I find that it is already as I watch how each of my team members acts in battle.

I feel like it is extremely rewarding already. I think I may be a little disappointed when I've completed the challenge. And I know once I've finished the challenge I will transfer the team to my X/Y or ORAS game

Hehe, right? I really feel like it would be such a unique aspect to the game! Maybe it could be unlockable content in Sun & Moon? Who knows. Either way, it would be a fun way to keep players interacting with the game well after defeating it.

It probably has a lot to do with my age when I started playing again and really took on the Pokemon Fandom as whole. My Pokemon are truly my partners in crime, and I want to watch them grow but I don't want to exert them unnecessarily. Pokemon Amie does nothing but help that aspect of the game. I can see where they'd be a mixture of it all -- friends, family, companions. Sort of like a cop-drama family dynamic in a way. I'm really, REALLY interested in ORAS and will be picking up a copy of Alpha Sapphire next pay check. I fully plan on picking up Omega Ruby, too! I already have ideas for what type of team I will be building for Alpha Sapphire, and while I won't be transferring the members of my first "official" challenge play through, I will be breeding from some of the members in order to bring them into the new save file.

I'm glad you guys are finding this challenge so rewarding! It definitely makes the Poke Bank worth it, IMO and I really enjoy watching the relationships grow between members. It'll be exiting to see the results of every team. I have a surprise in store for everyone who completes the challenge, too so watch out for that once you guys finish ~

You guys are lucky in that regard as you have Pokemon Amie to interact and feed your team. Though I think having my team follow me in Soul Silver is pretty awesome too.

Breeder Lucy's Progress
Spoiler:

Well it was easy enough to get my first gym badge, I used both Basilisk and Iron Lady to get it. I defeated the Aqua Grunt easily from being at a much higher level than him. So my team were happy when we got the plans for Devon Corp. back, after a discussion with Mr. Stone I headed to Dewford Town thanks to the help and kindness of Mr. Briney. I look down at Juliet and Kitsune,
"ready for some intense training you two?" I asks with a smile giggling as I saw them both perk up at the idea. However I also see that Lucius wants to protest insisting that he was strong enough to take on everything himself.
"Lucius, you've done an amazing job so far and you are only going to get stronger throughout this journey. You need to let me focus on everyone else okay little guy?" I explain gently to him. He looks at me and in the end nods with a small smile "atta boy" I praise him. I look back at the team
"Well we had better get training hadn't we?" the group all give their own little cheer to the idea and I smile at them. With the improvements that Mr. Stone had made to my Pokenav Plus I know that I am able to just train between trainers that I have already fought against, which means that the group can gain more exp much quicker than grinding against the lower levelled wild pokemon. So that was how we intend to spend the next while, just running between Routes 102, 104 and 106 as well as Petalburg Woods.

Hey Oddy I was wondering when we have completed a stage and gotten our Pokemon to the required level do we have to collect the gym badges in order or can we collect them in a different order. Eg. I have completed stage 5 and collected my 4th gym Badge and now the way is open for me to collect the 5th, 6th and 7th Johto Gym badges but in the game I can skip Gym 5 and go Battle Gym 6.

Sorry if none of that made sense

Hiya! Sorry I've been busy with real life stuff so I haven't had the chance to check in. Due to the nature of the badges you will have to collect them in order. This just makes it fair for everyone, no matter what game they're in.

That's alright and thanks for answering

girlslikegirls March 30th, 2016 10:41 PM

So I thought I'd post a quick update before my work week begins and I'm super busy again!

I've been playing the Motherhen challenge as often as I can, usually 2 - 3 hours at a time when I really should be in bed.

3 out of the 6 Pokemon on my team are fully trained! I'm using Special Attack moves for the most part, so that has been where my focus is with the left overs being added to HP.

Sernin evolved into Serperior! SO MAJESTIC AND PRETTY I'M SO HAPPY. I really wanna get an Everstone ASAP though because I wanna keep Pumpkaboo as ... well... Pumpkaboo. I really love this form and the more I think about it the less I want Pumpia to evolve.

I'm on track though; Sernin is at level 36 and is 4 levels away from being able to get me to the next gym! I'm still trying to figure out how I wanna post these updates, so any suggestions you guys have would be appreciated. I don't have time for much, but I thought I might put up something on Google Docs or Pages and link to the updated cards that way. Maybe I can do something that's like a Pokemon Trading Card, but using my BB's specific stats? IDK. I'm going to play around with it when I have time.

Either way, how are your guys updates going? I know you both have multiple challenges you're working on now! Jon, it definitely looks like you have an interesting Team going for Soul Silver! How about you Lrachelr5? Also, side note, but I realize I didn't actually catch what you preferred to be called. Do you like your username or Ziggy better?

I headed to the Pokemon Center to heal my team after defeating Morty and earning the Fog Badge. After healing them I looked at the map on the Pokemon Center wall deciding where to go next. After deciding I headed out and prepared to go west to Olivine City but Glacieric who was following behind me and grabbed my backpack and dragged me to east exit of Ecruteak City. I knew that he and the others wanted to go to Mahogony Town. So we headed east going to Mahogany Town. Once I got to Mahogany Town I looked at Snowblood and she tugged on my pants leg and pointed to the direction of the Lake of Rage. So I headed up there and when i got there it was storming and I saw a red Gyarados in the middle of the lake. I was confused I thought Gyarados were blue. I decided it should battle and capture this Gyarados so I sent out Frozenia and climbed on her back and went up to the Gyarados battled and captured it. After dealing with the Gyarados the rain stopped and a man in a black cape was standing on the edge. I got off Frozenia and the man in the cape came up to me and told me that Team Rocket was behind the madness. I let out a growl. We headed back to Mahogany Town and went into a suspicious building. Lance said it was responsible for the madness at the Lake of Rage. Inside we found a secret passage to an underground lair where a strange signal was being broadcasted. We stopped the the signal being sent out and Lance told me he was the Champion and he would see me at the Indigo Plateau. He then flew off on his Dragonite and I headed off to Olivine City

Lucy or Luce is fine. In terms of my Omega Ruby update, that is still the same, although Iron Lady, Basilisk, Kitsune and Thamill are all fully EV trained, but most likely not correctly seeing as I wasn't aiming to EV train them.

Breeder Riker's Progress
Spoiler:
I have always been fascinated by the steel type. It appears to be so strong and resistant as well as that, my sister Lucy who herself is a breeder, said that after I move to Hoenn she would send me some eggs with my favourite type in them. I smile when I arrive in Petalburg City and decide to pay dad a visit before Lucy sent me my team. She also sent me a bird to hatch them faster. Once everyone was hatched I smile. I then get straight to training, at least I know that they all have attacking moves, although I'm very weary about using my Beldum seeing as his move deals recoil damage which could hurt at such a low level. I know that it is going to be a slow grind but when my magnemite evolves I know that I can take on the gym.

Update on Diamond
I'll be doing my updates in first person story in the form of a journal for Diamond and it will be tweaked a little to differ from game play
Spoiler:
Day 1
Today Daimon dragged be off to Lake Verity to look for a legendary Pokemon. We saw a girl and an old man. The old man was called Rowan. We saw a briefcase so we had a look at it and saw there were three Pokeballs in the briefcase. We figured the briefcase belonged to the old man. Suddnely we were attacked by Starly and had to pick a Pokemon from the briefcase. I randomly chose one and threw it and out come a Piplup. We defeated the Starly and then the old man showed up again and asked what happened. Daimon and I headed home and I told Mum what happened and she told me the old man was Professor Rowan
Day 2
Headed to Sandgem Town to see Professor Rowan. As soon as I got to Sandgem I ran into the girl I saw with Professor. She introduced herself as Dawn and took me to the lab. On the way she told me that Daimon had already shown up and explained what happened yesterday. When we got to the lab Rowan said I could keep the Piplup on the condition I helped him filled the Pokedex. I agreed as I wanted to go on a journey of my own. Dawn told me to meet her on Route 202 so she could show me how to catch Pokemon. As soon as I left the lab I ran into my cousin Diamond who said he a gift for me. Diamond took my Piplup off me and gave 6 Pokemon and told me the Pokemon he had given me were an Eevee, Sableye, Houndour, Absol, Poochyena and Murkrow and that they were all registered to my Trainer ID. With that he left.
Day 6
Since my last entry I went was taught how to catch Pokemon by Dawn and I received a Pokemon Watch or Poketch for short in Jubilife City shortly after arriving. I then checked out the Pokemon School to increase my knowledge so I could better take care of my team. I then headed to Oreburgh City to earn the Coal Badge. When I stepped on Route 203 I was immediately challenged by Daimon to a battle. I accepted and defeated him easily as none of his attacks could affect Gem.I then resume my journey to Oreburgh City, Once I arrived in Oreburgh City I headed to the Oreburgh Mine so I could raise my Pokemon till I knew they could take on the Gym Lead. After raising my Pokemon I easily defeated the Gym Leader Roark. I then headed back to Jubilife City so I could head to Enterna City so I could Earn my next badge.

Time for the weekly update!

I'm just under halfway through the challenge now! I have the 3rd badge and a few of my Pokemon have evolved. I'm really excited for them, although I've given Pumpkaboo / Pumpia the everstone. I decided that as much as I like Pumpkaboo's evolution, I really prefer the un-involved form.

My Mink Cottonee is now at level 43. He knows Giga Drain, Fairy Wind, Energy Ball and Razor Leaf. Mink has good endurance and a bashful nature.

Sernin evolved into Serperior. He's at level 51 I reset his stats so I could retrain him. He knows leaf tornado, leaf blade, vine whip and giga drain. He's capable of taking hits and has a naive nature.

Foonias evolved into Amoonguss and is currently at level 42. They know absorb, clear smog, astonish, and synthesis. She has a bold nature and likes to relax.

Pumpia was given the everstone so she could remain Pumpkaboo as mentioned earlier. She has a serious nature and is strong willed. She knows the moves bullet seed, razor leaf, trick or treat, and shadow ball.

Snover is at level 38, knows the moves powder snow, icy wind, wood hammer, and razor leaf. He has a calm nature and is a little quick tempered.

Lilo is at level 44, knows the moves bubble beam, water sport, absorb and uproar. She has a bold nature and is strong willed.

Pokemon Breeder Rydel's Progress
Spoiler:

I have always wanted to be a pokemon breeder and watch as my own team becomes strong from how I have nurtured them. So when I had the chance to take six eggs from Professor Sycamore I was more than willing to do so. My team turned out to be Joltik, Eevee, Oshawott, Gible, Staryu and Growlithe. They all look so cute together. I decided to spend the past few days making sure that I max out all of their friendships so that we can be as good as possible. Once that was done it was time to continue training. I always lead with my little Joltik who can paralyse and use string shot to slow any enemy down before sending in my other pokemon to take it down. We have a lot of training before taking on Viola.

TEAM

I have to admit that there is something about my steel team that isn't appealing to me anymore, so I have decided to restart Omega Ruby with a new team of
Swinub, Piplup, Mareep, Munna, Absol and Frillish on normal mode

Wanted to drop by and give a thanks for joining us! I know we seem a bit slow, but the challenge is still up and I'm definitely happy for any new participants! Please let me know if you have any questions!

I am going to stop this challenge on Omega Ruby because I want to finish the game quickly in order to start some competitive stuff on this game

HyperJono June 7th, 2016 10:19 PM

I've decided to cancel the challenge I'm doing on my Diamond but I am still doing the challenge on my Soul Silver, I just haven't had been in the mood to play Pokemon last few weeks. There hasn't been any progress on my Soul Silver since I last updated

Ducktastic June 23rd, 2016 9:09 AM
