I stole this idea from GE

We all have that friend who hates anime. Most of us would like to broaden their horizons. So if you had three anime/manga series that you could force a person to read/watch to change their minds, which three would you pick?

Sorry if something like this is already here, I did a skim and didn't see anything though.

- Fate/Zero

- Cowboy Bebop

- Heaven's Lost Property (the manga, not the anime)

  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Gurenn Lagann
  • Desert Punk

Good ol' Gateways.

Baccano! - No brainer here, I actively use this now as a gateway.

Revolutionary Girl Utena - A lot of times when people choose gateway anime, they generally go for ones that have fewer anime tropes and, in layman's terms, "are less weird". I think, though, with Utena, you have the polar opposite. This show is highly eccentric and can tend to be filled with anime tropes, and yet even among its own medium it still stands out on its own for doing things that few (if any) shows dare to try or tackle. Whereas shows like Cowboy Bebop (probably the most used gateway), Baccano!, Samurai Champloo, what have you are generally recognized by Western influence and, more relevant, subtler touches on anime tropes, Utena's pretty overt about what medium it belongs to, but at the same time, is highly individual in a way that would otherwise fit the staple gateway shows.

*Cough* So yeah, Utena.

And, um...

Uh...

If they actively hate anime then they're probably not going to have their mind changed and they're pretty silly.

I'd show them all 3 seasons of Highschool DxD, it had a sort of hypnosis effect on me.

The real way to do it is to show them Fate Prisma, To Love Ru, and Monster Musume so that they'll hate it so much they'll watch everything you do just to criticize it.

Um... FMA, Code Geass to start slowly and... EVA to finish them off.
