Spending Quality Time
Phone, computer, video games and all those interactive device
It became one of the things that teenagers can't live without it and also the old ones which affect their relationship and health Let me ask you guys something, which one of these that you spend your valuable time more with? Your families or those devices? |
Why not both?
|
ahaha, sorry forgot to point about that XD
|
I agree with Pie. I actually do both myself. I spend a lot of time on my laptop, sure, but I still have enough time to spend with my parents. The problem for me is that I also don't have many friends in real life either. The only family I have are my parents who I live with too. The rest of my family lives elsewhere, mostly Maine.
There's also not a whole lot I can do with my parents. I don't connect with them because of my interests barrier. We don't always see eye to eye on a lot of things either. However, I do have moments where I can be in the car with just my dad and me, and the two of us can talk about many things. You also make it sound like these things are a bad thing. My iPad actually helps me express myself better. It also helps me because I have a hard time holding pencils when writing stories as well. I have special needs, and my iPad is what helps me to overcome most of their challenges and struggles I face. If it weren't for my iPad, I never would have been able to explain to my therapist/psychiatrist what was going on with my brain. He never would have put me on something that would help control my depressive tendencies. |
Since satelite TV has hit the crap antenna, I spend my last months with my families to watch 70s old movies before I go to college.

Honestly I spend alot of my time with my mum anyway but I wouldnt want to spend time with my family as they irritate me and make fun of me especially my brother.
I would say I do spend alot of time on my laptop and phone. |
What are you talking about? My electronic devices are my new family. (So, basically I choose devices over family)
|
My devices are the reason why I have a new family. One that is superior to my natural one in every way.
I use my devices not out of boredom, but loneliness. It is difficult for me to find friends when I can't drive and don't leave the house very often. My family has nothing in common with me, and speak a completely different language. (Literally, they don't speak English) Communication is difficult and a frustrating exercise. Even when I went to school, I was too timid to make friends. But I had so many online. It is because of these devices that I have been able to improve my mental health significantly. And one of the friends I made online? He became a reality. Three or so years ago, he moved in with me, and now we're going to be married. We use our devices together, because we enjoy electronics. With him here, I can chose both. Because he is my true family now. To me, these devices are things that can bring people together if used appropriately. Sometimes, teenagers don't quite know how to moderate their usage, this is true. And it is up to the parents to teach them how to use them healthily and appropriately. But everyone always thinks of the "quelling boredom" applications and forget that some people might just want some friends to talk to. Family isn't everything, after all. You can't choose your family, their interests, or even what language they speak. You can choose your friends. |
Definitely my devices.
I have been trying to make more effort to spend time with my parents, and it's definitely worked. Usually we do things like go to museums or visit Sydney. I'm pretty close with both of them. Mostly we just do small things like. Since my parents frequently go to the mosque on Fridays, or they're visiting my older sister and her kids, I'm often stuck at home with my older brother. It's good to spend time with your parents since they're not going to be around forever. Spending quality time with Fahd? Definitely not! My brother and I have nothing in common. Most of the time he's busy watching football and rugby, playing Call of Duty, or talking with his dopey friends on Facebook. He doesn't like to do laps at the pool, watch anime, or play Nintendo games, so it's hard to spend time with him. Plus he's a health food nut, unlike me with the sweet tooth. Fahd's friends always tell him that they can't believe he's related to me. |
Computer is my family.
P.S. It sounds sad to be honest. |
I'm on the computer way more than any normal rational human being so I guess that's your answer..
|
Growing up, I always spent a good amount of time with my family, and that's still true when I visit now. We always eat dinner together, and we generally spend time together in the evening (admittedly, in front of the TV with a movie, but it still counts). We also have a lot of conversations.
On a day-to-day basis, though, I spend far more time on my computer than I do with family, and I suppose my only interaction with my family most of the time (via phone) uses an electronic device. I don't know how many hours per day I spend in front of some sort of screen, but it's a lot. |
