Bedtime routine
Since we have one for mornings, why not for bedtime? :3
http://i.imgur.com/SCJ9gIw.gif let's take a moment to aww at this sleepy duckling x3 Anyway, what's your bedtime routine? Basically, what are the things you usually do before you go to bed at night? My bedtime routine is pretty different. First off, I have to make sure my electronics are being charged, especially my laptop. I keep it on at nighttime, but I close the cover done. The reason I leave it on is because it's got a slow boot up for reasons I don't know. Just the way it is, I guess. I also have to make sure my phone is being charged. Then, I turn on my high turbulance fan, which keeps me cool at night. Also, I have to make sure my TV is on Disney Junior. Mind you, I watch this channel because it's commercial free. Plus, the TV shows feel a lot better than on Disney Channel (some of those shows are just plain shitty as fuck). I often have to find something to snuggle with, either my favorite fluffy blanket or a plushie. I can't sleep without having something in my arms at all. It makes my arms feel as if they don't know what to do when I try to sleep. >< Oh, and I also have to make sure I'm in my underwear and a t-shirt. Sorry if that's awkward, but I get hot easily at night. XC This is an autistic routine. Bare with me. So, what is your usual bedtime routine? |
I would say that I don't really have a night routine. Mondays - Fridays I get off work at 5 and then I'll either go visit the ponies at the barn, work out, play Pokemon or watch TV. If I'm dirty I'll take a shower at night, if not I'll take one in the morning. Before bed I do wash my face and brush my teeth though.

When I get home, after dinner and dishes I tend to change to more comfortable clothing and relax for a while. That can be playing a video game, watching tv, and/or browsing the web. When it's time for me to go to sleep, I brush my teeth and then head to bed (I prefer to shower in mornings heh).

My bedtime routine starts with taking off my make-up with my cleanser, then washing off the oiliness with the foam cleanser. Then I take a shower (brush my teeth in the shower)-- with either scalding hot or freezing cold depending on whether it's winter or summer here, and I blow dry my hair-- and since my hair is so long the process takes like 30 minutes total.
From there it's more skin care, slapping on my tonic, essence, and emulsion- and then facial cream. Crawl on up to my loft, turn on either my electric blanket or ceiling fan, and plug in my phone to charge so I can surf around on my phone till I run out of things to do and fall asleep! |
Watch an episode of West Wing, put it on a sports channel, drift into slumber.

I usually sleep with my air conditioning or fan on and I snuggle inside my blankets. If it's winter I skip the air conditioning and leave the fan. I love the cold I guess.

-> Go up into my room. Mother watches a lot of rubbish, so I've taken to lounging on my bed for a couple of hours or so before sleeping. I find I'm a lot more relaxed this way, too.
-> Put NCIS on for background noise. It's almost-always on, so I don't usually have to hunt for something else. -> Read something. Usually a graphic novel or comic book, but it depends on what I feel like. I have a few psychology books I'm working through right now. -> Watch an episode of whatever anime I happen to be watching at the time. -> Get told by Lisia to go to bed -> Disengage from Skype conversations -> Shut down laptop and take it downstairs. I'm terrified of dropping my laptop down the stairs in the morning when I'm half-asleep, so I take it down beforehand, when I'm marginally awake. -> Spend about half an hour pondering whilst trying to sleep. Give or take a bit. Good days I'm asleep within about ten minutes. Bad days I'm awake until around midnight. |

Grab tablet, go lie on couch (with a/c on if summer months; it blows right over the couch, so definitely a nice cool area then), open up youtube and find relaxing videos to listen to. Listen to said videos until I either doze off and wake up and realize I should then go to bed, or until I give up with relaxing and just...go to bed and see what happens then.

While I have a bit of a routine for the morning, I don't really have a consistent one at night. Lately this is what I've been doing before bed:
- go over calculus notes - watch the bachelor bc I'm gross & decided to watch it AFTER the finale. - brush my teeth/put on moisturizer - try to get my cat to stay in my room & usually fail - read a chapter or so of whatever I'm reading - take my meds & I'm off to bed (kind of, I take forever to fall asleep) \o/ |

Brush my teeth and stuff, and then mess around on PC or youtube. Then actually get into bed and lay there forever thinking about stuff. Then finally falling asleep and feeling like crap in the morning.
