Travel Diaries
For those of us who have gone somewhere on vacation, or who love to travel around, share your experiences! This is a thread to talk about a place you've been to, share some of your favorite pictures, and talk about your favorite things to do and see in that location. You can see where other members have been and indulge in your wanderlust~
For example, If I wanted to talk about my trip to Seattle: Seattle -Reasons why I was there: -Points of interest + photos of these places -Recommendations to those visiting: Don't feel the need to talk about all the places you've been in one post! You can dedicate each post you make to a different place :) I'll post mine later. Bon Voyage! |
Hey all.
First of all I live in Greece. Unfortunately I have traveled only in Greece, but Greece has so many beautiful places to go, also the islands are Great here. I will talk about my village, it's name is Derveni (Korinthias), . -Reasons why I was there: My father lived there so that's why I am traveling to this place. -Points of interest +photos of these places: At the summer, I have the best time there, Swimming all day, Having fun with friends at the beach. It's just too good. Also the sea there is clear and very "blue", the most times the sea is clear but others times it has waves in Summer. Photos (the 2 underwater are mine.) Spoiler:
-Recommendations to those visitng: I don't think i sould write something at this one because this place isn't that familiar, there are so many places in Greece that i will definately post later or another day. |
Last May I went to visit a friend in British Columbia. It was a blast to fly over to the Rockies and I took a fair number of pictures (shame they all sorta look the same though). We stayed at his house for about 4/7 days in Kamloops - then we went to Vancouver for 2 days to attend a Streetlight Manifesto Concert! :D
Spoiler:
It might sound silly - but living in Ontario and not traveling a whole lot, I've never truly seen mountains before. It was awesome to fly over the Rockies and take a bus ride through another mountain range afterwards (Banff?). :D Spoiler:

^ I literally squealed when seeing those photos, I can't wait to go to BC this summer!!
My trip to Seattle (I was there an exact year ago today!) Reason for visiting:Tbh, I had always wanted to see Seattle, it seemed like a city I would enjoy. My boyfriend and I went there during his spring break & we explored the city and attended one day of Emerald City Comicon. We went to the Pike Place Market each morning we were there for breakfast. It's HUGE. It's multiple floors full of shops, fish/meat markets, flowers, souvenirs...basically, if you want it you will find it there. We'd get food & then head to the waterfront which is so gorgeous. The water is so blue and clear~~ It's funny, it was sunny and clear until our last night there. Like Ullion, I live in a really flat area so the streets all being hills and being so close to a mountain was so much fun. Pictures: View from where we were staying: Spoiler:
The water: Spoiler:
A selection of the food from the market: Spoiler:
On the wall outside the market: Spoiler:

Mind you, this is a while back. It was during our Grand Canyon trip when my aunt was visiting with us. I am a huge train lover, so most of the pics will be of trains. We took a trip to the Grand Canyon on a train.
Spoiler:
Also, funny sign btw: Spoiler:
I didn't want to post everything. I also didn't think it would be appropriate in posting the pictures of my family either. :c So yeah. There you go. |
The last time I went on a trip was Oregon October 2014 for my aunt's funeral. Despite that, spending time with my relatives was fun. The pictures I have here are ones when my family and I were walking downtown Portland.
Park and one of the bridges. I took a few pics as Portland has a few bridges, but I'll only show a couple. Spoiler:
Bridge again. Spoiler:
One of the boats used as a little cruise. Spoiler:
Another boat, this time a museum. Spoiler:
That days there was a market night where there are several vendors selling food, clothing, makeup, etc. Unfortunately I didn't get to take pictures of those. D= Not far from Portland is Multnomah Falls. I mentioned in one of the other threads how I was only able to hike halfway through, lol. One of the pics of the waterfall. Spoiler:

Last year I went to Japan to visit friends and just be a tourist. I went to Sapporo then Okinawa then Tokyo.
Sapporo If Tokyo seems like a crowded, daunting place to you, might I recommend this nice city? It's up in the north in Hokkaido so it gets snow reliably each year and they have a snow festival which includes those giant ice sculptures you might have seen. The food here is really good (as it is everywhere in Japan) and their variety of ramen is made with miso and usually has corn and butter as toppings. If you like sushi and fish and seafood is has the freshest (and cheapest) of that anywhere in Japan. There are a lot of things to see in and around the city. It has a zoo with red pandas (!!!) and large outdoor sculpture garden. There's lots of shopping including a Pokemon Center. It's also just a really nice and pretty city with lots of parks and places to eat and shop. If you like the outdoors it's not that far to take a train to anywhere on the island for skiing or just sightseeing. If you like hot springs you don't have to go far either. Spoiler:
These are some pictures I took with my phone so they're not the best. There's an old government building, a park, a sign in front of the zoo, and the entrance to the sculpture garden. In a lot of ways I think of Sapporo as the city you could go to to see what real, normal life in Japan is like. |
