NU team looking for suggestions
Before we start I'll just say this team is not complete, only have 4 pokemon and it has a major weakness to the overpowered earthquake. Any suggestions for the last 2 pokemon to complete this team would be cool, I want to use only NU and PU pokemon but hope that they can take on OU since I random battle most of the time.
Dragonair was not able to find its tier on smogon but another site said it was NU let me know if this is incorrect Modest-252 special attack 252 HP 6 def Hidden ability Rest Thunderbolt Flamethrower Surf I really wanted a dragonair on my team but until it evolves into dragonite it doesn't have that good a moveset physically so this is just a "surprise" pokemon to take out threats that don't expect it. Move set can easily be changed because of its amazing special coverage let me know if something would work better. It has eveolite to make it last as long as possible. Has done alright but still 2 shot by earthquakes. Raichu Jolly-252 speed, 252 special defense 6 HP static Thunder punch Nuzzle Knock off Volt switch Most of my team is something you wouldnt really expect. My raichu uses assault vest and in many of the games (around 20) since I have made this team in a 1v1 3 pokes only this raichu has done work. Nuzzle has really helped this team out and raichu can still deal out a good amount of damage if they are not physically bulky. It out speeds most threats and can tank special attacks easily. This is a pokemon I doubt I will change but do let me know what you think would be a good move set for her I don't use volt tackle because it kills me to fast and doesn't bring all that much to the table. Mawile Adamant 252 hp 252 defense 6 hp intimidate Play rough Super fang Stockpile Swallow I love mawile, was my first mega to use and I just grew attached. This mawile is probably considered really bad since it has wide lens, and from what I've seen so far thats probably true. I decided to go with wide lens to make sure I dont get screwed over by a miss and thought this would be a good mawile because nothing really would want to swap into a super fang. From my experience though I've had trouble getting it to work for it cant take a special attack at all and it also really cant take a physical one unless it resists it. Really need tips to get mawile to be awesome but I wont mega evolve it because that would shoot me into OU. Flareon Brave 252 attack 252 hp 6 special defense guts Flare blitz Overheat quick attack super power I thought this flareon would work but its another pokemon I'm having trouble with. So long as it doesn't get resisted and my toxic orb pops this thing one shots nearly everything I've come accrosed. The issue is its to slow and everything out speeds it and 1 shots it. Even if I decided to go adamant instead of brave that wouldn't change and I really need that attack to do damage and that hp so flare blitz doesn't 2 shot me. The last 2 pokemon I just don't know. I know I need something to counter earthquake, and dragon types are a small issue still too but I also think I may need trick room but if I do that raichu hurts me instead of helps. Anyone have ideas? My plan is to do 6v6 singles |
Dragonair is listed as a NFE (not fully evolved) in Smogon's metagame. It's not barred from any tier. Also Ice Beam>Surf on it. Still hits Grounds super effectively while also being super effective against Dragons. There's a few cases where Surf would be a bit better but you have room to fit in something with a Water attack.
What you'll wanna put in the last 2 slots is stuff that has one or more of: Stealth Rocks, Ground immunity, and high speed. There are fortunately a fair number of Ground immune Pokemon in NU, so you can take your pick. Also appears to be a good number of potential Stealth Rockers as well. For the speedy stuff there appears to be things like Liepard, Swellow, Tauros, Vivillon, Liligant, Barbaracle (those 3 boosting their speed via Quiver Dance/Shell Smash), etc. Could throw a Scarf on something. Also as far as I know Flareon is a pretty bad Fire type and there should be better options in NU. Take what I say with a grain of salt though, I've never played NU so this is just based off of battle fundamentals and looking at the list of NU 'mons. |
While it's tempting to use Stockpile + Swallow on Mawile, these waste two valuable moveslots that could've gone to a coverage attack. As Nah mentioned, a Stealth Rock setter on this team would be ideal, so Steelix is a nice replacement for Mawile:
-Stealth Rock -Heavy Slam -Earthquake -Toxic Nature: Adamant EVs: 144 HP/136 Atk/128 SDef Item: Leftovers Ability: Sturdy The other reasons why Steelix is superior over Mawile is higher Defense and Sturdy to ensure it almost always does something before it gets KOed. Torterra is also something worth considering over Mawile for a Ground resistance and a Stealth Rock setter: -Stealth Rock -Wood Hammer -Earthquake -Synthesis Nature: Adamant EVs: 252 HP/128 Atk/128 Def Item: Leftovers Raichu should be using the Lightning Rod ability to give it an immunity to predicted Electric attacks. It's also way too frail to make use of Nuzzle effectively: -Nasty Plot -Thunderbolt -Hidden Power (Ice) -Focus Blast Nature: Timid EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe Item: Life Orb Ability: Lightning Rod Mega Audino is a nice Dragon check and has excellent overall bulk to tank strong attacks with. Take note that Dragons aren't too common in NU outside of the occasional Fraxure and Sliggoo: -Calm Mind -Dazzling Gleam -Rest/Wish -Sleep Talk/Protect Nature: Bold EVs: 252 HP/208 Def/48 SAtk Item: Audinite Ability: Regenerator or -Dazzling Gleam -Fire Blast -Surf/Psychic/Thunder Wave -Calm Mind/Healing Wish Nature: Modest EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe Item: Audinite Ability: Regenerator or -Wish -Protect -Dazzling Gleam -Fire Blast/Heal Bell/Encore Nature: Calm EVs: 252 HP/128 Def/128 SDef Item: Audinite Ability: Regenerator |
