Hey, how are you doing? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Hello anyone and everyone - first post on this forum for me and I'm happy to finally have joined. I saw some interesting posts and wanted to join the debates on PC.
My experience with Pokemon has been highs and lows. When I was little I grew up with Pokemon Red and Blue at the time it was the most popular in my country (Denmark). My parents didn't understand gaming, like at all, and I wasn't permitted to play games other than those early games on a stationary computer. Remember DX-Ball? 3D Ultra games? Mythical games with fantastic graphics, am I right? xD There were exceptions, since my older brother and I begged for Pokemon Yellow. The thing was we had to share it and ... yeah, it became his trough size and intimidation ... o_o On a more positive note, at my school was my best friend at the time. His parents were more open-minded to gaming, and we played on his gameboy whenever we could - when everyone else our age played hide-and-seek or football (or "soccer" for you americanz). Most children at our school didn't care much for gaming other than Pokemon trading cards, so he was happy to let me play with him. I visited his house whenever he had a new game to play and after helping out the elderly with mundane tasks and conversations I earned enough money to buy a gameboy for myself, and since my friend got Yellow version from his parents he gave me his Blue version. He was my best childhood friend - but since my parents had to move for other jobs we lost contact ... I'm still searching though. Nikolai, wherever you are out there. ;) On that note, our new town we moved to didn't care about Pokemon - almost as if gaming was a foreign concept to be honest. This was in the beginning of the 2nd generation mind you. I remember my norwegian cousin and I playing Pokemon Silver and Gold once, that's the closest to anyone in my family caring about gaming. That was until I saw a guy on the bus playing on a Gameboy, and ever since then he and I have talked about gaming - he gave up on Pokemon when gen 3 ended but came back with gen 6 because of Mega-Charizard ... I know, not like the other games in between were great or anything. xD Anyways, over the years I earned enough money to buy titles for the GBA like Pokemon Ruby + Emerald + Mystery Dungeon along with other franchises like Mario and Wario games, Advance Wars, Bomberman games, Crash Bandicoot games, some Legend of Zelda games and so on. Then, with the Nintendo DS I played Pokemon Diamond and Platinum along with whatever they sold in the "cheap games" like Donkey Kong GBA, more Advance Wars games and whatever looked interesting. Also a good collection of Playstation 1 and 2 games. :P Nowadays I play Pokemon through Pokemon Showdown and Emulators to relieve my nostalgia and try out some games I haven't played. I'm open minded and will play pretty much any Nintendo game I can play either through emulator or buy online for the consoles I still have (GBC, GBA, Wii and Nintendo DS). Thanks for listening - may you have a nice day! ;D |
