E3 expectations?
So, the Nintendo live conference at E3 takes place tomorrow.
What do you expect from that when it comes to Pokemon? I think we'll most likely get Iwanko and Nekkoala's English names, see in-game footage of the new Zygarde's forms, and maybe a more detailed view of the starting town. |

As mentioned, we didn't learn Mega Evolution until some time after E3 ended (I believe it was August 2013 when that was revealed), so I probably expect us learning our bracelets and their purpose around a few months later. Anyways, onto E3 and I believe we'll be getting gameplay shown and maybe a couple of new Pokemon since it was the case I recall for XY, with some new Pokemon (and Fairy-type) getting revealed around E3 time.
|
I checked the Serebii archieve and it seems that E3 showed off Sky Battles as well as Hoard Battles.
|
Not to mention multiple new pokemon. I doubt we will see the new feature or whatever the new bracelet does. We didn't learn about that August.
Hoard Battles, Sky Battles, Triple Battles, Rotation Battles, Megas in ORAS and New pokemon is what we have seen in the last 2 gens at E3. I am kinda hoping for Water Battles. Similar to sky battles, but with water and water types, or any pokemon that can swim. |
Quote:
I expect to get Quad Battles to follow the trend of Doubles in Gen III, and Triples in Gen V. |

If its the first gameplay footage then I can imagine them to show the first areas with a couple of battles perhaps with the rival. I wouldn't be surprised if they also shown a couple of new early Pokemon including that Bird Pokemon that was seen in the very first trailer.
|
7 hours until the livestream now... and we'll check back here and see which of our predictions were right.
|
oh
|
My guess:
We will not get new pokemon. We will get a video that shows the region, 1 or 2 gym leaders, a few cities, and Mega Greninja for the end. |
I just thought: they might reveal the bird pokemon we had seen in the very first trailer? So we could have something more than what was revealed on the Corocoro?

E3 is a huge event, having such little info would be the wrong thing to do. Especially with how much it costs to travel there and what not. There would literally be little point for Pokemon to even be at E3 for Sun and Moon. As for what I want to see is this: 4 to 6 new pokemon not including ones we know. New battle, when I am hoping for a water themed battle. A few new looks at towns. Maybe 2 or 3 new Megas. Possibly ones we may see in the anime soon that we have yet to see. Confirmation of a 2nd Rival or if Lillie gets the 3rd starter. |
Just a little under an hour to go now!

I guess it just depends on how long the actual segment runs for. If they show us 5-10 minutes of footage then we could certainly see quite a lot of information, at least from the start of the game. Ideally I'd like to see one of the Gym Leaders too, again though idk whether they would showcase that just yet?
|
It's Nintendo Treehouse, they're just going to show off some gameplay, right? Either way, it's the first official live gameplay we'll see, so we're bound to see and learn more new things, I'm excited! Not sure what at all to expect, but here's hoping there's a lot of good stuff!
I'm hoping to hear more in-game music for the first time, learning about more new and old Pokémon that will appear in the game, and possibly learn about new characters like the Alola Gym Leaders. |
Wasn't it already supposed to start?
|
sigh so far they showed the trailer we have already seen and now just asking dumb questions we already know the answers too...
|
Huh, so Masuda isn't the Director this time. Also it's confirmed that Alola's isolated from the other regions.
|
Past gen Pokemon around from the start.
I like the new battle screen layout, and being able to access move info easily. |
Well Ledyba confirmed.
|
I love the music. It reminds me of the Emerald Battle Frontier music...
|
REALLY looking awesome so far!!
But I'm afraid that the Pokémon models aren't improved, compared to the current gen. Some people talked about possible enhancement on the Pokémon models itself. |
I like how the move list can tell you if the move will be effective, super effective, or not effective on the opponent Pokémon. This will help me out against Fairy-types for sure.
|
omg can this guy click BUTTONS ALREADY :@ lol
|
New Pokemon, Yungoos
They blocked the screen when it would have been the pokedex entry :( |
New Pokémon! Yungoos. So the Kanto early bug and the Johto early bug confirmed. Might we see the others?
|
Really like the new Lass and the transition of the 3D model to the 2D picture of usual trainer.
|
I want to see a wailmer next to a joltick with these proportions
|
Yungoos! So it seems Iwanko isn't the starting rodent?
|
I was SO HYPE
but it looks like all I missed was one new Pokemon.. Maybe the Pokemon GO info will be more generous with new info. |
I like the models, and that they still have 2D art work for the NPC battlers too.
It was a Woodpecker! |
Pikipek, woodpecker pokemon
2 evolutions, or paired pokemon |
Pikipek woodpecker pokemon.
|
Loving the new battle interface! The overworld is so amazing! the character moves so nicely! There's an in-battle interface that allows you to see stat changes from moves like Growl or Swords Dance.
|
Pekipek to me looks like a fusion of Fletching and Starly.
|
Looks like the new Bird Pokemon could have two evolutions going by the Pokedex entry screen?
|
Finally Hala. He's a trainer.

OHMYGOd i take back my last post, the bird is pretty cute. Yet another early-on flying team that will stay on my team 5ever.

Wonder what the Tapu Koko is
|
Tape-koko? Could it be the legendary reflected by the Souvenir in XY?

latest news on this topic (qoute from: serebii.net):
"Pokémon Sun & Moon - Nintendo Treehouse Live Today is the first day of Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 2016 and starting it off is coverage of Pokémon Sun & Moon following a trailer for Zelda. This is to include the first live gameplay and will feature Junichi Masuda. This post will be updated with every new tidbit as we go and you can watch the stream here as standard. Edit @ 17:09: The game is being directed by Shigeru Ohmori while Junichi Masuda is the overall producer 17:17: Part of the focus on the development of the starters was on their movement when in battle. 17:21: Ledyba can be found in Route 1 of the game. The move lists can bring up full details and tell you if the move will be effective, super effective, or not effective on the opponent Pokémon 17:26: You can now see how a stat has been altered via moves in battle 17:26: Ledyba is #020 in the Alola Region Pokédex and will show you the evolution chain or if it forms a pair 17:28: New Pokémon called Yungoos. It's always hungry and can be found in Route 1" I posted in another topic on my thoughts about the thing with the focus on the starters movement in battle. (if youre intrested its the "Rowlet, Popplo.....all share a Secret..."-Thread) Treehouse is about to start and i got my internet connection cutr to 56kb/s cuz my traffic is already empty -.- i hate it. please, could someone come over, bring some fast internet? |

I really love the detail to the backgrounds in this game. It's come such a long way. ;w; |
Who's Tapu Koko or whatever? the deity of the island, and the protagonist has been "touched" buy it... I also saw something about praising Meemee?
|
Is Tapu Koko the strange souvenir pokemon ?
|
Battle Royal, 4 way battle?
|
I knew it, they have shown off new modes in the E3's for BW and XY.
|
loving Hau's battle theme?
|
New Battle type named Battle Royale. + clothes customization confirmed.
|
Popplio learning Disarming voice? Fairy secondary type confirmed??
|
Elio and Selene trainer names.
|
Battle Royale..... I'm so ready. *^*
Sun and Moon aren't disappointing, omg. |
Ah, it's over now :(
At least we got 2 more new Pokémon. |
Elio named is based on Helios the personification of the Sun. And Selene is the moon obviously.
|
They're dumbing down the series too much. God forbid a newbie has to play the game for a bit before they work out which types are effective to which. This battle royal feature is a cool idea but ending it as soon as one trainer loses their Pokemon seems anticlimactic. The woman fielding the questions was talking as if she was being held at gunpoint and that guy playing the demo absolutely sucked. Lol at getting wiped out in a Pokemon demo.
It was cool to see more of the region and some of the new Pokemon at least. |

As for the stuff they added, it all seems very neat. I'm not entirely sure where the flak for how effective move types are being listed with the move is coming from given it's relatively unobtrusive and it's something most newbies would figure out fairly fast anyway and would probably ignore if they weren't paying attention. The cell shading looks loads better than X/Y/ORAS, and I really like how detailed everything looks. The protagonist being touched by their patron deity seems very interesting though. Could our box legendaries actually be considered gods in this storyline? Or could there be other legendary Pokemon in the game that are actively being worshiped by the citizens of Alola? It's certainly intriguing. |

I have to agree. After seeing that live stream, I am really hoping for a difficulty setting now more than ever. It's just becoming a very hold-your-hand kind of game. I understand the reasoning behind it, because they are trying to appeal to a wider, and possibly even younger than before, audience. But I have to admit that it's kind of annoying to fans who have played the games before, and want some sort of a challenge. I mean, I liked having to memorize type effectiveness and things of that nature. But again, they are trying to appeal to the masses. It does make it a heck of a lot easier for anyone who has never played Pokemon, so I have to give them credit although I might not like some of the changes. I loved the fact that they showcased the region, and seeing new Pokemon was great, as you said. Just really hoping that we get a difficulty setting. |

The Official Pokemon website has updated with the new Bug-type Pokemon, Grubbin. Don't think this Pokemon was shown in the segment for E3 but it looks like it could be the new early Bug-type!
|
Wow, more new Pokémon? I better check them out after I take a break from watching Zelda.

Here we go.... people bellyaching about the games becoming too simple. Can we please just get over that? Enjoy the new pokemon. Enjoy the new Region. Enjoy the Graphics. Enjoy the storyline. People complain in EVERY SINGLE GAME I play because they are making things simpler and I really hate the argument that people have to do homework or study something to enjoy a game. It takes the fun out of things.
Does everything have to be over complicated? For the most part. I never have problems choosing the wrong move, because for the most part I remember them all. I have trouble remembering that Dark is Immune to Psychic sometimes, but that's about it. I did have problems with Fairy when it first come out, but I have a better understanding of it now. |
Why isn't anyone talking about how Popplio can learn a fairy type move? Doesn't that kind of prove it's final evolution will be part fairy?
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
A move I didn't expect, but with the Water/Fairy speculation for its final evo it does seem to make sense now. Maybe there's a chance it could learn another Fairy move later, such as Play Rough. |
I wouldn't necessarily take Popplio learning a Fairy-type move as conclusive evidence that it will eventually become Water/Fairy-type. Plenty of Pokemon (including starters) learn different types of moves in their early stages that aren't relative to their typing, Chespin can learn Rollout which is a Rock-type move for example. Disarming Voice is a move that can be learnt by several non Fairy-type Pokemon, so it can't really be proven just yet.

Maybe I'll start warming up to the idea as the generations keep adding more Pokemon but right now I still think it's unnecessary. |
Quote:
If you don't like it you don't have to use it, it's not forced on you at all. Part of the perceived lack of difficulty in the games is because you aren't a young child any more, the game will NEVER have the same feel of difficulty as it did the first time you played because you now know all the mechanics and are older, cleverer, etc. |
Being really bad at strategy, I'm actually quite happy that there is this effectiveness-thing during the battles. I've been playing Pokémon for 20 years, and I've never been able to memorise the types tables. Maybe we'll be able to disable this feature, who knows? But still I'm quite happy that they added that.
But other than that, I'm really hyped for the game in itself! The region looks nice, the new Pokémons look great (yup, even Yungoos), and I can't wait to learn more! But I wish we had learnt the US names for Iwanko and Nekkoala.. |

So Eevee was in the newest trailer. In all regions where Eevee is in the dex except for the Neo Unova dex, Eevee has gotten a new eeveelution. Chances are that the appearance of Eevee in Alola could be hinting at another eeveelution.

But then, there's the chance we could just have Eevee and its line in the Dex for aesthetic reasons and we may not get a new Eeveelution as a result. |
Quote:
|
I would to have a Dragon Eeveelution, but what I would like the most would be a normal type eeveelution!

But it was probably just to show off Magearna's ability. |
Is there more Sun & Moon info coming tomorrow and Thursday? Or was today everything?
|
It will be interesting to see what they announce tomorrow at the Pokemon GO one!

Of course older and more experienced players will feel more adept but there was still an undeniable drop off in difficulty for the 6th gen games. I don't know how you can deny this between being gifted Megas like Lucario and stones for your starter when you only have to face a handful of trainers in-game who have a mega themselves (not complaining about megas just the lack of opposition who use them), X&Y's Elite Four having less than 6 Pokemon for their team, getting one of the Lati twins in ORAS without having to catch it and all before you even get your fourth badge ect. Inb4 you just suggest not using those Pokemon. Doesn't change the fact that they're lowering the difficulty and holding your hand through these games more than ever these days. Part of the reason the difficulty has decreased is because gamefreak are targeting a younger and more casual audience with their newer games. It's why they didn't include a battle frontier for the Hoenn remakes. In an interview about ORAS Junicha Masuda said this. Q:Why wasn't the Battle Frontier in the remakes? A:This question is connected with my previous answer. We didn't put the BF in ORAS for this very reason. Interviewer's note: In short he means that they didn't include the BF because only a very small part of the players would have fully appreciated and made use of this feature; nowadays players get bored and frustrated more easily and they aren't interested in things that are so demanding/challenging. |

I don't think it's about everything needing to be over complicated, but it is somewhat annoying to fans who actually want some sort a challenge, you know? I will say that people who have an issue with some of the new simplified mechanics (myself included) do have to remember the fact that the developers are trying to appeal to wider demographics and bigger audiences now more than ever. And because of that, mechanics and technicalities are going to become more and more simple. They want to make it so anyone could pick up Sun and Moon as their first Pokemon game and understand what they are doing pretty quickly. That being said, I still hope this is a feature we can choose to disable or enable after the tutorial portion of the game is over. Convenience features such as this should be used at the player's discretion. |

I was surprised that we got nothing that was revealed in Corocoro and that it was mainly all new info or a in depth look at what we already knew. |
How amazing was that earlier though? I'm slightly late to the parade, but honestly the hype bus is real. There was definitely an element of frustration when the first Pokémon encountered was a Ledyba. I was literally just expecting them to say, that's all we've got time for today! But it was good to see a few new Pokémon in the end. How is one supposed to wait until November?
