We've kind of been changing/creating the rules as we go, so I understand your confusion. How it works is: we sign up, claiming at least our starter Pokemon. As soon as you catch another one, you post in this thread stating which species. The post may contain as much or as little information about it as you'd like, but you have to at least tell us what species of Pokemon it is. Before the 4th badge, we may only have up to 3 Pokemon (just to speed things up). After the 4th badge, we can choose to catch up to three more Pokemon for our party, bringing us up to a maximum of 6. The same rule about posting applies here; you have to at least tell us the species of Pokemon, but any other little surprises (a couple perfect IVs, egg moves, HA, etc) can be left out. Should one of your Pokemon evolve after you claim it, and before you get the chance to battle anyone, you don't need to update or post again - count it as another little "surprise". Evolutions can be easily predicted anyway so long as you know what level Pokemon we're dealing with (and we will).

If you want to swap Pokemon, you have the chance to do so at the beginning of each "section". So, for example, tomorrow when we start the Knuckle Badge section, everyone will get a chance to swap one or all of their Pokemon. Keeps things fresh, and this wasn't meant to be super competitive anyway. Just for fun :)

I'm gonna re-write the rules in a bit though and add everything we've tweaked/come up with together. I'll also add you to the list of players right now, and your FC to my system :) Welcome to the play-through.

Okay I understand now. Can you add that my mudkip is called Finnick?

Absolutely :)

Guys I have a question for you. How do you feel about only using Pokemon obtainable up to our current progress in game, MINUS that "special starter" we can have? I think it would add a level of fairness, to a degree. I understand if we've planned our teams outside the Hoenn Pokedex though, so if this is a problem for you speak up! Make your voice heard :p

This wouldn't particularly bother me as my team is all obtainable thought Hoenn, but I'm not really against using Pokemon from the national dex and other games :)

stzy June 26th, 2016 3:33 PM

I think I feel like it would make this play-through seem more unique to ORAS and the Hoenn region, too. But I agree with you, Legend, I'm not against it either. Was just an idea.

I get your point and I don't disagree with that either. It would give this play through a proper Hoenn/ORAS feel to it

My current "Dream Team" is completely obtainable in the Hoenn pokedex. So it wouldn't bother me if you decided to put a "Hoenn Team" only restriction on the play through.
If we have the Hoenn only restriction, maybe we can just have an agreement to try and fight one another with our perfect teams after we all complete the playthrough, that way we can all see one another's power in battling with no restrictions at the end. :D

I'm probably being a dunce but do we have legendary rules? Obviously we have the Lati's and Primal Groudon/Kyogre later on which might make the game oddly skewed if we used them...

BlackTalon June 26th, 2016 11:01 PM

I didn't really have a particular team in mind, I more of just go along my way and if I find a cool pokemon, then I might add it to my team. Obviously with this style then my team would be completely obtainable in Hoenn only.

Well, let's decide right now. Should we use legendaries? I'm of a mind with you, I think we should exclude them for now. What's everyone else's opinion?

ALSO how many days for the Knuckle Badge? Do you guys wanna just group the Knuckle and Dynamo badges together? We'd miss a battle but idk... it's up to you.

I don't have an opinion on using the lati's. and maybe like two days for the knuckle badge?

By the way I have just beaten Roxanne so I'm ready to battle people, I'll be on throughout today

I'm already at the next level cap, but I'll battle you on level 50 if you'd like? Up to you.

And seeing as today is that beginning of the second section, I'm going to switch out Taillow for Kirlia.

Lrachelr5 June 27th, 2016 6:13 AM

I haven't hit the level cap from Roxanne. I would be fine battling at level 50. Should I wait and just battle people after Brawley?

Alrighty just let me add your FC, I think I forgot to last night. You want me to use the Taillow I just switched out instead of Kirlia, since that's who I had in my party during that section? I don't mind either way :)

Its up to you, I don't mind who you use

stzy June 27th, 2016 6:33 AM

I'm not even gonna add that to the wins, it wasn't really fair... I had some moves I wouldn't have had at that section and shit like that. Good battle though :) if you wanna just keep progressing up to the level 25 level cap go ahead, you'll be at the same place most of us are now (or will be soon)!

Just wondering is the level cap in place for the gym leaders so I have to be level 25 when I fight brawley or is it until everyone has battled

There's no minimum level requirement to fight the gym leaders, or players for that matter. The level cap is in place so players can't grind their Pokemon to level 100 before the 1st gym. It would take FOREVER but, without the cap, it would be possible.

Here's how I do it: I make my way through the story until the gym leader. If you don't over-train your Pokemon, you shouldn't be anywhere near the level cap by the time you make it to them. Once you've defeated the leader and all their gym trainers, you should be a little closer to the cap. While you're able to battle other players at this point, it would be wise to train your Pokemon up until they reach the maximum level for the current section, just to get that extra boost to your stats and maybe learn a few moves, you know?

In short, no, you don't have to be level 25 by the time you battle Brawly. You just can't be over level 25 when you're battling with us! :)

I'm free for battle until around 2pm and then I'll be free to battle again probably from 6pm until midnight.
I also should mention, I'm not a huge fan of using Legendary pokemon for battling, so if you guys choose not to use Legendary pokemon, that is a-ok with me.

Living Arrow June 27th, 2016 12:03 PM

So I just got the Knuckle Badge!

I'm now switching out my Beautifly for my Abra and I'm ready to start accepting challenges for this section :)

Mister Coffee June 27th, 2016 12:12 PM

So, I haven't fought everybody... are we allowed to move on even if we have not fought everybody?
