Alright, I've come back to eat some humble pie.
I should have looked into this a bit more before forming an opinion. Having done a bit more research now, I'm somewhat coming around in the other direction. At the very least, I wouldn't go so far as to call it cheating. Some of you made some good points that I spent time looking into. Foremost, I feel stupid that I didn't even realize HOW BROKEN the three step radar is right now. It's not even showing the correct Pokemon in your general area half the time for most people. So not only can you not triangulate a Pokemon's position, you really can't even rely on it for what's nearby. =( I do feel like it takes away from the exploration element of the game. I'm hesitant to use it on an outing because, well, I just want to go out and explore and have fun and talk more with the people around me who are playing rather than rely on an app for information. But that's just me. I won't call it (or you) a cheater. Use it to make the game more enjoyable for you, however that is. I may even use it while at home sometimes now that I know I can't even rely on my radar to tell me what's nearby so I can go check my nearby spawn points. |
