AstroTenor, go to www.pgoiv.com - play around with it first. You'll get an idea what IV is all about.

Perfect 100% iv eevee is rare. It has rate 0 lowest to 15 highest of Attack, Defense, and HP. 100% is 15/15/15. Like what xShibbyx said, 85% and up is good. "IV" stand for Individual Value, hidden stats.

AstroTenor September 6th, 2016 9:48 AM

Thanks Pokemon86. Cool site. Look what I found:

poke genie - auto iv calculator for pokemon go

Direct from the screen shot and very similar to pgoiv. Now this is REALLY fun! No more random power ups and evolutions for me.
THANKS ALL!!!

Question about dragon-types...

What's the best alternative (or should I say most effective) non-dragon-type pokemon should I use against the likes of the Dragonites, Gyarados, and Lapras pokemon?

My guess would be Vaporeon on Dragonites and Flareon/Magmar/Vaporeon against Gyarados/Lapras.

(I'm level 24 and I don't have any dragon-types to combat other dragon-types. I did find a Snorlax in the wild, but its CP is 924)

Against Dragonite, Clefable with Moonblast or Lapras.
Gyarados and Lapras aren't Dragon Types, but are water types. Use your best electric types against them. Raichu is good for offense, or Magneton for Defense.

Ok so I'm In for the long run. With that being said I started late with pokemon go. I'm at lvl 16 and I want to know from the lvl 25+ should I save all my candies for 25+ when I have 500cp+ base pokemon to evolve and then go have fun at gyms since everyone else will be slowing down lvling and I'm all caught up? I'm getting 400+ evee consistent now. And I want a jolteon bad. But not if next week I'll be catching 800+ evee

JigglyMama September 7th, 2016 2:02 PM

App crashes

There are good and bad days but today my game is unplayable... What is with the game crashing every time I try to complete and action? Recently it just crashes when I open gyms, haven't gotten into a gym in weeks. Now today I can't do anything. It's getting old. I've tried all the install uninstall crap. When will they address this? Is there an official forum where they answer customers questions? I've emailed support on July 16 and have not received a reply yet. Getting kinda mad over here... Any ideas? I have made in game purchases, I wish they ha led customer service.

Phoenixstarz September 7th, 2016 3:20 PM

im not convinced with Raichu, its HP is too low to survive for too long, try using a Machamp against Lapras especially if you can get one with Karate Chop and Cross Chop

VisualJae September 7th, 2016 5:03 PM

Lapras with Frost Breath + Blizzard a great option. Old Gyarados with Dragon Breath + Dragon Pulse (no longer obtainable) an alternative. Vaporeon doesn't learn Ice attacks and is ineffective against Dragonite.

Raichu is a piece of paper. Exeggutor a strong option against Gyarados. Lapras is very strong. Best option previously was Rock Throw Omastar, but that's no longer obtainable.

Or just get your own Dragonite. Seriously.

tjumper78 September 8th, 2016 7:02 AM

been using a slowbro a lot. its currently maxed out at 2104 cp with 143 hp, it regularly beats dragonites in 2000~2400 cp. yesterday, i beat a 2500 cp dragonite with it. its very good against lapras and exeggutors too.

blahhdude September 8th, 2016 7:15 AM

Thanks for the responses!

I would like a Dragonite... Just no dratinis around me.

I haven't fought a Dragonite yet, but I think I'll keep throwing pokemon at it until it dies.

I've been using Vileplume (Solar Beam) and Clefable (Moonblast) against Lapras and Gyarados.

My Slowbro has bad IVs and has the moveset Confusion and Ice Beam...

Error?

I keep getting the red thing at the top that says "Error" I have 4g/wifi, in fact I noticed it whist on wifi and also have gps signal, it only appears as I click on a pokemon I encounter then I get the errror message and the pokemon disapears. Anyone else having this problem?

Neltharion83 September 8th, 2016 1:05 PM

Pokemon spawn for 30 minutes and then despawn, and later something else spawns.

Under lure models, pokemon spawn for only 5 minutes, then they despawn and the next pokemon spawns.

You get the "error" thing when you manage to click a pokemon that is not supposed to be there because it already despawned. I guess its a symptom of server instability.

It happened over and over again with Pokemon that have just spawned in

Oh. That sucks.

Speculating..... I see two possible reason, maybe the time of your phone was set wrong so that there was a big time difference between the clock in your phone and the server time. Or the servers were unstable and messed up.

Keep all the candy for all the rare pokemon.

But with the common pokemon, you just keep getting the candy, you will evolve many of them over time, and one of the absolute best way to get XP and to level up is to save up 60 evolutions, and to then use a lucky egg to do 60 evolutions in 30 minutes. That is 60000 experience, even more if new pokedex entries are added. So there will be much stuff that you will be evolving just for the XP and send it away afterwards.

Also make sure to use the appraisal feature to check if you get any 100% IV pokemon, these are so rare that they are worth keeping even if they are low level. You can evolve these even if they are small, because if they get a good moveset, it may be worth it to later use stardust to power them up all the way.

I agree, though with the caveat of: remember that a Pokemon with the best possible moveset is better than a Pokemon with the best possible IVs, all other things being equal.

Garfield1972 September 9th, 2016 11:56 PM

I had that 2 weeks ago and then my game went right back to the beginning. I was so upset everything gone including my pikachu .after panicking for a while it just suddenly sorted itself! Very very odd.

True, but by "better" I meant in practicality. In an ideal world you would have both, but if you can't manage to get both, strong damage per second moves will turn the tide of battle more than a fraction of a percent stronger stats. You feel me?

Questions about iv

Hi everyone. I have a questions about iv. Does the Max Cp of the pokemon evolve to depends on the base cp too and not the iv? I was googling up about it and these few videos shows that a higher base cp will tend to be higher after evolving. So I'm guessing IV doesn't really play a part then?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmapkCKdmrs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nymsOYsmdaE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUPVmF31Uog

VisualJae September 11th, 2016 1:27 AM

IVs are factored into CP already.

E.g. you'll never get a CP3500 Dragonite if yours doesn't have 100% perfect IVs.

Every Pokémon has different base stats.

CP is (Attack * Defense0.5 * Stamina0.5 / 10) rounded down.

Where:
Attack = (BaseAttack + AttackIV) * TotalCpMultiplier
Defense = (BaseDefense + DefenseIV) * TotalCpMultiplier
Stamina = (BaseStamina + StaminaIV) * TotalCpMultiplier

TotalCpMultiplier varies per Pokémon level.

E.g. you'll never get a CP3000 Alakazam due to base stats (specifically caps at CP1813 at level 40 with perfect IVs).

CP upon evolution determined based on the Pokémon's level (read: Pokémon's level, not player's level). A level 20 Magikarp (CP150 with perfect IVs) will evolve into a level 20 Gyarados (CP1536 Gyarados with perfect IVs). No more, no less.

There is no mystery here.

Neltharion83 September 11th, 2016 4:35 AM

Pokemon have a level (which can be increased by 0.5 by powering it up until you reach your trainer level + 1.5) and they have IVs. The IVs cannot be changed in any way.

So if you are, lets say, level 25, and you have 10 Snorlax, and you power them all up until the power up button turns grey, which means they are now all exactly level 26.5, the one with the highest IVs will have the best values.

Evolving does not change the pokemon level or the IVs.

The best pokemon have the best IVs combined with a good moveset. If the pokemon is weak because the level is low, that is something you can fix with candy and stardust by powering it up. Bad IVs and bad movesets cannot be fixed.

theunreal September 11th, 2016 5:37 AM

This is combined by both. just use iv calculator and calculate your pokemon new cp, the higher the IV, the more potential to reach higher amount of CP.

its called cheating

Jordy19 September 12th, 2016 3:35 AM

You aren't the only person playing this game, the ticket service is having a hard time dealing with all the reports and people who used cheats such as the one you used without knowing the risks. It might take some weeks, if you haven't received a message back within 3 weeks then I would suggest you to send another message.

Good luck with getting your account back. I'm sure you learned your lesson with cheating.

Phoenixstarz September 12th, 2016 3:55 AM

This guy is joking right?
It was always pretty clear that GPS spoofing was going to be against the rules.
If you can make a new account and actually the rules this time, you can still have plenty of fun doing things the hard way and actually walking out in the real world

VisualJae September 12th, 2016 4:45 AM

Straight up cheated. The account's done.

Start a new account and play it the right way or don't play at all.

There is no way you are getting it back because you cheated. A lot. As a matter of principle such an account should never be unbanned.

As a general rule, if you get an unfair advantage over other players, you should suspect cheating. If you need third party hacks to hack the game in order to get the unfair advantage, its cheating for sure.

Its basically the same for all games.

EDIT: And your tickets robarbly are being actively ignored. They read them, they delete them.

Sorry buddy, but as a rule of thumb, "ignorance of the law is no excuse." And yes, using fake coordinates is listed as prohibited. https://support.pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/221993967 + https://www.nianticlabs.com/terms/pokemongo/en

You may be able to make a brand new PokeGo account, but that is tricky since you can only use Pokemon Trainer Club accounts (which I know nothing about) or Google Plus account (and I have read that it is against Google’s terms of service to have more than one personal account).

I told Pidgeycalc I have 89 pidgey candies
and it outputs directions: evolve 8 pidgeys
and evolution costs 12 each
and Pidgeycalc is... a CALCUlator. what am i missing here

Similarly, its directions read "evolve 3 Rattata" when I told it I only have 73 Candy.

You don't get candy for evolving, do you? That seems backwards, since it costs candy to do it.

you get 1 candy extra every time you do an evolution so that calculation is correct

Take as many gyms as you can quickly then cash out (shield icon in shop) each gym you have a Pokemon in is worth 10 coins.

How long do you need to leave a pokemon there? Can I leave one at more than one gym?

Phoenixstarz September 19th, 2016 3:19 PM

When you leave a Pokemon at a gym it stays there until it gets kicked out. During that time you can't use it until it's returned to you when it gets defeated by a rival team. You can claim your coins from gyms every 21 hours so if your Pokemon doesn't get defeated in that time then you can claim your coins again then

No it's not, it's a good thing the guy got banned, he cheated got caught out and quite rightly got banned. The best thing he could do is start again and play within the rules. If he does get his account back then he will still have benefitted from his cheating and would show that cheating pays off.

I think the bigger question is whether you think he deserves to be unbanned and get his account back despite blatantly cheating, he doesn't even seem sorry that he cheated. He is blaming his cheating on others. There is no way he should be unbanned and I am very glad that niantic banned him because hopefully the more people like that get banned sends a clear message to other cheaters that if they cheat there will be consequences.

If it's a Google account, the credentials should be saved and all you have to do is accept the Google permissions. If it's a PTC account and you forgot the game, you should go to the Pokémon site and retrieve the info that way. Otherwise just log into whichever ones you have until you find the right one.

when can we change our PTC account email?

Arjay September 27th, 2016 4:17 AM

Can you lose candies?

Say you transfer a Pokémon and it's the only one you have. Would you lose any candies for that Pokémon? Does it reset to 0 once you don't own any of that particular Pokémon? And do you get a candy for transferring the last of a particular Pokémon?

I.e. You have one Rhyhorn and 30 Rhyhorn candies. You transfer the Rhyhorn and then catch another one. How many candies would you have?

I realise that sounds like a question you'd get in maths homework or something {XD} but I'm just curious.

VisualJae September 27th, 2016 6:59 AM

You don't lose candies unless you spend them.

You get 3x candies for any Pokémon you catch. You get 1x additional candy of that type should you transfer that Pokémon. You get a range of candies for any Pokémon you hatch.

In your Rhyhorn scenario, you'd have 34 Rhyhorn candies in the end.

30 to start. +1 when you transfer the first Rhyhorn. +3 when you catch the second Rhyhorn.

Last night while on a bus heading home, I caught two PKMN (a Pidgey and an Oddish) and then another wild PKMN showed up on the map. As I tapped the 'mon, the UI disappeared, preparing the wild battle screen. But my screen instead showed an "Oh?" message. My 5km Egg was finally hatching.

But nothing's happening. The screen was stuck on that "Oh?" message and the normal map music was still playing, but I couldn't click anything.

So I waited it out. Almost 5 minutes flew by and I became impatient so I closed the app and ran it again.

I checked my PKMN list and sorted it to recent, but my two newly-caught 'mon plus whoever it was that hatched wasn't there.

I checked my journal and there they are: the two 'mons and a newly-hatched Growlithe. But again, they're not in my PKMN bag.

Has anyone encountered this before? What did you do?

I tried clearing the cache, force-closing the app through the Settings (I'm an Android phone user), but they're not showing up.

I also didn't get the Growlithe candy from hatching a Growlithe. :(

Just a general question, but curious. Has Pokemon Go been released and made available to all countries worldwide? Only curious, because I believe Niantic have stated that they do not intend to hold legendary events until the app has been released worldwide.

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday, minus the egg. I caught two or three pokemon (thankfully nothing mind-blowing) but a minute or so later there was some sort of error. I quit and restarted the app and went to my recent pokemon, but they weren't there. I'm not sure if I got the stardust, candy, or XP, but it was really weird.

I think its now live for all nations where they planned on releasing it.

This leaves out the nations where they will never release it, like for example China.

The gen 1 legendarys as well as the entire generation 2 are long overdue, pokemon go is losing many players because the active players are running out of content, they get bored and stop playing. There are articles about how many tens of millions of players they already lost.

So if they make the gen 1 legendaries dependent on anything that they cannot archieve IMMEDIATELY, recognizing that the gen 1 legendaries are somewhat of an requirement for releasing gen 2, would hurt the company. Basically any further delay hurts them badly at this point.

So maybe this isn't the simplest of questions but I've been curious about it. I play Pokemon go but the only person I've played with is a buddy of mine and we've always been within 2-3 levels from eachother. When were together all the same Pokemon pop up on both our phones, but I'm curious to know what would happen if I were to walk around with a very low level player. I'm level 25 as of now, so would pokes with CPs of 1000+ be popping up on a level 5 trainers screen if we were walking around together? Would the game inhibit my chance to catch rare and powerful Pokemon or would it give a new player the chance to potentially catch them?

The same pokemon spawn for everyone, the exceptions are incense and eggs.

Those pokemon even have the same IV values and size (in terms of weight / XL / XS), but the level varies based on your trainer level. It cannot have a higher level than your trainer level.

So a level 1 player can catch a dragonite, but it will have a very low level and very low CP.

Neltharion83 October 2nd, 2016 4:11 PM

I have a question, and maybe it is not simple, maybe it needs its own thread.

I know how strengths and weaknesses work for single-type pokemon and that its a really powerful mechanic when it comes to taking down arenas.

How does it work with double type pokemon? Many have two types, like grass/psycho, grass/poison, Ice/Water.

How is it calculated, and does it depend on the specific attacks/moves you face or does it just depend on pokemon type?

To use an example, use the amazing vileplume i just caught. It is a grass/poison type, its attacks are acid (poison) and solar beam (grass). How good will it work as an attacker against what, and does that affect only acid or only solar beam in some cases?

I understand that. I'm saying that when you're a low level trainer you don't come across high CP/evolved/rare Pokemon. At level 25 I get all kinds of Pokemon I never saw at lower levels. If a low level trainer walked with me would the same high CP Pokemon that spawn for me be available for them to catch? Or would it just be the same Pokemon with a lower CP than the one that spawns in my game?

In the case of double types, you then have to look at the type effectiveness of the move being used AGAINST your pokemon to determine the resistivity. When looking at the effectiveness of your pokemon against an opposing one, you have to consider the type of the MOVE vs. the type of the opposing pokemon.

In your Vileplume example, a fire attack, which is probably the most common super effective type used against grass, would remain super effective against Vileplume because it is neither super effective nor ineffective against poison, so the poison typing wouldn't affect it. However, let's say you're going up against a pokemon with Earthquake (ground). Ground is usually not very effective against grass, but because ground moves are super effective against poison types, Earthquake would have a "normal" effectiveness against Vileplume (super effective against the grass part and not very effective against the poison part of Vileplume).

So in essence, you look at the effectiveness against of each of Vileplume's types and both effects will stack on top of each other, either emphasizing an effect or neutralizing the effect. You can use such a logic with any typing combination. I hope that clarifies it!

Neltharion83 is correct. If you both encounter the same Dragonite. Yours can be a much higher CP because you can encounter, I believe, pokemon that have levels up to one level above yours. So your Dragonite might be a CP of 2000 because you're a higher level while theirs may be a CP of 200 because of their low level. Or maybe you get unlucky and you both encounter the Dragonite with a CP of 200, you're not guaranteed to see high CP pokemon when you're higher level. I'm level 27 and I still see pokemon with a CP of 10.

Weaselnamedfee2 October 3rd, 2016 5:28 AM

I get low CP Pokemon too at level 25, but the whole random spawn concept doesn't seem accurate. Coming across a Pokemon while with a low level player and their Pokemon having a lower CP makes sense, but what about evolved/rare Pokemon? It's extremely obvious that in the game as you level up more rare Pokemon spawn near you. My question is that if I'm with low level players would my high level inhibit my ability to find rare/evolved Pokemon or could it increase the chances of them finding a Pokemon they typically wouldn't see given their level?

This is disproven by observation. Anyone who plays with friends knows that you are mistaken.

Also, the account i use with pokemesh is level 1, and that level 1 account sees exactly the same pokemon that i see with my lvl27 account.

Just yesterday i caught a Vileplume with two friends, we were level 26, 27 and 31.

All 3 vileplumes had different level and different CP, but they all had IVs of 15/03/13 and the acid/solar beam moveset. pokemesh did see the same vileplume with level 1 accounts, and fastpokemap did also see the same vileplume.

Really, play with friends and observe the truth. The question itself implies that you only ever play alone.

Weaselnamedfee2 October 12th, 2016 2:13 PM

Nobody really seems to understand what I'm getting at here. When I was low level I very rarely came across evolved forms of Pokemon. Now at level 25 I see them everywhere. Here's an example: At low levels walking around in places where there was certainly no one else playing I did not encounter Pokemon that I do now in the same places at a much higher level. How do people not see this? I get that if you're walking around with friends the same Pokemon will pop up with different CPs and all that, but to suggest I would have bumped into the Charizard at level 1 (with nobody else around me playing) as I did at level 25 is just silly. Baffles me how people think the spawn system is completely and utterly randomized.

VisualJae October 13th, 2016 3:47 AM

^Your level does not matter. Absolutely, 100%, does not affect the species of Pokémon you encounter in the wild. Rare spawns can appear randomly anywhere. By your logic, just because you don't see anyone playing and you encounter a wild Charizard spawn doesn't mean some random level 5 player can't come along 3 minutes later and trigger the same Charizard spawn. How would you explain that for that player then?

I encountered my first wild Pidgeot in my bedroom on the first day of playing. One of my best friends' first Pokémon caught (besides the starter) was a wild Nidoqueen on his front porch, minutes after he created his account. I encountered my first wild Venusaur and Golem on my Mystic account when I was still in the teens for level. It's level 31 now and I've only encountered two more wild Venusaur since. My brother caught a wild Dragonite by the time he was level 10. My Valor account has a CP143 Dragonite that I caught before reaching level 10. It's level 18 now and I haven't encountered another one since. Please explain.

No need. This is all anecdotal, including your own experiences. But nothing in the game's code shows any evidence of Pokémon species spawns being influenced by a player's level and, from a developer's standpoint, is too much of a hassle to both set up and implement on a player to player basis across the world. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

FYI the spawn rates of rare and evolved Pokémon have increased in one of the more recent ninja updates, akin to nest migration updates.

51Nisa October 13th, 2016 4:15 AM

I wish I could see some of these other evolved pokemon. All I have seen for days now is Weedle, pidgey, rats, caterpie. There is 7 pokestops within a 2 mile walk of my home and for some days now that is all that is appearing, nothing else showing on the sightings list either and it doesnt matter what time you go out, only chance this week of getting anything different is an egg hatch. On my sightings list righ now is 3 pokemon a pidgey a rat and a weedle.its getting a bit boring now nothing to entice you to go and look. Oh and I am on level 22 !!

ichiDad October 20th, 2016 12:50 PM

Evolved pokemon can be very difficult to catch, so I often ignore them (if I already have them). Today I came across a 1452 CP Pidgeot! What a pain, I can't waste all my Ultra Balls on this. But it was a higher CP than any Pidgeot I have, so I decided to give it one razberry and one throw. I caught it! "Your Pidgeot is not likely to make much headway in battle". Oh well ...

When I was level 5 or so a bunch of us came across a Rapidash! Pokeballs were flying thick and fast at the beast. I think only one person caught it and we all lost most of our pokeballs.

MizEileen October 20th, 2016 2:12 PM

51Nisa, please don't talk down the Ratattas, Pidgeys, Caterpie, and Weedles. They bring in candy. They bring in star dust. If you horde them and their candy and have a Lucky Egg... 2km eggs yield prime specimens of these. With enough candy, their evolved forms look pretty formidable.

ichDad you give me hope. I have the 1000 CP Rattata project on the back burner, but you make me believe it might be possible.

And ichDad, I've had my share of ammo thefts andPokeBall wastes trying to catch difficult critters. It's only ammo. There will be more. I'm not sure what the Appraiser did wrong with a 1452 Pidgeot. I have a 1075 point evolved specimen. I've never sent her to the appraiser. It could be what they call low IV. I think it would be wonderful to see more common creatures do their stuff in gyms. I can dream.

And Weaselnamefeedme2, I think you're right. I see a lot more Raticates and Venonats, not rare creatures per see but a step up, and there are also days I am wearing Poke Repellent, but when the Pokes are running they seem to be a bit fancier.

Jonathan1990 October 20th, 2016 2:45 PM

An Oddish I got just hatched from a 5km egg a few minutes ago with 535CP. How much CP would it get once evolving to a Vileplume? I currently have 88 candies. Vaporeon is the strongest now with 1152CP and it might overtake that.

ichiDad October 20th, 2016 2:56 PM

Mystic: "Overall, your Pokemon is not likely to make much headway in battle"
Valor: "Overall, your Pokemon may not be great in battle, but I still like it!"
Instinct: "Overall, your Pokemon has room for improvement as far as battling goes."

All of these mean IV's are under 50%, which kind of the kiss of death for a pokemon. BUT, I have only one Snorlax over 1000 CP, in fact he's over 2000 CP! He is given the "kiss of death". But I keep his secret, I don't let anyone else know that. He's still a good gym defender.

Yes. Hatched Pokémon are capped at level 20, much like wild Pokémon are capped at level 30.

Afterglow Ampharos October 30th, 2016 8:36 PM

I heard hearsay that this may be true, and I've seen what, in the game, might indicate it is. Could be confirmation bias though.

A) You throw a ball and it hits the Pokemon but hits outside the shrinking ring. The ring is large at the time.
B) You throw a ball and it hits the Pokemon but hits outside the shrinking ring. The ring is tiny at the time.

I have heard hearsay that B makes capture more likely than A. True? False?

Your goal should ALWAYS be to throw the ball when the capture ring is at the smallest. That is the single biggest factor in increasing the multiplier for your catch rate.

51Nisa October 31st, 2016 12:19 PM

Personally I have not experienced which is best at all. For instance today trying to catch a Gastly
1) First ball Great Ball with a Razz Berry smack in the middle of orange circle and with Great Throw, it broke free.

2) Second Ball Great Ball again with a Razz smack in the middle once again with Great Throw, it broke free.

3) Third Ball this time Ultra Ball again with a Razz in the middle of the small circle and with an Excellent Throw, it broke free.

4) it poofed off.

I experience this a great deal and waste of 3 good poke balls and Razz Berries. To me it doesn't seem to matter if the poke ball is in the small or large circle. On the above attempts it should have been caught first attempt. I think its a ploy to empty your bag quicker in a hope you will buy more balls. If you are in a location as I am with only a few Poke stops within a walking distance this makes the game very frustrating.

I now if a Pokemon breaks free the first time I walk away from it due to the lack of poke stops to refill up easily. Probably only once a week I can be a passenger either in a car or on a bus to refill up, otherwise I am the one driving.

MizEileen October 31st, 2016 12:37 PM

Ammo fights happen. They happen more if I'm tired. I've had them with Growlithes, one Scyther, a Hypno, and more Vennonats and Gastlies than I can count. I blame myself for being a bad shot. I have poor fusion and zero depth perception. Just keep walking you buddy and hatching your eggs. Don't buy anything.

For what it is worth, with Gastlies it is good to use a relatively flat pitch starting out a bit higher, but of course I'm still an awful shot.

Um, thanks, but wording your answer that way sneakily sidesteps my question. Could you please clarify? I as asking along the lines of: do you get some kind of multiplier for a small circle even if you missed the circle?

P.S. I kinda disagree -- in my experience, timing throws for small circles is less important than timing throws right after a Pokemon has finished an animation. See, timing throws for small circles often has the Pokemon block your shot, or jump over it. tl;dr, Aiming for a great multiplier is moot if the Pokemon dodges.

It's black and white. It's hard-coded in the game that the smaller the capture ring, the higher the success rate. That's just how the game works at a fundamental level.

Hitting the Pokémon inside the capture ring only nets you the capture bonus (Nice, Great, Excellent). Your priority is the size of the ring, first and foremost, every time. Again, that's just how the game is programmed. People have already mined the data for this.

Is Farfetch'd really available in "Asia"? Or "within Asia"? The only reported case so far where it was caught were Japan and South Korea.

Last time I checked, my home country, the Philippines is still part of Asia. None of the PH players I know thinks that the PH pokedex is 142 but 141 excluding Farfetch'd.

How does other Regional pokemon spawn location works? Especially Mr. Mime if it spawn all over Europe or only selected parts of Europe?

Capture bonus generally refers to the experience you gain from "skill shots." Capture rate is the rate of success of capturing a Pokémon (the probability/chance).

Not sure about the Philippines, but I have family and friends in parts of Asia reporting Farfetch'd sightings in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan. I caught my Mr. Mime when I visited France. I have friends who caught their Mimes in Ireland, England, Scotland, Spain, and Germany.

Quite a lot of Asian countries so it must really be available. Thanks for the info.

Yes, a Pokémon's CP cap is always your level +1.5 until level 40.

Also you may have noticed that after level 30, a Pokémon will only gain half the CP from a normal powerup (e.g. a Dragonite will gain on average 44-50 CP per powerup until level 30, after which it will only gain about 22-25 CP per powerup).

We don't talk about cheating here. If you want to risk your account through cheating, you best keep it to yourself.

That's an honest warning.

And on a more personal level, I am strongly against it. This is coming from someone who did travel overseas and caught exclusives the right way.

Movesets are re-rolled upon evolution. Randomly.
So your chances are 1/6.

There seems to be a new freezing glitch. It started recently. When I click my avatar in the left hand corner the entire screen freezes. If I click the box and erase the catch then openthe ap a window will pop up saying pokemon go isn't responding would you like to close it. The only way to unfreeze it is to restart the phone entirely. It used to sometimes freeze on the ball catching animation but never when clicking on my avatar n the corner.

I don't know if this was asked about yet or not already, but does anyone have any issues with spoofers in their towns? Every once in awhile, this team of Instinct-ers come about and put themselves into gyms (even when no one is around, trust me, my BFF and I experienced it when we were the ONLY ones near a gym).
It's ridiculous and not fair. I just am wondering if anyone else ever had an experience with a spoofer?

My BFF has been having issues as well! Anytime we are getting Poke Stops, she gets the white spinning Pokeball in the corner and it freezes up her game. We are still wondering why this happens to her. :\

I get the white spinning pokestop a lot too, usually that happens if the game is closed for awhile then I open it again by a pokestop, there will tend to be "ghost" Pokémon as well, aka Pokémon that spawned previously, stayed for the 10 minute spawntime then despawned but left behind a empty shell of themselves and if you click on it they tend to disappear and you get an error message. Sometimes a new Pokémon will spawn in the same spot so you have mutant Weedlenat's and Pidgetta's. Or 2 headed Weedle's.

I've also had pokestops where I spin them and they stay blue and don't give any items, but if I shut off the game and reload it they are now purple and the items are in my inventory. If I don't shut my phone off I can still collect the next pokestop fine but the one that stayed blue never gives those items.

There has been countless freezing glitches with the game since I got it in July, but this new glitch just started recently. Like a week ago. And it's definitely the most annoying.

I've also gotten that a lot too suddenly (clicking avatar icon freezes the game). First time I got it was after taking over a gym, a rare event for me. =( I presume it's a glitch introduced by the newest update, so hopefully the next one fixes it.
