Getting ready for that sweet Alolan Dodrio. Three heads hype!

Mawa October 18th, 2016 1:17 PM

I don't like the alolan Golem, I think the original is better.

I prefer the original persian but I like the Garfield head of the alola one XD

Dugtrio is so funny I do like it (I already liked Dugtrio so........).

But the best is Marowak <3 It is my favorite Pokemon so it is obviously this one I like the most, but it will totally be in my team!

Thunderflare October 18th, 2016 1:38 PM

Thanks to dataminers we know the last few Alolan Pokemon to be revealed.

Spoiler:
Persian, Diglet, Dugtrio, Geodude, Graveler, and Golem.

I suppose Diglet and Dugtrio may be Rock types. Geodude and company look like Rock/Dark types.

Alolan Persian needs to lay off the Purina.

I think that's the last of the Alolan forms. We've known for a while that its only been Kanto Pokemon, and I think we've accounted for all of them by now.

Dter ic October 18th, 2016 1:52 PM

Would like to see what wacky explanation the Pokemon site will give for Alolan dugtrio's hair lol.
Don't have much of an opinion on the new leaked Pokemon, Marowak is the best out of them all tbh.

Spoiler:
Worst one by far has to be Alolan Persian like, how the hell did it develop a round face :( Alolan pancakes again? Damn

I'm kind of mixed on the Alolan forms. On one hand some of the Pokémon they chose I feel are kind of boring now so they needed something new to make them interesting again. *cough*Ninetales isn't one of these Pokémon *cough*cough*.

On the other hand these Pokémon are so boring and to be honest with Pokémon Go I'm now sick of Rattata that I would have been fine with them being left out entirely.

Interms of the designs, some are really cool like Vulpix and Ninetales, maybe that's why Gamefreak revealed them first *cough*....

But others feel like wasted time, like Dugtrio has long hair because they thought lots of surfer guys in Hawaii have long hair? Or because they wanted girl versions of Dugtrio? Or because they thought it would become a meme like Exeggcutor? I'd almost rather have well thought out Alolan forms of better and more liked Pokemon, then joke ones. imo a lot of these are jokes..

Personally, I think Alolan diglet/dugtrio are ground/grass. Have you seen that little leaf thing of the diglet sprite?

Florges October 18th, 2016 7:12 PM

I think Alolan Dugtrio is the most hilarious thing ever. I love it!

As for everything else...

Spoiler:
WHY DOES GAME FREAK HATE CATS THIS GEN?!

thedestinedblade October 18th, 2016 7:47 PM

Damn, they definitely saved the worst for last with these Alolan forms. {XD} I would have loved to have seen what happened during the creative meeting for Alola Dugtrio.

Something that will keep me sleepless at night for many years to come is this: why give Alolan Dugtrio hair? They're whack-a-moles. Why is it humorous to give them hair? If they wanted to portray Dugtrio as an avid surfer, why not go all the way and have Alolan Dugtrio also be on a surfboard? I feel that would have been more humorous, because then it's like, "Dugtrio, what are you doing? How are you on that surfboard, bro?" But as it stands, it's just Dugtrio, coming out of the ground, with hair. Are there actually people underneath the surface--have my nightmares finally become a reality?

Wouldn't it have been more sensible--and more humorous--to give, say, the Machop line luscious locks instead? Brawly is a Fighting-Type specialist surfer. It's not like Fighting-Types can't be one with the waves.

I have to agree. Giving the Machop line the hair instead would also balance the imbalance between trade evolution pokemon which for some reason, they only made 1 line of. I would think they would have balanced it to a point where when you trade a trade evolution pokemon, you could get a trade evolution pokemon back.

Even though Dataminers tore apart the demo, it is possible for some Alolans not to be unlocked until after the main game. Especially if we get another island.

So they basically pumped out the absolute best of the Alola forms saving the worst designs until the end haha. To be honest, I'm kinda glad I got to see these forms before being officially announced. Idk, both Diglett and Dugtrio are barely different to their original form which irks me the most.

Alolan Dugtrio origin explanation: Volcano hair.

That's actually legit explanation to put on a wig. So these Dugtrios most likely inhabit near volcanoes all day? 4x weakness to water is a no go though. : l

It's not a wig, it's an accumulation of golden strands called Pele’s Hair.

Apparently they're actually quite sharp, since they're volcanic glass fibers.

I wonder if this means Alolan Geodude line loses its Ground typing and stay pure Rock? That would not be bad since it means no more 4x weaknesses.

Who thinks Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio might become Ground/Fire based on this?

blue October 22nd, 2016 5:20 AM

That thing does not deserve to share the same typing as Primal Groudon. It's kinda hard to say what Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio will turn into just based on the appearance. I'm thinking maybe Rock/Ground?

Not just Groudon's Primal, but the Numel line as well.

I do think Alola Diglett and Dugtrio will keep their Ground typing, but Rock/Ground is what I consider a very bad typing since they already have awful defenses and HP and adding more weaknesses would be terrible.

I knew that only Kanto Pokemon were going to get Alolan Forms.

Pinkie-Dawn November 7th, 2016 4:22 PM

Here's an interesting piece of info I found in regards to where the idea of Alola forms come from:

Quote:

"We do always listen to our fans and their hopes and what they have to say about the game because it's really important. but if we just take their ideas and bung them into the game then that's not going to be very surprising for players, because they'll have already thought of those ideas. What we really try and do is listen to those ideas, but then take that and think, 'How can we use this to surprise players? How can we give them something new that they perhaps haven't thought of?' This time around, as an example, we've got the Alola forms. A lot of these are Pokémon from the Kanto region that people are really familiar with, but now we get to see this new form, these new evolutions, and by doing this we're able to provide them with a surprise that they never even thought was possible." — Junichi Masuda
https://www.gamnesia.com/news/game-freak-says-they-listen-to-pokemon-fans-feedback-and-improve-on-the-ide

It turns out Alola forms originally came from the idea of fans, but they changed things in order to surprise them.
