Lets whine about GO. (Rant thread)

Hello guys.
Let me start with the new update, avatar customization, really? That is priority for the game since the last update my avatar is not moving, gps is totally broken, minor text fixes dude come on servers can't hold ten players without crashing. I just feel i have to whine somewhere or i'll go mad. How can someone make GPS based game with broken GPS system, and to make thing even worse they are aware of that problem and they are not fixing it. I feel like with each update game gets more broken. Oh yes one more thing, I hate zubats.

TheSeattle206 August 4th, 2016 3:42 PM

an 89 weedle should NOT break out of a great ball with one shake. after a razzberry. period.

Squirrel August 4th, 2016 5:16 PM

I think a lot of people here need this thread right now haha.

My complaint will be about the rural vs city split! I don't understand why it's ok for city players to have infinite Pokéballs, access to countless lures and gyms AND tons more Pokémon than rural players without any kind of compensation at all? It's just so ugh, terrible design. I don't get how they couldn't have thought about this when making the game and designing the mechanics. Why is it fair that it's basically turned into a P2P game for rural players with how many balls we're needing recently and yet the F2P city players get significantly more bonuses despite that? I'm ok with 90% of the stuff being complained about recently but this one thing really ticks me off.

magicalgirlj August 4th, 2016 6:29 PM

I am sick and tired of only finding Pidgey's and Rattat's.

CoalCraft August 5th, 2016 12:57 AM

I'm still enjoying the game just as much as when it first came out, so now whining from me.

It seems to me they rushed game release just to grab as much money as they could, it feels like they dont care much for players as much as they care for the money they provide. Game idea is good but this is basiclly alpha version of the game which they didn't really specify. As much as i whine about game i still enjoy playing it. So i guess niantic employees are incompetent or simply doesn't care.

A bit harsh lol
They were definately unprepared and I don't think they had the experience to do this, would be interesting to know why they picked the playtesters that they did and what experience those guys had. Alpha testing isn't just you get to play a game early you should be playing to "break" the game to find anything people would exploit and generally requires a lot of essays about everything. Each Pokemon should have had a viable reason for using. I'm not saying they should all be balanced against each other but against the Pokemon of their rarity level, so common Pokemon should have max 1600 CP, uncommon should have max 1800 CP, Rare should have max 2100 CP and ultra rare should be max 2400 CP

I so totally agree. When this game first came out I was thinking Oh cool, I have a lake with a large wooded area behind my house, I should be able to get some cool pokemon. Then when I walked through the woods to the lake I was sooo disappointed that I didn't see a single pokemon until I got to the lake.
Im shocked that they didn't design it that way....its only along roads and by lakes and in the city. I have to say I was very disappointed, I still love the game concept and all but I really don't want to have to go to the city to compete.

Definately agree, especially as in one of their press releases they specifically said look for certain types of Pokemon where their real counterparts would be found, I'm near massive fields and woods but there's very few spawning points there. The problem is the game is built from data collected from ingress players so if there wasn't any ingress players in your part of town/village then niantic have no idea about your area, I would hope they start contacting very active players and see if they would help provide more information about their town to improve the game

I'm so glad I can finally recustomize my avatar, should I go with the Navy clear or Golden invisible backpack?

To match my avatar which has recently transformed into a dark spot inside expanding purple rings.

I guess it is kind of fun watching it fly over buildings and lakes however.

Oh and to the above poster is that why I found a Tentacool and a Seaking right next to each other inside a building miles and miles away from any water.

Zeekoslav August 7th, 2016 1:50 AM

Did they lowered the rate of pokemon spawning on lure modules of pokestops. Yesterday someone turned it on near me and it spawned one pokemon each 2-3 minutes, and i stoped earning expirenece for great, nice and excelent throws, i only earn 100xp for catch what's up with that? also feel like the catch rate and flee rate are higher then before or maybe it's coz i earned few levels.

This is my screenshots of rural Pennsylvania v.s. Dewy Beach Delaware , makes me want to just move to the beach. In comparison it's horrible at best....

I'm with Squirrel on this one, the urban, rural split just doesn't really seem fair. Not only do people in cities get way more items, they also get better Pokemon. I went up to my nearest city the other day and found several rare Pokemon for my Pokedex. Although admittedly there has been so rare Pokemon in my rural town, it wasn't on the scale and consistency of a city.

But I think the main problem here is the Pokestops, there is such a limited amount in my town that I was stuck at Level 15 for quite a while trying to conserve my Pokeballs, if I didn't go to the city then any progression would have been painfully slow.

Zeekoslav August 8th, 2016 5:59 AM

Any of you guys have problem with gps tracking distance, i feel like it doesn't count km like it should it counts way less then i walk, i go to work every day on foot sometimes i can hatch egg of 2kms in one trip but today it counted around 1km

StarBright August 8th, 2016 2:24 PM

Hi I'm level 23 and feel "is that it" right now. Mass whine sorry. It's a grind now. Rarely new pokemon, lots of Zubat, Pidgey, Caterpie and Weedles. I've got 2 Gyarados I've caught so many Carp. On my way for the 3rd and current high cp is 166. Also Carp shouldn't be able to run away either. Received a medal that I'm not sure I'm happy about advising that I've caught 2000 pokemon. You don't get allot of xp fighting at gyms and unlike before I don't seem to get allot of potion. Just wondering if this is it as it's getting boring.

Mawa August 9th, 2016 2:53 AM

I never whined about the game.... but the newest update with Pokemon at Pokestop, would this kill the game in rural regions like me who don't have one Pokestop??

1) That's in beta testing only in San Fran right now
2) It is in addition to Sightings, which seem to be Pokemon at nearby "grassy" spawn points. Nearby won't replace Sightings.

Geez
I had a totally full pokemon box and still http://www.pidgeycalc.com/ isn't satisfied

Level100Pichu August 9th, 2016 2:45 PM

Anyone else hating these changes?

TL;DR at bottom.
I am really hating this game right now. SO MUCH. I live in a town where we have 5 stops total, and 2 gyms. I am level 16, playing for 2 weeks or so now.
And I swear upon the stars, if I have another 10 CP Pidgey break out of a 'great throw'n Pokeball, I'm mailing Niantic a bag of my poo.

This new patch sucks eggs through a garden hose. I never get enough pokeballs to catch anything. As someone who works for a living, ie an adult, I don't have time to go to all 5 stops in my town 5 times a day to keep up with my expenditures. I literally have to weigh the pros and cons of each pokemon I encounter to see if it's worth trying to catch it. I got to hit 4 stops today twice, once coming and once going, and I got 8 pokeballs, 1 great ball, and the rest useless crap. I can't battle gyms, my best is a 1200 Vaporeon I evolved from a 458 Eevee, and that Eevee took me 7 great balls to catch. Two Razz Berries as well, because I was terrified it was going to run away. Meanwhile, the Pay-To-Win kids with their 9 Incubators have both gyms on lock, so now I'm even further behind. There is no way to win now, because I can't catch anything. It's very frustating, because my wife loves Pokemon as much as I do, but now we can't play because they lowered drop rates of catching implements besides Poke Balls and raised everything's break out rates. Sure, maybe it doesn't matter for the city kids, who can hit 3 stops from the dinner table from the bathroom, but for people who live in smaller, or more rural areas, like me, it's just kicking us while we're down. And the younger ones who have school as opposed to work can find much more time to get all the Poke-Balls they need, and have friends to do it with. Chill at a stop and do homework doesn't sound too bad. I can't do my laundry at a stop. I can't prep dinner at a stop. There seriously needs to be a balance in place for adults who want to play the game and stay relevant.

TL;DR: I hate Niantic because Niantic hated me first for not living in a city.

Phoenixstarz August 9th, 2016 11:02 PM

I get that you are frustrated and your village has even less stops than the villages near me but the best thing I can recommend is look at the long game with this. A lot of the kids are only playing now because it's currently cool, a month or 2 down the line they won't be as active and won't be interested in spending a lot of money on egg incubators. I've seen players using 2+ incenses a night and have loads of incubators on the go at all time. They might get ahead for now but once they realise how much actual money they've spent they will probably slow down massively. Level increases cost so much that eventually everyone will be on the same level

Squirrel August 10th, 2016 7:10 AM

Starting to get annoyed at the stupid tracking capabilities in this game, or lack thereof. I understand why there's no tracker right now and I know everyone is having the same problem but I've lost out on 4 or 5 awesome new Pokémon over the last week just because there's no way to track them. It's really making the game feel a lot worse to play, hoping like crazy that they manage to fix this soon :p

Ugh I feel for you man. I'm really sorry you're getting shafted like this. {D:}-_-
You see, Niantic decided to just copy the portal locations from the Ingress game into Pokemon Go, since making all new global data would be too expensive, and they already have this resource they can borrow from. But Ingress was never marketed for people outside the city.

Ingress has a feature where players can suggest new portal locations to Niantic, but Pokemon Go doesn't, and that makes it inaccessible to non-city folk, or even suburb folk.

I'm actually able to find more Pokemon with Sightings than I was able to with 3-step-glitch Nearby and no-footprints Nearby.

Granted, I have to restart the app pretty frequently to refresh the spawns and the Sightings when they go blank (must be a bug), but as long as you're in your home turf where you have a good idea of where the grassy spawns are, you can visit those places when you notice a Sighting. The only clue you have is that it is currently within 200m, but that's a hell of a lot better than the only clue being "this pokemon might have despawned or gone out of range by now tbh, tough luck"

Sightings isn't perfect but it's an improvement from my perspective, since the footprints were broken and the list of 9 kept listing Pokemon that were no longer around.

Sorry, what do you mean by "grassy spawns" here? Do you mean the weird shaking grass on the map?

Precisely. It's my interpretation that the grass symbols in Sightings mean that these are Pokemon in those locations.

However, ever since the update I haven't seen any of those grass/leaves poof up on the map itself. Anyone else?

Maserati777 August 10th, 2016 4:11 PM

Well I "Whined" about this in another thread about the new update but there's a couple new features I hate.

The grass behind the Pokémon in the nearby menu is messy and takes away from the Pokémon. Also not a huge fan of the new silhouettes, they are darker then the ones before and I think they clash.

Also the worst of the update, a screen come up if your avatar is moving faster then a walk, ie if youre in a car, or if your avatar froze then sped up to catch you. It appears every 10 minutes.

When I travel to work in a car that travels by interstate for about 30-45 minutes straight without stopping. I usually only have a couple seconds to tap the Pokémon before it disappears. And usually Pokémon spawn that don't spawn in walking distance. It'd be one thing if it appeared once, everytime the car started moving. But every 10 minutes if excessive and too much.

There's a button that says I'm a passenger, but the game forgets you said that and asks again after 10 minutes. I shudder to think if this appeared at the same time an Electabuzz or Snorlax spawned....

In case it's not clear I don't drive.

Adding onto this:

Yup, Sightings has definitely improved my experience. Today I caught four Pokemon I didn't have before (on four different walks), all thanks to Sightings and already having some knowledge of where Pokemon spawn in my neighbourhood thanks to Pokevision (memories of it, not current use).
