Any Pokemon you're surprised you don't have?

Like if you're a high level and you haven't seen or caught a pretty common Pokemon.

For me, I'm level 21 and I have yet to catch Shellder, despite the fact that he's been on my nearby plenty of times.

CoalCraft August 11th, 2016 12:01 AM

Level 19, still no butterfree... Catterpies are moderately rare around here XD

Also still 0 eeveelutions - I've been one eevee off for way, way too long.

Dacevid August 11th, 2016 5:32 AM

Well, I'm not sure if these pokemon are rare or common, but I've never seen Sandshrew (or Sandslash).
I am also missing a Mankey, but have a Primeape.

Wow!

It's so interesting how much different certain regions can be. We are overrun by Caterpies where I am.

I suppose based on the rarity, I'm surprised I don't have a Golem yet. Geodude's are supposed to be really common (but again, depends on region, too...) and can even be hatched in 2km eggs, I think, right?

Yet I've only ever caught three Geodudes around here. So, Golem for me.

Funny you should say that, I've only ever seen two geodudes, and one got away from me =P I'd like to hatch one, but I've only hatched four 2K eggs - I mostly seem to get 5Ks

Squirrel August 11th, 2016 6:11 AM

Never seen a Chamander or Cubone, both of which I'm told are relatively common in a lot of areas, never seen a Growlithe and perhaps most strangely, never seen a Doduo! Not sure if it's just my area being so sparse or if I'm just getting unlucky but I'd really love to encounter any of these Pokémon, they're a really cool bunch haha.

CoalCraft August 11th, 2016 6:18 AM

I've never seen a doduo or growlithe either, and growlithe's one of my faves :/

Somewhat irritatingly, the only starter I've seen in the wild has been squirtle, which is the one I accidentally picked (I would have gone for charmander but the server was lagging badly and I was tapping at random). I've seen shadows of charmander, but never the real deal.

I've never seen a wild Dodou, have only hatched them. No idea where they would normally be...

I've heard that a lot of people find them as commonly as Spearow, it seems like the game just chooses one of the two (or from a few others as I've heard similar cases with Nidoran, Drowzee, Eevee, etc) and that's the one you find most commonly? But not at all sure, I just know I want one!

TheSeattle206 August 11th, 2016 8:14 AM

It's funny, there's a Doduo spawn at a local park about 10 minutes away from my house. And I've caught a Growlithe around the same area.

Pepperton August 11th, 2016 8:44 AM

Been playing since the first day of its release, I'm about 4000 exp from level 23, and I still haven't caught a Growlithe, but I've had an Arcanine since like Day 5. Got lucky when someout shouted there was one across the street in a mall. I've actually seen a Growlithe on screen when I was eating at a Greek place, but of course I had no Pokeballs, and no Pokestops were nearby.

Phoenixstarz August 11th, 2016 8:59 AM

Still haven't got a Raichu yet, in the first week I got to 41 Pikachu candy but been stuck on that for 3 weeks now

Sheep August 11th, 2016 9:13 AM

Almost lv. 20 and still never encountered Charmander or Clefairy. aaaagh why. ; ; I know there are areas here where Clefairy's a bit more common but idk I've only seen the shadow once or twice but it never showed up. Wonder when I'll actually spot a Charmander.

merlintocs August 11th, 2016 9:35 AM

I chose Charmander as my starter, and I've never seen another one. I've hatched one Geodude and have never seen another. I've also never seen a Pikachu, Mankey, Drowzee, or Machop.

mikey August 11th, 2016 10:17 AM

I work in NYC and still have yet to see a Koffing, which I find strange lol.

Squirrel August 11th, 2016 10:23 AM

Funny to see how many people are struggling with Charmander haha. I feel like I'm finding Squirtle all over the place and Bulbasaur are also pretty common to hear about on this forum but only one person from memory has spoken about finding a lot of Charmander and that's because she has a nest near her. Think they're a lot rarer than the other starters or just need a very specific biome?

Clefairy usually spawn by the truck load in shopping centres/town centres - what kind of area are you looking in?

Hiatus August 11th, 2016 10:30 AM

I've hatched a few 10km eggs, but none wound up to be an Aerodactyl (which I believe is the only way right now to get a hold of the Pokemon). I'm looking forward to hatching one!

I've received exactly one 10km egg in over a month of playing. No Aerodactyl.

VisualJae August 11th, 2016 4:36 PM

Aerodactyl.

...

...I've hatched 26 10km eggs already (two more today)... 4 more incubating right now.

6 Magmar
4 Hitmonlee
3 Onix
2 Electabuzz
2 Hitmonchan
2 Jynx
2 Omanyte
1 Kabuto
1 Pinsir
1 Lapras
1 Chansey
1 Eevee

I've been to our local mall, the ferry area, tourist parts of the city, and other populated areas in general but no go. You're right about that though, whenever Clefairy spawned it was always around malls and other shopping centers. Guess I'm gonna have to go back and see if I get lucky. D:

Maserati777 August 11th, 2016 4:56 PM

I haven't seen Bulbasaur, Ekans, Sandshrew, Clefairy, Diglett, Growlithe, Machop, Tentacool, Geodude, Ponyta, Magnemite, Doduo, Grimer, Onix, Voltorb or Rhyhorn spawn in my neighborhood.

I actually saw an Ekans for the first time today on the nearby map and it was miles and miles away from my neighborhood.

Other's like Vulpix, Mankey, Charmander and Abra have spawned once in my neighborhood. Definitely random spawns and not nests.

I have seen some others on the nearby map but none ever spawned including Cubone, Electabuzz, Pinsir, Dratini, Dragonair, Vaporeon, Snorlax, Golduck and Lapras. Most of these were before the update so they may not have actually existed.

I've only seen 7 fully evolved Pokémon spawn in my town, Pidgeot, Venomoth, Raticate, Beedrill, Kingler, Hypno and Nidoqueen.

Some of the more uncommon Pokémon include both Nidoran's, Oddish, Jigglypuff, Poliwag and Exeggcute. Zubat and Gastly are a little more common but not as common as Rattata and Pidgey.

A lot of Pokémon I'm just hoping to find in the wild eventually including evolved Pokémon, or from eggs. But at this point I'd rather get an Ekans in an egg then find an Arbok in the wild, since the odds of hatching 20 Ekans is probably not great. And the odds of finding 20 Ekans in the wild is 0.

TheSeattle206 August 11th, 2016 6:04 PM

Oh, don't have Exeggcute either lmfao

sCam August 11th, 2016 6:07 PM

Charmander. Bunch of Bulbasaurs, and Squirtles all over my area but not once have I gotten a Charmander! I should've never picked Bulba as my starter then -.- Also the only Venonat I ever ran into, got away cuz stupid cp 34 pokemon takes 6 pokeballs to catch and I ran into at the end of my walk and only had 2-3 pokeballs left iirc.

With Charmander, I think the biome is one that just not that many people live in. *shrug* So unless you have a nest nearby, it's not going to be easy.

Clefairy in my area have a nest around a large monument. I don't know if that's intentional, but it's cool now that I think about it...

Adamant Linoone August 12th, 2016 3:46 AM

I'm level 21 and I'm yet to encounter a Grimer, seen it on the nearby a few times but just can't seem to track one down!

Dacevid August 12th, 2016 8:12 AM

Just noticed that I haven't seen a Diglett or a Growlithe. I'm a sad person

TheSeattle206 August 12th, 2016 8:25 AM

actually caught a Shellder last night haha

Dedenne1 August 12th, 2016 8:37 AM

I honestly cant find a Geodude for my life. Granted im only level 15 but still ive seen most pokes others have seen and all of my friends have caught atleast 3 geodudes xD

Talon Flare August 12th, 2016 12:57 PM

I haven't caught or obtained a Drowzee yet.
Are Drowzee more common in Europe than in the US?

Phoenixstarz August 12th, 2016 3:32 PM

My most seen
1- Pidgey (425)
2- Rattata (305)
3- Weedle (291)
4- Drowzee (167)
5- Spearow (108)

Drowzee are everywhere around where i live, even more common than Spearow and Caterpie (Zubat is only not on this list because i never bother to catch them)

Adam Levine August 14th, 2016 8:08 AM

Let's see... I don't have Ekans, Magikarp, or Zubat.

(cries)

Phoenixstarz August 14th, 2016 11:31 AM

You must be the only person in the world who doesn't have a zubat :P

DigitalFlow August 14th, 2016 2:08 PM

Hey all,

I'm level 16, never saw a Bulbasaur, never caught a Charmander (due to a glitch) and only have my starting Squirtle.
Pretty sad, there don't seem to be many starters around in here.

Kind Regards,
DigitalFlow

Brendino August 15th, 2016 6:17 PM

Just looked through my Pokedex, and I'm kind of surprised I haven't come across a Grimer or Tangela yet. I know I've seen both of them on the nearby Pokemon radar, but I guess I just never ran into them.

Other than those two, most of the other Pokemon that I haven't seen yet are either somewhat rare, or just evolutions of Pokemon that I don't have enough candy for yet.

CoalCraft August 16th, 2016 3:19 AM

I've never seen so much as diglet's shadow :/

countryemo August 16th, 2016 10:22 AM

We used to have a Charmaner nest somewhat nearby (40mins ish) but the stupid update made them a hour further. Clefairys seem to random, seen them on a walking trail, but I guess I see them semi more often at our capital.

I still have not found a dang ekans and I see people nearby with them.

Arjay August 17th, 2016 2:34 AM

Same for me with Charmander. The starters I've got are 4 Bulbasaurs, 5 Squirtles and a CP64 Wartortle. Encountered a Charmander once whilst on holiday in Scotland 2 weeks ago but after breaking out of 26 pokeballs and 10 great balls, and wasting 16 razz berries, it ****ing fled!! >:(

abarai August 17th, 2016 3:01 AM

Have yet to catch or see a drowzee, seem to be quite rare here.

High on Drugs August 17th, 2016 6:36 AM

Before playing i already planned on owning a Golem cause its one of my favorites in first gen.

Lv 20 now and I dont even have 1 geodude yet

someguy.fromnevada August 17th, 2016 6:52 AM

I've been playing Pokemon Nameless FireRed for about 3 weeks now and I still haven't encountered a freaking Abra... like, what the crap, that should be obnoxiously common yet I haven't even seen one yet.

As for other games, here's a small list:

Pokemon Go - Pidgey (no idea why, but I haven't been able to find one)
Pokemon ORAS - Meowth (Mareep, also unable to find one for some reason)

Maserati777 August 17th, 2016 4:12 PM

I'm kind of surprised Bulbasaur are so nonexistent. I've found a wild Ivysaur here but have yet to see a Bulbasaur. Squirtle, my starter, is the most common, I've seen 8.

Only seen one Charmander, and hatched one.

Meganium August 17th, 2016 4:50 PM

Scythers are rare for me now, and I would really like a better one for myself.

My boyfriend is impressed that I was able to obtain an Arcanine when I was in California. He has yet to get one for himself.

Dragonites are extremely common here in Houston. I know a ton of people that have one already and i have yet to have one myself.

Esper August 19th, 2016 12:43 PM

Shellder and Seel have shown up very rarely despite the fact that I get lots of other Water-types (Slowpoke, Staryu, Krabby, Tentacool) fairly often. That one honestly confuses me.

I'm still pretty sore that I haven't seen one Magnemite anywhere. It's only in the last few days that I even saw a single Electric Pokemon in the wild (a Pikachu that ran away). I can understand Dragons and Ghosts and Ice-types being fairly rare, but why Electric-types? The only Electric-types I have are Pikachu that I hatched and Jolteons I evolved (since Eevee is common as dirt here). And there are at least two electric substations within walking distance of me.

Maserati777 August 19th, 2016 5:23 PM

You would think Ekans would be similar to Rattata, Pidgey and Oddish. It's like a garter snake.

Not sure why it's so rare, not just here where I live but also where I work and inbetween, about 27 miles away.

wetakekills August 19th, 2016 10:30 PM

ive been palying for approx 2 weeks, no pikachu yet god damn it fuck.

If it's Magnemites you're after, book yourself a flight to Inverness in Scotland and head east to Fortrose. It's crawling with them. You literally can't pass through the village without encountering at least 3. Same goes for Voltorbs. Must be a power plant nearby up there.

Then it's a shame the game didn't exist a few years ago since I was staying near Inverness for a week. I could have stocked up a bunch.

Lycanroc August 21st, 2016 2:40 PM

I'd say Squirtle. I know, I shouldn't expect to have one because of it's rarity, but, uhh, I've seen two so far and one escaped, the other lost to a game freeze. So yeah. I feel a bit cheated out of a certain turtle right now.

Maserati777 August 21st, 2016 5:10 PM

in reply to Esper, I've seen 3 wild Pikachu around here, and Jolteon is easy to get because Eevee spawns once every 3 seconds. But Magnemite, Voltorb and Electabuzz just don't exist. Same with Fire, Ice, Rock and Ground types.

I pass about 50 gyms every weekday going to work and back, and I usually scroll through most and there's still some Pokémon I have not seen in them. Most of these are uncommon spawns or non-existent.
Chansey, Alakazam, Sandslash, Dugtrio, Persian, Primeape, Golem, Muk, Onix, Lickitung, Tangela, Seadra, Ditto, Omastar and of course the region exclusives Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime and Farfetch'd.

Pokémon in gyms tend to reveal spawn rates for Pokémon in an area. Unless they just lucked out on an egg or a random fully evolved spawn. Of these I'm most surprised by Alakazam. I'm sure people have it but never use it.

jjc927 August 21st, 2016 6:55 PM

I still don't have Pikachu, Doduo, Ekans, Koffing, Shelder (it showed as nearby but did not pop up today), Tentacool (saw its shadow a couple of times), and a few others.

Saw a couple of people saying they haven't seen Drowzee or only got 1 or 2. I see them quite often and have caught a few (they're fairly difficult to catch).

magicalgirlj August 23rd, 2016 5:24 PM

I really want a Pikachu but none will show up.

Kingdragon131 August 24th, 2016 10:32 AM

rattata

Squirrel August 24th, 2016 6:28 PM

I've caught a lot of the old "WHERE ARE YOU" Pokémon recently but still having trouble with a few. The main ones would be Charmander, Cubone and Doduo I think - haven't caught a single one of these and it's bugging me now haha. Any tips on finding them?

for charmanders try parks/museums in early afternoon
cubones... theres a canal here, when i walk the canal around 3 to 5pm i catch ton of cubones
Doduo, now thats one ive never seen whiff of, surprising because in some areas they are a rich mans rattatta

TDiesels August 26th, 2016 4:45 PM

Believe it or not, I'm at 20 but from where I live I can't find a single koffing :(

Count August 27th, 2016 5:28 AM

The two that surprise me the most is Seel and Onix. I remember failing to catch a Seel when I just started and seeing them nearby a lot as well, but I am lv 21 now and am yet to catch one. Onix surprises me because before I started playing, the first time someone showed me the game (for like 15 min), he caught an Onix so I didn't think they would be that rare. It was pretty close to my house as well, but I never even see it nearby.

3 of the places where i like to play are near water and have plenty of water pokemon spawn points, i caught seel at all of them, and one of those spots has around 1 seel per hour. So try locations where you also get plenty of the other water pokemon, like poliwag, goldeen, magikarp, horsea, staryu.

I dont know about onix, i got one randomly.

Piccolo990 August 27th, 2016 7:07 AM

For me it is Gastly. Never saw one, but I catched a Gengar recently...
