Is Gen 2 Coming To Pokemon GO!?
Let me know what you guys think. Let's have a discussion :)
|
I cannot effin' wait for Gen II to come to Go, some of my all-time favourite Pokes were introduced in Gen II; Kingdra, Crobat, Scizor, Heracross, to name just a few.

gen iv was my favourite though but that will probably be a year away until that comes out |

Probably only 125 like it is for dratini to get to dragonite.
|
i only collection 50 pokemons now, gen II please do not come so fast lol
|
Oh you probably have time. Don't worry and catch on!
|
I think it will be some time before Gen II comes out. Early reports suggested this winter, but, I don't think that took into account the amount of programming that would have to be done. New movesets, a new type, in addition just to all those new stats will take some time to balance and work out.
Niantic will do well to focus more on trading, P2P battles, and whatever developments they have in mind for pokestops and gyms first. With that said, yes, it's very exciting to look forward to. =) |
It would be interesting if they managed to add the day and night factor into pokemon go as they did with gold and silver when thy eventually introduce gn 2. Would add anothr level of ralism to th game

Day/night cycles already exist. The game already changes to nighttime shading once it hits 7:00 pm. It's incredibly easy from a programming sense to check your device's time. No doubt if Espeon and Umbreon are included as 25-candy Eeveelutions, all they'll have to do is randomize the current three plus either Espeon or Umbreon depending on the clock. Obviously they won't be able to prevent people from manipulating the clock, but it's not like people didn't do that already with the handheld consoles. |
I am also looking forward to Gen 2 but I think we're going to be waiting a while. I wouldn't be surprised if we're waiting a while - I can see them releasing the gens yearly, or perhaps half-yearly.
Here's a thought I've been having a lot lately though - I wouldn't be surprised if the next Pokemon they released were something to do with Sun/Moon, not Gen 2. Think about it; they started with Gen 1 because those are the ones that older fans have the most nostalgic fondness for (in theory), but now that they've got new and old fans alike hooked, won't Nintendo be keen to use this platform to raise awareness of the new game they're about to release? They'll want people to find Sun/Moon related stuff and think 'gee, this is neat, I should check out the game this is from'. I'm not saying they'll necessarily release all the Sun/Moon pokemon; that could happen but I think what might be more likely is that they release the Alolan forms - so far we have seen a lot of Gen 1 Alolan forms, after all. It was mentioned that there would be some elements of Sun/Moon in Go after al. Perhaps it could also explain why there are no shinies in Go; they didn't want to confuse people by having three colour varietie of the same Pokemon. |
Good discussion guys! I love talking about this stuff :)
|
Can't remember whether this was from a niantic source (I think it was but not 100% sure) but they hinted at every 6 months between adding each generation
|
who knows when they will add gen 2. I hope they focus on adding more features before adding gen 2.
|
I'd love it if Gen II Pokémon are released. That means more type diversity, yay! Dark-types will finally be obtainable!

I want Gen 2 a looooot, but I also know that Gen 1 is just now releasing worldwide, and with all the upgrades they need to do to the server, and pokestops, and the trading thing, I think it'll be a while before we see Gen 2. >< I'm counting on sometime next summer, at this point, because we haven't even gotten the Pokestop upgrade, or the Gen 1 Legendaries popping up yet - and I have a guess that those will be like field bosses.
|
Hey all,
I already read on some news sites, that it might be that some Pokemon from Gen 2 (e. g. Espeon) get available soon. I would love to see Gen 2 Pokemon in Pokemon Go, Scizor is one of my favorites. Kind Regards, DigitalFlow |
I hope not..
|
Scizor is my favorite too!

It has been mentioned recently that Pokemon GO will be getting a lot of updates in the future, and those include rollouts of Pokemon from the newer generations, with 2nd Gen likely planned to be the next batch of new Pokemon rolled out.
As Drew said, it's still early days for GO so they'll likely want to keep 1st Gen around long enough for people to settle in. 1st Gen legendaries also haven't properly been rolled out yet so it will be a while but once the Pokemon after 1st Gen start coming it will definitely keep people wanting to stick around and catch 'em all. |
I read an article earlier saying gen 2 coming may 2017, I'm really hoping it's wrong as that would be way too long to wait. 6 months from launch has got to be the limit, once most people have got very close to the 142 available then they need to be launching the next generation
|
I there gonna be 125
|
I think its just hoax guys
|
Gen 2 on Pokemon GO or Riot. I can't wait to have my own Chikorita, Umbreon, and Lanturn. My Meganium shall rule. :)))
I heard it's coming sometime in 2017? They keep changing the dates. |
Latest date I heard was June 2017. At the rate a lot of people are progressing though I expect that a lot of people will reduce the amount they play long before then and hopefully that will force niantic to bring the date forward a bit.
There just isn't enough to keep people occupied with the game once you've caught everything in your local area. I've got just about enough to catch locally for now to keep me playing regularly, nests are due to change soon so that might help and hopefully the new tracker will be here soon |

I'm hoping they do seasonal Pokemon as well as morning, day and night time specific Pokemon. There are too many zubats and gastlys around in the day.

To keep a free 2 play game running and successful for years, you need a major content-update 2 or 3 times per year. This is the pattern that many successful games follow. Like Hearthstone, the digital card game by Blizzard, they release two adventures and one major card expansion, all 3 of them adding new cards to the game, each year.
Fixing bugs, adding features that should already be in the game, doing stability updates and hunting down cheaters and botters is also needed, but cannot count as a major content-update. Rolling out the legendarys from gen1 also does not really count. So, after some initial delays from getting the game to be more stable and completing gen1 and working off the backlog, new pokemon releases every 6 months sounds about right. |
And what happens to all the gen 1 pokemon when they add gen 2? It's going to be annoying hunting for generation 2 pokemon and still seeing a bunch of caterpies and pidgeys. Are they going to get rid of gen 1?

It's not like the games only featured Gen. II Pokémon. You can still find Gen. I Pokémon practically everywhere you went. Every core series game other than Gen. V had wild Pokémon from other generations. And side note: Pidgeys and Caterpies are amazing. How else will you gain fast, easy experience? I get more excited finding Pidgeys nowadays than the majority of first stage Pokémon out there. |
I for one would live to find more catterpies; I'm level 21 and don't have a butterfree lol

I think Alola forms will come before Gen 2, but that's just me.
