What was the first world you built?
Do you remember the first world you ever built? Was it an alternate universe of an already existing world, something completely new? What was it for, a story/RP/etc?
I'm very curious to hear :D |
oh wow, that was long ago... The first world was a pokemon region I just kept in a small notebook, but it never really grew, and I forget it's name. Then came Ice world, Fire world, Water world, Bluebear world, Rock world, Varien, Qwertle, and now Saprailia.

Biddenfore, although things were drastically different then. It went by names like Homa or Jome, until I decided on something better.
|
I built a Pokemon region for my sprite comic back in 2006. Pokemon: Instincts was the name and I had an entire region and maps made (all done in MSPaint). :)
|
ffff how do you expect me to remember things i made on a whim when i was a preteen
it was probably something involving weak points between worlds and you know. realm hopping and that. and skyships. and magic. i was always on board for magic with limitations and almost-science explainations. |
I've been creating fantasy worlds since I was like a toddler so I can't really remember that far back lol. But the first good one (currently lacking a name) that I remember I started working on when I was like seven or eight and gradually developed it for years upon years after that - I still sometimes have ideas for it xD.
I might even bring it to the multiverse once I've gotten a bit further along with Jeimas. |
Wow that's like years back... My first world was something I created so as to fight boredom and be like a storyteller to my sister. It was a world made up of our plushies and geography spanned our entire house. We treated furniture (beds, sofas, whatnot) like islands and cities and the rooms as regions/continents. We also pretended that our plushies could use magic, based on elemental affinities.

I guess it just never left my imagination though haha |
Oh man, aside from all the half baked pokemon regions I made in name only, the first actual "world" (not just a setting) I put any effort into was some horrible little D&D world. I don't remember the name, and the map itself was probably lost in a move or at a friend's house, but it was very generic Tolkien-esque fantasy. All of the races were pretty much D&D default, and most of the significant people were either humans, or didn't necessarily act different enough to not be humans.
That one didn't last too long. We had too many people and eventually it got forgotten and I moved on to other worlds with a bit more oddities, feeling comfortable enough to start trying to make worlds that aren't 1 to 1 copies of earth. |
The only world I could think of that I still remember would be the Connect multiverse tbh. I mean, it started out as one of those crappy preteen middle school fantasy stories, with Mary Sues and Gary Stus all around with a very childish plot, but once I actually did made it a bit serious and added in details and stuff, I feel like it would become a great story with all these beautiful lore and stuff.
|
I feel like I'm the only one here new to worldbuilding - Arvania would be my first! I didn't enjoy creative writing much as a kid and the extent of my creativity would be imagining what goes on in various already-established fictional worlds, so it's cool being in charge and coming up with your own rules, history, peoples, etc.

I've been built super simple worlds since I was a kid, but the first big project I built was the planet Blarghus (named after the Roman god of blarg) I made with a friend. The world exists for about 80% out of cheese and there was such beautiful random other trivia.
The map is also usable as alternate board for Risk, on which I happened to get utterly destroyed yesterday. :( |
I don't know, but it was a while ago. Probably something small and incomplete and just repackaged from something I saw on Star Trek or Star Wars or something along those lines. Us kids would play all kinds of games on the playground that went beyond "the ground is lava" and into crazier places. That was probably where it started.

A magical energy of weirdness called "Blarg" has always been a joke among my friends. Probably the reason why I'm a Blarzigord fanboy without really frequenting the RPT. <3 |
