Welcome to Anime Karaoke Party! I'll be your hostess, Shuko! :D This is a club dedicated to the proliferation and celebration of the wonder that is Anime Karaoke! If you love to sing, and you love anime, this is the place for you! If you love JPop or JRock, this is the place for you! If you've never tried Karaoke of any kind before, but think it could be fun to try to sing that song you like from that particular series, then this is definitely the place for you! All you need is a pair of ears and a love of good music, and you'll be accepted! You can be a reviewer if you prefer, but everyone is encouraged to submit their own pieces, regardless of how bad you think you sound. It takes a lot of guts to present your voice to the world, and regardless of whether you sound like Pavaratti or Urkel, there won't be any naysaying about it here. So let's get this party started! Let's Karaoke!

------------------------------------------------------------------

First off, some groundrules. This is the prerequisite to any good club, so bear with me, and please read all of the following before posting anything here:

1. Respect others and their feelings. It doesn't matter if you think their voice sounds like a cat in a blender, you have no right to be rude to them. Honest criticism is important, but it is also important to remember that the point of karaoke is not to become the next American Idol; it's to have fun. Violations of this rule will result in immediate suspension of club membership.

2. Have fun! Karaoke is all about getting together with buddies and having a good time. You don't have to have an awesome voice. The only weapons you need are a sense of humor and a love for music.

3. Only post clips of karaoke from one or more of these categories: JPop (Japanese Pop), JRock (Japanese Rock), JRap (Japanese Rap), or Anime music (Can be in any language, as long as it's anime. :)).

4. Only post music YOU sing in. You can post music that has more than one singer, but only if one of them is you. You may NOT take credit for someone else's singing. That is akin to plagiarism, and will not be tolerated. Violations of this rule will result in immediate suspension of club membership.

5. It is against the PC rules to post links to another website, and this rule still holds true for Karaoke sites. If you own a Karaoke website (and even if you don't own it), you may not post a link to it here. You may, however, post some of the files you've created here (the song files, that is). Some leeway is given to sites that are specifically used to host your music files. (Most of these sites do not support direct linking). Linking to your profile page in that respect is okay, but if you link to anything else, you will receive a warning to edit your post. If you do not edit out the offending link within the span of 3 days, you will be banned from the club. Just remember: files up to 2mb can be attached to your post. If you can compress your song to less than 2mb, then just attach it to your post. Don't worry about posting a link. :P

6. For reasons listed in rule five, links to Karaoke resources of any kind (i.e. sound mixers, instrumental songs, stores to buy merchandise) are forbidden. I understand however, that it isn't easy to get started in this fun hobby, because there are a few components that you absolutely have to have, and you may not know where to find them. If you have any questions about where to locate some or all of the resources you need, you can PM me and ask me for my recommendations, and I'll do the best I can to help you. As we get more members, we may dig up a few more people who can help out in this respect as well. But do not request these things in your posts, and don't advertise them either.

7. Any rules pertaining to PC and the Other Clubs forum are ALWAYS in effect.

8. I have the final say in any dispute. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is. I will do my best to be democratic and fair, but keep in mind that whatever happens, it is to be in the club's best interests. If you spam up this thread with advertisements, insults, or fraudulent posts, you have lost your privilege to post here, and will be banned. Period. There will be no disputing this after the fact. You may take it over my head if you so choose, but if you've done any of the above, not even the Moderators will take your side. You have been warned.

All right. Enough with the rules. Let's get started!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Tips and hints:
I will be updating this section as more information becomes available to me. This is information that I think anyone who'd like to do anime karaoke should know.

What you need:
You will need several things to do anime karaoke. First, and most important, is a voice. Karaoke is a japanese word that means "Voiceless." It's almost a slangy term over there pertaining to music without voice. In any event, without your voice, you won't be able to sing, and without singing, there'll be no karaoke!

Another thing you need is a microphone. You can record your voice in many different ways, but the most common is a regular PC desktop microphone. With it, you'll be able to record your voice for everyone to enjoy.

You'll also need some kind of music editing software, if you intend to set your voice to accompaniment. This can present a problem, as it is difficult to find good quality music editing software without purchasing it. I'm currently looking into options right now, but feel free to PM me with any suggestions, questions, comments you have. If you don't want to set your voice to music, that's fine; you can always go acapella if you choose. :P

Recording Tips:
A good rule of thumb when recording your voice is to cover your microphone with some kind of static absorber before you use it for recording. This can easily be done by putting a sock over it. :P You'd be surprised at how much "blow static" it'll cut out by doing this.

Sing loudly and clearly as close to the microphone head as possible. And try to do it in an environment that has very little background noise.

Member list:
I will keep a list of the members in this area. Just say you want to join, and I'll put your name here. ^_^

Finally, welcome to all of you! I hope we have a lot of fun here!

I'll start us off with a short acapella bit I did for the singing contest about a week ago:

Hi, can I join the party? I'll start with my homemade English rendition of "Takeshi no Paradaisu" (I'm "translating" what Brock is singing)

The file was split into two parts, so listen to number one first, then the other.

Some other notes:

--I tend to grunt on the low notes...

Sure you can join! I'm gonna have to listen to your songs later on today, tho, since if I do it at work they'll think I'm goofing off... which I'm doing, lol. Welcome to the club! ^.^

Btw, Takeshi's so silly! I can't wait to hear what his song sounds like! I've never heard the original before, lol.

EmeraldSky May 12th, 2005 1:37 PM

I can do a good singing Brock, even though I'm a girl.

I also have some Sailor Moon songs under my belt...

Shuko May 12th, 2005 4:13 PM

Waaaaaiiii!!!! So cyuuuute! X3 The only bad thing I could possibly say about it is that with him and you doing it in different languages, I sometimes couldn't understand either one of you, lol! XD "Oi, Neeee-san!!!" Priceless! :D Two thumbs up!

I haven't done another one yet since the shortie I did for the contest. I've gotta figure out what I'll do next. I've got a few candidates in mind, tho. 8)

You know what? We need a spiffy banner to try to lure others into the fun! I can try to work on one, but if you have any cool ideas, just post 'em here, 'kay? :D

EmeraldSky May 12th, 2005 6:11 PM

Well, I figured that "My lovely one" was a close enough translation of "Onee-san", anyway.

I was going to sing "Epona's Song", but the phone rang while I was recording, and the mic recorded the phone. I deleted that take soon after.

Alexis9000 May 17th, 2005 12:56 PM

I wanna join, but I have a question, can I sing a song from Final Fantasy? I know that it's not an anime, but it's a game, can I? If you let me sing that song, I'll sing it, it is instrumental in the game, but here is with voice because I add lyrics to that song, in the game the song is called "You're Not Alone" and it's from Final Fantasy IX, the title will be the same here, but the only difference are the lyrics and me singing.

Anyway, I also heared your song, EmeraldSky, but I don't know from what anime or game that song is from, but I like it still, I will say one thing to you and I don't want that you counteratack to what I will say(if you know I mean when I say counteratack, I mean, don't make my word 2 offensive to u), it's that from 1 to 10, I would maybe give you one 9,1, I only wouldn't give a 10 because I also don't understand a few things you say in the song, but if that problem wasn't present, you would become famous because of your voice, it rulzz!!!!

Well... yes, I would consider Final Fantasy as qualifying, because there actually was a final fantasy anime, lol. Hey, wait a minute! *Flips through her collection of anime music cds that cost her way too much money* What do you know?! I do have some FF music in here! I've got a couple renditions of "Melodies of Life," anyway, lol. Anyway, sure, you can join. :) Welcome. I'll add you guys' names to the list. :)

Alexis9000 May 17th, 2005 1:20 PM

Sorry, but I prefer "You're Not Alone" instead of "Melodies of Life" because, that song I will sing it's my favourite from all the Final Fantasy's!
However I may only sing tomorrow I guess, because today I must go to bed(not if my mom don't call me, heheheh, just kidding, 'cause my mom already called me)!

Oh don't worry; I'm not going to dictate what song you sing, lol. You can sing whatever FF song you want. :) Come to think of it, I didn't like Melodies of Life all that much either...

EmeraldSky May 17th, 2005 2:46 PM

I can scat the chocobo theme, if you wanna hear that...

(scat=a type of jazz singing in which the singer imitates a musical instrument)

Shuko May 17th, 2005 3:47 PM

Well... I didn't say specifically that it had to be singing... and they didn't let you do scat for the singing contest either... and I don't think the Chocobo theme song actually has any real lyrics (unless you wanna say that Chocobo Robo Voice is valid enough, lol), so okay. :P Less hear it!

EmeraldSky May 17th, 2005 7:14 PM

It's kinda late, so I'll save it for tomorrow...

Better be late than never arrive, here it is my song, but the lyrics are AWFULLY bad, andmy voice is even worse :nervous: !! However, this is only for fun, so, I guess I'll show this to you! If you have difficulties on knowing what do I say in the song, here is the lyric:

You Are Not Alone

Don't Go Far Away
Danger Over There Is More Than Real
No More Words To Say
Just Find The Secrets To Reveal

You Are Not Alone
Never Try To Remain In That Zone
I'm Sure There's A Way
Which Is Safest For You To Stay

Believe In The Dreams
They're More Powerful That It Seems
They Can Turn Your World
Into A More Purled World

You Are Not Alone
Never Try To Remain In That Zone
I'm Sure There's A Way
Which Is Safest For You To Stay

I'll Be Here For You, To Help You Soon
Yeah, No Need To Follow The Moon
And It Won't Be Harder For You, And You Will Be
The Next Hero To Me
(repeat)

*Yawns* I gotta go to bed soon. I can't devote the attention I need to to this tonight. I'll listen tomorrow, 'kay Alexis? That way I can hear it more clearly. :)

Very nice, Alexis! :D I loved it! I only have one question: why did the file keep going for another couple of minutes, when your singing ended after only the first two? Lol I was expecting more singing! >: You tease, you!

Emerald:
Lolz! So cute! I had totally forgotten that tune! Thanks a lot; now you know I'll NEVER get it out of my head again! *bashes head against wall* Lol! That was sweet. :P

Alexis9000 May 20th, 2005 3:37 AM

I was recording in a program, and the file has more minutes than the number of minutes the song has, so, it continued recording until the end of the file!

Good job, ES! You were rockin! :P Really bouncy stuff, that. It's too bad you weren't able to find a karaoke track for it instead, though. :P That way you wouldn't have to play dueling voices with the original singer, lol.

Well, I decided I'd try mixing my vocal track of Moonlight Densetsu with the karaoke track and see how it worked. (Really, it was more a test of Goldwave than anything else, lol.) I'm not too too happy with the results, but I'll let you guys form your own opinions about it. :( Let me know what you think if you get the chance to listen to it.

EmeraldSky May 27th, 2005 10:17 AM

I had to transpose "Star Jewel" down a step to make it easy for me, even though the singer has a low voice...

Shuko June 15th, 2005 6:35 PM

Yay! I made the first cut of my song for the Singing Contest! 0_o It's not all that good, but at least I have time to change it later. Here it is, if you guys wanna hear it. :D

My Song

That's okay, there's always next time! At least I tried!
