Your thoughts on the 7th Gen shinies

Link to all the new Pokemon and their shinies here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a7ea32cfyd3jt48/AABF_2mtBP_tMOqK1w5G084wa?dl=0 (Be warned, datamine spoilers ahead)

So, following the huge datamining of the Sun & Moon demo, we have the shinies of the new Pokemon, Alola Forms and Ultra Beasts all leaked for us to see.

That said, what do you think of the new shiny Pokemon of this generation? Do you have a fave or least fave? Is there a certain new Pokemon you want to obtain a shiny of?

I'm shiny hunting for the first time ever for a Rowlet. Those colors are amazing

Hikamaru October 18th, 2016 9:34 PM

I have to admit I love Crabrawler's shiny because while it's not a huge change, it was accurately predicted by me that its claws would turn red. I knew about shiny Hitmonchan having blue boxing gloves while the normal Hitmonchan had red ones, and since Crabrawler's claws were blue normally I figured they'd do something similar with it.

I also love Cutiefly and Ribombee being pink, since it suits their Fairy typing well. Of Lycanroc's shinies, I think this would be where Midnight form is definitely better, because I like that dark teal on it. Sensu and Baile Oricorio's shinies are awesome as well since they're pretty much inverted colours done right.

Salandit's shiny being white makes its bandit mask-like head stand out better, and I also love Sandygast and Palossand's shinies due to how unexpected they were, but then again I do love black shinies. It's also why I like shiny Minior also being black.

Bruxish's definitely makes me laugh the most, since that red and green on it reminds me of watermelons.

LilyGardy October 18th, 2016 9:54 PM

I might end up soft resetting for a Shiny Rowlet as it's whole line looks excellent in Shiny form and I do like the Shiny version of Popplio's final form.

I can see myself hunting for a Shiny Bounsweet too to get a Shiny Tsareena but I do prefer Tsareena's regular colour scheme.

MarinoKadame October 18th, 2016 10:13 PM

The whole Shiny line for Litten just look weird, White with Orange doesn't seem to blend really well.

Shiny Mimikyu looks great, but most shinies look either weird or not that different. Popplio line is kind of boring looking in shiny since it doesn't change much.

Loving the Fire Oricorio shiny form tho.

I don't know if Pallosand line would of been better as a white shiny. I guess Black is alright.

Rengoku October 18th, 2016 10:44 PM

Begs to differ about Litten's shiny forms. They look more epic to me than the non-shiny.
Ballad-Oricorio looks really epic!
I prefers the non-shiny Silvally though, I wish they could've been Black for their shiny forms instead.
Jangmo-o's evolution line looks pretty weird with their pinks on their shiny forms though.

Out of topic-- All the unrevealed Pokemons look awesome!

Morelull's evolution is so pretty in my opinion!
Salandit's evolution looks cool too, I love it!

And the UBs actually look better in their sprites than their actual artworks.

Also Rowlet looks really cool!!

My fave shiny Oricorio is probably Sensu. I feel white suits its Ghost typing (Baile's is awesome as well). The worst one for me is probably Pom Pom since it's in the "barely changes" category while the others basically did inverted colours.

And yes, I do admit Rowlet got the best shiny as far as the starters are concerned. Popplio's continued the trend of the Water starter getting the crappy shiny.

lunemoon October 19th, 2016 7:33 AM

I like rowlets line colour and the middle stage of Popplio but littens isn't really that nice and the yellow hair on Popplios final stage just looks odd.

the toucan having a beak the colours of the bi flag is amazing I will def need to get one of them.

fire and ghost oricorio are very nice and I'm so glad I got my pink cutiefly wish. night form of lycanroc is the only one of it's line I like at first look.Wishiwashi, Lurantis, Morelull (but not it's evo), Salandit+evo are all nice as well. jangmo'o would have been nice if it's yellow was less bright.

blue October 19th, 2016 7:59 AM

yo tsareena's shiny is fierce af.

Looking at some of these makes me kinda disappointed that shinies are so rare, otherwise I'd totally use some of these over their original forms. I also like how shiny Sandygast and Palossand seem to be based off black sand beach in Hawaii.

The_Awesome_Pikachu October 19th, 2016 8:01 AM

Rowlet's and A-Sandslash's are my Favourite

Caaethil October 19th, 2016 3:08 PM

Nobody bringing up Minior? It has a unique core pattern design for its shiny - not just a flat recolour - and the shell is still the same so you can't see it's a shiny until you break the shell. I think it's pretty great.

Wouldn't you still see the sparkles though? Or the shiny symbol if you breed for a shiny.
Still clever though!

Also, cutieflys shiny is my favorite, I think it suits it great!

Frozocrone October 19th, 2016 5:57 PM

Shiny Litten looks amazing but Shiny Luchalitten looks awful , same with Rockruff :(

Rowlets line is good. Bewear line too.

Legendaries are also good IMO.

My favourite one would probably be Turtinator.

Migit78 October 19th, 2016 8:55 PM

Sorry, a little off topic but why does Magernia have 3 different coloured sprites rather than just regular and shiny, whats the 3rd?

Edit: as for the shiny forms, some are cool, some are meh - same as all shinies
I know we wont see them for ages, but the cover legends got let down on the shiny form

feniter91 October 19th, 2016 9:05 PM

I'm going to shiny hunt for the Jangmo-o;
, It looks so cool!

The red Magearna seems to be a special form, while the black one might be the shiny.

Shiny Wishiwashi?

Does Wishiwashi have a shiny of its school form? Because that doesn't seem like it would make much sense. Isn't it's schooling ability loads of Wishiwashi together? Can a shiny Wishiwashi only call upon other shinies to form a school, or does it look like a regular School Form Wishiwashi with one little shiny fish in amongst It somewhere? I've tried to avoid the shiny spoilers so i don't want to go looking for it as I'll probably see others, but this one intrigues me so I don't mind one spoiler. {XD}

Hi there! Just to let you know that I've merged your thread with this one as it covers the discussion of shiny Pokémon in Sun & Moon. To answer your question, Wishiwashi does have a shiny school form which you can actually see here as an individual image if you want to avoid seeing any other shiny images for the Alola Pokémon. (:

Yes it does have a shiny for school form. Here's a picture:
Attachment 80364

It's eyes are the focus, although it appears to be a darker blue as well.

Arjay October 20th, 2016 6:05 AM

Thanks guys, didn't see this thread. Oops!

Okay, it doesn't look how I imagined it would, but it doesn't look like the entire entity is a different colour which I like because this makes more sense than an entire school of shiny fish.

I doubt it will do the sparkle. Maybe it'll do it when the shell breaks? That would be cool.

As for hatching one, I doubt it matters. The whole point of it seems to be for a surprise in wild encounters.

Bounsweet October 20th, 2016 9:58 AM

I like how at least most of the shinies are very different from the original, not too many of the one-shade-off shinies in this gen.

That said, all of the Pokemon I wanna use have amazing shinies - Popplio's final evo, Ribombee, Tsareena, and Oricorio Sensu style. Shiny Mimikyu looks pretty cool, it reminds me of the grayscale RB games in a way. I'm definitely gonna be doing a lot of shiny hunting in these games.

dopamine October 20th, 2016 2:13 PM

I'm going to be hunting for everything, but Rowlet is first on my list.

MKC October 20th, 2016 2:20 PM

I think shiny Sandygast is my favourite, I find it so much cuter than the normal one, but that's maybe because I spent my summers around black sanded beaches so it just looks more natural than the yellow one to me xD

Just something I noticed on this wondering if you knew anything about it.
Mimikyu has 2 different sprites, standing and leaning backwards. Any idea why?

That leaning sprite of Mimikyu is what it becomes after its Disguise ability is broken.

oh okay thanks. would be way cooler if we actually got to see what Mimikyu is without the costume

Speaking of Mimikyu, I have mixed feelings about its shiny sprite. I wish it didn't look depressing. D:

I see your point, but I feel like they're different cases. Diglett/Dugtrio is a mole like Pokemon only its head comes out of the ground, so it's all we need to see. Fortress, Tangela, Tangrowth what we see is them, Fortress just has a shell, and the others grow vines like hair.

Mimikya however is wearing a costume so people will like it, and be its friend.
I'm just interested in what it looks like, why would I not be its friend without the costume?
Mimikya has the potential still to be anything. I dunno, it makes the most sense to me out of the listed Pokemon, to have a body reveal

clbgolden October 21st, 2016 6:43 PM

That shiny Bewear almost makes me want to hunt for one.

Almost.

CidHazard October 22nd, 2016 4:18 AM

Shiny Rowlett line is my jam :D

But that Shiny Lunala tho: It looks so freakin bad-ass... It looks like a vampire lord.

Solar Snivy October 23rd, 2016 9:03 AM

Shiny Bruxish is just all Christmas explosion in there.

Favorite shinies include:
Rowlet: Now in evergreen forests. It's coloration is just really pleasant and makes sense.

Oricorio: All of it's shinies are beautiful and perfect.

Mimikyu: So much more depressing than normal Mimikyu, which makes me feel like I need to catch it more.

Salandit: It looks amazing and gorgeous.

Sandyghast/Palossand: Black sand castles for volcanic black sand beaches.

Pyukumuku: It's a sea cucumber and cucumbers are green.

Morelull: A brown, earthy mushroom color looks nice.

Alolan Raichu: It actually looks different from it's non-shiny form, which is great, also, brown looks really nice on it.

Alolan Meowth: Blue just makes it look more snazzy, and it also looks more like a dark type.

Jangmo-o/Hakamo-o: I actually really like these two's shiny form. It seems really sunny to me. Kommo-o, on the other hand, is just really ugly and unpleasant to look at.

Worst shinies:
Kommo-o: See above.

Litten line: Ugly. Red/orange and white do not look good together. They could have reversed it's normal coloration or chosen a color besides red to go with the white. This just seems like a missed oppurrtunity.

Komala: That's literally a non-shiny Komala holding a pillow.

Everything that barely changes; especially Marshadow and Normal Magearna.

Bounsweet line: It's coloring just doesn't make any sense. It's a fruit, so it's leaves change? There were so many better things they could have done.

Florges October 23rd, 2016 9:14 AM

I really want a shiny Rowlet, but I'm not willing to soft reset for one, haha. I also really like Alolan Raichu, Alolan Vulpix-Ninetails, all of the dancing birds who's name escapes me, Wimpod's evolution, the sea urchin, Lurantis, Tsareena, Stufful, Morelull...

I'll stop. I like a ton of them. ;A;

Mawa October 23rd, 2016 9:47 AM

I like the shiny Vikavolt C:

The shiny Occorico are nice too!
Ribombee look so autumnal hehe, same for Morelull
Rockruff's line isn't bad either.
Salandit my sweet baby is cute too, but I think I prefer in back.
Palossand. A black shiny is never bad.
Togedemaru is sweet in pink!

As for the star meteor Pokemon (I don't remember the name), well it's gonna be hard to know if you have a shiny!! :o

AliceBlaze October 23rd, 2016 12:45 PM

I think the Rowlett family have the best looking shinies out of the starters.
I love the colours on the shiny toucan's beak.
I like the shade of purple on Yungoos.
Shiny Gumshoos reminds me of shiny Lopunny.
I didn't expect shiny Rockruff and Lycanroc to be blue. It makes them look even less like Rock types.
If it weren't for the log it's holding, Komala would be just like Garchomp in terms of shiny form.
I like how shiny Mimikyu has a monochrome palette like on a Gameboy.
It kinda bothers me how shiny Solgaleo and Lunala are both red even though their normal forms are different colours.
Shiny Alolan Ninetales looks almost exactly as I pictured it.
I love the shade of purple on shiny Alolan Marowak's body.

T-roy October 23rd, 2016 3:39 PM

The new shinies look awesome in my opinion. I can't wait to go shiny hunting!!

Rivvon October 23rd, 2016 8:59 PM

Need:
All Oricorio forms--especially Flamenco!!
The Entire Cutiefly Line™
Salandit (not the evolution, though...)
sand
The legendaries (which are probably gonna all be shiny-locked . . . . . . . )
Alolan Raichu
and maybe others but not as much as the above

Altairis October 23rd, 2016 9:56 PM

Aren't too many ugly ones out there! I wish Lurantis was a different color, however... I vastly prefer the pink to the green. The only ones I'm not really a fan of are Alola Raichu, Graveller, Golem, Meowth line, Dugtrio line. Huh, mostly Kanto Pokemon.

Hikamaru October 24th, 2016 3:55 AM

I noticed how much Midnight Lycanroc's shiny reminds me of Sonic's Werehog form from Sonic Unleashed. Funny when you consider that game also had a day and night theme to it.

Iron Tiff October 25th, 2016 1:17 PM

The Litten line looks candy cane-themed XD

I love Lunala and Drampa the most. Not too crazy for the Jangmo-o line's shinies though.

Xerecies October 29th, 2016 6:40 PM

I'm indifferent, really. They're the same as the other generations that preceded it.

kingdenas October 30th, 2016 12:48 PM

There are many shinies that I liked (I tried to ignore the Ultra Beasts at all cost, so I'm not going to refer them):

-The Rowlet Line (Damn, those colors! Such a cool combination!)
-Vikavolt (I like it's white look ^^ I hope I doesn't become annoying though)
- Cutiefly and Ribombee (I wanted Cutiefly's line to be pink since the thing got announced, so I'm pretty happy ^^ I love Ribombee's red scarf too!)
- Lycanroc's Midnight Form (I love its bluish color change ^^ Idk, I find it cool!)
- The Salandit Line (MAAAAAAAN, those things look amazing with their white color! Super badass!)
- Bewear and its pre-evo ( That yellow color matches them SO WELL. I prefer their shiny forms rather than its normal forms just because of that 0.0 [Don't get me wrong, I like pink Pokémon xD])
- Passimian
- Sandygast line (It's literally black sand! How cool is that???? Loved them!)
- Minior's core ( I love its black color with those colorful little triangles.)
- Bruxish (As someone said, it's ready for Christmas XD But seriously I love those color combinations)
- Alola Raichu ( It looks like chocolate :3)
- Alola Vulpix and Ninetales (YEEEEEEEEEEES I WANTED THEM TO BE PURPLE >.< I'm so happy!)
- Alola Meowth (I love it's bluish-purple color theme. It looks cool)

I don't mind the yellow/green on Fomantis and Lurantis, but like you said I felt blue would have been a better colour for shiny Lurantis. Blame me knowing so many older gen pink Pokemon turn blue when shiny and vice versa.

Ewery1 October 30th, 2016 7:56 PM

All of the gen 7 shinies I especially like/want are:

Dartrix/Decidueye- Love the scheme, especially on Dartrix.
Torracat- Not a huge fan of the colors of the other two evolutions in the line.
Brionne- Something about that purple is so adorable. The color on Popplio is too minor and I don't like Primarina.
Toucanmon- FRUIT LOOPS!! I want this shiny just to name it that.
Oricorio (Baile and Sensu)- Just beautiful. I need these in my life (especially Baile omg).
Cutiefly/Ribombee- Adorable!!
Lugarugan- Both forms are sick, I prefer midday in general but I certainly wouldn't mind midnight.
Spider thingy first evo- Woah it looks so alien I love it.
Sandalit Evo- So cool.
Stufful/Bewear- Golden red pandas??? Count me in!
Tsareena- SLAY!!
Oranguru- For some reason I just really like the pink.
Wimpod Evo- O: EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS DESIGN IS BEASTLY I NEED ONE NOW
Minior- Love the black color scheme, makes it super unique.
Anchor thingy- The red is just awesome.
Tapu Fini- My favorite Tapu and my favorite shiny of a Tapu, looks so menacing I love it.
Pokeball Margearna- The black is just amazing looking.

TheKojo October 30th, 2016 8:20 PM

the only one I'm probably going to go out of my way to get is Bruxish. Reminds me if the Piranha Plant.

Cyrain November 1st, 2016 3:50 AM

There are some nice colour changes, but there are four that really stand out to me:). Here's my Top3:

1. Alola-Raichu looks like it's made out of chocolate and caramel, my favourite by far and I'll definetly hunt for one and maybe even add it to my allstars-team
2. Mimikyu is just perfect in greyscale. Not only does it amplify the sad-theme, it is also pretty unique. I can't think of another shiny that went from colour to black/white.
3. The sandcastle-ghosts share this spot. I have some fond childhood memories about building sandcastles on the beaches of the Canary Islands and the sand there is sometimes volcanic black.

Stufful gets a consolation price, because it looks a lot mor like a red panda. If the evolution would look different I might even hunt one...or I'll do that anyway and simply never evolve it.

Flowerchild November 2nd, 2016 4:17 PM

Rowlet and its evolutions look great in their shiny colours. I've never tried to get a shiny starter but I may do so just this once. I also really like Alolan Exeggutor's shiny colours. Besides that, there really aren't that many I'm into.

Zlexar November 5th, 2016 11:45 AM

Cutiefly line has an adorable shiny design! I'll probably shiny hunt for that one and Bounsweet's as well, even though Bounsweet's line is a bit less fancy - still adorable though.
