Let's Build Together!
Welcome to Let's Build Together (guys I tried I'm just really not good with thread names, but I think this is apt enough) - this is a simple, fast-paced game/exercise where you can collaboratively build worlds with other members; perfect if you're stuck on your current world, or just need a break and want to try something fun and new. I also highly encourage new worldbuilders/lurkers to join in - if creating your own world seems too daunting or time-consuming at the moment, hop in and help build a mini-world to get a feel for what the Multiverse is all about! HOW THIS WORKS The structure of this game is simple - the first person to post will write an introduction to a world (or village, region, alternate dimension, etc), briefly summarize the main concepts or theme of the world, and then provide a prompt for the next person. EXAMPLE If the Alola region was built in this thread, it would look something like: PERSON 1 1. Introduction The Alola region is made up of four islands, along with one artificial island. Each of the four islands has a Pokémon called a guardian deity. These Pokémon are collectively called the tapu, and they are worshiped by the people. The kahunas who serve as leaders of each island are chosen by these island guardians. In Alola, humans and Pokémon coexist in a very close relationship, and a culture has developed that is different from other regions. Tell me about the ecology of Alola. The next person will use the given prompt to continue building the world, and then provide another prompt for the next user. PERSON 2 2. Ecology Alola is surrounded by the sea. It has a diverse ecology made up of Pokémon that have lived as natives of the Alola region for generations, along with Pokémon that have more recently arrived in Alola from other regions. Due to the unique environmental pressures, a number of Pokémon species that appear in Alola have regional variants known as Alola Forms that have different properties to elsewhere in the Pokémon world. For example, in Alola Vulpix moved to snowy mountain peaks to avoid the normal habitats of other Pokémon, and adapted to their new environment by becoming Ice-type. Tell me about the people of Alola! And so on, until 11 posts/topics total is reached for that world (the introduction + 10 prompts) - the person who works on the last prompt may then introduce a new world, and the cycle starts again. OTHER THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND • In the spirit of keeping things on the shorter side, let's try an experimental limit of about 200 words for each post. Going under is fine (for reference, the Alola examples were about 80-100 words), but try to write at least 50 words per prompt. • So there's no confusion about the progress, label your posts with the post number in the current world and the topic you are working on (eg. 1. Introduction, 2. Food, - - - 11. Transportation. And then back to 1. Introduction). • Try to adhere to and build off of what the initial, overall concept is about - even if the overview is something silly - and yes, you are welcome to do something outrageous (ie. a region where the dominant species of Pokémon is Wobbuffet and they have developed their own sophisticated Wobbuffet society, or a world where placentas are integrated in everyone's everyday life, including their food, drinks, cosmetics, etc.), don't throw out completely random things that don't really work with what other people have been contributing. • You may contribute multiple times to the same world as long as there is at least 1 post between your posts (ie. no double-posting here). • Don't be afraid to try something new! Even if you think you're doing something stupid… the world is only going to be 11 short posts long, it's not going to be immortalized (unless it inspires you to make a new thread for it). QUESTIONS & FEEDBACK Keep in mind a lot of these limits and rules are kind of experimental, since this is a new thing - if you have some feedback regarding how this should be run, please let know (ie. Maybe you think 20 posts per world would work better, or a bigger/smaller word limit, etc). And of course, if there is any confusion about how this works or questions, feel free to ask. Have fun! ![]() |
Let's do something that we could all relate, for the first world, hopefully.

Part 5 - Religion
Most people in PokeCommunity follow Modism, the worship Mod. Mod appears in different guises to the people and they say Mod has a thousand faces, some of which are kind, some cruel, but most of which are laughing. Although Mod is said to live on an island in the sky from which Mod looks down upon the people, sometimes Mod appears in person before them to hand out rewards (called "Imblams") and punishments ("Bhans"). Those Mod favors are marked with a special sign and are taken to a mountain or other high place and thrown off. But if the sign is true they do not die, but become one with Mod and may appear as one of the guises Mod uses among the people. Some newly settled lands in PokeCommunity do not yet worship Mod, instead following a non-denominational atheistic philosophy, but these lands often collapse in on themselves or are conquered by Modists. Tell me about the history of PokeCommunity World. |
