What was your first game? Do you still enjoy it?
My first game was LeafGreen, and despite the many many times I played it it's still pretty fun to play every year or so. I tend to play FireRed instead these days because I prefer its exclusives, but those games are basically identical tbh. It's still quite fun, I enjoy it a lot. ^_^
How about you? Which Pokémon game was your first, and do you still find it fun? |
My first one is represented by my avatar. While the series has made tremendous improvements, I still like to go back and revisit the originals every once in a while.
For me, it was Ruby.
I sadly haven't played it since moving onto 4th Gen (and now even more outclassed by OR/AS) but it does hold a place in my heart. |
Gold or silver, I was a twerpish when the game got out and I just play for fun
Mine was LeafGreen. It's not my favourite game as I like the Johto games better, but I still enjoy playing it to this day and it'll always have a special place in my heart.
Blue was my first game but I don't enjoy the gen I games anymore. I find them too difficult to play with the lack of features, how dated they feel, and a lot of my favourite mons weren't introduced until later gens. DPPT currently remains my favourite, but I've gotta say S/M seem to be shaping up to be pretty strong contenders.
Plat was the first game I bought, HG was the first game I completed.
Sapphire was my first game, but I somehow don't have it anymore. I had two at one point but I remember trading one for something. Then that should have left me with one, right?
I don't remember playing it much, but I do remember getting up to the Elite Four and never being able to get past the third one. |
Pokemon Yellow was my first one but since I can't find my copy I don't really play it.
Started with Pokemon yellow when I got my first see-thru Gameboy.
Bought it again for my N3ds... it has a rustic feel to it... and somehow its campaign is a bit more challenging; since the game wasn't so balanced back then. |
My first Pokémon game was Pokémon Crystal Version on the Game Boy Color. It remains my favorite Pokémon game to this day, and I still find it fun.
FireRed was my first game, I still love it to bits and replay it every year or so, I must have replayed it so many times and for some reason it never gets old. It's still my second favourite Pokemon game and would probably be number one if I didn't literally have an obsession with Emerald haha.
Blue was my first, but the last time I tried to play it I was too frustrated by how slow the game runs and generally how it doesn't have all the things I've gotten used to in the current games.
Pokemon Gold/Silver (my first games) really hooked me in. The graphics, the better features. I thought if Pokemon games could improve, it could only get better! And besides, they have one of the best designed regional Pokemon. And no I don't get to play them anymore. I play Emerald instead, not my first but definitely my favorite. And that's when I second (counting the red gya on gen 2) encountered a shiny, a Ralts early game.
The original Red version was my first, but trying to replay it after buying it on the eShop shows me that the game hasn't aged particularly well. I was kinda forcing myself through it to be honest.
Blue! Started it all for me. I don't actively replay RBY since the tiny bag space and lack of item sorting is tedious, but it's always fun to go through again to do a challenge run. Wave of nostalgia. Just... those Pokémon back sprites aren't so pretty. especially salad Venusaur lol 3:
Pokémon Blue Version was my first game, and I have an unopened copy of it somewhere. I still love the game, due to nostalgia, but I don't think they're outright superior like some people.
Mine was Crystal! I still play it and HGSS a lot. Like, way too much. Y'all have no idea.
'Twas Blue.
Sadly, it's very difficult for me to get back into it, since it's just...well, "dated" really is the best way to describe it. This seems a bit strange since I love playing older games and normally don't mind retro sprites at all, but for some reason I just couldn't get over the graphics in Blue. And then the battling was just... :/ Yeah, I've tried a few times, just couldn't get back into it. Something like Gold and Silver I would gladly play if I could. Blue is just a bit too much for me, though. Couldn't even get back into Yellow when I tried. First Gen games just don't do it for me anymore. |
Blue; and I still like to play it even now. While heavily outdated, it still has a lot of features that I enjoy that aren't around anymore. Like gift Pokemon automatically getting send to the PC and challenging TM management/HMs actually being useful moves in battles.
Also glitches, tons and tons of glitches. |
Another player here that started in Gen I. The game I started with was Pokemon Blue. I still have my original copy of it.
Pokemon yellow was my first. I don't have my copy anymore and it's been 18 years since I last played it :(
My first ever Pokémon game was Pokémon Platinum and yes, I still own it! It's my favourite Pokémon game ever ^^ I'm currently re-playing it, but I don't have to much time to focus on it unfortunately :/
I'm thinking of replaying LeafGreen, my first game, when I have some free time this weekend. It's been about a year since I played FireRed, and probably much longer since I played LeafGreen.

My first game was Red. I still enjoy playing it. I actually played through it a few months ago (when the VC releases came out), and I played through Blue then as well. I might start them again and play them again sometime soon.
There's something that I like about the simplicity of the gen I mechanics. Sure, I love the newer games too, but a lot of my favorite Pokemon are in gen I, and I feel like I now have a much better grasp on what set gen I battles apart from future generations than I did when I was younger. I also find that the single special stat sometimes allows me to use Pokemon that I wouldn't normally use today, or use them in a different way, so that's a lot of fun, too. And Red brings back so many memories. (Now, if only they would release GSC, my favorites, again! And Stadium for my now competitively-made gen I teams!) |
The first game I played was the original Red and I loved playing it even though it my friend's. Though, it didn't matter because he also had Yellow and we had some pretty intense battles through the one and only link cable.
LeafGreen was my first (canon--my previous game was a ROM hack on a cartridge lmao) game, although my connection with that game wasn't as strong as Emerald. It's probably because I never got past Cerulean City for some reason. I don't really play it often anymore, since I mostly play FireRed (which I believe is literally the same exact game minus box art, title screen and version exclusives), but I did have a fun time playing it as a child!
My first game was Red Version. I remember being so excited when my next door neighbor gave it to me because he was no longer interested. I don't have it anymore unfortunately. Pretty sure it got lost in one of my multiple moves of apartments/houses. :/
Red. It feels very weird going back to though. I kinda feel as if Gen I has aged pretty badly, but it still has its charm. I'm sure I still have my old cartridge somewhere...
Ruby was my first game. Haven't touched it in forever, but I still like Emerald.
The first game I ever played was Pokemon FireRed. And let me tell, I love the Kanto region beyond belief. I can easily play FR and LG, but also R/B/Y, just because it's Kanto. I'm a die hard fan of the first generation, even though Red was the second game I ever played. It gives me so much nostalgia.
red rescue team was my first game! it's not really my favorite, but my old cartridge still holds some sentimental value to me. i recently started replaying it and it's still super difficult for me, just like the good ol' days :,)
My first game was Red, when it was first released. I bought Yellow on the eShop in February, and I didn't finish it. The first generation titles have aged terribly in my opinion, I didn't enjoy the experience at all after a while. The graphics and sound were nostalgic and great, and the gameplay was more or less the same, but those little things - the EXP bar beneath your Pokemon's HP, battle speed, attack animations, etc - have really added up over the years. It wasn't as much fun as I was expecting it would be.
Pokemon Pinball. I still play it from time to time even if I can never get Evolution Mode to activate.
From the main series, Yellow. I still play Yellow a lot. I just never get tired of replaying it! Honestly, I'm like that with all my games, but the Pokemon series holds a special place in my heart. |
My first Pokemon game was Yellow i had many fun years playing with it But as of lately i have felt that it has lost it's touch on me it does not really feel like the same game i played 15 years ago I basically know everything about Pokemon now But back in the day i did not know that much and it was a little more fun to learn new strategies find which pokemon you want to use this time around and decide if you should waste the Masterball on one of the legendary birds or not.
My first Pokemon game was red/blue(I had both for some reason). Now that I've tried some newer games it's sort of hard to go back when I know all the flaws(I've watched speedrunning) and things like abilities exist.
