Transparency using Irfanview
I use Irfanview Version 3.62 for all my image editing needs. It is an amazing freeware utility which satisfies my wants. However, one thing I am not able to find is, How to make GIF & PNG Images Transparent using Irfanview? Can anyone who uses the same tool, enlighten me on this topic.
I would also like to know about the status of PNG Transparent files in IE, Opera and Firefox. I read an article about this some time ago but am not able to re-collect it. ~ CC |
When you save the image, go to Options and tick the transparency box. Then press Save and it will ask you to choose a transparent colour.
Firefox/Mozilla properly supports alpha transparency for PNGs. IE doesn't; I don't know about Opera. Google "browser png test" and you'll find some testing pages. |

No, it's about where in the palette it's stored, from position 0 to position 255. There should be an option where you can use an eyedropper to click on the colour in the picture. If not, upgrade, I think 3.95 is out now.
