How can i enjoy Pokemon more?

Title is self-explanatory. I do not seem to enjoy pokemon as i have before.. i love the series, the catching of pokemon and all.
But how do i enjoy it more? can you tell me something so i enjoy the game and not quit it after the first gym?

hmmm when I've lost interest in playing before I found it helpful to do things like... plan my team so I have more goals than just beating gyms; I'm constantly looking ahead to when and where I'm gonna get my next team member. Or do a challenge- a Gym Leader challenge was what finally got my ass all the way through Black, haha. Make it a point to... collect every single TM or something. idk, alternative goals always challenge me a bit more.

Another thing would be to maybe watch the anime or read the manga or read fics/look at art/make stuff? Immersing yourself in other aspects of the franchise might rekindle your love. :)

Hmm i could do that indeed, i was thinking about doing the nuzlocke challenge as that seemed fun as hell!
It would be a big challenge but it might immerse me more you know, thanks for your suggestions.
Well, i have watched the anime but did not enjoy it at all, terrible compared to the first and second generations inuendo.

Challenge runs, as has already been suggested, could spice things up. Whether it's a nuzlocke, or a mono type run, or a solo run... Heck, these forums have a whole section dedicated to challenge runs! One I like to do sometimes is a 12 Pokemon run. As the name implies, you rotate between 12 Pokemon instead of 6. You get to use more Pokemon than usual, and if you're looking for a little more challenge, it results in you being underleveled too.

You could try playing a ROM hack, too, I suppose. Whether it's just a hack that includes all of the Pokemon and/or increased difficulty, or a whole new game. Heck, RPG Maker games, too. Again, whole section(s) for that!

Challenges are always a god way to spice things up, I really enjoy them and I often get more attached to my adventure and Pokemon that way. If that doesn't help, maybe try taking a break, as negative as it sounds, it really helped me once, I'd played Pokemon religiously for years and had lost motivation to carry on. But after not playing for a while, my love for the series was actually rekindled, I dunno, it's not ideal but it helped me.

honestly most of my pokemon love comes crashinng in due to fanworks and the anime haha but if that aint your style nbd :>

Thank you all so much, i decided to give it a go and try the Nuzlocke challenge on Heart gold as i simply adore the pokemon following me around! it is so amazing!

If you are losing interest on the game you can try two things: (at least thats what i did)
-Take a break from pokemon and try other things, i made a 1 year brake from pokemon and i came back to it super motivated to play!
-Try new things, play spin off games like Mystery Dungeon or ranger, try playing the older games like red or silver, try speedrunning or making challenges like Nuzlocke, try shiny hunting like me, maybe play new games like all the amazing fan made games we got here or maybe even try other things non game related like watching the anime/movies or collecting cards.
Pokemon is a big franchise so dont just stick to the games

Don't play Rumble World and pretend it doesn't exist

Took a short break, came back to it again yesterday and i seem to enjoy it more, i am motivated to play hugely.

Definitely agree on challenges. I've tried both Wedlocke and Nuzlocke challenges and they really got me back into some of the fourth and fifth gen games particularly. Worth a try!
