challenges completed: 9/81 (or 24/151)

UPDATE 9: ARBOK
Spoiler:

Finished the Ekans-line.

https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/arbok.png
NAJA (m) @ lvl78
Nature: Naive
Ability: Intimidate
Hold Item: Rawst Berry
Moves: Return, Earthquake, Giga Drain, Bite

Remarks:
- The hardest part was definitely the beginning, with Ekans having very limited moves. It asked for a lot of patience, which I don't always have (and therefore I procrastinated this project for a few weeks). I beat the E4 in one go, even though NAJA was close to fainting a few times.

Finished the Pikachu-line.

https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/raichu.png
APODEMUS (m) @ lvl81
Nature: Naive
Ability: Static
Hold Item: None
Moves: Thunderbolt, Secret Power, Iron Tail, Double Team

Remarks:
- As a Pikachu, APODEMUS struggled a bit with his low defenses, especially in the main battles around Cerulean City
- The E4 was easy, but Champion BEIGE's Rhydon suddenly OHKO'd APODEMUS. At the second try, I set up 6 Double Teams against his Pidgeot before facing Rhydon, and succeeded.

UPDATE 11: SANDSLASH
Spoiler:

Finished the Sandshrew-line.

TACHY (m) @ lvl78
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Sand Veil
Hold Item: None
Moves: Earthquake, Rock Slide, Aerial Ace, Sandstorm

Remarks:
- TACHY lost almost every match against rival INDIGO, except the final Champion one.
- TACHY fainted once in a gymbattle, surprisingly against Koga's Muk...
- The E4, including Champion INDIGO, was very easy, using one X Attack in each battle.

LEPORI (f) @ lvl79
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Poison Point
Hold Item: None
Moves: Earthquake, Thunderbolt, Crunch, Water Pulse

Remarks:
This was a fairly easy run, from start to finish. Had good coverage moves, although I did almost faint against Lorelei's Lapras. Even forgot to buy X Items, but didn't need them.

UPDATE 13: NIDOKING
Spoiler:

Finished the Nidoran?-line.

LEPUS (m) @ lvl76
Nature: Quirky
Ability: Poison Point
Hold Item: None
Moves: Earthquake, Ice Beam, Brick Break, Shadow Ball

Remarks:
Same as with the Nidoqueen, this was an easy run. Only Rival Green's Gyarados gave me trouble by hitting Hydro Pump five times in a row. Keep on healing until the PP runs out always works though.

Also, didn't forget to take screenshots for a change. Try to make them with all upcoming runs from now on.

Remarks:
Wow! The very first time I ever used a Clefable, and what a beast she can be! She doesn't learn many useful moves herself, but can be taught many. With Ice, Electric and Psychic moves, all of the E4 and Rival Pokes are covered (except for Jynx and Alakazam, but I chose Calm Mind over Shadow Ball).

First Update I started the game and stupidly picked Treeko as my started misremembering what move the tutorial Poochyena gets but decided to run with it. So I chaught the female Pooch with Thunder fang and named it Shenzi after the female heyna in The Lion King as I always name my males Ed. She was a bit rough to train at first not hitting level 7 till I beat every trainer on route 102 but I went through grinding to level 20 before taking on Roxanne just cause I felt like it but man dit it take a while. Long story short started, got the first gym badge and then got off for the night.

Mightyena(Shenzi) Level 20
Thunder Fang
Howl
Bite
Sand Attack

ZexceedKeil123 June 3rd, 2019 10:36 PM

Didn't get much progress to day because of frustration with the second gym can't get passed that second trainer no matter what I do but anyway no changes to Shenzi except a few levels

Mightyena(Shenzi) Level 23
Bite
Thunder Fang
Sand Attack
Howl

SP458 June 4th, 2019 4:23 AM

Update: Finally defeated Misty at Cerulean Gym after clearing the Routes 24 and 25 to Bill.

Spoiler:

https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/red-blue/normal/dratini.png
Dratini Lv.26
69 HP / 50 Attack / 38 Defense / 41 Speed / 42 Special
- BubbleBeam
- Wrap
- Leer
- Agility

I gave Dratini Water Gun for the Hiker's Rock Pokémon, then I replaced Thunder Wave with Agility to outspeed potential teams of quick Pokémon without spending turns paralyzing them (especially as Body Slam will be available at S.S. Anne).

ZexceedKeil123 June 6th, 2019 7:10 PM

After a grinding and grinding and grinding I finally beat Brawley at level 33 then talked to steven. Then went and tracked down Stern beat some Magma Grunts and then Destroyed May before going and taking on Watson. Won and went to the Cave with May to save Cosmo then to Lavaridge beat Flannery. Grinded a bit before taking on Dad and used a tiny raccoon to surf and then saved a dragon boxed then at Fortree destroyed Winona. Story story story beat team Magma at their base and then Tate and Liza. story story story chaught Groudon and then took on Wallace lost the first time grinded just a bit and then won. Grinded on my way to the elite four and beat Wally after a few tries then made it to EverGrande and took my first stab at the E4 First three where easy but Drake caused a few Problems so I had to do it 3 times before even getting to Steven and then at least 5 move just to beat him so there we go endof this

Mightyena(Shenzi) Level 63
Crunch
Shadow Ball
Rock Smash
Strength

SP458 June 19th, 2019 10:21 PM

Solo Dratini Update: Dratini evolved while clearing S.S. Anne and I've also defeated Lt. Surge (I've caught a Paras to cut the tree besides the Gym).

Finally a 100% accurate moveset, with Body Slam as its main move, BubbleBeam being useful vs. Hikers and Thunderbolt vs. the ghosts at Pokémon Tower.

Partner Pokemon: Azumarill
Challenge: Single
Game(s): Black 2 (2/8)
Previous Progress: No

Since previous progress means if I started this challenge in the old thread, no, I do not have prior progress. In a game sense, though, I did already do some of the challenge prior to signing up. I have already completed 2 gyms out of 8 in the Black 2 run, but wanted to see how those initial battles go before I make my run "official". If this run ends up successful I intend to try the same Pokemon solo on the Blaze Black 2 hack.

Currently I am going through Castelia City, knocking out a bunch of side stuff before I continue with the story. I did end up using the marking cheat codes on an Azurill I caught early on, only because the initial grind to get EVs would have doubled the amount of time I would spend on this game, not to mention the challenge would be quite a bit harder with bad IVs. However, the Azumarill I have is legal since all I did was change its Nature, max out its IVs and its HP and Attack EVs (I grinded on Purrloins to get the last 6 points into Speed), and its Happiness to get it evolved right away since non-STAB Bubble does puny damage in this game. I kept everything else it started with. The intention of the cheat codes was to drastically reduce the time I would have spent at the start of the game.

EDIT: I have finished the challenge, and while the Pokemon League itself actually didn't end up as tough as I thought it would, it did still challenge me as to how to defeat each of the opponent's Pokemon. I have a picture in spoilers of both proof of my completion as well as what I considered the top 3 hardest parts of this run.

Spoiler:
https://i.imgur.com/cehOu8c.png

3. The Pokemon League. This really just came down to how quickly I could defeat the opponent's Pokemon as well as health management. I ended up not having to use any items due to my Pokemon's very high level, but the decision for me to use Leftovers as the hold item (as well as the use of Aqua Ring), definitely contributed to using no medicine at the League. No particular battle stood out except for Shauntal's Cofagrigus inflicting Azumarill with Mummy once Azumarill took it out, essentially cutting Azumarill's power in half, which although he did not have too much trouble with the rest of Shauntal's team, a previous battle where this happened made me nervous going to the second Pokemon. The other battle was Grimsley's Liepard inflicting Attract on Azumarill, causing the fight to stall for a while since Liepard did not do enough damage that Leftovers + Aqua Ring couldn't completely heal.

2. Colress on the Plasma Frigate. While I equipped Azumarill with the means to take out Dragons, Steel types can present a problem, especially if it becomes much harder to use Aqua Tail. That is exactly what happened with this battle is that Azumarill was paralyzed early, so Azumarill definitely could not out speed Colress's team, and Colress equipped his Pokemon with some Electric attacks, including Volt Switch. Aqua Ring definitely helped here.

1. Ghetsis. He was furious that I managed to OHKO Black Kyurem with one Return attack (though it was a crit). Status effects really showed up in this battle, starting with the early Toxic move after Azumarill got Mummy from physically attacking Cofagrigus. Eleketross was when I started having to use items in battle, and this was the only battle I had to use items in order to survive. I would cure Azumarill of the deadly poison, only for him to get paralyzed just one turn later. So quite a few healing and status effect removing items were used to beat the rest of Ghetsis's team. My Azumarill had been overleveled on major battles since Roxie, and this was the only one that got the health in the red.

In the end, this is Azumarill's stats, having just leveled up from taking out Iris's last Pokemon:

Azumarill (Adamant):
Level 94
Return
Aqua Tail
Ice Punch
Aqua Ring
Holding: Leftovers

SP458 July 11th, 2019 1:26 PM

Solo Dratini Update: Even without any grinding I didn't expect a slow-growing Pokémon such as Dragonair to reach that level (though I've been helped by the Rare Candies). Easily cleared the Rocket Hideout and the Celadon Gym thanks to the TM for Ice Beam. It should evolve around the Silph Co. arc.

Spoiler:

Dragonair Lv.46

Spoiler:
I’m trying to beat Crystal using only a Smeargle. I’m taking it in small steps so I don’t get overwhelmed. I named my Smeargle after an ancient Greek painter, but I'm going to rename him "Sugimori" soon.

I started by picking up Tackle from a wild Pidgey, and used that to beat Sprout Tower and Falkner. The other available moves seemed like bad options against ace Pidgeotto.

I kept using Tackle as my only move until we met the hiker at the exit of Union Cave. It took several attempts, but we managed to chip away at his Geodude and picked up Low Kick from his Machop. We also beat Bugsy, but it took a lot of luck. Ace Scyther at a full chain of Fury Cutter is hard to deal with. I had to retry until the enemy AI just had mercy on me and started throwing in Quick Attacks at random. Super Potions helped too.

What move should I pick up next? I’m hoping to give him a palette of FIG, ELE, FIR & GRO.

I'm trying a pretty dumb challenge for myself after watching a youtuber complete said challenge. I've done a couple of solo runs in the past but today I have started what is going to be the most insane thing I've done. I want to beat each Pokemon League with only a single Rattata. I plan to go through all regions other than the one from Sword and Shield seeing as I do not have a Switch. Will this run be impossible? Perhaps. Will I try anyway this summer? Absolutely.
I've already managed to defeat Misty with my trusty rodent and so I'm gonna go ahead and sign up here to keep track of my wins.

So as I complete the Johto side of my Rattata solo run I've come to the realization that I have no solid way to get a regular rattata egg into Pokemon Y, Omega Ruby, nor Ultra Moon. So what I'm doing as a side project is to reach that goal with a secondary solo challenge. This one just a single run through Omega Ruby with the Treeko line. I'm gonna catch a ton of pokemon throughout it but only Treeko-Grovyle-Sceptile will be used in combat. My goal is to complete this game so that wild Rattata will appear in Hoenn so I can catch a couple and breed them, transfer three eggs into Pokemon bank (as well as all the extra pokemon I catch) and then restart Omega Ruby as well as Ultra Moon and start Y with a Rattata egg.

Here is my sign up for my Omega Ruby Run:

Edit... Just beat May with 5 HP remaining...

2nd Edit... took 2:37 of in game time to get Latios to level 10... Yep 2 HOURS and 37 MINUTES... And I still have 10 levels until I get Dragonbreath the first move Latios can use to cause damage to Dark types like Poochyena.

It's been years since I've been on here, but I got into doing solo runs again so I figured why not post here as well. According to my own files and lists I completed about 53 solo runs before I stopped/lost interest. I don't have any video footage of those though, so I'm not gonna count them. I just finished a run and I did one 2 years ago (I'm posting it cause I'm making it count in my own 'keeping-track-of' list, but let me know if you don't want to put it up). I'll use the sign-up block to get the info in here, but like I said both of these are completed.

I was surprised by how much stuff I still remembered. I had a bit of an issue with Grant's gym, until I realised I could avoid the trainer with the Relicanth completely and I only needed a few more levels for Ozai to evolve. Once I got to Korrina my level was already high enough to avoid any further issues, the biggest 'problem' overall was maybe Lysandre's Gyarados but even that was taken care of in 2 hits or so. I thought Siebold would give me some trouble, but I went a little overzealous with the Lucky Egg and apparently having a level 100 Pyroar makes everything pretty easy, who knew... Anyway I did enjoy this one a lot.
Spoiler:

Because I know myself I'm not gonna post any actual sign-ups or in-progress runs, just like the ones above I'll just post once when I complete a run. I figure that's better than having a ton of my in-progress runs up there and I change my mind like the weather, so who knows which one I'll finish next.

Athena the Ralts - Level 16
- Confusion
- Double Team
- Growl
Spoiler:

I unloaded myself from a truck, set the clock in my room, withdrew my potion from the computer, and met my new neighbour May. I then heard the cries of a man and investigated finding the Proffessor attacked by a Poochyena, I search through his bag and grabbed my first ever pokémon, Slave the Mudkip. After defeating the Poochyena, I was ready to go meet May again. After defeating May and receiving a parting gift of shoes from my mum, I was ready to take on an adventure.

Firstly I headed straight to Route 102, where I would catch my new partner in crime Ralts. After over 50 random encounters I finally came upon who would be my new best friend, the Female Ralts whom I named Athena. After some quick grinding swapping from Athena to Slave, Athena reached level 6 and learnt Confusion and was now ready to be used as my main pokémon. I went and saw my father at his new job and was introduced to Wally who totally copied me and caught his own Ralts. After heading on I travelled through the forest and arrived at Rustboro City where I quickly healed up, bought some potion and went to challenge Roxxane for my first badge.

Her two grunts were of no issue, Athena quickly took them down and reached level 12, I healed again, ready to take on Roxanne but luck was not on my side. Her Geodude out sped my Athena and quickly one shot KO'd her with a Rock Slide critical attack. It was disheartening. I decided to not give up and headed north to Route 116 where I grinded on the trainers and wild pokémon to reach level 14. I headed back to town to challenge Roxanne again. This time I was fortunate and my strategy worked. I used Double Team till I was nearly unhittable, with Geodude only hitting me once. Then came her infamous Nosepass, I was an unhittable machine, using Growl neutralised the Nosepass even more and I quickly made work of him, using Confusion 7 times untouched.

I had earned my Stone Badge and had learnt the power of Double Team in defeating hard opponents.

I headed north and helped both the Devon Co employee and Mr Brinley in defeating the Team Magma grunt, this being the final time I would have to use Slave to battle. I then took a ride on Mr Brinleys yatcht and travelled to Dewford Town where my first stop was the local Gym.
This gym was quite easy, only using Confusion on all the trainers then using Double Team once and sweeping with Confusion against Brawly.
Here I received my Knuckle Badge and ended the first stretch of my adventure

Started the run and chose Mudkip as my start, so May had Treecko just for a bit extra challenge. I rushed through the beginning section beat May and got pokeballs so I could get my Wingull naming him Kull, no clue why just first thing I thought of. Trained him a bit before taking on my first trainer. I continued taking on every trainer I could ending up being level 16 before taking on Roxanne she was pretty easy since I got a crit on Nosepass. I helped out Devon and got the letter for Steven and headed for Dewford. I destroyed the gym, Brawly was no challenge at all, before giving Steven his letter and heading for Slateport to help out Capitan Stern and saved my progress for the moment.

Kull the Wingull is Level 23 with Water Gun, Wing Attack, Steel Wing and Mist

As of today, Aerodactyl has solo'd Viola, Grant and Korrina.

...but not without some embarrassing losses to a Dwebble, a Lunatone, and a bunch of crits. Grant also took a while, had to do some grinding up to level 30. I also got screwed with the lack of a good defense boosting nature, so that's fun. ;_;

I'm glad the rest of the region loses to Aerodactyl

I've decided to resume my solo Dratini run... with an update!

Koga and its army of Jugglers have just been defeated by my Dragonair. Routes 12 to 15, Silph Co. and Saffron Gym are next.

Spoiler:

Since actually playing games in the 3DS is ... slow and I'm not close to my gaming PC let's try something faster in the mean time. Here's an Ultimate-ish, since I'm not comitting to the potentially impossible challenges of the 3DS only games (and I don't have a Switch / can emulate it, so if Galar is needed it wouldn't be an Ultimate anyways)

Username: von Sternen
Partner Pokemon: Porygon
Challenge: Ultimate-ish (four Singles for the purposes of the list)
Game(s): Red, Crystal, Sapphire, Platinum
Previous Progress: No

Edit: Kanto done.
Spoiler:

- Started the game with Virus the Porygon.

- Beating Brock was a bit annoying since I only have normal moves, but Conversion made Porygon become Rock type so it couldn't really do a lot back either. After a long war of attrition, I won.
Badges: 1/8

- At level 23 - just as soon as we reach Cerulean - we get our first special move, Psybeam. It's far from ideal but it means we can start using our humoungus Special stat. Misty's Starmie was tricky but nothing Virus couldn't handle.
Badges: 2/8

- Blue on the other hand, was trivial. Both times. So was Lt. Surge. And to make things even better, Surge gives us Thunderbolt, which will be very useful.
Badges: 3/8

- Gen I's policy of making almost every grass type Grass / Poison made Erika fall down rather easily. And with Celadon we basically won the game since we get Psychic and Ice Beam. We've also reached our low 40s so we learned Tri-Attack which finalizes our moveset.
Badges: 4/8

- Both Giovanni and Lavender Tower Rival were pretty easy to deal with.

- Koga's trainers were harder to deal with than Koga itself - they had Psychic Pokémon with high special.
Badges: 5/8

- Sabrina went down to a string of tri-attacks, although Alakazam does outspeed which might be problematic for the E4 later on.
Badges: 6/8

- Blaine and Giovanni were very easy. I didn't even heal or use a potion between them.
Badges: 8/8

- Lorelei and Bruno were trivial, but Agatha was troublesome since Gengar outsped and did some damage. Almost killed me. Lance was pretty easy.

As for Champion Blue, it was a bit more complicated than I expected - Alakazam and Arcanine outsped me and Venusaur could tank an Ice Beam. I managed to kill everybody without using an item but it could have gone south if the AI was a bit better.

And this shows the power of turbo, about 2 real-life hours became 13 in-game hours.
Either way, this was peak Porygon - offense and defense were the same thing, the TMs were very easy to get, and so on. Let's see how things go in the next generations.

Edit: Johto done
Spoiler:

- Started the game with Malware the Porygon.

- Silver was pretty easy.

- Since we get Psybeam a lot earlier this time around, Falkner, Bugsy, Whitney and Morty went down pretty quick.
Badges: 4/16

- The only reason Chuck wasn't a breeze was because of Hypnosis and Conhax :c
Badges: 5/16

- Instead of going straight to Jasmine, we go to Pryce because in this gen Steel resists Psychic moves. After the whole Rocket base thingy, Pryce died relatively quickly. Piloswine survived but a lucky Tri-Attack burn handled that.
Badges: 6/16

- I only won Jasmine because Iron Tail missed a lot, lol. In hindsight, I should have given Porygon a paralyze cure Berry - or just caved in and healed the paralysis - but it all worked out in the end. Thank Pryce for his TM.
Badges: 7/16

- Funnily enough, two five years old in the Dragon Den were more annoying to deal with than Claire - they managed to freeze me and almost killed me.
Badges: 8/16

- Rival the last but was pretty easy but like always, Magnetons give me problems.

- For the first time in quite a while the Elite Four actually was difficult.

Will was pretty easy, but Koga could sometimes poison and just stall until I died. If Bruno survived a Psybeam, he'd just destroy me and Karen did cheap tricks like Sand Attack and Curse. Still, losing again and again got me enough levels to push through.

Lance was as easy as always though. Icy Wind (with NeverMeltIce) was enough to kill 2/3 of his team and Tri Attack killed the other 1/3

- A small sidequest later, I get to Vermillion and just Psybeam Surge to death.
Badges: 9/16

- After that we hop over to Saffron, get Psychic and beat Sabrina.
Badges: 10/16

- And to wrap up this session, we just Icy Wind Erika to death.
Badges: 11/16

- One jaunt down the Rock Tunnel later, we get to Cerulean and Misty is relatively easy.
Badges: 12/16

- While Koga was a bit troublesome, Janine went down easy. A lot of levels and Psychic made sure of that.
Badges: 13/16

- Brock went down to an Icy Wind barrage.
Badges: 14/16

- Some lesser souls might have qualms about beating a homeless' old man last Pokémon. Not I. Blaine was destroyed.
Badges: 15/16

- And it was on the last battle of the run that my lack of Thunderbolt actually bit me in the ass. Without Thunderbolt, Gyarados survives and Pidgeot is a range. And since a lot of Blue's Pokémon actually can outspeed me, things can get complicated.
Luckily the AI goofed on my second attempt and I won.
Badges: 16/16 - Game end.

I thought the lack of the BoltBeam core was going to hurt but it was actually pretty OK? Apparently the 35 extra BP on Ice Beam were just overkill. To be fair, if I ever got truly desperate I could get Thunder pretty easily, if slowly. It just felt like such a waste of time.

So here we go, onwards to Hoenn.

Duck December 29th, 2020 7:01 AM

Making a post for Hoenn's first update because Trojan deserves it. The moral of the story here is that if you want to do a Porygon / Porygon2 solo run, go for ORAS and get Download.

Spoiler:

- Started the game with Trojan, the Porygon.

- Like always, Psybeam came in clutch for Gyms 1 and 2.
Badges: 2/8

- I was a bit worried about May, since I gave her Torchic. But it turns out I just speed and OHKO Combusken, so there's that. Let's see if this will happen again with Blaziken.

- When we reach Mauville, we could just say gg. If I'm willing to spend a lot of time playing the roulette, which has almost guaranteed payout in the long run, I could get Thunderbolt, Psychic and Ice Beam. But given Malware's performance back in Johto and the fact we can get pretty much all of these TMs later on, let's see how things go.

- Wattson's Magnemite and Magneton actually needed a little bit of strategy! Having Trojan hold a Cherri berry we can get rid of the first Thunder Wave, and after that we need to use Recover to last in battle.

It still wasn't working - I was resetting so I didn't just keep getting free experience. In the end, it was for naught, I needed to leave and battle the trainers in the cicling road before coming back and having a chance.

It's still not enough. Which means we have to grind it out, and cave in and use items.
This will be the hardest gym in the game, possibly the hardest trainer. While Steel types are a pain, Magnemite and Magneton in particular are even more so and Steven doesn't use them.

Badges: 3/8

- Flannery took two tries but wasn't anything particularly special.
Badges: 4/8

- Remember when I said Wattson was going to be the hardest enemy? I was wrong. You see, the only ability Porygon has in Gen III is Trace. Norman leads with Slaking.

But wait, it gets worse. After Porygon kills the first Slaking, Norman sends the second. Thing is, Porygon is loafing around that turn since it just attacked. His Slaking, is not.

Which means Porygon needs to take an uncontested Focus Punch to the face.

After some calcing it turns out I need to use Sharpen to get Porygon to Att+6, while wearing the Silk Scarf to both survive a Focus Punch from full and be able to OHKO Slaking, since we can't PP Stall for 20 turns. All of that using items.

And as it turns out, Vigoroth was speed tied to my Porygon so an extra item was needed.

Conclusion: Slaking without Truant is already bad, Slaking with Truant on your Truant turn is even worse.

I sincerely doubt Steven will be worse than this. On the good side, we get Surf, which means Ice Beam!

- Tri-Attack
- Sharpen
- Recover
- Psybeam

Edit: Hoenn finale.
Spoiler:

- After collecting Ice Beam and Thunderbolt things proceed at a very fast pace. I did forget Psybeam so I was slightly afraid of May but it turns out Ice Beam could OHKO Combusken so, welp. Winona was destroyed.
Badges: 6/8

- I used a Magikarp to battle Tate and Liza, it was pretty easy. The Pokemon were 2HKO each.
Badges: 7/8

- Kyogre was a 2HKO, lol. Wasted his one turn using Calm Mind.

- Wallace wasn't very problematic given Thunderbolt. Now to the Victory Road and getting our hands on Psychic.
Badges: 8/8

- Victory Road was only notable in that I ran out of PP, and needed to use an Elixer :c

- Sidney was pretty easy to get past. Phoebe was a bit annoying because of Pressure, but thankfully I had a handful of Leppa berries. Glacia's only issue was that I needed to stall things so she didn't send Walrein when Hail was out. Drake was pretty straightforward, lots of Ice quadweaknesses there.

- Steven was complicated. I was forced to use items, I also made a couple of misplays but in the end, I had a bit of luck by my side and managed to win by the skin of my teeth.

I kinda forgot about signing-up and updating one solo run I did back in August. After I finish my Professor Oak Challenge in Fire Red, Mew was the only Kanto Pokémon I've never used in any challenge, so I decided to do a quick Mew solo run.

And I finished it in about 2 days, since there was nothing that could stop Mew. Well, Brock did try, but in the end, the mythical powers were too much for him to handle. I experimented with few movesets and in the end settled with Psychic, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam (for Lance) and Calm Mind. E4 fights were all about setting it up and sweeping the floor with anything they could sent against me.

So I have a question. I have two runs that are completed, but I never signed up for. Is it possible to count those as completions for the sake of completion?

I think so. If you look at my post above, you can see that I've done exactly that.

Yea, kind of figured. I was doing things like asking people on my discord for challenges, and they were telling me what to play. I guess I'll write it down and see what anyone says.

I know it's an easy solo challenge, but I love Swampert! Beware of Steven's Cradilly and that female trainer at the bottom of mt chimney. I missed rock tomb. That shroomish leech seeded me, and since it took two attack to faint it, I had to to rely on dire hit to make sure I didn't lose the battle.

Starting with only Rage as an offensive move was a double edged sword because if you got careless, you'd run out of PP, which did happen to me. Once I beat Falkner, Mud-Slap became an addition to the set for a while, but I had already planned on using Dig long term. Miltank almost ripped pour Dunsparce to shreds and I lost to the Elite Four once because Karen's Gengar used Curse, then Destiny Bond on my Dig and killed my Dunspace. With an X Speed, I could outspeed the Gengar, but I also ended up deleting Screech for Thief.

I also had an encounter with a shiny Nidoran F...but because I was abusing the speedup button, I didn't realize it until after I ran from it and encountered a regular one.

Overall, Dunsparce was, as expected, pretty awful. He struggled to kill certain things like during Blue and Red and the lack of moves means Glare + Headbutt was the best strategy I had, alongside some X Item use to make up for poor stats.

Segments (Dunsparce) Lv. 80 @ Leftovers
Moves: Headbutt, Dig, Glare, Thief

Magcargo might be the next one on the list. Another slow mon with poor stats, but unlike Dunsparce, gets completely owned by Misty and Ground types.

EDIT: I did Magcargo. It wasn't fun, and I actually did have to rely on X Items and Sunny Day to get past Water types in the lategame. I also had to make use of Amnesia. It is pretty nice that Magcargo learns Flamethrower by level up, which did help quite a bit.
