Far Cry 5 Discussion

I thought I would start a discussion on this matter after rumors of the title being set in Montana and releasing later this year. What are your hopes for the next Far Cry and what you want in it?

EC May 10th, 2017 1:49 PM

Less crafting. More batshit insane explosions and weapons.

Arsenic May 10th, 2017 5:30 PM

Did someone say set in Montana?

In seriousness though, I think they were more than likely just scouting the area to make a similar environment.

I hope for gameplay closer to Far-Cry 2 personally. Enough of all this mountain dew, short attention span shit with no difficulty. Bring back some actual mechanics like weapon maintenance and give me an actual story that doesn't glorify war as some overly heroic bullshit that everyone should want to do.

Oh and of course the graphics of FC2 are still better. Looks less like a little kid's coloring book.

Hermione Granger May 10th, 2017 6:55 PM

I'm hoping for gameplay like FC3 myself, that is my favorite title of the series. I would dispise weapon maintenance myself.

This more or less will be a day one purchase for me.

Arsenic May 16th, 2017 12:08 PM

I feel Far-Cry has lost it's way recently. It's just another empty Ubisoft open world with no life. I long for the days of looking at an actual map that the player pulls out and having almost no hud. FC2 was super duper uber immersive.

And way more interesting in about every way. There was actual difficulty in the game

(P.S. Here it is Xin)

Montana confirmed. Full reveal May 26th.

Arsenic May 22nd, 2017 9:24 AM

I posted a compilation of all of the trailers and my thoughts on what it looks like in DCC

Here's the compilation so it is in this thread as well.

T-shirts and high tension wires make it look to be a modern setting. And that makes me happy. I also love the idea of fighting in a first world country, as we should have a huge access to any weaponry you can think of!

Hermione Granger May 22nd, 2017 9:52 AM

I'm looking forward to Friday to see the reveal.

Arsenic May 22nd, 2017 9:55 AM

Maybe Hope County is where all the now PTSD stricken and combat addicted protagonists of all the games moved after their adventures : D lol

EC May 24th, 2017 8:22 AM

Here is the official boxart, and holy moly, it's great.

I'm thinking of possiblly getting this title digitally, but that artwork for the physical version looks sweet.

Arsenic May 24th, 2017 5:59 PM

Looks like a bunch of rednecks.

COME GET CHU SUM!

JJ Styles May 25th, 2017 9:47 PM

I cant wait for the e3 trailer only to see some 76% expected ubisoft downgrades with a video from crowbcat just sh--t posting on the entire matter. Though obviously the game needs to be released for that crowbcat video to happen.

Sheet posting asides, seeing that box art thanks to ubisoft's facebook page did got me excited to the point where id consider it to be my mortal sin it i did not get a physical copy🍔

EC May 26th, 2017 6:45 AM

Who's got the Kool Aid recipe ready?

Also, where is the national guard? Why is a detective fighting this war? Being in the grunts!

Also you missed a couple few

Hermione Granger May 26th, 2017 4:47 PM

Decided to preorder physically because they revealed a steelbook edition.

Arsenic May 29th, 2017 5:46 AM

Y'know, I don't get all the "controversy" surrounding this game...

For years upon years we've had games in the middle east slaughtering "extremists". When games try and break further forward or backwards in time (and this have newer equipment and a real militarized enemy) everyone seems to freak out to boot. Too futury I want to go back to boots on the ground desert storm times and there's no extremist to fight!

Now we are going to slaughter the same enemy everyone seems to never want to stop fighting, but in America and WHOA WHOA WHOA THAT'S NOT OK WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU THESE AREN'T ISLAM BASED EXTREMISTS THEIR CATHOLIC BASED EXTREMEST THIS IS SO WRONG HOW COULD ANYONE SUPPORT THE SLAUGHTER OF WHITE AMERICANS AND CATHOLICS ARE NOTHING LIKE THESE GUYS AND ARE PEACEFUL WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL

It's a double edged standard. It's perfectly fine to go to war as long as its a Muslim extremest group but bring it home and the exact same thing is no longer ok.

What are others thoughts on this stuff?

What does the steelbook look like? Have they revealed it?

Leviathan May 29th, 2017 6:40 AM

Hmm I may actually decide to buy this instalment. The premise is...curious, to say the least.

It hasn't been revealed but I hope it is awesome since it cost $99.99 and comes with the season pass.

Regarding the far cri 5 controversy, i felt my brain cells committing suicide upon reading all of the material related to it. Last year's cancer of "getting offended" seems to refuse to surrender aka calm the ?? @@@@ down

Also there is a change.org petition for the game's cancellation which i highly doubt to be serious.

I'm not too bothered with the controversy since each installment I recall had some sort of one, but that petition is waste of time imo.

Quite frankly I love the idea that this game has. It's a cult based on a bastardized version of Christianity which makes a lot of sense, really. Just like with any other religion it can be taken way too far.

The thing I like so much is that this is actually a lot more challenging. A lot of people in the west know a lot of Christians firsthand and shooting extremists based on that religion might make them uncomfortable. Not to mention that this is something we haven't seen much before and it's a lot more interesting than the enemy being "Generic brown person."

JJ Styles May 31st, 2017 9:06 PM

And I'm glad that this subforum isn't in the same level as in NEOGAF when those people were disappointed that the enemies are not going to be conservative Christians. I mean, I didn't mind if I was going to partake in my fair share of sending the Christan Taliban to hell.

Also, from what I've read from outside sources including some cringy articles such as Polygon and FIFIMists, the common denominator among all of this is that they often point out that the this is a game that's going to be released under "Trump's America" which i'm sure that the actual USA/Americans in this subforum should have a higher and more valid opinion about.

But really, the people who are getting offended such as those "conservatives" AND feminists are overracting way too early when it should be considered that there is little info about the enemy faction. While we know their overall premise as a Doomsday Cult, we aren't sure of their political leanings and whatnot. We aren't sure of their overall character as a faction. But of cours there's always those people who lack the level of culture needed to appreciate a VIDEO GAME aka "concerned people" who love sticking up a stick up their asses.

But what I am positively sure, as a say it with a smile, I'm going to enjoy this game. I've always wanted to mow down a bunch of Cultists that resemble insanely bastardized versions of extremists Christian groups. Its a delicious change of pace from fighting the usual Far Cry Fodder, and to consider other first person shooters, the fodder of Demons, Nazis, Aliens, Bandits, PMCs, and Terrorists. ^^

I wished ubisoft would have shown more than what they did during E3 last week.
